New Delhi, May 15 () The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Friday said it has rolled out a set of detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for its over 3,800 service centres across 1,914 cities in the country, amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The SOPs adhere to all the advisories and guidelines stipulated by the state and central governments, and are devised to ensure safety and wellbeing of the customers and staff, MSI said in a statement. "The company is committed to taking every possible effort to ensure the safety of customers visiting the service centres," MSI Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said. With social distancing as the new normal, the company encourages its customers to avail convenience and safety of doorstep services such as – 'Service on Wheels' and 'Pick and Drop', he added. With these service initiatives, customers need not step out of their homes for car servicing, Ayukawa said. As per approval from competent authorities, more than 2,000 MSI workshops are already active to take care of customer service needs across 1,100 cities, the statement said. MSS RVK

Delhi Capitals request BCCI for COVID-19 vaccination of their Indian players

New Delhi, Apr 16 () The Union Agriculture Ministry on Thursday laid down the standard operating procedure (SOP) to guide farmers on safety precautions that need to be strictly followed during planting of kharif crops amid the threat of COVID-19 pandemic. Paddy is the main kharif (summer) crop, besides pulses, oilseeds and commercial crops like cotton and sugarcane. The sowing of kharif crops has already begun in some parts. "Transplanting of paddy and vegetables are labour-intensive activities. Hence, strictly follow guidelines on social distancing, sanitizing and wearing masks," as per the SOP released by the ministry during the national video conference on kharif crops. Farm workers should wash their hands, legs and face with soap when coming out of the field for meal or rest, it said. For preparing land for sowing of kharif crops, the ministry said farmers should minimise labour and use tractor driven machineries. Farmers should use seed-cum-fertiliser drills and reduce the number of workers in the field. As per the SOP, social distancing and sanitization norms should be followed during field preparation, sowing and fertiliser application. "Maintain social distance at least 1-2 metre during farm operations. Workers should be assigned separate duties with regard to farm activities," it said. "All farm equipment from seed drill, plough to tractor should be sanitized before use. Those working in the farm field should wear masks or cover their face with three layers of "chunnis, gamchha or towel," it added. Each worker should have a separate utensil and clean it with soap after use, it said. For other operations like weeding and spraying of fertilisers/pesticides, the ministry said farmers or workers must follow all protocols of social distancing and sanitize the equipment. "Burn or bury in soil empty packets of pesticides. Sun dry empty bags of seeds, fertilisers for two days for re-use," the ministry said. The ministry also mentioned that after the day's work, farmers should bath and wash clothes with soap and sundry. For harvesting of rabi crops, the ministry said farmers should prefer mechanised harvesting and threshing, and maintain 4-5 metres social distancing during harvesting, threshing, packaging, eating and resting. Farmers have been asked to keep farm produce in open, preferably under sun for 48 hours before storing. Agriculture and allied activities have been exempted from the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. LUX RVK

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting releases guidelines for TV and film productions

The ICAI said its 3-hour exam is of a different pattern altogether, which have descriptive answers and not tick marks. A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna asked the ICAI to publish on its website the steps taken for students welfare with regard to COVID-19 and disposed of the petition seeking a detailed <keyword id="110048" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Standard-Operating-Procedure">Standard Operating Procedure</keyword> (SOP) for the examinees in the upcoming CA exams. The Chartered Accountant exams are scheduled to be held on November 21 to December 14. During the hearing, <keyword id="10220122" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="senior-advocate-ramji-srinivasan">senior advocate Ramji Srinivasan</keyword>, appearing for the ICAI, said that they don't have any isolation room as examination centres and don't have the facilities for doctors. He said that as directed by the top court in its last hearing, they have examined all the suggestions given by advocate Bansuri Swaraj, representing the petitioners. "There was suggestion that can we hold an online exams. Ours exams has different pattern and therefore we cannot hold the online examination", he said, adding that they test the analytical capabilities of examinees. The bench then told Swaraj that petitioners need to be reasonable in their demands and it was not satisfied with their responses. Srinivasan further said that transport and accommodation was also sought by the petitioner but that is not possible. He submitted that ICAI may request Ministry of Home Affairs to allow e-admit cards to book hotels. The bench said that it is a state specific issue as earlier when such suggestions were made, the state governments have agreed to do so. It told Swaraj that how can online exams be allowed when the answers are required to be descriptive. "How can this be allowed? Just because courts are allowing many things, you cannot keep on asking what you want. Be reasonable in your demands," the bench told the petitioner's counsel. It asked ICAI to put all the information on the grievances raised by the Petitioners on the website and disposed of the plea saying if there is any lapse it will be addressed but exams in the past have been handled well. The petitioners have contended that despite less than a month left for the commencement of examination, no steps have been taken by the authorities with respect to safety of examinees. They have claimed that no safety guidelines have been issued by ICAI on how the examinations will be held amid COVID-19 pandemic. The plea alleged that the examination will be in violation of central government guidelines which prohibits congregations of more than 100 persons at an academic institution. CA Exam 2020: ICAI tells Supreme Court the exams cannot be held online

New Delhi, The <keyword id="141925" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kendriya-Vidyalaya-Sangathan">Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan</keyword> has resumed <keyword id="6405739" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Classes">classes</keyword> for its schools as per the guidelines issued by the <keyword id="94449" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Ministry-of-Home-Affairs">Union Ministry of Home Affairs</keyword> (MHA) and <keyword id="176732" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="State-governments">state governments</keyword> across the country. According to data compiled from all the <keyword id="141924" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kendriya-Vidyalayas">Kendriya Vidyalayas</keyword> till February 11, an average of 42 per cent of class nine <keyword id="3216" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="students">students</keyword>, 65 per cent of class 10 students, 48 per cent of class 11 students and 67 per cent of class 12 students have physically attended all classes. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan started opening schools in a phased manner from October 2020. The Union Ministry of Education said these figures are dynamic and trends indicate steady growth every day. The classes for first to eight grades have also been started in some Kendriya Vidyalayas, where state governments have given permission to open schools for junior classes. Kendriya Vidyalaya schools are establishing regular contact with students and parents. Students are being allowed to attend school after prior consent of their parents. Giving information about students coming back to schools on Monday, the Sangathan said, "In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the <keyword id="162487" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Standard-Operating-Procedures">Standard Operating Procedures</keyword> (SOPs) issued by the state and Central governments are being completely followed in schools. Kendriya Vidalaya Sangathan resumes classes for 9 to 12 students as per guidelines

The <keyword id="6354705" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="directorate-general-of-civil-aviation" source="Orion">Directorate General of Civil Aviation</keyword> (<keyword id="6354787" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dgca" source="Orion">DGCA</keyword>) has asked all aircraft operators to frame Standard Operating Procedures (<keyword id="50548" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SOP" source="Orion">SOP</keyword>) for commercial flight operations to ensure safe flight procedures with no alternative destination. The circular issued by DGCA on February 20 said that the operators shall establish aerodrome-wise standard operating procedures and provide guidance to flight operations personnel to ensure safe flight procedures with no destination alternate and have the same approved by DGCA. It further reads that in a rapidly changing global economy, the international air transport industry must continuously adapt to new trends and increasingly competitive market conditions. "While technological improvements in aviation continue to increase reliability and predictability, economic and environmental concerns will continue to compel operators to use fuel more efficiently. Consequently, all operators, including those leveraging existing technologies and those investing in new technologies to meet operational challenges, should be afforded the opportunity to receive a return on their investments," the circular from DGCA read. "This circular aims to provide extended guidance material necessary to support the implementation of policy to operate flights with no destination alternate in compliance with CAR Section 8 Series O Part II," it read further. DGCA has suggested certain guidelines to formulate SOP for flights with No Destination Alternate, it says that the operators shall establish a laid down procedure for each aerodrome as approved by DGCA in order to undertake flights with No Destination Alternate. DGCA in the circular also said that the procedure is only applicable to destinations with more than one independent runway. "At least one runway should be available with an instrument approach procedure. Change over time from the primary runway to the secondary runway should be specified by the airport operator. The operator should have signed MoU with each aerodrome where they intend to undertake a flight with No Destination Alternate. All the possible non-normal scenarios and contingency plans shall be discussed at the organizational level and shall be shared with the personals involved. All the personnel involved shall be trained prior to undertake flight operations with No Destination Alternate (NDA)," it read. "Operators involved in Ultra long-range (ULR) flight operations may look into No Destination Alternate in conjunction with re-clearance flight planning in order to undertake flight operations with NDA flight. Also, necessary approval shall be taken from the local regulator along with each aerodrome. The decision to commence or continue the flight with "No Destination Alternate" lies entirely with the Pilot In Command (PIC). If circumstances so dictate, the flight will be dispatched with a Destination Alternate," it read further. DGCA asks aircraft operators to frame SOP for commercial flights with 'no destination alternate'

He said nearly 500 rooms in various hotels would be booked for the event, which will provide business to the tourism stakeholders. They allowed aircraft to move closer to each other - at the same altitude - than is typically allowed, the complaint said. With aircraft so close to each other, air traffic controllers would have "very little time and space to react and prevent a possible collision," the OSC wrote in its report.When the ARTCC managers found out about the breach in protocol, they reportedly failed to take corrective action. Instead, they rewrote the station's standard operating protocols to make them reflect the controllers' actions. The rewritten protocols did not meet FAA standards, the whistle blower complained.Although the FAA launched an investigation and corroborated the whistle blower's complaint, the agency did not do anything to change the ARTCC's procedures again, or to enforce its safety standards, according to the OSC report. The OSC reports that was the case even though controllers and supervisors interviewed as part of the investigation all called the changes "hazardous" or said the procedure change "introduces risk."The employees also described the center as having a "culture of noncompliance with certain elements of required coordination," the OSC said in a letter to the Trump administration.The OSC did not state why managers decided to change the procedure, rather than take corrective action, nor why the FAA had not acted on the results of its investigation. The FAA did not return Business Insider's request for comment.
