<keyword id="6358032" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="spicejet" source="Orion">SpiceJet</keyword> reported a net profit of Rs 107 crore (Rs 221 crore excluding forex adjustment) for the quarter ending December 31, 2022, as compared to a net profit of Rs 23.28 crore (Rs 20 crore excluding forex adjustment) in the quarter ending December 31, 2021. The airline on Friday said that despite a big jump in passenger traffic, business continued to be impacted by high fuel prices and the depreciating Rupee. The total revenue for the reported quarter was Rs 2,794 crore as against Rs 2,679 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. For the same comparative period, operating expenses were Rs 2,687 crore as against Rs 2,579 crore. <keyword id="6357826" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ajay-singh" source="Orion">Ajay Singh</keyword>, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said, "I am happy that SpiceJet has reported a profit in Q3 FY2023. We exceeded our operational targets and continued with our unmatched performance clocking the highest load factor for every single month in 2022. The profits have been driven by a strong performance in both our passenger and cargo businesses. There are renewed signs of recovery and some very positive developments and restructuring initiatives in the immediate offing that would significantly strengthen and deleverage our balance sheet." In terms of operational parameters, SpiceJet had the highest passenger load factor amongst all airlines in the country. The average domestic load factor was 91 per cent for the quarter. The airline launched 15 new routes and operated 254 charter flights in the quarter. SpiceJet operates a fleet of Boeing 737s, Q-400s &amp; freighters and is the country's largest regional player operating multiple daily flights under UDAN or the Regional Connectivity Scheme. SpiceJet net profit jumps to ₹107 crore in Q3 FY2023

Budget carrier SpiceJet on Monday said its subsidiary <keyword id="6866514" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SpiceXpress" source="Orion">SpiceXpress</keyword> and Logistics will receive USD 100 million investment from a UK-based group. SpiceJet, which is facing financial headwinds and an insolvency plea by an aircraft lessor, had recently hived off SpiceXpress. Also, last week, the airline said it has no plans to file for insolvency and would invest USD 50 million to revive 25 grounded planes. The United Kingdom-based SRAM &amp; MRAM Group will invest USD 100 million in SpiceXpress. Both sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of the investment deal, the airline said in a release on Monday. The MoU also comes after a debt restructuring agreement between the carrier and aircraft lessor Carlyle Aviation Partner wherein the latter bought a stake in SpiceXpress at an anticipated future valuation of USD 1.5 billion (Rs 12,422 crore). SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said the USD 100 million investment should help SpiceXpress to grow further and expand and provide a more streamlined and efficient service to its customers. SRAM &amp; MRAM Group has interests in agricultural and agro-food products, neural networks, artificial intelligence, hedge fund management, hospitality services and solutions, media and publishing, among other areas. Yet, all its passengers were safe. “A SpiceJet aircraft operating from Delhi to Jabalpur returned safely to the Delhi airport today morning after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin while passing 5000ft; passengers safely disembarked,” a Spicejet spokesperson said. A lot of SpiceJet passengers have been safe across five such incidents that happened in the last three months. But the turbulent times that passengers faced, might keep them away from the third largest airline in the country. SpiceJet also topped the list of airlines whose services are the most unsatisfactory, followed by Indigo, according to a recent LocalCircles survey. Airlines in general have been cutting corners and compromising on passenger comfort – said 79% of the Indian passengers polled. “On an aggregate basis, flight delays, inflight services, boarding and check-in procedures, baggage handling and timely information sharing among top issues Indian passengers face, with airlines,” said the LocalCircles report. And, 41% of the respondents said ‘flight delays’ as the foremost unsatisfactory factor, followed by poor aircraft interiors including seat, entertainment system for 28% of them. The airline clarified that a bird hit had damaged their fan blades. On the same day, another flight, the Bombardier Q400 Dash 8 plane from Delhi to Jabalpur, had to make an <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/delhi-spicejet-flight-smoke-in-cabin-jabalpur-8004366/">emergency landing</a> in Delhi as the cabin pressure couldn’t be built up as the plane gained altitude. On May 4, a SpiceJet Boeing 737 MAX plane flying from Chennai to Durgapur had to turn back due to engine shut down mid-air. This had happened after an oil-filter warning had popped up. A few days before this, a lot of passengers were severely injured in a SpiceJet aircraft flying from Mumbai to Jabalpur due to severe turbulence before landing. As per the company, business continues to be severely impacted by the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic which has adversely hit <keyword id="6363823" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="operations">operations</keyword> and travel demand. The airline reported a net loss of ₹998.3 crore in <keyword id="9290552" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="fy2021">FY2021</keyword>. On a segment wise basis, the revenue from cargo operations increased by 518 per cent aggregating to ₹1,117.5 crore for FY2021 with profit of Rs 130.9 crore for the full year against a loss of ₹134.2 crore for the previous year. Furthermore, the company continues to incur various costs owing to the grounding and the inability of <keyword id="6357957" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="boeing">Boeing</keyword> 737Max aircraft to undertake revenue operations for over two years now. SpiceJet to raise ₹2,500 crore, quarterly loss narrows

New Delhi, Feb 14 () Shares of SpiceJet on Friday jumped nearly 6 per cent after the company posted a net profit of Rs 73.2 crore for the three months ended December. The scrip climbed 5.79 per cent to close at Rs 89.60 on the BSE. During the day, it advanced 10.27 per cent to Rs 93.40. In the 2018 December quarter, the carrier recorded a profit of Rs 55.1 crore. "Standalone profit from Air Transport Services (airline) was Rs 115 crore. Further, this profit is after a non-cash forex charge on account of Ind AS 116 of Rs 75.9 crore without which the profit would have been Rs 190.9 crore," the airline said in a release. Ind AS 116 or Indian Accounting Standard 116 pertains to leases. Operational revenue in the latest December quarter climbed 47 per cent to Rs 3,647.1 crore. In the year-ago period, the same stood at Rs 2,486.8 crore. SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said the airline has done remarkably well in the latest quarter despite a substantial profit hit from the grounding of MAX aircraft. SUM SHWSHW

TVS Motor TVS Motor Company reported a 29.37% decline in consolidated net profit at ₹181.41 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The production and sales improved consistently from July onwards, but the commercial vehicle segment continued to hurt the company. The shares of TVS Motor ended over 1% lower on Thursday. Vodafone Idea Debt-ridden telecom firm Vodafone Idea reported narrowing of its consolidated loss to ₹7,218.2 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company had posted a loss of ₹50,897.9 crore in the same quarter last year. However, the total income declined by about 3% to ₹10,830.5 crore during the reported quarter. The company’s subscriber base also declined to 27.18 crore in Q2, from 27.98 crore earlier. The shares of Vodafone Idea ended 4% lower on Thursday. Angel Broking Kuwait Investment Authority has acquired half a percent stake in retail broking company Angel Broking via open market transactions on October 29 for ₹321.73 per share. The shares of Angel Broking ended 3% higher on Thursday. <keyword id="1583080" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AirAsia-India">AirAsia India</keyword>, which started its domestic operation in June this year, has posted a loss of around Rs 29 crore for the July-September quarter (Q2). The airline had come up with various lucrative offers to woo passengers. 
 Entrepreneur Tony Fernandes-led <keyword id="2202187" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AirAsia-Berhad">AirAsia Berhad</keyword> reported the loss in its September quarter earnings report that was issued on November 19. AirAsia Berhad has a 49% stake in the Indian carrier. The other stakeholders in the Indian venture are Tata Sons and entrepreneur <keyword id="81616" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amit-Bhatia">Amit Bhatia</keyword>. However, the Malaysian company did not reveal the revenues earned by AirAsia India. 
 
AirAsia Berhad revealed that its Indian subsidiary is planning to add more aircrafts to its existing fleet and will also come up with a second hub in Goa. “In India, they (AirAsia India) will likely add two more aircraft in December, bringing it to a total of four aircraft,” it said. 
 It is important to note that the passenger load factor recorded by AirAsia India has fallen sharply since June. According to the data available with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), AirAsia India’s load factor, which stood at 80% in June, fell to 69.8% in July, 73% in August, 68.7% in September and 76.2% in October. However, its competitors such as <keyword id="6354706" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indigo">IndiGo</keyword> and <keyword id="6358032" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SpiceJet">SpiceJet</keyword> maintained a load factor of over 75% during the same period. 
 
AirAsia Berhad, which is also planning to fly to Delhi and Mumbai, is optimistic about the future growth of its Indian subsidiary. Now, it remains to be seen whether the carrier will post a profit in the next quarter.
