It's the most extreme version of Lambo's iconic V-12 that has ever been deployed in a road car. </p><p>According to Lamborghini, its founding father's 100th birthday present is capable of blitzing the run to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of around 217 mph. </p><p><span>"The Centenario is a car that perfectly combines tradition and innovation. It looks to the future while honoring the legend that is Ferruccio Lamborghini," Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement.</span></p><p><span><span>"It is the most fitting tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini in his centenary year: a man who created an exceptional brand, believed that anything was possible, and produced extraordinary, iconic cars."</span></span></p><p><span><span>In addition to the monster V-12 motor, the Centenario's body is fully decked out in lightweight carbon fiber. As a result, the new Lambo tips the scales at a relatively lithe 3,351 pounds. </span></span></p><p><span><span>The new Lambo also features an extensive aero package which includes a deployable rear spoiler and a massive underbody diffuser. The car is also equipped with four-wheel steering which Winkelmann claims will improve agility and stability. </span></span></p><p><span><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Lamborghini</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Inside the Centenario, Lamborghini continues the carbon fiber theme with the material heavily used for styling accents. The cockpit is very driver-centric with a business-like digital racing gauge cluster displayed prominently. The center stack is dominated by a massive vertically oriented connected touchscreen infotainment system. So when the adoring masses swarm to take pictures of your car, you can sit in comfort and surf the web or use Apple CarPlay. </span></span></p><p><span><span>A total of 40 Centenarios will be built - 20 coupes and 20 roadsters. </span></span></p><p><span><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Lamborghini</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>All of this innovation and tradition comes with a steep price - $1.9 million. Later this month, former Ferrari F1 boss Stefano Domenicali will takeover as Lambo's new CEO. The meanest and most powerful Lamborghini ever built has arrived

Lamborghini posted record sales in last year and is getting ready for a big 2016

Now, Audi is adding a dose of fun in the sun to its hardcore R8 V10 Plus supercar with a drop-top Spyder variant.<p>On Friday, Audi unveiled the fourth and final member of its R8 supercar lineup.</p><p><span>"The Audi R8 Spyder V10 </span>Plus<span> completes the R8 model line," Audi Sport managing director, Stephan Winkelmann, said in a statement."The Spyder is now also available as a 610 hp top version in addition to the Coupé. It benefits from our many years of experience in motorsport and combines breathtaking dynamics with the emotion of an open-top sports car."</span></p><p><span>Like the hardtop R8 V10 Plus on which it is based, the Spyder gets a 610 horsepower version of Audi's breathtaking 5.2-liter V10 engine. The glorious powerplant is also shared with its corporate sibling, the Lamborghini Huracan. </span></p><p><span></span></p><p class="source"><span>Audi</span></p>Mated to a water-cooled 7-speed twin-clutch transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive, Audi claims the V10 Plus Spyder can hit 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 203.8 mph.<p><span>Underneath the stylish bodywork lies a truly state-of-the-art Teutonic supercar. The most powerful Audi R8 convertible supercar has arrived

The latest addition to the Lamborghini family is not a completely new car, but rather variant of the company's <span>Huracán</span> LP 610-4 supercar. The biggest change Lamborghini made with the LP 580-2 is the elimination of the <span>Huracán's all-wheel-drive system. In its place, is a good old fashioned rear-wheel-drive setup. </span> </p><p>Rear-wheel drive is favored by auto enthusiasts. It's not as sure-footed as AWD, but that's where the appeal comes in. A RWD car can be lighter than AWD, and the driving dynamics are edgier and more unpredictable. Plus, Lambo's biggest competitor, Ferrari, does RWD with its rival, though outgoing, 458 mid-engine sports car, soon to be succeeded by the 488.</p><p><span> "The rear-wheel drive model fits perfectly into our Huracán family, appealing to those wanting an even more intense driving experience, or who currently drive other rear-wheel- drive marques and aspire to driving a Lamborghini, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement. "This is the purest expression of a Lamborghini to date, with class-leading technological refinements. It is a serious car for serious drivers: it is maximum driving fun."</span></p>

Lamborghini's Huracan supercar just got meaner, lighter and cheaper

For those supercar aficionados who think the regular Aventador just isn't fast, attractive, or expensive enough, Lamborghini will gladly sell you the Superveloce or SV.</p><p>In fact, with the million dollar Bugatti Veyron and Porsche 918 both out of production, the Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce assumes the role of Volkswagen Group's flagship supercar. </p><p>Now there's a convertible Aventador SV. Introduced over the weekend at Pebble Beach, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster is the fastest drop top ever produced by the Italian supercar specialists.</p><p>''The Superveloce is the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever," Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said at the press conference. Like the hard top SV, the Roadster will be powered by a monster 6.5-liter, 750 horsepower V12 engine. </span></p><p><span>This means the SV Roadster is good for 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of more than 217 mph.</span></p><p>The SV is the meanest and the most hardcore Aventador offered by Lamborghini. The Roadster is geared completely towards performance. As a result, the SV is devoid of the luxury appointments normally expected inside a big Lambo and instead is packed with weight-saving carbon fiber. </p><p>Simply put, it's a bare bones interpretation of Lamborghini speed without the added weight and distraction of luxury appointments. </p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Lamborghini</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>In addition to the SV Roadster, Lamborghini will soon add a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/lamborghini-111-million-italian-government-to-build-urus-suv-2015-5" target="_blank">crossover SUV called the Urus </a>to its lineup. <p>That's because European luxury car sales have not suffered the same plunge as more reasonably priced vehicles, and high-end automakers are reaching out to new groups of wealthy buyers in Russia, China, and the Middle East.</p>
<p>Among the dozens of car debuts, new offerings from the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, and Aston Martin stood out.</p>
<p>These eight brand new <keyword id="20632" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Cars">cars</keyword> represent the essence of the supercar market: They are incredibly powerful, incredibly luxurious, and incredibly expensive. And they're all beautiful.</p>

A New Generation Of Supercars Was Born At The Geneva Motor Show

<p>Lamborghini has come up with something special: The fastest Gallardo, ever.</p>
<p>The full royal name of this latest offering is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse.</p>
<p>It's derived from the <span id="N598">Blancpain Super Trofeo</span> race car, and little has been changed.</p>
<p>The new Gallardo and the Blancpain have the same 5.2-liter V10 engine, which generates an enormous 570 horsepower.</p>
<p>But the newcomer has one huge advantage over its father figure: It's street legal.</p>
<p id="N598">Lamborghini has announced a <span id="N598">€191,100</span> ($<span style="word-break: break-all;">253,303</span>) plus tax price tag for the Squadra Corse, and a limited production run (no word on just how many models will be built).</p>
<p>And although you can take it for trips to the grocery store, please head to the track before putting the more than 500 horsepower to use.</p>

<p>Instead of putting the topless supercar on stage, Lamborghini took over a runway at Miami International Airport yesterday, where it raced five of the new Aventadors at 210 mph.</p>
<p>That's 30 mph faster than the speed of a large passenger jet at takeoff.</p>
<p>The airport fun was followed by a 50-vehicle parade down Collins Avenue in South Beach.</p>
<p>The Italian automaker noted that the airport takeover was authorized by the FAA and that thanks to careful planning, no flights were affected.</p>
<p>The Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, which comes with a $445,300 price tag, has 700 horsepower and goes from 0 to 60 mph in just under three seconds.</p>

Lamborghini Took Over Miami's Airport To Show Off Its New Topless Supercar

<p>Named for a legendary fighting bull, the Veneno checks off all the supercar must-haves: Carbon fiber body construction, a striking body style made with aerodynamics in mind, and an eye-popping price tag.</p>
<p>At $3.9 million, the Veneno is the most expensive Lamborghini ever built and is among history's priciest production <keyword id="20632" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Cars">cars</keyword>.</p>
<p>Its 6.5-liter, 12-cylinder engine will produce a whopping 750 horsepower, enough to send the car from from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, and up to a top speed of 220 mph.</p>
<p>The new Lambo is street legal, but only the luckiest of car lovers will ever have the chance to see one in the flesh: Only three will be produced. Not surprisingly, they have already been sold.</p>
<p>The car on display in Geneva is a prototype, and will not be sold, <a href="http://money.cnn.com/gallery/autos/2013/03/04/lamborghini-veneno/3.html">according to CNN Money</a>.</p>

At the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/geneva-motor-show-2015-2015-2" target="_blank">2015 Geneva Motor Show</a>, Lamborghini just introduced an Aventador that wants the world to notice something else: raw speed and the capacity to be driven and driven well.</p><p>Christened the "Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce," this incarnation of the Raging Bull is the meanest and most hardcore yet.</p><p><span>"The new Aventador Superveloce continues the Lamborghini tradition of (Superveloce) SV models, pushing the boundaries in terms of performance and pure driving emotion," Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said. </span></p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The Aventador SV is a car that's focused purely on the art of going fast with out any of the unnecessary frills of its less intense siblings. Think of the SV as an unplugged album - a return to the fundamentals of speed.</p><p>At the heart of the SV is a redesigned version of the Aventador's traditional 6.5-liter V12. This time, the massive powerplant produces an impressive 750 horsepower, with power transferred to the road through Lambo's permanent all-wheel-drive system. </p><p>Lamborghini also put the Aventador on a carbon-fiber diet - shedding 110 pounds of weight in the process. And Lambo engineers fitted the SV with lightweight forged wheels and giant carbon ceramic brakes.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The result is a terrifying fast road racer capable of hitting 62 mph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds, reaching a top speed greater than - Gulp! - 217 mph!</p><p>Inside the SV, the cockpit is all business. Most of the standard Aventador's luxury features have been stripped away to save weight. In fact, parts of the Lambo's normally unseen carbon-fiber monocoque are now visible. </p><p>Occupants inside the SV enjoy a pair of lightweight seats upholstered with a carbon fiber fabric and a old-school electronic racing dashboard. </p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Like the interior, the exterior of the Aventador SV definitely favors function over form. Here, Lamborghini has beefed up all of the supercar's aerodynamics to provide optimal road-holding ability to its drivers. In fact, the SV is more aerodynamically efficient and offers 170% more downforce, compared to the standard Aventador. Meet the baddest Lamborghini in all the land - the Aventador Superveloce

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Wikimedia Commons</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>A disgruntled Tesla owner took delivery of his brand new Model S last week and promptly smashed its windshield with a wrench, <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/chinarealtime/2014/06/27/disgruntled-chinese-customer-gets-new-tesla-smashes-it/" target="_blank">reports the Wall Street Journal</a>.</p>
<p>The owner, Yu Xin Quan, a Chinese e-commerce entrepreneur, reportedly destroyed his $170,000 car's windshield to protest what he called "Tesla's arrogance." </p>
<p>For the past few months, Mr. Yu has been the outspoken leader of a group of Chinese Tesla customers who had their orders delayed due to a series of production, logistical, and legal issues. While most were placated by a meeting with the company's CEO, Elon Musk, in April, Mr. Yu continued his voice his dissatisfaction.</p>
<p>The disgruntled owner expected to be one of the first in China to take delivery of the Model S when he placed his order last October. He became furious at Tesla earlier this year when he discovered that his car had not even been built when others in the country had already received their cars.</p>
<p>To ameliorate the situation, Tesla offered to put special edition decals on the car and install charging equipment at his home free of charge. The company even offered Mr. Yu the use of one of its showroom display vehicles for a month while he awaited the arrival of his bespoke Model S.</p>
<p>But Yu rejected the proposal, telling the WSJ that the showroom car just wouldn't be the same has own. "I feel like I just married a woman who has been married," said Yu. </p>
<p>Though most will view such behavior with utter incredulity, the purposeful destruction of expensive toys is not so uncommon in China. It can be attributed to variety of causes, from the growing demand of Chinese consumers on customer service to the entitled mindset of China's elite, to the inadequacy of the country's civil litigation process.</p>
<p>Whatever the reason, here are a couple of the more famous examples where Chinese owners of expensive cars have destroyed them in protest:</p>
<p><strong>Maserati Quattroporte: May 2013</strong></p>

The man was reportedly upset over a botched repair at the company's dealership. The owner accused the shop of overcharging him while using second-hand parts.</span></p>

According to GT Spirit, the Gallardo, which retailed in China at the time for $529,000 to $757,000, failed to start on delivery and suffered damage to its bodywork and suspension during delivery. The owner was unsuccessful in his attempts to resolve the issue by contacting Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann. </span></p>

A Chinese Man Smashed His Brand New Model S To Protest 'Tesla's Arrogance'

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Audi</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Audi had a banner year last year.</p><p>The German automaker sold more than 200,000 cars in the US for the first time in its history - reaching this milestone three years ahead of schedule.</p><p> Audi's surging sales were led by the strong performance of its A3 compact sedan as well as the Q3 and Q5 crossover SUVs.</p><p>Leading the charge for the company is Audi of America president Scott Keogh.</p><p>The 46 year-old from Long Island, New York has been Audi's top man in the US for more than three years in which time the company has experienced record growth.</p><p>Keogh sat down with Business Insider at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in las Vegas. We talked about everything from the prospect for a slowdown in US sales, to plans to launch an electric SUV, and parent company Volkswagen's emissions scandal. </p><p><strong>On the US auto market in 2016</strong>:</p><p><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/us-auto-industry-set-new-sales-record-2016-1" target="_blank">The auto industry in the US, as a whole, had a banner year in 2015,</a> with 17.5 million automobiles rolling out of dealer showrooms - a feat that had never been accomplished before.</p><p>"Looking at the macro view of the American car market, I think it's still good," Keogh said. "Fuel prices and interest rates, while climbing, are still extremely low and if you look at the age of most fleets out there you are still looking at a 10 to 11 year old vehicle population so there will room for movement there."</p><p>However, the Audi executive a cautioned that the strong performance of the industry in 2015 will likely seen growth rates slow down.</p><p>"I think we should not be naive, though," Keogh said. "The market just broke a record for sales and I don't think we are going to see the type of growth rates we've been seeing."</p><p>"Since the market hit rock bottom in 2008-2009, we've seen these great growth rates," he added. "There's no way that's going to continue when the market is already at 17.5 million cars."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="Audi" title_caption="Audi A4." class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/559315be6bb3f7c44aca628e-960/audi-a4-20-tfsi-quattro-4.jpg"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span></a><p class="source"><span>Audi</span></p><p class="caption">Audi A4.</p></div><p></p></div></div>As a result, Keogh believes there will be a tighter market in the coming year and will force car companies to step up their game in terms of product, service and strategy.</p><p><strong>On what car companies need to do to succeed in a tighter market</strong>:</p><p>"Tighter markets mean they will have to have good discipline," Keogh said."Take care of customers, generate good demand from marketing, hopefully have fresh products to drive people into dealerships, don't get over supplied with inventory, and hang on to your pricing power."</p><p>"These are crucial fundamentals which you will have to hang on to, and Audi will certainly do that," he added.</p><p> <strong>On Audi's electric vehicle charging infrastructure</strong>:</p><p>In 2018, Audi will launch a long-range electric SUV based on the company's much-hyped E-Tron Quattro Concept. Although the new SUV is expected to a range of 270 to 300 miles on a single charge, Audi will have to satisfy the needs of its customers for fast charging both at home and remotely. </p><p>According to Keogh, effective fast charging at home will take care of the needs of most customers due to the fact that 300 miles of electric range will be for than sufficient to hand most daily driving needs. </p><p>However, Keogh does believe the availability of remote charging locations is very important.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="Newspress" title_caption="Audi E-Tron Quattro Concept." class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55fc5954bd86ef1a008bb729-960/news-2015-audi-iaa-e-tron-quattro.jpg"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span></a><p class="source"><span>Newspress</span></p><p class="caption">Audi E-Tron Quattro Concept.</p></div><p></p></div></div>"The biggest thing for me for those who purchase our EVs is peace of mind," Keogh said. "When someone is looking at a gasoline powered car, they have no concerns at all [about finding a place to fill up] and we have to overcome those concerns with EVs."</p><p>On that end, Audi is working with Bosch to install in-home charging system along with a network of supercharging stations.</p><p><strong>On concerns of about cuts to Audi's R&amp;D budget after VW's emissions scandal</strong>:</p><p>With Audi's parent company VW Group cutting back on spending due to the massive emissions scandal, there have been concerns about how this will effect the research and development of the company's next generation of cars. Although Audi has become more cautious in its spending for 2016 and has delayed the construction of a new wind tunnel, Keogh does not believe there is cause of concern.</p><p>"If you look at the big picture, the majority of the money needed for the new products have already been [invested on them] and [the new cars] are coming," Keogh said. </p><p>Furthermore, Keogh doesn't believe Audi will feel much of a financial pinch when it comes to R&amp;D.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Audi</span></p><p class="caption">Audi R8 V10</p></div><p></p></div></div>"Audi is a very profitable and very successful company and any good business person knows you put good money into good and keep investing in what's successful," he added. "And I feel confident that's what Audi AG will do."</p><p><strong>On the role Quattro and Audi Sport will play in Audi's strategy</strong>:</p><p>Recently, VW Group announced that long-time Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann will leave Lambo to lead Audi Sport's Quattro performance division. Although Keogh couldn't say if Winkelmann's move has any direct correlation with the company's plans for the brand, he did indicate Quattro and Audi Sport will play a much bigger role in the company's product portfolio.</p><p>"You going to see a lot more high performance 'RS' models from Audi Sport in the US," Keogh said. "We think this is a brand we haven't taken enough advantage of."</p><p>"Although we've done well with the RS cars, now we want to do better," he said. "We are working this dealerships to do this and also offer a more aggressive product portfolio."</p><p>Currently, the only Audi Sport models offered in the US are the R8 supercar and the RS 7 four-door coupe. Keogh expects those models to be joined by other high performance variants such as the TTRS and more than likely the RS3 compact. </p><p>Keogh also working to get the much-sought-after RS6 Avant wagon to the US market in the future.</p><p><strong>On the role "RS" will play in competition with BMW Motorsports and Mercedes-AMG</strong>:</p><p>When asked whether an expanded portfolio of high performance RS models will give Audi a full-fledged counterpart to BMW's M car and Mercedes' AMG, Keogh answer with a firm "yes".</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="Audi" title_caption="Audi RS7." class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/56296213bd86ef17008c404d-960/a1510797_large.jpg"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span></a><p class="source"><span>Audi</span></p><p class="caption">Audi RS7.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Furthermore, he added, that Audi has taken a different approach to its high performance brand than their German counterparts in that the company has spent much more time delivering racing success and not enough time capitalizing on the commercial aspects of the racing image.</p><p>"We spent so much on the authenticity of Audi Sports and the racing of Audi Sport that we forgot to commercialize Audi Sport and take advantage of the success we've had," Keogh said.
