All good things must come to an end and the same goes for Bollywood. After a magnificent spell of back-to-back blockbusters in the form 
of <keyword id="227940" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chennai-Express">Chennai Express</keyword>, <keyword id="500441" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Krrish-3">Krrish 3</keyword> and <keyword id="1886157" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ram-Leela">Ram-Leela</keyword> (yes, this flick from <keyword id="6358308" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="sanjay-leela-bhansali">Sanjay Leela Bhansali</keyword> is finally looking <keyword id="41744" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="UP">up</keyword> and nearing the Rs 100 crore mark but more on that later), two more movies hit the screens on Friday (November 22) – <keyword id="2165" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kareena-Kapoor">Kareena Kapoor</keyword> (<keyword id="2857" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bebo">Bebo</keyword>) and <keyword id="14676" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Imran-Khan">Imran Khan</keyword>’s much-hyped <keyword id="1636016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="rom-com">rom-com</keyword> <keyword id="1538595" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gori-Tere-Pyaar-Mein">Gori Tere Pyaar Mein</keyword> and <keyword id="9271" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sunny-Deol">Sunny Deol</keyword>’s rustic action flick <keyword id="1481019" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Singh-Saab-The-Great">Singh Saab The Great</keyword>. But after our usual 4-day tally, the numbers are none too impressive. 
 
Let’s take a close look at Gori Tere first, directed by <keyword id="112568" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Punit-Malhotra">Punit Malhotra</keyword>. According to a trade website, the total collection after 4 days (Nov 22-25) stands at a paltry Rs 16.5 crore and certainly nowhere near the Big League. In his latest tweet, film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh says: #GTPM is better in UAE, below the mark in USA-Canada &amp; UK, poor in Australia and disaster in NZ. Overseas total: $ 980,000 [Rs 6.12 crore]. 
 
If the collection doesn’t pick up soon, Imran could be in trouble. Well, <keyword id="828519" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ek-Main-Aur-Ekk-Tu">Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu</keyword> (Shakun Batra’s directorial debut in 2012), his last movie opposite Bebo, did well at <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> and grossed a total of $8.1 million in India and abroad. But the year 2013 hasn’t been exactly great and both his films, <keyword id="814061" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Matru-Ki-Bijlee-Ka-Mandola">Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola</keyword> (a <keyword id="825824" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="political-satire">political satire</keyword>) and <keyword id="1717335" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Once-Upon-A-Time-In-Mumbai-Dobaara">Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara</keyword> (a <keyword id="1952408" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gangster-flick">gangster flick</keyword>) failed to bomb the box office. In contrast, Bebo has done extremely well in Madhur Bhandarkar’s <keyword id="6439486" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="heroine">Heroine</keyword> and <keyword id="125922" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Reema-Kagti">Reema Kagti</keyword>’s suspense thriller <keyword id="1952412" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Talaash-The-Answer-Lies-Within">Talaash: The Answer Lies Within</keyword>. Starring <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor, <keyword id="861273" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Talaash">Talaash</keyword> also entered the <keyword id="925977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rs-100-crore-club">Rs 100 crore club</keyword> and raked in a total of Rs 131.78 crore. 
 However, the <keyword id="1952416" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lukewarm-response">lukewarm response</keyword> to Gori Tere could be due to the over-used theme. Although Imran sparkles in his romedy (romance-comedy) role as a rich architect and Bebo looks pretty stunning in her desi avatar while she pursues her fiery zeal for social work, the ‘bridging’ between the ‘unlikely’ partners is kind of predictable nowadays. And strangely enough, this flick reminds you of an earlier hit (<keyword id="14521" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jab-We-Met">Jab We Met</keyword>) where Bebo did it with equal spontaneity and spunk. Gori Tere is sweet and breezy, but the freshness of the <keyword id="1952417" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shahid-Kapoor-Bebo">Shahid Kapoor-Bebo</keyword> starrer is somewhat missing here and the sparks are not flying. In perspective, Adarsh has tweeted: #BusinessTalk: #RamLeela dominates, #GTPM dismal, #SSTG decent in mass circuits! 
 
And that brings us to the other movie of the week – Gadar director Anil Sharma’s Singh Saab The Great. Sunny Deol-starrer Singh Saab has moved ahead of Gori Tere and grossed around Rs 21.5 crore after four days. The response has been good in North India, especially in Punjab and Delhi, and single screens have seen good turnouts except in the East and the South. 
 In this <keyword id="1952421" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Action-drama">action drama</keyword>, Sunny plays a collector of a small city in <keyword id="6357713" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> and values his honesty and integrity more than anything else. He fights corruption and injustice to usher in the change that real-life politicos never stop mentioning. Overall, it features a contemporary and relevant theme that can impact the audience. <keyword id="1855052" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SSTG">SSTG</keyword> [limited screens] is best in USA-Canada, but ordinary elsewhere. Overseas total: approx $400,000 [Rs. 2.50 crore], tweeted Adarsh. 
 Meanwhile, Bhansali’s Ram-Leela is catching up after some initial hiccups. Last week, the Lucknow bench of the <keyword id="48834" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Allahabad-High-Court">Allahabad High Court</keyword> banned the screening of <keyword id="1942272" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Goliyon-Ki-Raasleela-Ram-leela">Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela</keyword> in Uttar Pradesh. The court has, however, allowed the producer and director to run the film without using ‘Ram-Leela’ and ‘Raasleela’ in the title. In its ruling, the bench said, “We are only concerned with the use of word ‘Ram-Leela’ in the title of the film, which hurts the sentiments of billions of peoples not only in India but all over the world.” 
 
But in spite of the controversies, Ram-Leela continues to dominate and seems to have overtaken Krrish 3 in the global market. According to Adarsh, #Krrish3 affected by #RamLeela wave. Overseas total *after Weekend 4*: approx $8.5 million [Rs 53.07 crore]. Blockbuster! 
 
As of now (after the 26th day), Krrish 3 has grossed a total of Rs 263.20 crore. But the question is – can Ram-Leela overtake Krrish 3 and become the topmost earner? We need to wait and watch – picture abhi baki hai and the box office war is far from over.

'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' Not Yet A Box Office Hit; 'Singh
Saab' Moves Up The Scale

Another <keyword id="829894" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood-flick">Bollywood flick</keyword> with big names has gone awry. This time, it is Tigmanshu Dhulia’s <keyword id="1604723" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bullett-Raja">Bullett Raja</keyword>, starring <keyword id="333" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saif-Ali-Khan">Saif Ali Khan</keyword> and <keyword id="62210" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sonakshi-Sinha">Sonakshi Sinha</keyword>. In spite of all the promo and hoopla, the gangster-thriller couldn’t rock the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> and only grossed Rs 25 crore at the end of the 4th day, according to industry estimates. That’s a paltry sum, going by movies like <keyword id="500441" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Krrish-3">Krrish 3</keyword> (Rs 24.5 crore on the opening day alone and a total of Rs 267.9 crore till December 2) or even the trouble-torn <keyword id="1886157" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ram-Leela">Ram-Leela</keyword>. The latter’s <keyword id="1960834" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="BO-collection">BO collection</keyword> was a little less than Rs 60 crore after Day IV, but this flick from <keyword id="6358308" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="sanjay-leela-bhansali">Sanjay Leela Bhansali</keyword> has finally entered the Rs 100 crore club and grossed around Rs 110 crore till date. 
 But let’s come back to the <keyword id="1960832" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saif-Sonakshi-starrer">Saif-Sonakshi starrer</keyword> and try to decode why the stickiness is missing. Based in a small town in <keyword id="6357713" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword>, the movie is mostly about <keyword id="97981" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gangsters">gangsters</keyword> and <keyword id="1960835" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gun-fest">gun fest</keyword> while Sonakshi plays Saif’s love interest. The theme may not sound too original, but it hasn’t drawn too much flak either. In fact, film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about it quite enthusiastically: #BullettRaja movie review: Enjoyable, engaging and extremely distinctive. Not to be missed! But that was on November 27 and only a couple of days later, the reality hit hard. According to his column, this ‘Bullett’ has missed the mark! The movie got mixed reaction from other <keyword id="20998" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="critics">critics</keyword> and that seems to be reflecting in the box office. 
 If Saif fans are hoping for a <keyword id="46426" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Turnaround">turnaround</keyword> (à la Ram-Leela) in the coming weeks, they could be mightily disappointed. After all, Shahid Kapoor-starrer <keyword id="1960837" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="R-Raajkumar">R... Raajkumar</keyword> is coming up this Friday (December 6) and it has a similar theme – that of a small-time goon, caught up in a criminal life. Interestingly, Sonakshi is also the lead lady there and considering the fact that it is directed by <keyword id="21117" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prabhu-Deva">Prabhu Deva</keyword>, Saif’s flick could be in for some tough competition. 
 
Finally, we can’t help asking the inevitable – is Saif losing his touch? Although <keyword id="5819" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="cocktail">Cocktail</keyword> ($920 million) and <keyword id="588009" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Race-2">Race-2</keyword> ($16 million) saw good response at the box office, other movies including <keyword id="146746" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Aarakshan">Aarakshan</keyword> (domestic net $6.5 million), <keyword id="79972" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Agent-Vinod">Agent Vinod</keyword> ($8.4 million against an estimated budget of $9.2 million) and <keyword id="812183" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Go-Goa-Gone">Go Goa Gone</keyword> ($3.8 million) failed to take off. 
 
End note: <keyword id="9271" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sunny-Deol">Sunny Deol</keyword>’s rustic action flick <keyword id="1481019" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Singh-Saab-The-Great">Singh Saab the Great</keyword> has grossed Rs 42.1 crore till December 2 while Imran-Kareena’s <keyword id="1636016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="rom-com">rom-com</keyword> <keyword id="1538595" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gori-Tere-Pyaar-Mein">Gori Tere Pyaar Mein</keyword> has collected only Rs 30.20 crore. It seems both Saif and <keyword id="2857" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bebo">Bebo</keyword> need some good luck and solid <keyword id="120143" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="crowd-support">crowd support</keyword> to sail through the coming weeks.

‘Bullett Raja’ Falls Wide Of The Mark;
Faces Tough Time Ahead

<keyword id="19895142" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan" source="keywords">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> is "a connoisseur of art and a good actor", said veteran star <keyword id="19929172" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kamal-Haasan" source="keywords">Kamal Haasan</keyword> and revealed the superstar didn't charge a single penny for his 2000 bilingual film "<keyword id="21044414" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hey-Ram" source="keywords">Hey Ram</keyword>". "Hey Ram" is a period drama written, directed, and produced by Kamal, which also starred him and Shah Rukh in the lead. In the Tamil-Hindi movie, Kamal and Shah Rukh played friends Saket Ram and Amjad Ali Khan, respectively. At the trailer launch of his upcoming movie "<keyword id="21727589" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustani-2" source="keywords">Hindustani 2</keyword>", the multihyphenate said titles like 'star' or 'superstar' don't matter while working on a film. "When we work together, we are all just people. I don't see a superstar. He doesn't see a super director. We are friends. Shah Rukh sahib made that film for free... That cannot be done by a superstar. That can be done only by a fan. A connoisseur of art and a good actor. I'm ever thankful to him. Later on, you give us those titles and we very shyly accept it," Kamal told reporters here on Tuesday night. The 69-year-old also spoke about how he wanted screen icon <keyword id="19923448" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dilip-Kumar" source="keywords">Dilip Kumar</keyword> to star in the Hindi remake of the 1992 Tamil film "<keyword id="22180547" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Thevar-Magan" source="keywords">Thevar Magan</keyword>". Directed by <keyword id="22187094" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharathan" source="keywords">Bharathan</keyword>, "Thevar Magan" was written and produced by Haasan. It starred Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal as a father-son duo. Unfortunately, Dilip Kumar had decided to retire from cinema by the time he reached out to him. "I wanted to do it only with Yusuf sahib (Dilip Kumar's real name). When he said I'm not going to do any more films. Then, I sold the rights to somebody because I didn't want to and I couldn't think of anybody else. And so that was a dream that didn't come through," Kamal recalled. Eventually, Amrish Puri played the father to Anil Kapoor in "Virasat", the 1997 Hindi remake of "Thevar Magan". Kamal said he used to come to Mumbai to wish the late star on his birthday on December 11. "I'm a great fan and a student of Yusuf saab. I don't know how many people know because it was a secret fact. I used to come here whenever I could on December 11 on his birthday and kneel before him to kiss his hand," he added. "Hindustani 2: Zero Tolerance" is a sequel to Kamal's hit 1996 film "<keyword id="19927125" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian" source="keywords">Indian</keyword>", which featured him in a dual role and also starred Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Kasthuri Shankar. The movie was directed by S. Shankar, who is returning for the sequel, slated to be released on July 12. Besides Kamal, the sequel stars Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. It is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah's Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies.
