<keyword id="6355588" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajasthan">Rajasthan</keyword> Deputy Chief Minister <keyword id="71345" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sachin-Pilot">Sachin Pilot</keyword> has arrived in Delhi to meet party high command and has sought time for a meeting with Congress interim President <keyword id="689" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sonia-Gandhi">Sonia Gandhi</keyword>, sources said on Sunday. The sources said that at least a dozen MLAs said to be from Pilot's camp are also staying put in NCR-Delhi region at various places. Pilot had come to Delhi on Saturday. According to the sources, MLA P.R. Meena, considered to be a member from the Pilot group, had sought to meet Sonia Gandhi to apprise her of the "step-motherly treatment given to them by the <keyword id="165679" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashok-Gehlot-government">Ashok Gehlot government</keyword> in Rajasthan". Meanwhile, Chief Minister Gehlot called a meeting of his Ministers at his official residence in Jaipur late Saturday and asked all party MLAs to give a letter of support to him. Senior ministers have been roped in this regard. However, ministers from the Pilot camp did not attend this meeting. Gehlot, sources said, has spoken with Sonia Gandhi, Rajasthan party affairs incharge Avinash Pandey, and Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal to apprise them of developments in his state.

Sonia Gandhi to speak to Mamata Banerjee, Uddhav Thackeray about GST share and pending NEET-JEE exams

In a bid to get the opposition’s nod on the contentious <keyword id="387846" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="GST-Bill">GST bill</keyword>, <keyword id="6354814" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="prime-minister-Narendra-Modi">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</keyword> has invited Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for tea today evening. 
 
Apart from the GST bill, they are likely to discuss other issues too. 
 
The Modi government is trying hard to pass the Goods and Services Tax bill in the Rajya Sabha. 
 
Confirming the news, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, "Modi called Sonia Gandhi and offered her to join him for discussions on important legislations that are pending in the House. He has also requested Manmohan Singh to join them for the meeting. Everyone wants Parliament to function without any disruptions. I hope discussions on all issues will take place in the House.” 
 
Modi’s call comes after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said that he has spoken to "almost all Congress leaders" on the issue.

Rae Bareli will see Sonia Gandhi up against 14 candidates

Union Minister Environment and Forests Minister <keyword id="119642" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prakash-Javadekar">Prakash Javadekar</keyword> has said that the government will look into cases of ‘extraneous influence’ in approval of projects during <keyword id="47584" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jayanthi-Natarajan">Jayanthi Natarajan</keyword>'s tenure under the UPA government. Javadekar also accused Congress President <keyword id="689" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sonia-Gandhi">Sonia Gandhi</keyword> of unduly interfering in the functioning of the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. 
 
"She (Natarajan) has mentioned certain files and she has not mentioned certain files but she indicated what was happening. But one thing is clear, that the Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) was in office, but not in power. The power was concentrated in 10, Janpath (residence of Sonia Gandhi). So, we will definitely look into the cases mentioned and hinted at, where some extraneous influence has happened. We will see if there is any trace of such extraneous influence," he said. 
 It is pertinent to mention here that Natarajan had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi, in which she alleged that she had received ‘specific requests’ from <keyword id="5268" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rahul-Gandhi">Rahul Gandhi</keyword> on environmental clearances. Accepting those requests, she had denied permission for some big projects. She had also quit Congress last week after attacking both Sonia and Rahul. 
 
Natarajan had claimed that she had followed Rahul’s directions but he later "changed his stand in favour of corporates."

I have been saying since the beginning that all these things were based on principles. I always thought these things are essential to be raised in the party's interest," he told mediapersons. Pilot also said that he believed that all these issues will be resolved after Sonia Gandhi heard all their concerns and the governance issues that they had raised. He also welcomed the formation of the three-member committee. "I heard a lot of things. I was surprised by a few things that were said. I think we should always maintain restraint and humility. Delhi Congress passes resolution demanding Rahul Gandhi as the new party chief

<keyword id="43868" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mamata-Banerjee">Mamata Banerjee</keyword>'s Wednesday visit to <keyword id="689" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sonia-Gandhi">Sonia Gandhi</keyword>'s Delhi residence was not only to greet the latter on her birthday. If reports from political galleries are to be believed, there is going to be a newfound alliance between Congress and Trinamool. However, senior officials of both parties are rubbishing these reports, citing it as an informal chit-chat between old friends. Interestingly, it was after three years that Banerjee was paying a visit to ‘old friend’ Gandhi's residence. 
 The rushed meeting between Banerjee and Gandhi could have had an agenda of preventing an electoral alliance between Congress and CPM. Her party, Bengal TMC, had earlier committed of not disrupting any of the Parliamentary proceedings, but has now shown support to Congress by staging a walk out protesting against the court's summon issued to Sonia Gandhi in <keyword id="1217689" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Herald">National Herald</keyword> case. 
 
What gave rise to these speculations are some recent instances when Banerjee and Gandhi interacted with each other. Both had exchanged Diwali wishes in October, after hugging each other in August, when they met at the central hall in Parliament. 
 
"Even though I am not associated with any political party, as an outsider I feel that Mamata Banerjee is feeling a bit nervous. The nervousness is taking her from this door to that door. In the past three years, she only abused Congress and called them worthless. Suddenly, she overcame all bitterness and is trying to recover the relationship that she built before 2011 assembly election. Now, before 2016 elections, she appears to be really desperate," veteran parliamentarian and former speaker, Somnath Chatterjee told ET.

The government is leaving no stone unturned to coax the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Congress">Congress party</a>-led Opposition, terming the bill in national interest. 
 
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu reached out to all parties and took their views on important bills. Despite all the attempt, some parties, especially the Congress, have refused to cooperate and created roadblocks in passage of bills which is affecting the growth of the economy, he said. 
 
"I once again appeal to all political parties to please think in national interest... This is very important in the backdrop of the current financial situation across the globe," Naidu said. 
 The government is worried that further delay in the passage of the <keyword id="387846" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="GST-Bill">GST bill</keyword> will force further delay and failure to meet the April 1, 2016, deadline for the implementation of GST. 
 
Naidu also met the Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, and spoke to Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, over the phone to seek support on The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Second) Amendment Bill. 
 
However, Congress showed no signs of support. 
 
Failing in all attempts, Naidu blamed the Congress president <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/US-court-dismisses-1984-riots-case-against-Sonia-Gandhi/articleshow/48678186.cms">Sonia Gandhi</a> and her son <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Congress-protest-enters-third-day-Rahul-Gandhi-says-oppositions-voice-is-being-suppressed/articleshow/48375421.cms">Rahul Gandhi</a> for the deadlock and accused them of harming the economy. 
 
BJP ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Rajiv Pratap Rudy have also visited Sonia Gandhi. The second part of the Monsoon Session in likely to be held in the second week of September.

Modi is desperate and it shows in the way he’s seeking Congress’ support on the GST

In a setback to Gandhis, the Delhi High Court has summoned Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi in connection with <keyword id="2376868" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Herald-case">National Herald case</keyword>. 
 
The high court refused to stay a summons order passed against them and has asked them to be present in a lower court on Tuesday. 
 
Judge Sunil Gaur also refused to grant the Gandhis exemption from appearance. 
 
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, in his petition, has accused the Gandhis of grabbing the properties owned by National Herald by buying over its publishers through an outfit in which the Gandhis hold 86% stake.
