<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/37518154.cms" /> India’s <keyword id="2388591" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="second-largest-generic-drugmaker-Cipla-Ltd">second largest generic drugmaker Cipla Ltd</keyword> has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 51% stake in a pharmaceuticals manufacturing and distribution business in <keyword id="44789" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Yemen">Yemen</keyword> (owned by a UAE-based parent company) for $21 million (Over Rs 125 crore). 
 After acquiring 60% stake in a Sri Lanka-based company for $14 million, this is the second buyout of <keyword id="6357157" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cipla">Cipla</keyword> this month. 
 
According to Cipla, buyout in Yemen will secure the company's presence in a fast growing market, where it already has a leading position with over 200 products. The deal includes additional considerations to be paid over the next three years on achievement of agreed milestones. 
 At noon today (June 30), the company’s stock stood at Rs 422, up by 1.07% on <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> (<keyword id="43628" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bombay-stock-exchange">Bombay Stock Exchange</keyword>). 
 Last year, it completed the buyout of <keyword id="2388593" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="South-African-pharma-firm-Cipla-Medpro">South African pharma firm Cipla Medpro</keyword> for Rs 2,707 crore. Also in December 2013, it had acquired Croatia-based firm <keyword id="2347307" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Celeris">Celeris</keyword>, distributor of its products in that country.

Cipla Inks $21 Million Deal To Buy 51% Stake In Yemen-based distributor

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/36762802.cms" /> Mumbai-based pharma major <keyword id="6357157" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Cipla">Cipla</keyword> has signed an agreement with its Sri Lankan distributor to acquire 60% stake in a new firm for $14 million (nearly Rs 85 crore). The new company will market Cipla’s products in Sri Lanka. 
	 
	The Indian company has operated in Sri Lanka for more than 15 years and is a big player in the market there. 
 A definitive agreement has been inked by Cipla (<keyword id="56022" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mauritius">Mauritius</keyword>), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Indian firm, with its existing Sri Lankan distributor for the acquisition of 60% stake in a new company. The proposed acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals, Cipla said in a filing to the <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword>. 

	Of late, Cipla has been active in acquisition as part of its global expansion strategy. 
 Last year, it completed the buyout of the <keyword id="2347306" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="South-African-pharma-company">South African pharma company</keyword> <keyword id="415177" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Cipla-Medpro">Cipla Medpro</keyword> for Rs 2,707 crore. Cipla Strikes $14 Million Deal With Its Sri Lankan Drug Distributor

	 Indian pharma major <keyword id="6357157" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cipla">Cipla</keyword> has won a R2 billion (South African currency, ZAR) contract from the South African government’s National ARV tender. The company was awarded the contract through its South African subsidiary, <keyword id="415177" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cipla-Medpro">Cipla Medpro</keyword>. The contract will be effective from the April 1, 2015 for a period of three years. 
	 This would be the third such contract that has been awarded to Cipla Medpro this year by . Cipla is known as a pioneer of fixed dose combinations following Cipla’s Dr Yusuf Hamied’s accomplishment of making <keyword id="19472" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="aids">Aids</keyword> medication available or a dollar a day in 2001,” said Paul Miller, CEO of Cipla Medpro. The contract is for producing medicines to fight <keyword id="6363554" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HIV">HIV</keyword> and AIDS. 
	 
	“We intend to continue this proud tradition and build on the foundation laid to continue our quest of providing affordable healthcare to all,” added Miller. 
	 
	The company will produce the drug at its Cipla Medpro Manufacturing (CMM), which is based in Kwazulu-Natal. Currently, the company is into producing fixed dose combinations (FDCs) drugs. 
	 
	“We are extremely proud to have won this tender which is not only testament to our high quality product portfolio, but is also in line with Cipla’s ethos of advancing healthcare for all South Africans. Indian Pharma Major Cipla Wins R2 Billion Contract In South Africa

The contract would come into effect from 1 April, 2015, and will be applicable for three years, <keyword id="267324" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cipla-Ltd">Cipla Ltd</keyword> said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Cipla’s subsidiary Gets Order Worth Rs 1,100-crore From South Africa

New Delhi, Feb 10 () Cipla Medpro South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cipla Ltd, India, has recently concluded an exclusive agreement securing originator and authorised generic brands of an atypical anti-psychotic drug Quetiapine. The agreement involves AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd, the originator of the medicine, and Luye Pharma Hong Kong Ltd, which acquired the assets and rights to the medicine in select territories. "The transaction allows Cipla Medpro to market and distribute the medicine in South Africa and neighbouring countries," a filing said on Monday. The existing portfolio consists of the originator brand Seroquel and the authorised generic brand Truvalin, medication which is used to treat mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder, it added. Paul Miller, chief executive officer of Cipla South Africa, said the agreement strategically enhances Cipla's Central Nervous System portfolio. "This transaction will help ensure that people have access to affordable and quality medicine that will help improve quality of life for people living with these conditions," he added. According to the company’s CEO CP Gurnani, things were on track until March when the Coronavirus pandemic hit. “Till February, we booked $500 million of these contracts. In March, we continued to book businesses,” he said during the earnings call. However, the Covid-19 is making things move along “slower than usual”. Chief Financial Officer Manoj Bhat expects the net impact on volume to be around 1%. Telecom accounts for over 40% of Tech Mahindra’s revenue and the big question is how the 5G deals — especially the massive $1 billion multi-year contract with US telecom provider AT&amp;T — will bear the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
