Shortly after the inauguration, Modi accompanied by Lofven and Sipila went around the mega pavilions to view the best examples of India's skill and expertise in innovation, design, sustainability in different sectors ranging from automobiles to defence to space-tech. <br />

This will be followed by a formal launch of the flagship event 'Make In India Week' at the NSCI Grounds later this evening which will promote India as the "preferred manufacturing destination" globally. <br />
<br />
During the week (February 13-18), the event will offer immense access and opportunities to connect with Indian and global industry leaders, the central and state governments and other stakeholders. <br />

Enabling this effort would be a series of state investment seminars from across India, around 20 Sector Seminars focusing on key focus areas, group and panel discussions on policies, ease of doing business, foreign  direct investment, intellectual property rights, national manufacturing and related topics, several exhibitions and other events. <br />

It has not initiated a nationwide lockdown to flatten the curve. Instead, Sweden seems to be pinning its hopes on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sweden-coronavirus-strategy-explained-culture-of-trust-and-obedience-2020-4">herd immunity</a> to stop the transmission of the virus through mass infection.</p><p>The idea is, if more people are infected and obtain antibodies, people will eventually gain immunity to the virus. The country has kept restaurants, schools, and gyms open, while urging its residents to social distance and wash their hands.</p><p>In the United States, the Trump administration has refused to set nationwide distancing rules, leading to scattershot lockdown and reopening efforts.</p><p>States across the US issued stay-at-home orders back in March, and several governors are starting to reopen businesses — which, if done too early, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/state-coronavirus-cases-show-too-soon-to-reopen-2020-5">could put residents at risk of COVID-19 surges</a>. Some people calling for economic reopenings, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/anti-vaxxers-oppose-a-coronavirus-vaccine-that-doesnt-exist-2020-5">as well as anti-vaccine advocates</a>, have pushed for herd immunity as a way out.</p><p>But scientists have called it dangerous rhetoric, saying that in the years people would have to wait for herd immunity to be achieved, hundreds of thousands more people could die from COVID-19. And beyond that, it remains unknown if <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-antibodies-cant-guarantee-long-term-immunity-who-said-2020-4">antibodies from COVID-19 even result in longterm immunity</a>.</p><h2>No country in the world has reached herd immunity to COVID-19</h2><p>Data suggests that no place on Earth has reached herd immunity to the coronavirus — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nowhere-close-to-herd-immunity-for-coronavirus-2020-5">less than 10% of the world has been exposed to the virus</a>, according to estimates.</p><p>Experts say <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-covid-19-herd-immunity-2020-4">herd immunity requires 50 to 70% of the population to be exposed to the virus</a>. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/who-coronavirus-may-never-go-away-vaccine-years-off-2020-5">Business Insider's Hilary Brueck</a> reported that without a vaccine it could take four to five years to reach that point.</p><p><div type="image" title="coronavirus protest bill gates anti-vaccine" height="1200" width="1800" msid="75768373" hostid="261"></div></p><p>In those four or five years, hundreds of thousands of more people could die from COVID-19. And scientists are still uncertain if a COVID-19 infection even leads to immunity.</p><p>As of Friday morning, Sweden, which has a population of 10.23 million, had 29,207 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 3,646 deaths from the virus — a death rate of 35.64 deaths per 100,000 people.</p><p>The US, meanwhile, has had 1.45 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 86,607 deaths from the virus. With a population of 328.2 million, it has a death rate of 26.3 deaths per 100,000 people.</p><h2>Health officials have called the concept of herd immunity 'dangerous'</h2><p>Epidemiologists at Johns Hopkins University has called the concept herd immunity a <a href="https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/from-our-experts/early-herd-immunity-against-covid-19-a-dangerous-misconception">"dangerous misconception,"</a> and said the US remains vulnerable to the virus. The World Health Organization, too, criticized the idea of herd immunity on Monday.</p><p>"This idea that, 'well, maybe countries who had lax measures and haven't done anything will all of a sudden magically reach some herd immunity, and so what if we lose a few old people along the way?' This is a really dangerous, dangerous calculation," <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/herd-immunity-few-people-have-had-the-coronavirus-who-2020-5">WHO's Executive Director of Health Emergencies Mike Ryan said</a>.</p><p><div type="image" title="Sweden coronavirus" height="1200" width="1800" msid="75768375" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Ryan told reporters that humans "are not herds," and such plans around building immunity would only lead to more death.</p><p>"I think we need to be really careful when we use terms in this way around natural infections in humans, because it can lead to a very brutal arithmetic which does not put people, and life, and suffering at the center of that equation," he said.</p><h2>The creator of Sweden's coronavirus plan even said even he isn't convinced it's working</h2><p>The architect behind Sweden's coronavirus plan even said <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-sweden-no-lockdown-anders-tegnell-not-convinced-right-call-2020-5">he's not sure if the relaxed approach is working</a>.</p><p>"I'm not convinced at all," Anders Tegnell, Sweden's state epidemiologist, <a href="https://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/samhalle/a/70O6kV/tegnell-darfor-har-fler-dott-i-sverige-an-i-ovriga-norden">told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet</a> on May 1.</p><p>On Tuesday, Sweden even changed one aspect of its COVID-19 strategy, after seeing a high <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sweden-coronavirus-strategy-explained-culture-of-trust-and-obedience-2020-4">death rate in Swedish nursing homes</a>. Prime Minister Stefan Lofven's office <a href="https://www.thelocal.se/20200512/sweden-rolls-out-billion-kronor-cash-boost-for-elderly-care">announced that it would spend about $220 million (2.2 billion kronor)</a> to help protect elderly people in nursing homes from the novel coronavirus.</p><p><div type="image" title="sweden coronavirus outdoors" height="1467" width="2200" msid="75768378" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Sweden and the US are both among the top 10 countries with the highest number of deaths per capita from COVID-19, <a href="https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/">according to data from Satista</a>. Based on the data, Canada has nearly half the death rate of the US, at 15.1 deaths per 100,000 people.</p><p>And while Sweden is more densely populated than other Nordic countries, its neighbors' death rates per capita are much lower — Norway has a rate of 4.32 deaths per 100,000 people, and Finland has a rate of 5.2.</p><p>Other nations, including Spain and Italy, have higher death rates per capita than the US and Sweden. <a href="https://www.vox.com/2020/4/1/21203198/coronavirus-deaths-us-italy-china-south-korea">Both countries have older populations</a>, which affects the death rate, along with other factors such as testing availability.</p><p><a href="https://sph.umich.edu/faculty-profiles/martin-emily.html">Emily Toth Martin</a>, an associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health told <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/anti-vaxxers-oppose-a-coronavirus-vaccine-that-doesnt-exist-2020-5">Business Insider reporter Anna Medaris Miller</a> that the only way to gain herd immunity from the virus is through a vaccine.</p><p>"This is not just about getting through the current crisis," she added. <p>In <a href="http://www.haaretz.com/mobile/1.623505?v=0DAE26AE08F88CF48DE0C1087B30B5ED">his swearing-in earlier this month</a>, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven pledged his government would eventually recognize a Palestinian state. Soon after the Israeli government found out, it summoned the Swedish ambassador to protest the move, <a href="http://www.haaretz.com/mobile/1.623505?v=0DAE26AE08F88CF48DE0C1087B30B5ED">according</a> to Haaretz.</p>
<p>Sweden went forward however, making the formal announcement on Thursday "as an important step that confirms the Palestinians' right to self-determination," according to a statement.</p>
<p>"We hope that we can make the parties a little less unequal," Wallstrom <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/bestoftv/2014/10/30/exp-margot-wallstrom-sweden-recognizes-palestine.cnn.html">told</a> CNN. "[and] that we might inject some new dynamics into the suspended peace talks."</p>

This would be bad news for Europe as well as Britain. She also said she would terminate Britain's membership of the free-trade area to have full control over immigration from the European Union.</p><p>This was confirmed by Chancellor Philip Hammond, who told the House of Commons on Tuesday morning that Britain would no longer be in the European single market once the Brexit deal is finalised. "We will go forward understanding we cannot be members of the single market," he said on Tuesday.</p><h2>Why the Single Market is Britain's "top priority"</h2><p>Khan will say in his speech that "securing privileged access to the Single Market must be the top priority for the negotiations. It's critical for London. Nothing else will do. It can't be brushed aside - as it was yesterday."</p><p><a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/britain-and-the-city-of-london-could-lose-eu-passport-rights-2016-9">The loss of passporting rights following Brexit is one of the biggest fears in the City of London.</a></p><p>If the passport is taken away, then London could cease to be the most important financial centre in Europe, costing the <keyword id="6354868" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="UK">UK</keyword> thousands of jobs and billions in revenues. Similar updates were <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/may/21/sweden-distributes-be-prepared-for-war-cyber-terror-attack-leaflet-to-every-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">given</a> to local and national government officials until 1991.</p><p>"The purpose of the brochure is to help us become better prepared for everything from serious accidents, extreme weather and IT attacks, to military conflicts," the pamphlet says. "If something happens to these systems we will have problems," Andersson said.</p><p>The pamphlet outlines a number of ways to prepare for emergency situations, such as storing nonperishable food and clean drinking water, providing heat, and maintaining communications with family, friends, and authorities.</p><p>It also cautions Swedes to "be on the lookout for false information."</p><p>"States and organisations are already using misleading information in order to try and influence our values and how we act," the pamphlet says. Anthony Housey/Minnesota National Guard</span></p><p class="caption">A Swedish Leopard 2A5 tank screens the wood line while scouting possible American and opposing forces' antitank positions during a simulated battle near Stockholm, Sweden September 23, 2017.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The pamphlet is being reissued amid heightened tensions between Russia and other countries in Europe.</p><p>It is "<span>yet another signal that the security situation in Northern Europe has changed dramatically since 2014," when Russia intervened militarily in Ukraine, said Magnus Nordenman, director of the Transatlantic Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council. </span></p><p><span>It is another sign "that the Swedish government is moving in many ways to up Sweden's capacity to defend itself," he told Business Insider.</span></p><p>The country's location - 200 miles from the Russian Baltic Sea outpost of Kaliningrad - and geography, especially its long, rugged coastline, make military assault a particular concern.</p><p>In early 2014, Russian bombers conducted <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/david-cenciotti-russia-simulated-a-massive-aerial-attack-2013-4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a simulated attack</a> on Sweden. In 2014, Sweden <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/russia-foreign-ministry-launches-misguided-attack-on-sweden-handling-of-submarine-sighting-2015-4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> intrusions by <a href="https://www.politico.eu/article/sweden-is-fighting-intruders-naked/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unidentified subs</a>; some officials blamed Russia, though Moscow denied involvement. (Like other Western navies, Swedish antisubmarine capability has atrophied since the Cold War.) Swedish planes have had <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/sweden-summons-russian-envoy-over-fighter-jet-encounter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">close encounters</a> with Russian planes over the Baltic, where Russian ships have <a href="https://www.vice.com/sv/article/dpwk4q/why-is-russian-military-hanging-out-on-swedish-territory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">threatened</a> Swedish vessels.</p><p>Stockholm has also stepped up international cooperation, performing <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/finland-norway-sweden-b-52-air-force-russia-ace-17-2017-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">military exercises</a> and expanding <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nordic-countries-boost-defense-cooperation-over-concerns-about-russia-2017-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">partnerships</a> with its Nordic neighbors, and worked closely with NATO - domestic support for joining the defense alliance has <a href="https://www.politico.eu/article/under-threat-sweden-rediscovers-its-viking-spirit-nato-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grown considerably</a>, despite the country's traditional non-aligned stance.</p><p>Sweden has also boosted military spending, reinstated military conscription for the first time since 2010, and <a href="https://www.politico.eu/article/under-threat-sweden-rediscovers-its-viking-spirit-nato-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stationed</a> troops on the island of Gotland in the Baltic for the first time in a decade.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/59b97f0a5124c9b37328af59-800/fearing-russia-sweden-holds-biggest-war-games-in-20-years-2017-9.jpg" border="0" alt="Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, Micael Byden, talks with U.S. soldiers during the joint NATO exercise 'Aurora 17' at Save airfield in Goteborg, Sweden September 13, 2017. Growing support for joining NATO among opposition parties has put pressure on the center-left government of Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, of the Social Democratic Party, who has consistently said there are no plans to join the defense bloc.</p><p>But a change in government or in the makeup of the governing coalition may not alter the focus on national defense.</p><p>There is a "broad political consensus" on matters of defense, Nordenman said. There has been less division over increased military spending and more "of a discussion of how much more should they get," he added.</p><p>"I think broadly speaking [Swedes] are accepting" of their role in the total-defense concept, including the likelihood the public would face the first few days or weeks after a disaster or outbreak of conflict on their own, until national and international assistance could be mobilized. Nordenman compared that delay to the time typically needed for disaster-response efforts elsewhere, such as in the US after hurricanes.</p><p>"I don't think that Swedes are laying awake at night thinking that war may come tomorrow," he said, even though "there certainly is a sense that" Russia is being more assertive. More than 30 countries <a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/islamic-state-paris-conference-today-to-discuss-antiisis-global-strategy-9732540.html" target="_blank">will convene in Paris on Monday to discuss a strategy for defeating Islamic State militants</a>.</strong> U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will try to gather support to carry out airstrikes against the Jihadist group. </p>
