<ul class="summary-list"><li>Actor and host Sherri Shepherd admits she hid a camera in her son's room when he brought his girlfriend over.</li><li>In a new <a href="https://youtu.be/MmnzUqVfZJQ?si=8tAgKO3-tpsb5Nce">SiriusXM interview</a>, she said she used DoorDash to buy the spy cameras and set them up while he was home.</li></ul><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/sherri-shepherd-sharon-osbourne-crossed-line-the-talk-drama-2021-3">Sherri Shepherd</a> admits that she once hid cameras in her son's room to spy on him and his girlfriend.</p><p>During a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmnzUqVfZJQ&amp;ab_channel=RadioAndy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SiriusXM's "Andy Cohen Live"</a> interview, Shepherd revealed that she tried to keep tabs on her son and his girlfriend while they were hanging out at her house to make sure they were keeping things PG.</p><p>"The girl came over to the house and I remember calling <a href="https://www.insider.com/garcelle-beauvais-andy-cohen-apology-rhobh-reunion-12-2022-11">Garcelle Beauvais</a> and I was like, 'Oh my God, the girl's coming over to the house, and they want to kiss,'" Shepherd told radio host <a href="https://www.insider.com/andy-cohen-anderson-coopers-good-threesomes-throuple-2023-5">Andy Cohen</a>. "And she was like, 'Girl, I know because, you know, I'm going through it with my son.'" </p><p>Shepherd ended up buying several hidden cameras on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hawaii-doordash-driver-annual-pay-tipping-trends-food-delivery-paradise-2023-7?_gl=1*wwrl19*_ga*MTkyMjM0ODQ2Ni4xNjY4MDUyNjEz*_ga_E21CV80ZCZ*MTY5NjU1OTM5OC45NDcuMS4xNjk2NTYwNTU4LjU2LjAuMA..">DoorDash</a> with the intention of placing them around her house, she said. The 56-year-old hid the first camera in the family room before heading down to her basement to watch the video feed.</p><p>"He didn't know," the actor and television host added, referring to her son being unaware that his private moments were being caught on camera.</p><p>"I showed Garcelle pictures and I go, 'They're not doing anything.' And then I was like, 'Oh God, they're kissing. I can't.' And I couldn't watch it," Shepherd told Cohen.</p><p>The situation took a turn when her son invited his girlfriend up to his bedroom.</p><p>"I ran up before them and I said, 'Jeffrey, I gotta get the laundry,'" Shepherd said. "And I ran up because I had a camera, and it literally was like 'Mission Impossible.'"</p><p>Cohen, surprised by Shepherd's admission, then tried to clarify what was going on.</p><p>"Hold on, hold on. You ran up with the intention with this camera of putting it in his room?" Cohen asked Shepherd, to which she confirmed, "In his room."</p><p>"I tore up the box and I'm trying to read how you put the camera on WiFi, and I can hear them talking and they're coming upstairs, and I'm like, 'Oh my God,'" Shepherd said.</p><p>She added that she was trying to put the camera on the shelf, and the device finally connected with her phone as the young couple walked into the room.</p><p>And as it turned out, Shepherd didn't have to worry about her son at all, because nothing happened.</p><p>"You know what I realized? My son is such a gentleman," she said. "They play video games, and he would kiss her on the cheek."</p><p>Shepherd has since turned the camera off, she added: "Once she left, I turned it away and took the cord out."</p>

Shepherd joined the show in 2007 and remained a cohost until 2014, departing two years before Hostin joined. She said she would have replied: "Um, I'm grown. I'm raising children. This is a job for me, the way it is for you. I've been asking you during the break. And don't try and cry because if anyone should be crying, it should be me. This is the situation: You tell me where you have heard him say racist things. Educate me."</p><p>Of this incident, Shepherd said that she would expect an apology: "I think that was definitely crossing the line. "People see you defending [Morgan], who has made comments that were racial in nature ... That's a little bit hypocritical."</p><p>Shepherd continued: "I think every situation is different. I really do. <p>First, co-host Sherri Shepherd <a href="http://www.gossipcop.com/sherri-shepherd-leaving-the-view-statement-quit-quits/" target="_blank">announced she was leaving the show</a> after seven years, saying, "I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans."</p>
<p>But a <a href="http://www.gossipcop.com/sherri-shepherd-leaving-the-view-statement-quit-quits/" target="_blank">many are claiming that</a> the real reason behind Shepherd's departure was<span> that </span>ABC<span> and the TV star could not reach a new contract deal after protracted negotiations. Shepherd is also in the midst of a <a href="http://www.people.com/article/sherri-shepherd-divorce-lamar-sally-split-breakup-separation-divorce-custody-battle" target="_blank">very messy divorce</a>.</span></p>
<p>Shortly after Shepherd's announcement, co-host of just one season, <a href="https://twitter.com/JennyMcCarthy" target="_blank">Jenny McCarthy, tweeted</a>: "<span>If Sherri goes... Marrisa Wilson, the founder and creative director of womenswear brand <a href="https://www.instagram.com/marrisawilsonny/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marrisa Wilson New York</a>, grooves through the space with graceful urgency. She's preparing to showcase her Fall/Winter 2023 collection, titled "Rhythmic," at New York Fashion Week and plans on restyling the loft into a runway-worthy venue. </p><p>She'll accomplish just that. In a week, the compact space will transform into a dynamic, immersive NYFW experience: Wilson's very own canvas paintings will hang along a white brick wall; <a href="https://www.instagram.com/heramusiccollective/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hera</a>, an all-female jazz band, will perform live music as models flaunting Wilson's garments and Afro-centric hairstyles caper down the runway; and legendary model <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/ConP42UO3MH/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pat Cleveland will make a surprise appearance</a> and dance with Wilson to close the show.</p><p>But when I meet with Wilson, none of that has happened yet. She's still making ready, and the loft is lined with racks of her unrevealed pieces boasting abstract prints and hand-painted fabrics.</p><p>Amid all of the planning, Wilson takes a moment to reflect. How did being a first-generation Guyanese-American influence you as a designer?</strong></p><p>The colors, spices, and flavors of Guyanese culture that I grew up around are things that I draw from. Going to Guyana as a kid — we have a house down there — and seeing the colors, birds, hearing the language, I felt the shift in how the world moved. There was a slower pace of life.</p><p>My mom is also a creative person. When I was in the second grade, for my First Communion, she reupholstered all the chairs in our kitchen, and there were these scraps of fabric and fabric-covered buttons that she made. She saw me using those buttons on my Barbies and decided to teach me how to hand-sew. Then I got my first little mini sewing machine before graduating to a Brother machine.</p><p>I also used a lot of Teen Vogue magazines for collages. I remember a cover that had Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn. That was the first time that I saw someone that looked like me on a magazine, and I realized there weren't many people that looked like me in fashion. So as I understood myself as a person, I realized there is value in my experience that I wanted to express in my work.</p><div type="image" title="Marrisa Wilson holds a red printed longline jacket while leaning against a rack of clothing." height="4821" width="4366" msid="98344070" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>What aspects of your upbringing have governed your approach to building your brand?</strong></p><p>Guyanese culture involves a strong family dynamic, and I associate that with my entrepreneurial spirit. Starting this company right after I finished school didn't feel that crazy to me because we had a family business growing up, which gave me a hustler mentality. </p><p>That was something that I always had going through school and often being the only person of color in the room. I grew up with this mentality that I'm going to have to be not just good, but better than the rest. I do look back and wish that I gave myself more grace. </p><p>But what I have learned is I can really lean into my lived experiences. My new Fall/Winter '23 collection is inspired by my connection to dance, music, art, and fashion. From when I was 3 up until my early 20s, I did all sorts of competitive dancing, and it was a big part of my life.</p><p><strong>What styles of dance were you trained in?</strong></p><p>All different types: tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical. I really dove into the history of jazz, particularly, because growing up we did a ton of Bob Fosse routines.</p><p>But I wanted to feel more connected to something from a cultural perspective, so I dug into Katherine Dunham. She's considered to be the Black matriarch of modern dance and was known for polyrhythmic movement. She traveled throughout the Caribbean, Haiti, Cuba — all of these different countries — to understand the people and incorporate those cultures into dance. A lot of my new collection is inspired by her costumes.</p><div type="image" title="Marrisa Wilson and Pat Cleveland dance down a runway together." height="3145" width="4718" msid="98344072" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>I would love to hear more about the process of creating your Fall/Winter '23 collection.</strong></p><p>I explored a new medium this time, playing with pastels, which was very new to me, and sketching a ton. I also experimented with painting directly onto the fabric. I had 10 yards of fabric that I painted with this circular motion to replicate a rond de jambe in ballet. I wanted the fabrics and the prints to feel like they were dancing and moving, so there are some that have this lyrical motion to them. </p><p>Then I dug into what I do best: tried-and-true silhouettes; split details; pops of color; utility pockets. What has that been like for you?</strong></p><p>I've built a strong community in the Web3 space, and community is something that's always been important to me. So I knew that I needed to learn and understand this in order to establish a point of view in this space. Because if it's not going to be me, then it's going to be someone else on my behalf.</p><blockquote class="pullquote-wrapper pullquote-breakout"><q class="pullquote-quotation">But I think there are still certain unfavorable perceptions of Black women, which is wild because we're the ones that are driving the volume, the business, and the culture.</q></blockquote><p><strong>How do you feel about the luxury industry's relationship with Black creatives?</strong></p><p>We're in an interesting place right now where we're starting to move toward more Black representation in these spaces. But I think there are still certain unfavorable perceptions of Black women, which is wild because we're the ones that are driving the volume, the business, and the culture. I think we're starting to make progress, but I would love to see more women of color in positions of leadership in the luxury space.</p><p>Something else that's important to me as a Black woman is the styling of all of my shows. I intentionally cast models who bring the clothes together through their own personalities and can command a room with their energy. That's what I feel is really fresh and directional in high-end fashion and what I want to see more of: Not being one archetype of a character for a brand. </p><div type="image" title="A side-by-side collage of two images: one of Marrisa Wilson painting on a canvas and another of a rack with Wilson's green and black garments" height="3454" width="4860" msid="98344074" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>Is there anything in particular in Black history and culture that inspires your designs?</strong></p><p>In terms of the process that I went through with my new collection, I listened to "A Love Supreme" by John Coltrane as a starting place and began sketching.</p><p>I also looked at historical photos of Katherine Dunham and the costumes, headwear, voluminous skirts, colors, and patchwork that she wore. I watched these old videos of a guy playing the bongos while she shook her hips in a very intentional way. It was so cool and inspiring to me. I wanted to use those elements of rhythm. That's why the name of my new collection is "Rhythmic."</p><div type="image" title="A side-by-side collage of two photos featuring Katherine Dunham dancing" height="3445" width="5495" msid="98344075" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>What do you think the future of fashion will look like, and what do you think it should look like?</strong></p><p>I think because of COVID, there's going to continue to be a big shift toward comfort, whether it's visible comfort or something that looks sharp but feels comfortable to wear. We're getting into this hybrid place of dressing up maybe three or four times a week. </p><blockquote class="pullquote-wrapper pullquote-breakout"><q class="pullquote-quotation">Give yourself grace. You're not going to have it all figured out.</q></blockquote><p>It might actually be easier to dress up now because you're not doing it as often. You're having these moments that are less frequent but more impactful. So I think easy-breezy looks that are more elevated and cool is where the industry should be going.</p><p><strong>What advice would you give to the next generation of fashion designers?</strong></p><p>Give yourself grace. You're not going to have it all figured out. School, especially art school and design school, is tough. You're at an age where you're figuring out who you are, and you have people poking at everything that you think you might know about yourself.</p><div type="image" title="Marrisa Wilson stands surrounded by racks of her designed garments" height="6720" width="4480" msid="98344076" hostid="261"></div><p>What I've found helpful is having a point of view on specific elements, like silhouettes, hems, and color palettes. That way, when somebody starts to poke, you can say why you made a decision.</p><p>That's the artist's journey of figuring things out. You're going to get critiques, and it's still going to sting sometimes when you hear things that you don't want to hear. But it certainly makes it easier to have a point of view.</p><p><strong>What have you learned about balancing your creativity with running a business?</strong></p><p>I've learned to separate those things. It would be creatively stifling if I went into a work session and tried to be creative and business-minded in the same setting. I creatively explore and let things sit. Then I look at numbers, pricing, and costs and come at everything as if I'm a different person.</p><p><strong>What are some goals that you have for yourself in the near future? </strong></p><p>I would love to see my art, prints, and brand in a different medium — maybe footwear or experiential art. Continuing to grow as an artist is something that I'm really excited to do. People are furious after Kelly Osbourne asks Donald Trump: 'Who would clean your toilet if you kicked Latinos out of the US?'

"I was like, 'Oh no.' "</p><p>Trump's first tweet was simple, with him thanking actress Sherri Shepherd for her comments about him on "The View" in 2013.</p><p>McConney, who was 24 when he first got Trump to start using Twitter, told Politco that he wanted to develop the now-president's brand on Twitter and other social media platforms.</p><p>"I wanted the Donald Trump who is on Howard Stern, commenting on anything and everything," he said.</p><p><em><strong>Read more:</strong> <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-white-house-trump-administration-photos-during-trumps-second-year-in-office-2018-12">40 photos that tell the story of Trump and his administration in 2018</a></em></p><p>He said initially, Trump had him print out Twitter mentions, and he would write his responses in Sharpie before handing the messages to McConney to type up and send out.</p><p>When he was on "The Apprentice," Trump would phone his tweets to McConney, even dictating the punctuation.</p><p>Despite not knowing much about the new technology, Trump "knew PR and he new news cycles very well," McConney said.</p><p>Once he could tweet on his own, Trump started to weigh in on a number of topics and even feuded with Rosie O'Donnell and former Yankee Alex Rodriguez.</p><p>Now Trump uses the app to tweet an astounding number of times a day. Subjects of his tweets include his border wall, rants about the "Fake News" media, special counsel Robert Mueller's "Witch Hunt," and comments on other political leaders.
