There have been numerous smartphone launches designed for the selfie frenzied youth and it looks like the trend is only growing stronger. <keyword id="1731609" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oppo">Oppo</keyword> and <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> both today launched their selfie focused smartphones among much fanfare in India. The stage was set in New Delhi for Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi to launch a whole new series called Redmi Y for selfie-focused smartphones. The company launched two new phones as part of the series, RedmiY1 and RedmiY1 Lite both priced under Rs. 10000. Xiaomi India Head <keyword id="1677962" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="manu-kumar-jain">Manu Kumar Jain</keyword> said that the Y stands for ‘You’ as in the selfi-taking youth of today. In Mumbai, Chinese counterpart Oppo too had a big launch for its “Selfie Expert” OppoF5 smartphone. The phone comes packed with 20 megapixel front camera, 18:9 ‘Full Screen’ display and also an AI-powered beautification features. While both phones have a similar marketing angle, the phone will not be competing with one another, atleast in terms of pricing. Xiaomi’s RedmiY1 Lite is priced at Rs. 6999 whereas starting price for Oppo’s F5 phones is Rs. 19,990. For both the companies, these were big launches. Both companies also announced brand ambassadors to capture the attention of selfie loving smartphone users. Oppo roped in <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> actor <keyword id="132292" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Siddharth-Malhotra">Siddharth Malhotra</keyword> and Xiaomi, in what is the first celebrity promoter for the company, got actress <keyword id="6354850" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Katrina-Kaif">Katrina Kaif</keyword> to be the face of the newly launched Redmi Y series. Xiaomi believes that Katrina’s personality will appeal to the selfie taking youth of today. Both companies have big plans on not just promoting but making the phones available through different channels across the country. Oppo’s new phone will be exclusively available online on <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> but the brand has plans to make the new phone available across the country via offline stores. Xiaomi too has plans to make the selfie focused smartphones a major part of their offline stores. Xiaomi has had a pretty good year in India in terms of sales of its recent smartphones. And it has high hopes from the newly launched Redmi Y series. Even though Xiaomi was known as an online only brand at the time when it entered India but now the company has ramped up its offline presence massively, apart from being present at all major multi-brand stores, Xiaomi has also launched the company’s own stand alone stores called Mi homes in different parts of the country. So far Xiaomi has opened nine Mi Homes and it has plans to set up 100 Mi stores in two years. Manu Kumar Jain said that this year offline sales have been extremely lucrative for the company and he expects that 30 per cent of the company’s sales in India will come through offline stores by this year-end. It is clear that for smartphone makers, selfie taking youth are a perfect consumer. Not only low or medium budget smartphone brands but even the premium smartphone brands like iPhone, Google have stressed on how great their selfie cameras are - making sure they address a major target group.

These are the top 5 challenges that went viral on TikTok in 2019

What started off as an ALS awareness drive in America is probably on the verge of becoming a worldwide phenomenon. 
 
Indian Tennis player Rohan Bopanna was the one who started this challenge in India after being nominated by former tennis player Amrit Narsimhan. After taking up the challenge, he nominated actor Rahul Bose, sports editor Digvijay Singh Deo and the entire team of Bengaluru Football club. 
 

 
While Rahul Bose decided to donate to the charity, Bengaluru FC did a group challenge and, in turn, nominated Badminton star Ashwini Ponappa, Tennis sensation Sania Mirza and the blue-eyed boy of Indian cricket Yuvraj Singh. 
 
 
 
Sania Mirza took the challenge twice, having not enough water in the bucket in the first go, and challenged fellow Tennis players Cara Black and Mahesh Bhupathi, Yuvraj Singh, her sister Anam Mirza and actor Riteish Deshmukh, thus, taking the challenge from Indian sports to Bollywood. 
 
 
 
Ashwini Ponappa completed the challenge as well and nominated fellow baddie player Jwala Gutta, swimmer Rehan Poncha and her friend and fashion designer Shravya Verma. 
 
 
 
Mahesh Bhupathi took the challenge and nominated his coach Scott Davidoff, shooter Abhinav Bindra, Abhishek Bachchan and all the members of the Kabaddi team Jaipur Pink Panthers. 
 
 
 
Riteish Deshmukh, who is in Poland shooting for his film Bangistan, produced by Excel Entertainment, went ahead to take the challenge via his <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=854831017863533&amp;set=vb.149681275045181&amp;type=2&amp;theater">Facebook account</a> and nominated his ‘good friends’ actors Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Pulkit Samrat, Siddharth Malhotra and Ashish Chowdhry. 
 
All of the above actors as well as Abhinav Bindra, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Jwala Gutta, Scott Davidoff, Rehan Poncha,and Yuvraj Singh are yet to take the challenge.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Comes To India

Sunday wasn’t that lazy this time! Indians woke up to a viral storm on twitter with AIB (All India Bakchod), which got ‘roasted’ by moral police last month for their vulgar roast of actors is once again in news. This time the bunch of young standup comedians have a made video on net neutrality. Dipping their biscuits on the steaming morning tea, the viewers got an explained idea on the benefits of net neutrality. 
As per a news report in The Economic Times, the video explaining net neutrality, which was vastly shared by the netizens including Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan ended up being removed from Facebook due to unusually high activity. Though the takedown was temporary, this sparked a huge uproar in the social media. 
 
Indian telecom sector is undergoing a ‘to be or not to be’ internal conflict on net neutrality. Several telecom operators are pitching to price Internet usage according to their wish, which would mean the websites paying the operator would load fast where as the others suffer slow bandwidth. While some countries in the world including the USA have supported net neutrality, India is still to take a call on it. TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) is asking for opinions from commoners on the same at <a href="http://www.savetheinternet.in">www.savetheinternet.in</a>. 
 
AIB’s video brought in comparison with an entry to a children’s park where kids are charged for each ride they take. As per the financial daily, the video went viral and helped the already growing online movement called "Save the Internet", and picked up steam as more startups, politicians, actors and other public figures came on board over the weekend. As the takedown of the video was noticed in Facebook by AIB members, the social networking website acted swiftly to restore it after several complaints surfaced. "Can you check now? there was a bug and it is fixed. The post should be visible again," Facebook's growth manager Abhishek Nag tweeted in response to a query by AIB group member Gursimran Khamba. 
 
The ET has reported, Shiv Sena Youth wing President Aaditya Thackeray on Sunday urged the TRAI chairman to halt the move to kill OTT services, which includes popular apps such as Whatsapp, Viber, Skype and so on, pointing out that access to Internet "cannot be governed by the commerce of the telecom operator, who should be rather focusing on bettering the services people pay for". The paper has drawn widespread flak from net and free speech activists, who feel it favours the interests of telecom companies, and have been asking people to join the movement to "Save the Internet" from telecom operators who want greater control over their network. 
 
On Sunday, several actors, such as Farhan Akhtar, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, and Siddharth Malhotra tweeted about net neutrality and save the Internet. Several political figures including Ajay Maken, Ahmed Patel, Sanjay Jha also tweeted in support of net neutrality.

Supertainment Package at an introductory price of Rs 9,999 
 
LeEco launched its Supertainment package at Rs 10,899 including Le 1s Eco for Rs 9,999 and a one-year content membership fee of Rs 4,900 and a LeEco offer of Rs 4,000. For the first flash sale at 2pm on May 12th, LeEco will offer the Supertainment package at a jaw-dropping price of Rs 9,999. 
 
LeEco announced its content membership fee as of Rs. 490 a month or Rs. 4900 a year, and any person who buys a year content membership is entitled to get a hardware price deduction of Rs 4,000. 
 
LeEco has a global "Hardware Freebie Day" on April 14th, 2016, and a total of over RMB 2.36 billion (24.2 billion Rupees) sales were achieved across the LeEco ecosystem, including RMB 2.02 billion (21 billion Rupees) in membership subscription revenues.
