<p>So it was interesting to hear him talk about the role he played in shaping the company's products and strategy.</p>
<p>Sordello spoke in an interview at the 2013 Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco.</p>
<p>He joined the company in 2007 from TiVo, and served under two CEOs before current CEO <keyword id="299066" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jeff-Weiner">Jeff Weiner</keyword>.</p>
<p>The first day he met Weiner, Weiner asked Sordello, "What should LinkedIn be?"</p>
<p>Sordello's answer: "LinkedIn should be a site that if you don't visit it every day, you'll feel you're not doing your job."</p>
<p>Sordello didn't take explicit credit for this insight, but since that conversation, making LinkedIn an <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/linkedin-just-gave-users-a-reason-to-visit-every-day-2011-3">everyday habit for professionals</a> has become a key push for the company.</p>

<p>Its future earnings should get even better, because CFO <keyword id="1768752" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Steve-Sordello">Steve Sordello</keyword> just told analysts on a call to discuss the results that the company was planning to hike its prices.</p>
<p>The price hikes on job listings and <keyword id="1771082" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="LinkedIn-Recruiter">LinkedIn Recruiter</keyword>, the company's high-end software tools for HR professionals, should come in the second quarter, Sordello said. They'll only apply to customers in North America and Western Europe as they renew contracts.</p>
<p>Sordello didn't give details on the new prices, but told analysts to expect a "mid-single-digit increase" in related revenues. So that offers a guide to how much more customers will pay.</p>
<p>As an explanation for the price increase, Sordello pointed to the doubling of LinkedIn's member base to 200 million.</p>

LinkedIn Customers: Get Ready For A Price Hike

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/27524212@N04/3938838058">Flickr / Nadia Hatoum</a></span></p><p class="caption">Not actually LinkedIn's <keyword id="53346" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="CFO">CFO</keyword>.</p></div><p></p></div></div>It's not everyday you see $10 billion vanish before your eyes. </p><p>That's basically what happened when LinkedIn's stock <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/linkedin-earnings-q4-2016-2">crumbled 40 percent</a> after reporting its quarterly financial results last week (the stock declined an additional 9% on Tuesday). </p><p>Among the most shocked is LinkedIn CFO Steve Sordello.</p><p>Sordello was "pretty surprised at the magnitude of what we saw," he said at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco on Tuesday. </p><p>"We really haven't seen anything fundamentally change in the business," Sordello said. </p><p>Yes, he admitted, LinkedIn had decided to phase out certain aspects of its Bizo business - a company that LinkedIn acquired less than two years ago for $175 million and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/linkedins-1-billion-b2b-marketing-plan-2014-8">for which it had high hopes</a> of turning into a billion-dollar business by 2017.  And Sordello said there's been a little bit of "macro sentiment" compared to three months ago. </p><p>Still, he said, the drubbing that Wall Street has inflicted on his company's stock was a surprise. </p><p>What about LinkedIn's weaker weaker-than-expected revenue forecast?</p><p>"Q4, we actually had a pretty strong quarter," Sordello explained. This is the second lowest reading since Merkel's re-election in 2013.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-q10-filing-says-it-may-have-to-restructure-uk-business-post-brexit-2016-8?r=UK&amp;IR=T">Goldman Sachs might have to make some changes in the UK</a>.</strong> According to a US regulatory filing, the investment bank says Brexit could <span>"adversely affect" certain parts of its business, and it might be forced to restructure some of its business. The filing comes a little more than a month after <span>Richard Gnodde, the co-head of the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, suggested the company could move staff out of the UK and into other countries within the European Union because of Brexit. </span> </span></p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/report-apple-has-changed-its-entire-approach-to-tv-2016-8">Apple is changing its approach to TV</a>.</strong> The tech giant is building a TV guide that will allow it to connect to <span>services like Netflix, HBO, and ESPN, a source told Recode's Peter Kafka. </span></p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-one-cargo-freighter-2016-8">Amazon is leasing airplanes</a>. </strong>Amazon One, a converted Boeing 767 that's operated by Atlas Air and the first plane to bear the company's name, was unveiled on Thursday. Bezos is an investor in Business Insider. </p><p><strong><a href="https://press.linkedin.com/site-resources/news-releases/2016/linkedin-announces-second-quarter-2016-results">LinkedIn crushes estimates</a>. </strong>The business networking site earned $1.13 per share as revenue spiked 31% to $712 million. Back in July, Microsoft agreed to acquire LinkedIn for about $26 billion.  </span></span></p><p><strong>Stock markets around the world are higher.</strong> Hong Kong's Hang Seng (+1.4%) led the gains in Asia and Spain's IBEX (+0.8%) paces the advance in Europe. Here are the numbers:</p>

<li><strong>EPS</strong>: $0.38 (compared to analyst estimates of $0.34)</li>
<li><strong>Revenue</strong>: $473.2 million (compared to analyst estimates of $466.57 million)</li>
</ul>
<p>The stock has been fluctuating in reaction to the news, but it's been negative the whole time. Right now it's down 3%. </p>

<p>LinkedIn's revenue guidance for Q2 was between $500 million and $505 million, compared to analyst estimates of $505.08 million, so that's a little low.</p>

LinkedIn Beats Expectations Across The Board ... And The Stock Dips For Some Reason

The number was expected to slip to -0.1% from March's 0.0% print. While a large part of the decline can be attributed to the drop in oil prices, the core reading wasn't much better. Those prices showed disinflation, or a slowing of price gains, rising 0.8% compared to the previous look of up 0.9%. Economists had forecast a bump up to 1%. The euro is up 0.4% at 1.1396 per dollar.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.cnbc.com/2016/04/28/chinas-currency-renminbi-yuan-fixing-by-pboc-jumps-most-since-2005.html">China's yuan fixing saw its biggest move since 2005</a>.</strong> The People's Bank of China set the midpoint of its yuan trading band at 6.4589 per dollar. This was weaker by 0.6% compared to Thursday's fixing, and was the biggest adjustment since 2005, according to CNBC.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/traders-continue-to-pile-into-the-japanese-yen-2016-4">The Japanese yen keeps getting stronger</a>. </strong>The currency briefly strengthened to better than 107.00 per dollar, something it hasn't done since October 2014. The yen has rallied about 4% since Thursday's Bank of Japan decision that kept policy on hold when it was widely anticipated the central bank would announce further easing. Currently, the yen is stronger by 1% near 107.00 per dollar.</p><p><strong><strong>Precious metals are surging. </strong></strong>Silver's up 1.4% at $17.80 per ounce, and at its best level since February 2015. A 0.9% advance for gold has it above $1278 per ounce, and on track for its best close in 15 months.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-earnings-q1-2016-2016-4">Amazon posted a big beat</a>.</strong> The online market place earned $1.07 per share as revenue jumped 27% year-over-year to $29.1 billion. Both numbers were well ahead of their respective Bloomberg consensus. Amazon's web services revenue climbed 64% YoY to $2.57 billion, edging out the $2.53 billion that was expected. The Q1 net profit of $513 million was the largest ever for the company. Amazon shares are higher by 12.5% ahead of the opening bell.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/linkedin-q1-earnings-2016-4">LinkedIn beat on the top and bottom lines</a>. </strong>The professional networking site announced adjusted earnings of $0.74 per share, easily beating the $0.60 that was expected. Revenue surged 35% versus a year ago to $860.7 million, which was well ahead of the $828 million that Wall Street was anticipating. <span>"We continue to invest heavily in innovation and in our core products, while at the same time driving focus and scale to enable growth and leverage across the business," CFO Steve Sordello said in the earnings release. Shares of LinkedIn are up 7.6% in pre-market trade.</span></p><p><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-ab-inbev-offers-more-sab-europe-assets-to-win-eu-deal-approval-2016-4">AB InBev says will sell more of SAB's European assets</a>. </strong>The world's largest brewer says it will sell SABMiller's Eastern European assets in order to win regulatory approval for its $100 billion takeover, Reuters reports. The announcement comes as AB InBev readies for the European Commission's verdict, which will be announced no later than May 24. AB InBev has already said it will sell <span>SABMiller's Grolsch, Peroni, and Meantime brands to Japan's Asahi Group Holdings for <span>€</span>2.55 billion ($2.90 billion) if the deal is approved.</span></p><p><strong>Earnings reports continue to flow. </strong>AstraZeneca, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Phillips 66 are among the companies releasing their quarterly results before the opening bell.</p><p><strong>Stock markets pretty much everywhere are in the red. </strong>Hong Kong's Hang Seng (-1.5%) led the losses in Asia and Japan's Nikkei was closed. In Europe, Spain's IBEX (-1.9%) paces the decline. S&amp;P 500 futures are down 3.00 points at 2069.50. </p><p><strong> US economic data is heavy. </strong>Personal income and spending, PCE core prices, and the Employment Cost Index will all be released at 8:30 a.m. ET before Chicago PMI crosses the wires at 9:45 a.m. ET and University of Michigan consumer sentiment is announced at 10 a.m. ET. <p>Earlier this week, <strong>Mountain Dew </strong>found itself in the middle of a PR disaster after one of its ads, made by rapper Tyler, The Creator was panned for alleged racism and normalizing violence against women. Now Mountain Dew has taken to Twitter to buy promoted tweets to apologize again, <a href="http://www.adweek.com/news/technology/mountain-dew-uses-twitter-ads-promote-apology-149116">Adweek reports</a>. The Tweet reads, "Hey guys - made a big mistake we've removed the offensive video from all our channels. <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23fail&amp;src=hash" class="twitter-hashtag pretty-link js-nav" data-query-source="hashtag_click"><s>#</s><strong>fail</strong></a>" The company also tweeted the message out to its 126K followers.
