News</a>, Dash told Oz that she estimates she was spending between $5,000 and $10,000 a month on pills. She ultimately stopped taking the painkillers, she said, when she "almost died" from a kidney infection.</p><p>"My kidneys were so infected that my blood was septic, and my organs were shutting down," she said about the incident. "So, I got rushed to the hospital and I had to have a full blood transfusion and I was in there for three weeks. And by the grace and mercy of God, I lived."</p><p>However, after she was discharged from the hospital, Dash said she kept using drugs.</p><p>She added: "That again was when I thought, 'OK, Stacey, then give up. You can't do this life.'"</p><p>Dash said she then called her sister and her attorney for help. Soon afterward, the actress went to rehabilitation for her drug addiction. </p><h2>Dash also revealed that her parents did drugs and her mom gave her cocaine as teen</h2><p><a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1306022/clueless-stacey-dash-recalls-taking-18-to-20-pills-a-day-amid-her-addiction-battle">During the same chat with Oz</a>, Dash revealed that her parents also used drugs when she was growing up and her mother gave Dash cocaine as a teenager. </p><p>"I was a very angry, angry teenager," she told the daytime talk show host. "I became angry at I'd say around the age of 10 or 11, which is when my mother finally left my father."</p><p>Dash revealed that she's now five years sober. </p><p>"In these five years, my greatest blessing is that not only have I been able to be honest with myself and become a better person," Dash said. "I've been able to understand my parents. And that they did love me and they were doing the best they could. They were just sick."</p><p>In addition to opening up about her addiction and her parents, Dash also revealed on the show that she had been sexually abused as a little girl, but she "didn't remember" until years later when she tried to attempt suicide at 17. </p><p>In <a href="https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2059440327565966&amp;id=3337120101388158815">a Facebook post shared on Wednesday</a>, Dash called her pill addiction her "deepest, darkest secret."</p><p>"I thank the Lord for being able to say that I have grown more over the last 5 years than I have in my entire life," Dash wrote. </p><p>While Dash is best known for playing Dionne Davenport in the 1995 film "Clueless," she has attracted negative attention since at least 2015 for making disparaging <a href="https://www.etonline.com/stacey-dash-admits-to-secret-drug-addiction-says-she-was-taking-up-to-20-pills-a-day-173725">comments about trans people, feminism, and former president Barack Obama</a>.</p><p>In 2018, Dash <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2021/03/11/stacey-dash-clueless-actress-done-supporting-donald-trump/6952792002/">unsuccessfully</a> <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2021/03/11/stacey-dash-clueless-actress-done-supporting-donald-trump/6952792002/">ran for Congress in California</a> and was a vocal supporter of former president Donald Trump before ultimately rescinding her support for the politician after the January 6 Capitol Riots. </p><p>On "Dr. Oz," Dash addressed making controversial statements in the past, saying: "I'm not homophobic. "I was the angry, conservative, Black woman. And at that time in my life it was who I was."</p><p>During her tenure, Dash made shocking comments, including in 2015 when she said that then-President Barack Obama <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/fox-news-analyst-suspended-obama-terrorism-profanity-846505">didn't "give a s---" about terrorism.</a> The network suspended her for two weeks afterward. Dash also raised eyebrows when in response to the lack of diversity at the 2016 Oscars, she opined that "<a href="https://people.com/awards/stacey-dash-slams-oscar-boycott-as-ludicrous/">we need to get red of</a>" BET, a cable channel dedicated to Black culture, and its BET Awards.</p><p>Following her time at Fox News, Dash continued to grab headlines due to her political views. In 2018, while running for a seat in Congress, she went on MSNBC and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/neo-nazis-celebrate-trumps-remarks-about-charlottesville-riots-2017-8">agreed with Trump's "very fine people on both sides" comment following the Charlottesville riots the previous summer</a>.</p><div type="image" title="stacey dash clueless" height="1003" width="1885" msid="81453666" hostid="261"></div>But in the Daily Mail interview, she walks back her support of Trump.<p>"Being a supporter of Trump has put me in some kind of box that I don't belong in," she said. Five people died and more than 140 were injured.</p><p>"I think the Capitol riots were appalling," she said. "When that happened I was like 'OK, I'm done. I'm truly done,' because senseless violence of any kind I denounce. What happened on January 6 was just appalling and stupid."</p><p>Dash said that though she doesn't consider herself a feminist, she is also not the "angry Black woman" depicted on Fox News.</p><p>"There are things that I am sorry for," she said. "Things that I did say that I should not have said ... the way I said them. They were very arrogant and prideful and angry."</p><p>Dash said going forward she wants to rebuild her acting career and hopes to star in a superhero movie one day.</p>

Stacey Dash says she made 'mistakes' when she was a Fox News commentator

The rep pointed out that Dash had not appeared on the network since September.</p><p><span>NPR <keyword id="6354777" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Media">Media</keyword> Correspondent David Folkenflik <a href="https://twitter.com/davidfolkenflik/status/822515907402547202" target="_blank">broke the news on Twitter</a> Friday.</span></p><p>Dash, a Donald Trump supporter, served as a contributor to FNC since 2014, and is known for expressing her controversial views with strong language. The network had previously <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/85266361-157.html" target="_blank">suspended her in 2015</a> for profanity after she said that President Barack Obama "didn't give a s--t" about terrorism.</p><p>Last year, she once again found herself in the middle of controversy when she expressed doubt around the lack of ethnic diversity at the Oscars, and <a href="http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/stacey-dash-black-history-month-bet-elimination-1201684232/" target="_blank">called for an end</a> to the BET awards and Black History Month.</p><p>Dash is best known for playing Cher's (Alicia Silverstone) best friend in the 1995 movie "Clueless." Earlier this year, the song "<a href="https://www.tiktok.com/music/That's-Not-My-Name-6947700933694475014">That's Not My Name</a>" by The Ting Tings trended as actors including <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@drewbarrymore/video/7056818741497253166">Drew Barrymore</a>, <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@willsmith/video/7062035028708150574">Will Smith</a>, and <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@victoriajustice/video/7055376940819090735?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7152849990439929350">Victoria Justice</a> used it to reference characters they've played over the years. </p><p>As well as a general thirst for nostalgic content, Hendrix said that she thinks TikTokers love "The Parent Trap" because it speaks to so many universal things, such as divorce, sisterhood, and love.</p><p>"I think people gravitate towards that. Those themes of love and family, they're relevant to everyone. Plus, Meredith and the movie itself are so stylish and beautiful, so who wouldn't want to be her and live in that world?" she said.</p> <h2>Like many celebrities, Hendrix has found TikTok allows her to interact with fans in new ways</h2><p><a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@elaine4animals/video/6992680557985484038?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7127642013554361862">Hendrix' first ever video posted in August 2021</a> featured her and her "Dynasty" co-star Sam Underwood doing a dance challenge.</p><p>The video reached nearly one million views, and she realized that videos about her characters really seemed to resonate with viewers, so she was more than happy to keep posting content that would delight her fans.</p><p> "I love interacting with my fans and I know they really love some of those characters that I've played so it's great to be able to make videos that I know they'll have fun with and enjoy," she told Insider.</p> <p>Hendrix also engages with TikTok as a user. She follows 125 people and told Insider her favorite videos are from comedic creators or those who discuss politics and provide social commentary.</p><p>"I love the diversity on Tiktok. Social media is kind of an equalizer, right?" she said. "You have people who wouldn't otherwise have a platform — they have a platform."</p><h2>Hendrix is still getting to grips with TikTok, and is looking forward to continuing to post content</h2><p>Hendrix told insider that she wishes she understood TikTok's tools a little better so that she could get more creative with her videos.</p><p>In April, she <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@elaine4animals/video/7090525204673219883">uploaded a video</a> where she lip-synced to an audio clip from "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion," while using a scene from the movie as a greenscreen. The second-place finisher was "fake news" at 23%, closely followed by "no offense, but" with 20%.</p><p>Rounding out the top five were "literally" and "you know what I mean," at 11% and 10%, respectively.</p><p>Despite the apparent consensus around "whatever," the word actually seems to be gaining acceptability among English speakers. According to Marist, only 28% of respondents under the age of 45 voted for "whatever," while it was the choice of 40% of respondents over 45.</p><p><span>"It has been more than 20 years since 'whatever' first gained infamy in the movie </span><em>Clueless</em>," <span>Dr. Lee M. Miringoff, Director of The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, said in a statement.</span><span> "While the word irks older Americans, those who are younger might not find 'whatever' to be so annoying."</span></p><p>And the stranglehold of "whatever" may be loosening. <p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>"Saturday Night Live" is in a shaky time right now, with veteran cast members having left, but it righted the ship for its best sketch in recent memory on Saturday night.<p>If you missed the relatively short "Black Jeopardy!" sketch, which didn't get as much attention as the Tom Hanks-starring presidential debate satire, take seven minutes to change that. Funny, sharp, and topical, it's the best comedic take on the current presidential election we've seen on TV this year.</p><p>"Black Jeopardy!" has showed up on "SNL" before, usually <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VorxBhRxZGo" target="_blank">playing up the cultural differences</a> of contestants in a battle of stereotypes. That's true here, but in a Donald Trump-inspired way: Tom Hanks is the sole white contestant on the game show, wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.</p><p>But it turns out as the sketch goes on that the black contestants and host&#xa0;and the white Trump supporter have a lot in common: a distrust of authority and elections, a love of curvy women and Tyler Perry films, and an ability to get a good deal from their local "guy."</p><p>The delirious, cleverly written sketch insists that we're more alike than different as Americans. Until, that is, the biting final moment, when the final category shows up: "Lives That Matter." The black contestants look at Hanks' Trump voter awkwardly, and he stares silently.</p><p>"It was good while it lasted,"&#xa0;<span>Kenan Thompson's host says.</span></p><p><span>The sketch,&#xa0;<span>written by "Weekend Update" co-anchor Michael Che and SNL co-head writer Bryan Tucker,&#xa0;</span>leaves us to imagine what Hanks' character thinks about which lives matter, but it's a pointed jab at how class and race play important -&#xa0;and sometimes very different - roles in shaping attitudes and beliefs around the current presidential election, in which Trump has amassed support among working-class whites.</span></p><p><span>Interestingly, the sketch also has fans broadly among political thinkers and writers. The new 'SNL' 'Black Jeopardy!' is the best sketch on the show in years

<p>The hosts of Fox News' "Outnumbered" show defended the practice of men catcalling women on the street Thursday.</p>
<p>"When I was younger, I didn't like it. It used to bother me," said one host, Kirsten Powers. "Now, if it doesn't happen, I'm like, 'Excuse me?' Yeah, so now it's good."</p>
<p>Another host, Kimberly Guilfoyle, agreed.</p>
<p>"Let men be men," she said. "Men are going to be that way. What can you do? They mean it in a nice way, I think."</p>
<p>Former "Clueless" actress Stacey Dash, who <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/clueless-actress-stacey-dash-joins-fox-news-2014-5">joined Fox News in May</a>, said she's grown used to being catcalled.</p>
<p>"I'm from the South Bronx. I grew up with it. You hear it; you ignore it. Just as long as you don't come within arm's length, it's good," said Dash. "I don't mind it."</p>
<p>The hosts were responding to a controversial New York Post article, published <a href="http://nypost.com/2014/08/18/enough-sanctimony-ladies-catcalls-are-flattering/">earlier this month</a>, that told women to accept catcalling as flattering. Female writers <a href="http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2014/08/19/ny_post_writer_doree_lewak_catcalls_make_me_feel_great.html">widely condemned</a> the piece for promoting the sexual harassment of women.</p>

Wade" movie has seen plenty of on-set drama, according to The Daily Beast.</strong></li><li><strong>The original director of the movie reportedly quit on the first day of production and numerous other cast and crew have left the project.</strong></li></ul><p><br />On Tuesday, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/secret-roe-v-wade-film-now-shooting-new-orleans-1124557" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hollywood Reporter</a> revealed that a pro-life "Roe v. Wade" movie was in the works starring conservative actors Jon Voight, Robert Davi, and Stacey Dash. Now there are more details coming out about the production and its challenges.</p><p><a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/inside-roe-v-wade-a-disturbing-anti-abortion-film-featuring-milo-yiannopoulos-and-tomi-lahren?ref=wrap?ref=wrap" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Beast</a> ran a story on Friday that gave a glimpse inside the production, which is currently shooting in New Orleans under the working title, "1973," referring to the year of the Supreme Court's landmark decision that guaranteed a woman's right to an abortion.</p><p>The Daily Beast story depicts a movie in chaos, with claims from sources on set that the original director quit on the first day of shooting and that the screenwriters/producers (who have now taken over the directing reins), Nick Loeb and Cathy Allyn, have misrepresented to the cast and crew just how pro-life the project really is.</p><p>The movie is a chronicle of the Roe v. Wade decision, which has come back in the headlines recently due its questionable future with the news of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/justice-kennedy-retires-supreme-court-2018-6">Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement.</a></p><p>Actors such as Voight, Davi, Corbin Bernsen, Steve Guttenberg, and William Forsythe have been cast as Supreme Court justices. Stacy Dash, of "Clueless" fame and now a conservative pundit, will be playing Mildred Jefferson, a founder of the National Right to Life Committee.</p><p>However, other conservative actors like Kevin Sorbo and Stephen Baldwin, who were originally cast as justices, left the project after receiving the script, according to The Daily Beast.</p><p>This seems to be a recurring theme with the project: many cast and crew have reportedly walked off the movie because of its severe anti-abortion content, which includes graphic scenes showing aborted fetuses, according to The Daily Beast. These were elements many weren't aware of until they got on set, the report said.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Drew Angerer/Getty</span></p><p class="caption">Milo Yiannopoulos will reportedly have a cameo in the movie.</p></div><p></p></div></div>"That's where it started as far as not sending out full scripts to actors, because they backed out and then it was a mad rush to find people to be the Supreme Court justices, and when they got on set they had no idea what they were doing," a crew member told The Daily Beast about what happened following Sorbo and Baldwin leaving the project.</p><p>Along with the director, the site reports that the first assistant director, costumer, location manager, and several other crew members have left the project.</p><p>Loeb recalled one interaction with an upset crew member to The Hollywood Reporter when the person walked up and asked if he was the director.</p><p>"When I told her I was, she told me to go f--- myself," Loeb said. "Then she threw her headset on the ground and walked off. Al Sharpton's call for a boycott of this year's Oscars.<p>Sharpton is one of a number of critics who have <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/ap-calls-for-boycott-of-oscars-grow-over-diversity-of-nominees-2016-1">blasted the Academy Awards</a> because, for the second year in a row,&#xa0;they feature all-white acting nominees.</p><p>"Well, I think it's a tough situation. I think it's really sad. And Al is just a guy who wants to get publicity for himself. And I understand him very well," Trump said when asked about the issue on "Fox &amp; Friends."</p><p>He then apparently referenced Stacey Dash's "Fox &amp; Friends" interview earlier in the morning, in which the actress criticized the Black Entertainment Television channel for only giving awards to black recipients. ("Just like there shouldn't be a Black History Month," Dash <a href="http://mediamatters.org/video/2016/01/20/foxs-stacey-dash-there-shouldnt-be-a-black-hist/208060">explained</a>. "You know? We're Americans. Period. That's it.)</p><p>"I saw somebody on your show today say, 'What do we do with BET, Black Entertainment [Television], right?'" Trump recalled. "The whites don't get any nominations. And I thought it was an amazing interview, actually. I've never even thought of it from that standpoint."</p><p>He continued: "But with all of that being said, it would certainly be nice if everybody could be represented properly. And hopefully that's the case, but perhaps it's not the case. It's a difficult situation."</p><p>Trump was asked how comedian Chris Rock, who's hosting the Oscars this year, should react to the backlash over the nominees' lack of diversity.</p><p>"I think he'll probably say something and joke about it a little bit, and do it the way he does," he replied. "He's a great guy. I know him pretty well. He's a very good guy and a very funny guy. He'll probably make a big issue out of it, and I think that's fine. Let it be known."</p><p>He also pointed out that African-American actors have been nominated for Oscar awards in the past.</p><p>"This is not one of those years, but over the years I've seen numerous black actors and African-American actors receive Academy Awards. And I think that's great," Trump said.&#xa0;</p><p>He added: "It's a difficult situation.
