The movie is based on the rape of an underage girl by a self-styled godman. The victim in the movie is denied justice as bribes, threats and more make it tough for the teenager to get justice, until Bajpayee’s character Solanki enters the scene. The lawyer from Jodhpur fights off a battery of great legal minds to navigate a controversial case under the POSCO Act. "It is an eye opener that way and our focus is mostly on the security and safety and protection of the child, which is an issue which is very close to my heart - always been," Bajpayee said about the movie in an interview. Affable lawyers with twisted minds Solanki’s character, based on a real-life model, brings forth the struggles of the legal system in India. But it’s not the only one, especially on OTT. Yet another celebrated actor, Pankaj Tripathi plays Madhav Mishra, an affable-yet-brilliant lawyer from Mumbai who investigates his cases closely in Criminal Justice on Hotstar. The genius underdog also takes up controversial cases like defending a drug-addict teenager accused of murdering his sister, a woman who murdered her husband, and also a cab driver accused of rape and murder of his client —- across three seasons. Tripathi says that his character is based on aam aadmi, who mixes humour with common sense. “His behaviour, mannerisms, sense of timing and body language all make him easy to understand and relate to. Like most American series, it takes us through a variety of cases on dating apps to cola giants — navigated by lawyers with twisted agendas and sharp comebacks. Legal dramas keep it real While the US has many legal dramas to boast be it the super-hit Suits, Boston Legal or The Good Wife and its spinoff, Indian screens have been a late entrant into this genre in spite of a brilliant start in the 80s with Ek Ruka Hua Faisla. The movie starring Pankaj Kapoor brings the story of the now-abandoned jury system in India, as they discuss the depths of a case where a young teen from a slum stabs his father. Later, in addition to a few movies with courtroom scenes, few full fledged legal movies made their mark, with a few exceptions like Sunny Deol’s strongman cum lawyer in Damini. Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar both played the titular roles in Jolly LLB series — as not-so-clean lawyers who had their hearts at the right place. Kumar however headlined another movie Rustom which is based on the highly publicized K M Nanavati vs State of Maharashtra court case from the 50s. The case also inspired another web series named 'The Verdict – State vs Nanavati’ on AltBalaji. In fact, most legal dramas in India have mimicked real life like No One Killed Jessica, starring Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee. Tamil film Jai Bhim which stars Surya also mimics the real life activist and lawyer Justice K Chandru who had worked for the downtrodden. India with its history of delayed yet sensational court cases offers a lot of fodder for fiction, and OTT which is unafraid of diving into the realm of controversy is now bringing a lot of it to screens. Manoj Bajpayee joins the league of on-screen lawyers like Pankaj Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar & more

The much awaited trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming movie <keyword id="6385067" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="fan">Fan</keyword> was released yesterday, and by the looks of it, we can safely say that after a string of commercially successful but critically panned movies in the past few years, the King Khan has finally stepped on the path of redemption as an actor and not just a successful star. 
 
The trailer takes us to Gaurav Chanana, the self-proclaimed biggest fan of superstar Aryan Khanna, who also happens to be his look-alike. After winning a local competition as the biggest fan of Khanna, he goes to Mumbai to meet Khanna, only to create a ruckus in the life of his idol after he fails to appreciate his love and admiration for him. 
 
The trailer then shows the limits of his obsession, which turns dangerous for both his and his idol’s life, after a string of stunts in Mumbai, Croatia, and London, in which we see Aryan running after Gaurav, proving his point that now a star would run behind his fan. 
 
The fact that Khan spent a significant time sitting on a chair getting his make-up done by Academy Award winner make-up artist Greg Cannom to look like a look-alike of himself is not the only interesting thing about the trailer. It’s actually the feeling of immense happiness when you see a seemingly good actor acting well, not only in one role but in both the roles assigned to him. 
 
Neither do we see Khan hopelessly wooing a girl, nor do we see him using his persona and charm to make the movie work; in fact, Khan, for a change, has managed to act so well that it reminds us of his good old days, when he used to rule the space of thriller movies, like Baazigar, Darr and Anjaam. 
 The film is directed by <keyword id="112723" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maneesh-Sharma">Maneesh Sharma</keyword>, who has helmed successful romantic movies like Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Shuddh Desi Romance, and looks like this thriller is well-made too.

<ul><li>Latest data released by FADA shows that EVs now account for 8% of total <keyword id="46211" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="auto-sales" source="Orion">auto sales</keyword>. </li><li>The ride ahead won’t be smooth due to inventory issues, regulatory norms and other headwinds. </li><li>Challenges will differ for each sub-sector, adds the report. </li></ul> The May heat did not deter auto sales much as sales rose an impressive 10% compared to a year ago. However, the industry which has struggled since the Covid -19 hit, isn’t out of the woods yet, as per industry body Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). For starters, the reading is still below the pre-pandemic level. “While there has been a slight 2% decline compared to pre-Covid levels, the overall retail figures have shown improvement. The two-wheeler and commercial vehicles (CV) sales did continue to face some challenges, recording high-single-digit setbacks of 8% and 7% respectively,” said Manish Raj Singhania, president of FADA. Each sub-sector, be it two-wheelers or passenger vehicles, is expected to face a different set of challenges. Two-wheeler sales picked up in May as they grew 9% year-on-year, thanks to the wedding season and recovery in rural demand. Added to that, the changes in FAME which have taken effect from this month, also prompted higher electric 2-wheeler sales in May. The phase II of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles (FAME) scheme commenced in 2019 for a period of three years, and extended till March 2024. The Heavy Industries Ministry notified in late May that it has reduced the subsidy provided under the scheme to electric two wheelers. After FAME subsidies were slashed, players like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/auto/news/tvs-ather-ola-hike-prices-of-electric-two-wheelers-as-new-subsidy-norms-kick-in/articleshow/100679993.cms">TVS, Ather and Ola </a>increased prices. Though seasonal factors could boost demand for two wheelers in general, there will be concerns like weather-induced walk-in reductions, inventory, and regulatory norms, said FADA. Inventory worries Passenger vehicle sales grew 4% in May year-on-year, recovering from a slump seen in April. “Improved availability of vehicles, the strength of pending orders, and the robust demand for new launches drove a positive momentum,” said Singhania. Going ahead, the industry body expects the PV sector to see increased demand, particularly for new models, compact and full-sized sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and electric vehicles (EVs). But inventory pressure and right model availability could pose challenges, it added. Three wheelers are maintaining their good run as their sales went up by 79%, while tractor sales also went up almost 10% in May, compared to last year. Commercial vehicle sales also grew 7%. The commercial vehicle segment experienced sustained growth, underpinned by the government's focus on infrastructure development. The bus segment displayed a notable increase, driven by improved financing options and higher sales in academic institutions, FADA said. Going forward, however, the CV sector anticipates improved vehicle availability but concerns about real driver emission (RDE) norms and seasonal effects may impact sales. sales of EVs registered an impressive show in May, and accounted for 8% of total vehicle retail. A surge in two-wheeler sales is also one of the reasons, as 7% of total sales in this category were EVs. <keyword id="1671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword>'s highly anticipated film "<keyword id="6385067" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="fan">Fan</keyword>", which features King Khan in a double role of a superstar and his obsessed fan, has impressed the audiences in India. The <keyword id="112723" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maneesh-Sharma">Maneesh Sharma</keyword> directorial has minted over Rs.19.20 crore on its opening day on Friday. 
 
Made on a budget of Rs.105 crore, including publicity and advertisements, "Fan" released in over 3500 screen in India and over 4600 screens around the world. The film, which also stars Waluscha De Sousa and Shriya Pilgaonkar, has collected Rs.19.20 crore on its opening day, said a statement. 
 
Released under the Yash Raj Films banner, "Fan" tells the story of Gaurav, who wishes to meet his favourite star Aryan and later turns obsessed by him and tries to destroy his stardom. 
 
Interestingly, both the characters have been played by Shah Rukh himself. 
Not only the critics and the audience, the film has been given a thumbs up by a lot of celebrities who have applauded the film over social media. 
 With such an impressive start, the buzz for the film is now expected to grow at the box office over the weekend, says trade analyst <keyword id="107593" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Taran-Adarsh">Taran Adarsh</keyword>. 
 
"'Fan' records fantastic biz on Friday. Multiplexes/metros are rocking. Friday Rs.19.20 crore. India biz. Saturday and Sunday biz is crucial to put up a strong total," Adarsh posted on Twitter.
