Jaipur, Apr 25 () Confusion prevailed among traders and shopkeepers across Rajasthan following the Centre's decision to allow some shops to open with mandatory precautions - like wearing of masks and social distancing -amid the current lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19.<p>Shops opened in some areas and were closed later as the administration intervened. Many mandis and towns of the state are also reported to have shops opened first and later being closed.</p><p>Ravi Jindal, president of Sikar Road Trade Association, said some shopkeepers who opened shops in the morning were closed later on as no clear instructions had come.</p><p>The shops will now be opened only after the situation becomes clear, he added.</p><p>Amid confusion, traders and businessmen kept inquiring authorities for clarification.</p><p>A shopkeeper from Hanumangarh district said that after reading this news today, he and several other shopkeepers could not open shops as the situation was not clear.</p><p>Meanwhile, the state's home department has also issued an order to clarify the situation in the afternoon, an official said.</p><p>The Union Home Ministry issued a clarification on Saturday afternoon that in rural areas, all shops except shopping malls are allowed to be opened, whereas in urban areas, all standalone shops, neighborhood shops and residential complexes Shops are allowed to open.</p><p>On Friday night, the Union Home Ministry had issued an order allowing all the registered shops in all the states and union territories to open with certain conditions from Saturday.</p>Entire state is under lockdown from March 22. By partnering with Uniket, shopkeepers can further grow their business and drive a wave of modernization by embracing technology,” said Harsh Shah, Co-founder at Fynd. <br /><br />Uniket aims to also work as a buying platform that will help shopkeepers with sourcing. According to Shah, the Uniket store app offers up to 45% margin on bulk orders and 15% commission on customer orders. <br /><br />The product is already being used by 6,500 stores across 350 cities. In another six months, it wants to expand it reach multifold to 60,000 retailers.<br /><br />“Through Fynd Store, we are already able to help organized <keyword id="6354851" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="retail">retail</keyword> stores in metro cities get extra visibility and drive sales. Over the past few years, it has accrued <a href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/arashiyama/">649,000 photo tags on Instagram,</a> many taken during red maple and cherry blossom seasons. Its bamboo forest alone has <a href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/arashiyamabambooforest/">72,700</a> tags.</p><p>More often than not, the path through Arashiyama's bamboo forest is flooded with sightseers - but in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in China, which has infected <a href="https://www.cnn.com/asia/live-news/coronavirus-outbreak-02-18-20-intl-hnk/index.html">over 73,000 and killed more than 1,800 worldwide, </a>Kyoto shopkeepers have noticed a downtick in the number of tourists.</p><p>"Even though it is a low season, there are fewer visitors than usual due to the influence of the coronavirus!" the neighborhood hospitality association <a href="https://twitter.com/sagaarashiyamao/status/1228430623850713088">tweeted on February 15</a>.</p><p>In 2019, Japan received a <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/japans-tourism-hits-record-numbers-in-2019-300979556.html">record </a><a href="https://www.tourism.jp/en/tourism-database/stats/inbound/">32 million tourists</a>, and Kyoto accordingly received an influx of visitors. While data reflecting the impact of COVID-19 on tourism to Japan won't be available until later this month, <a href="https://apnews.com/7664d7127a80b72ecb53605069ef12c2">according to AP's Grant Peck</a>, locals have already been commenting on it.</p><p>Shopkeepers near major attractions in Kyoto shared their observations of decreasing visitor traffic with local newspaper Kyoto Shimbun, Casey Baseel <a href="https://japantoday.com/category/national/Kyoto-tourist-crowds-disappearing-due-to-coronavirus-outbreak">reported</a> for Tokyo-based news site SoraNews24. "This is the most dramatic drop in traveler traffic I've seen [in over 30 years]," a shopkeeper near Kiyomizudera temple told Kyoto Shimbun. Another, who works near Fushimi Inari Taisha Shinto shrine, said that while 200 tour buses usually come in per day, "now it's just a few." A third, who works near Kyoto's Golden Pavilion, estimated that crowds are half the size they usually are in February.</p><p>In response, local shopkeepers have created an "empty tourism" campaign, enticing visitors with images of uncrowded attractions, Emiko Jozuka <a href="https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/coronavirus-japan-kyoto-empty-tourism-campaign-hnk-intl/index.html">reported for CNN Travel</a>.</p><p>Jozuka identified the photos and translated the captions.</p><p>"It's been a while since there were more monkeys than humans," one image reads. Another shows tourist-favorited Togetsukyo Bridge without visitors. The bridge is also a popular destination for viewing spring cherry blossoms.</p><h2>Tourism-dependent Asian countries are feeling the effect of China's travel restrictions</h2><p>In late January, China <a href="https://skift.com/2020/01/26/china-cancels-group-trips-as-coronavirus-control-measures-expand/">instituted a ban</a> on all outbound group travel from the country, and earlier this month, Japan <a href="https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2020/02/5481d14af447-urgent-japan-extends-entry-ban-to-visitors-from-chinas-zhejiang-province.html">banned residents</a> of China's Hubei and Zhejiang provinces from traveling to Japan.</p><p>"It's not like there are no Chinese at all," Tomotsugu Mizukami, spokesman for the Kyoto City Tourism Association, told Peck on Monday in a telephone interview. "But the effect is clearly visible."</p><p>Over <a href="https://apnews.com/7664d7127a80b72ecb53605069ef12c2">150 million Chinese tourists traveled outside the country in 2018</a>, and t<a href="https://time.com/5783505/thailand-asia-tourism-covid-19-china-coronavirus/">ourism-dependent Asian countries such as Thailand</a> are feeling the effects of China's travel restrictions acutely. In 2019, <a href="https://apnews.com/7664d7127a80b72ecb53605069ef12c2">9.6 million Chinese</a> tourists visited Japan, comprising one-third of Japan's total visitors. If you thought the new Rs 2,000 notes are indigenous and cannot be faked, these four men have proved you and the Indian government wrong. "Shashank and Madhu Kumar copied the new 2,000 rupee denomination note in their friend's Xerox shop. Then they had cut the paper according to size. They used a glitter pen to give that green tinge," said Anuchet.<br />

Apart from these two, there were two other friends - Kiran Kumar and Nagaraj – who were also in on the plan. They were caught when a shop keeper suspected that the note he had been handed was fake.<br />

Two of the accused men worked in a mobile shop, one is a mechanic and one drives an auto.<br />

In countries where work-life balance is prioritized, there's more room for relaxed, genuine connections, whether with locals or expats.</p><p>Back in the US, I've noticed that forming deep connections takes longer and feels more planned.</p><p>Social time is scheduled — brunch or drinks, maybe a hike. Everyone's busy, and with so many of my friends working traditional 9-to-5s, finding good quality time together is harder.</p><p>Here, friendship feels more like something you fit into your calendar than something you stumble into naturally.</p><p>I know I'm incredibly privileged to have had the freedom to move around the world and now return to my highly developed home country. But even here in the US, we have so much to learn from the rest of the world — about balance, connection, and how we approach daily life.</p>

We took a weekend trip to Florence, where I showed her my first apartment in Italy, and traveled to Siena, my favorite medieval city.</p><p>I remember her screaming, "There he is!" You can often successfully grow whole new plants from small clippings, so you're really impacting a shop's business.</p><p>"Don't pluck a leaf, a chunk off a cactus, or a vine from a plant," Reba Hamilton, the owner of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.virgilsplantshop.com/">Virgil's Plant Shop</a>, said. "If you see a chunk lying on the floor, that is a great opportunity to bring it to the shopkeeper and let them know how you found it."</p><h2 id="1df10767-d3e0-4577-baa8-a5a8d316d3c4">Don't administer 'care' to the plants</h2><div type="image" title="someone pruning a houseplant" height="3324" width="4432" msid="112660990" hostid="261" sizebytes="302776"></div><p>Taking care of the plants in a retail store, especially a specialty shop, is out of bounds.</p><p>"Don't water a plant you think needs watering or pull off a leaf that you think is 'dead' because it's yellowing," Andie Schultz, an inventory manager at rOOTS KC, said.</p><p>Employees are trained to know <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/home/best-plant-first-garden">different plants' needs</a> and most likely have a watering and pruning schedule based on the delivery date and humidity needs.</p><h2 id="9171d461-a00c-4d34-9d1d-2bfcd4da14b5">Don't shake the plants</h2><p>Shaking plants to make them stronger and heartier has become a bit of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.epicgardening.com/does-plant-shaking-work/">a trend online</a>. But Cate Ferguson, a plant-care consultant at rOOTS KC, said the practice can actually damage some species.</p><p>Whether you're an expert on this sort of thing or not, as a customer, it's not your job to shake the plants and potentially cause harm.</p><h2 id="edbb8a44-ffaa-4dab-85fd-da680e2abc9e">Infesting a shop with pests is a bad look</h2><div type="image" title="a gnat trap sitting in a houseplant" height="1328" width="1771" msid="112660986" hostid="261" sizebytes="62012"></div><p>If you're having plant problems involving bugs, don't show up to your local nursery with the plant in hand.</p><p>"Never bring in your plants from home without thoroughly checking for pests," Budrow said. "Plant pests spread quickly and you could be doing major damage to the shop's inventory."</p><p>Instead, call the store — or another trusted plant person — for troubleshooting and advice.</p>
