Mumbai, Feb 7 () Low-cost carrier Spicejet has appointed Shilpa Bhatia as its new chief commercial officer. Bhatia will report to Ajay Singh, chairman and managing director and will look after revenue management, sales and network planning, the airline said in a statement on Friday. This is Bhatia's third stint with Spicejet having had served as the chief sales and revenue officer in her last stint. Shilpa has worked with Indigo, Sahara Airlines, Amadeus and GMG Airlines in leading roles in the past. BEN SHWSHW

Not just bride or groom, it’s even a grace for numerous celebrities and page three personalities who need to maintain status at red carpet events. Many a time it is said that wedding attires are useless as they are never ever used. Well, that’s the thing. You rent it, look good and return. 
So how did it all began? Shilpa credits the “Chowmahalla Palace” in Hyderabad as the motivation behind her store design. Starting out as a young fashion stylist to becoming an innovator- that’s really an achievement. 
 
She is quite democratic in her clientele. “In terms of money, people from both ends of the spectrum, i.e. the super-rich and the moderately or not so well off have come to me for their clothing needs. Fashion – aware people who belong to a cosmopolitan setting and people without any inkling of fashion who come from humble backgrounds have also come to my store,” said Shilpa. 
 
“There are some people who are aware of top fashion brands and their heritage and history, but most people that come aren’t. They are taken by surprise when they come to know about the value of the clothes. People mostly come with an image in mind. Like they would want to get the same type of a clothes that an actor / actress wore in a movie or an ad. Depending on their clientele, my team looks to guide people so that they are satisfied and have a great experience,” added she. 
 
 
 Pricing is figured out on the perceptions of the clients’ likes and dislikes. Fabric, colour and styles impact pricing. The demand among the clients is made by making them aware of the brand value. Reputation and brands do matter, agrees Shilpa. Once she bought a <keyword id="15578" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Halle-Berry">Halle Berry</keyword> worn gown worth Rs 4 lakhs, which hardly had any takers. 
 
So how does she source the clothes? “I have worked in the fashion industry long enough to have a vast network of contacts. I find out about their portfolio, and urge them to provide clothes that I like at reasonable discounts. I also follow brands from around the world, and source directly from them when required,” said she. 
 
Talking about her initial challenges, Shilpa said, clients would come to my store and really savour being in a beautiful environment. They were taken aback slightly when they realized that these über expensive clothes could be afforded on rent at much lower prices. I am trying to change the stereotype about rented clothes by informing the masses that even beautiful and fashionable clothes can be rented.”

Mumbai, Feb 19 () No-frills carrier SpiceJet on Wednesday said it will launch 20 new flights on its domestic routes, including some services under the government's regional connectivity scheme, Udan, from late next month as part of the airline's summer schedule. The new flights, starting from March 29, include services to Patna from Amritsar, Varanasi and Guwahati. Besides, it will also launch flights on Hyderabad-Mangaluru, Bengaluru-Jabalpur and Mumbai-Aurangabad routes, all under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), for the first time on its network, the airline said in a release. The new services will fly daily and will be operated by a mix of Boeing 737-800 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft, it stated. These services will enhance connectivity between key metros and smaller cities, it said. With the commencement of these new flights, the airline will have a total of 52 flights connecting 12 cities under the RCS scheme, SpiceJet said. "We are excited to announce the launch of 20 new domestic flights. As we add newer cities and flights to our network, our focus remains firmly on connecting the unconnected parts of the country besides enhancing connectivity between metros and non-metros," SpiceJet Chief Commercial Officer Shilpa Bhatia was quoted as saying in the release. SpiceJet said it will also enhance its operations with additional frequencies on the Mumbai-Bagdogra and Mumbai-Chennai routes with the addition of a second and fifth flight, respectively.. Barclays just named its new crop managing directors. Here is the list

The festive season is almost here. If you need more proof, you can consider visiting Spicejet’s website. The low cost carrier, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Cash-strapped-Spicejet-to-get-new-investors/articleshow/48205297.cms">which almost went cash strapped</a>, is offering a 3-day discounted one-way fare scheme, which will have tickets priced between Rs 799 and Rs 2699. This is valid on more than 100,000 seats (excluding taxes). 
 
"We are known as the airline that has made air travel more affordable for more Indians than ever before, revolutionising the industry and driving record growth in passengers in the process," said Shilpa Bhatia, senior vice president and head of sales and distribution for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Dont-have-a-confirmed-train-ticket-No-problem-Upgrade-to-Spicejet-Heres-how/articleshow/47586199.cms">SpiceJet</a>. 
 
Under the new discount scheme, single one-way fare between Delhi and Mumbai or Mumbai and Chennai will work out at Rs.1,899 (excluding taxes). 
 
With taxes, the fare on these routes will stand at Rs.2,999 for one-way ticket. Similarly, for Mumbai-Kolkata, the complete fare including taxes stand at Rs.3,799 for one-way.

The scheme will be available from August 20 to 22 midnight. The travel period covered under this sale period starts from August 25, 2015 to March 26, 2016. The sale is valid only for direct flights within SpiceJet's domestic network. 
 
To sweeten the deal further, the airline is also offering 10 percent additional discount to those passengers who are booking through SpiceJet's mobile App on Apples iOS and Android platforms. 
 
However, the airline added that the tickets under the offer are non-refundable -- only taxes and fees are refundable.
