There are other pockets of Europe where financial startups also seem to thrive.</p>
<p>Many of these companies are working at the intersection of tech and finance. Some are aiming to market a product to everyone, some just to businesses, and some to the biggest banks and financial institutions.</p>
<p>What's common among all the companies is that they're actively making their own markets, fulfilling demand where there previously might have been none - especially since the financial crisis in 2008. But they're all offering something new, exciting, and financially promising.</p>

Europe's 15 Most Innovative Finance Startups

And they aren't stopping there. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">However, they can't do it without some expertise. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">There are already some executives from firms like JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs who quit Wall Street's cushy expense-account and chauffeured-car world for the less comfortable and predictable lifestyle of launching a new company.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/20-startups-out-to-create-a-new-world-order-on-wall-street-2015-7">Business Insider took a look at the 20 startups</a> that are breaking down walls on Wall Street and pushing a new world order. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">This means pushing into cryptocurrency, business, and consumer lending operations and trading floor technology among other businesses. Some are tiny, others are backed by hundreds of millions of dollars in investment capital  - and sometimes, from big banks themselves. </span></p>

Finance startups are targeting big banks' top talent

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Wall Street banks have had enough of personal finance&#xa0;apps scraping their data.&#xa0;<p>The Wall Street Journal's Robin Sidel&#xa0;<a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/big-banks-lock-horns-with-personal-finance-web-portals-1446683450">reports that&#xa0;Mint.com's personal finance app has been 'throttled,'</a>&#xa0;or, that data being shared with the app is being restricted.&#xa0;<br><br>These apps give users a way to put all their financial data on one place - drawing information from accounts at multiple firms.<br><br>The point is convenience. Mint, for example, pitches itself as a way to&#xa0;pull&#xa0;"<span>all your financial information into one place, so you can finally get the entire picture</span>&#xa0;."</br></br></br></br></p><p>Wells Fargo has "<span>added an additional level of security to its accounts last month that prevented aggregators from being able to automatically retrieve customer data, according to a person familiar with the matter," according to the Journal's story. </span></p><p><span>JPMorgan also restricted&#xa0;access to&#xa0;Mint, the Journal reported. O</span>ther personal finance apps&#xa0;have also been impacted by big banks' 'throttling,' as well, Business Insider has learned. Venus Williams is backing a hot new finance startup

New Delhi, Feb 26 () Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated Baroda Startup Banking, an initiative aimed at making the bank a preferred banking partner for the start-up community and establishing connect with at least 2,000 start-ups over the next two years.<p> The initiative was launched simultaneously across 15 cities in the country.</p><p> It will include 15 Baroda Startup branches that will offer a bouquet of tailor-made banking products and services that have been designed keeping in mind the unique and specialized banking requirements of start-ups, Kumar said after the inauguration here.</p><p> The products include customised current accounts, state-of-the-art payments gateways, corporate credit cards, corporate salary accounts and credit facilities apart from other existing products of the bank, he said.</p><p> In addition to end-to-end banking solutions for start-ups, the bank will also ensure that it meets the ancillary needs of start-ups by partnering with marquee service providers to assist start-ups by way of cloud credits, mentorship, co-working space, legal/accounting services and other support services, he said.</p> Proactive steps by the government, including fiscal incentives made available in the 2019 Budget, support from corporates and academia, a huge talented young workforce ready to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit and active participation of global investors have helped make the start-up ecosystem in the country more conducive to growth, he said. Finance Secretary launches Baroda Startup Banking in 15 cities

The National Association for Software and Services Companies (<keyword id="6372077" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nasscom">NASSCOM</keyword>) says direct and indirect taxes hurt <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> and the industry body has asked for <keyword id="3197739" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax-exemptions-for-startups">tax exemptions for startups</keyword>.<br />
<br />
NASSCOM, in pre-budget recommendations, has asked the finance ministry to weed out taxes, including minimum alternative tax, angel tax as these hurt startups.<br />
<br />
"Policy regulations like ease of compliance, reliance on self-certification instead of audits, tax exemptions for startups will allow entrepreneurs to devote their time, energy and resources to build upon their innovative ideas," said R Chandrashekhar, president of NASSCOM.<br />
<br />
The industry body also wants exemption from capital gain tax on income from sales of startups.<br />

Prior to Algomi, this was done through speculative phone calls wasting a lot of time. It's service is currently used by nine banks, including some of the world's biggest.  The startup, founded in 2012, has offices in New York, Hong Kong, San Francisco and Chicago, and is planning a major push into the US.">earmarked as a potential fintech "unicorn"</a> - has left the company.</p><p>A spokeswoman for the firm confirmed to Business Insider that Stephen Gallagher, who <a href="http://finextra.com/news/announcement.aspx?pressreleaseid=52931">joined Algomi in 2013</a>, "has left the business to pursue other opportunities and spend more time with his family in Florida."</p><p>Gallagher had been commuting from Florida to New York each week, the spokeswoman said.</p><p>He has overseen the expansion of the firm in the US from one person to 20, and the move into a new office earlier this year at Lexington Avenue and 57th Street.</p><h2>Honeycomb</h2><p>Algomi runs what it calls a Honeycomb Network, which allows investors to see which dealer is best placed to make corporate-bond trades happen. Bank dealers enter potential bond transactions into a secure network, which then matches those trades and suggests similar bond trades.</p><p>It works with over 100 buy-side clients, according to the firm, and more than 10 investment banks. It has also <a href="http://www.algomi.com/news">won a number of awards from financial titles</a>.</p><p>The US is a key market for the firm, and it has been hiring in the country. It said in September it was particularly focused on recruiting technology professionals and client service specialists and that it had plans to develop services tailored to the US market.</p><p>In September the firm said it had signed a leading US-based investment bank.</p><p>The firm's chief executive, Stu Taylor, said then: "As the largest single fixed-income market globally, the United States is a priority for the majority of clients."</p><p>Gallagher said at the time: "This new facility is a testament to the business we've grown in the States and our ambition to be even bigger and better in the future. <p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>"The Break Up"</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Algomi, an information platform that was once touted as a potential fintech "unicorn," has suffered a big blow to its US ambitions.</span></p><p><span>Deutsche Bank, Algomi's biggest client, has all but stopped using the service in the US, according to two people familiar with the matter.</span></p><p><span>The German bank is still using Algomi in Europe, the people said.</span></p><p>Algomi runs what it calls a Honeycomb Network, a kind of social network for bond market participants, making trading information available to traders, salespeople and investors. It works with over 100 buy-side clients, according to the firm, and more than 10 investment banks. The company declined to comment.</p><p>Deutsche Bank has a global contract with Algomi, rather than a regional arrangement, and Algomi is still receiving data from Deutsche Bank in the US, according to people familiar with the matter.</p><p>The bank is still evaluating the use of Algomi in the US, according to one person familiar with the matter. </p><p>Still, having a key client in the US all but stop using the service is a big setback for London-based Algomi, which has big ambitions for the market.</p><p>It<span> grew its team in the US from one person to 20, and moved into a new office last year in New York. </span>It said in September it was particularly focused on recruiting technology professionals and client service specialists and that it had plans to develop services tailored to the US market.</p><p>Then, in November, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/stephen-gallagher-has-left-algomi-2015-11">head of its US business, Stephen Gallagher, left to pursue other opportunities</a>. He still hasn't been replaced, and the search for a new head is continuing, according people familiar with the matter.</p><p>The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/algomi-cuts-10-of-global-workforce-2015-11?r=UK&amp;IR=T">firm also cut 10% of its global workforce</a> in November last year.</p><p>Algomi CEO Stu Taylor sent BI this statement at the time of the job cuts:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Algomi has reached the next level of maturity and will be EBITDA profitable mid 2016 based on recent revenue growth and the huge numbers of client sign up we achieved in 2015 - over 140 buy side and 14 banks plus 2 exchanges are confirmed Algomi clients.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">The recent headcount adjustment merely accelerates our move to the next level of financial strength. The DIPP has proposed that the period for long-term capital gains for unlisted securities should be reduced from the current limit of 24 months which can lead to higher investments.<br />

The DIPP has proposed that the employee stock option plans (ESOPs) for startups should be taxed at the time of sale of these stocks. Larger startups can now rejoice since this would provide them with transparency from a valuation perspective as well as further boost their liquidity from a tax outflow perspective.<br />

<strong>• Tax holiday period</strong><br />
