Shatrughan Sinha to make OTT debut with web series 'Gangs of Ghaziabad'

The December 24, 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines flight is getting a series treatment at Netflix with <keyword id="19913032" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="anubhav-sinha" source="keywords">Anubhav Sinha</keyword> attached as creator and director. The show is titled "IC 814: The Kandhar Hijack" and stars <keyword id="19901508" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vijay-varma" source="keywords">Vijay Varma</keyword>, Patralekha, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Amrita Puri, and Anupam Tripathi. According to the makers, the series revolves around "the 24th December 1999 hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814 which was en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi. It was taken to Kandahar. The hijack lasted seven days and while the crew and passengers suffered, officers back home tried to find a solution to bring them home." Sinha, known for films such as "Mulk", "Article 15" and "Bheed", said it was a responsibility to be as authentic as possible while working on the series. "When I started doing research, almost everyone remembers a few things about the hijack, and what all happened during the process. I realised it is a very complex story and a lot of things happened in those seven days and not many people know about it. "I met a lot of officers, passengers, the pilot, and there was a lot more to share. We have put it all in the show... We had to make it factually correct and yet dramatic and engaging... It was an interesting process," the director said at the Next on Netflix event here. "When we started out on this story, it took us a while to get down to actually making it in the right way. It was a journey for us because it is such a journalistic sort of piece, but it is such a large story of human interest and it had to be told in the most dramatic and thrilling fashion," Shergill told PTI. Netflix announces series on 1999 Kandahar hijack, Anubhav Sinha to direct show

Sanjay Leela Bhansali to launch Heeramandi's first song on Miss World stage

Bhansali, known for lavishly mounted feature films such as "Ram-Leela", "Bajirao Mastani" and "Padmaavat", is set to make his long-format debut with Netflix's "Heermandi". Koirala, who plays Mallikajaan in the upcoming eight-part period drama set during the freedom struggle movement in India, worked with Bhansali in his feature directorial debut "Khamoshi: The Musical" (1996). At the Next on Netflix India event, the actor said "Heeramandi" has turned out well and the team is "dying to show it" to fans. "We all have tried to do our best because we were working with a master. To be working with Sanjay 25 years after his first film, 'Khamoshi', it can't get better than 'Heeramandi'. Working with Bhansali has been a wonderful dream, said Hydari. They earlier collaborated on 2018's "Padmaavat". "When we shoot a film, we get a certain amount of time to be with a director. When you shoot a show, you get that much more time. Some look at the look, beauty, but what I find incredible about the experience is the fact his soul goes into everything he does. "He eats, lives, and breathes his characters. There's so much passion. I'm grateful that the challenges that he throws at you, there's so much love, and pride, pushing you to do your best. I've assisted sir on 'Bajirao Mastani', which was a movie, and watching him adapt to the format of the series, was a privilege." Sinha said she loved collaborating with Manisha and she learned a lot from the actor. "Manisha is such a wonderful person. The body of work that she has behind her, the work that she has done and the films of hers that we have seen. She is so respected, stunning, beautiful, elegant, just wow. "But keeping that aside, when I worked with her, I realised, she is a beautiful person, just the way she conducts herself on set. Watching her and being with her in the same frame was such a pleasure. I hope I can do it soon. It was an honour working with her," she said. Sonakshi Sinha's OTT series 'Dahaad' to debut on Prime Video in May

Speaking at the Make in Odisha Conclave here on Thursday, Sinha said the four power discoms of Odisha, where Tata Power has a majority stake, are committed to Rs 6,000 crore capex investment in the next five years. Sinha said the company will also set up 1,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points, 1,00,000 solar pumps, microgrids, rooftop and floating <keyword id="6453229" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="solar-plants" source="Orion">solar plants</keyword> in the next five years. He welcomed the Odisha government's Renewable Energy Policy 2022 unveiled at the Make In Odisha Conclave here. The Tata Power CEO said the company has been engaged in power distribution across Odisha and is committed to ensure ease-of-doing business through quality power supply. "Tata Power is committed to ensure 'Udyog Ru Pragati' (progress through entrepreneurship) by offering high-quality and affordable power supply to enable a conducive environment for industrial development. Our clean and green energy products and solutions in e-mobility, decentralised generation, agriculture, and demand side management will further ensure an all-round sustainable development of the state," Sinha said. He said Tata Power is also working with Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in deploying charging infrastructure at multi-level car parking lots and public utilities like hospitals, universities, malls, and at important city hubs. The company is also in early stages to explore the development of green hydrogen hubs in the Paradeep region to meet industrial demands, he said, adding that Tata Power is also working towards the solarization of the agriculture sector in association with the state government. The company has already installed over 700 solar pumps in addition to 1,200 dual pump for community drinking application across the state. It has planned to install 30,000 solar pumps over the next five years, he said. Welcoming the state's new Renewable Energy Policy 2022, Sinha said the incentives provisions like electricity duty waiver, wheeling charge waiver, cross subsidy surcharge waiver, state transmission utility charge waiver are very encouraging. He said Tata Power is working towards the electrification of remote villages by setting up microgrids. A technical feasibility study has been carried out in several villages in the Mayurbhanj District to set up microgrids for transformation of the rural/ tribal economy.

The company said it managed to narrow its loss due to higher revenues. The company's total income (or total revenue) for Q2 FY23 was Rs 22,409 million, an increase of 5.1 per cent over Q2 FY22. The company in a statement said its adjusted operating profit or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) for Q2 FY23 was Rs 18,209 million, an increase of 0.1 per cent over Q2 FY22. Cash Flow to equity for the quarter under review was Rs 7,125 million, an increase of 4.7 per cent over Q2 FY22. Days Sales Outstanding ended Q2 FY23 at 231 days, which is a 41-day improvement year-on-year and the company increased its cash by Rs 4,881 million through a reduction in accounts receivables during the quarter. The Gurgaon-headquartered company said $ 300 million in green bonds were redeemed during Q2 FY23. As of September 30, 2022, 50 per cent of total outstanding debt is local currency borrowing. A green bond is a type of debt security created for funding or re-funding projects contributing positively to the climate and/or ecosystem. As of September 30, 2022, the Company's portfolio consisted of 13.4 GWs, a 30.8 per cent increase year on year. In a LinkedIn post, Agrawal who joined the company in July 2021, said he will be moving on from CARS24 in the next few months. "I joined CARS24 with a specific goal to help the team scale multiple countries at once - a particularly challenging task because, as an eCommerce company with complex execution, we built each country like an independent startup. We also did it all at once," he said. The used car marketplace, set for an IPO, in May announced that around 600 employees were let go based on their poor performance and not owing to any "cost cuts". "This is business as usual as these are performance-linked exits that happen every year," the company said in a statement. In December last year, CARS24 closed a $400 million round of funding, including a $300 million Series G equity round alongside $100 million debt from diversified financial institutions. The platform was valued at $3.3 billion, about double the valuation from its previous round in September 2021. The company recently announced the launch of seven 'Mega Refurbishment Labs' (MRLs) in India -- an industry first, and one MRL in the UAE which is among Dubai's largest ever commercial leasing deals. "CARS24 has aggressive plans for 2022. We are witnessing greater acceptance amongst customers across the globe for our platform when purchasing their next car," Vikram Chopra, Co-founder &amp; CEO, CARS24 had said.
