But no decision was taken with regards to T20 World Cup in Australia scheduled to be held in October-November but looking increasingly uncertain because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is understood that Australia's sports minister Richard Colbeck's positive message about the health situation Down Under may have also played a role in ICC keeping the decision on hold while discussing "contingency options". "We will only get one chance to make this decision and it needs to be the right one and as such we will continue to consult with our Members, broadcasters, partners, governments and players and to ensure that we make a well informed decision," ICC chief executive <keyword id="361401" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manu-Sawhney">Manu Sawhney</keyword> said in a statement. Sawhney made it clear that the ICC will try its best to conduct the event in Australia even though Cricket Australia hasn't shown as much keenness in organising the event this year as it has for the high profile India series at the end of the year. "The situation surrounding the global pandemic is evolving rapidly and we want to give ourselves the best possible opportunity to make the right decision for the whole sport. The health and well-being of everyone involved is our priority and other considerations fall out from that," Sawhney added. With no decision taken, it is expected that outgoing chairman Manohar will not take a final call on the future of the event as he will be stepping down this month. However, there was no word on why there was no clarity on the election and nomination process for the next chairman. There was another round of discussions about the e-mail leaks after ICC's Ethics Officer submitted his initial findings. "The enquiry, which is being led by the ICC Ethics Officer, will be supported administratively by a sub-group of the Board comprising Independent Director <keyword id="6421975" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="indra-nooyi">Indra Nooyi</keyword> and Chair of the F&amp;CA <keyword id="106459" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ehsan-Mani">Ehsan Mani</keyword>. "All Members of the Board and ICC Management are party to the enquiry," the ICC release stated.

BCCI wants Indian Premier League to happen — even if that means playing in empty stadiums

<keyword id="6355164" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ICC">ICC</keyword> Chairman <keyword id="6379537" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shashank-Manohar">Shashank Manohar</keyword> has resigned from his post citing personal reasons. While the tenure was of two years, he held the position only for nearly eight months. 
 
The 59-year-old mailed his resignation letter to ICC CEO Dave Richardson, and did not clarify the exact reason behind the decision.

To be passed, a reform needs 2/3rd majority but <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Supreme-Court-says-Indias-cricket-board-cannot-disburse-funds-order-for-independent-auditor/articleshow/54972937.cms">BCCI</a> seems to have brought Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on its side, which probably led Manohar to resign, expecting a loss of face.

"I was elected unopposed as the first independent Chairman of ICC last year. I have tried to do my best and have tried to be fair and impartial in deciding matters in the functioning of the Board and in matters related to Member Boards along with the able support of all Directors," said Manohar’s resignation letter. 
 
"However, for personal reasons it is not possible for me to hold the august office of ICC Chairman and hence I am tendering my resignation as Chairman with immediate effect. 
 
"I take this opportunity to thank all the Directors, the Management and staff of ICC for supporting me wholeheartedly. I wish ICC all the very best and hope it achieves greater heights," he concluded.

Shashank Manohar resigns from ICC citing personal reasons

The <keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword> today decided against terminating the suspended IPL franchises of <keyword id="13886" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chennai-Super-Kings">Chennai Super Kings</keyword> and <keyword id="13802" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rajasthan-Royals">Rajasthan Royals</keyword>, putting an end to the speculation surrounding their fate and ensuring their comeback in the cash-rich league in 2018. 
 
At its working committee meeting, the Board decided that it would go with the Supreme Court-appointed Justice R M Lodha committee's recommendation of suspending the two teams for two years, making the next two IPLs an eight-team affair. 
 
However, the BCCI did not clarify whether IPL will be a 10-team affair from 2018, when CSK and RR will come back to the fold. 
 
"The decision whether it will be a 10-team affair from 2018 will only be taken at the AGM where the other major decisions including bilateral series with Pakistan will be discussed," a senior BCCI office-bearer told PTI. 
 
Among other important decisions taken at today's meeting, the Board has scheduled its Annual General Meeting for November 9. 
 
The BCCI said it will invite fresh bids for two new teams, which will be competing from 2016 onwards to complete the eight-team format in the absence of CSK and RR. 
 
The Working Committee's decision was strictly in lines with the suggestions of the IPL Working Group, which comprised of IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla, secretary Anurag Thakur, former India captain Sourav Ganguly and treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary. 
 
"The Justice Lodha committee interim report will be implemented fully The two franchisee teams, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals remain suspended for two years. BCCI will float tenders and invite bids for two new teams to replace CSK &amp; RR in the Indian Premier League for 2016 and 2017 (2 years)." 
 
Majority of the BCCI members were not too keen on termination of the two IPL franchises, which were involved in the spot-fixing scandal in 2013. 
 
The BCCI top brass has always maintained that it would implement Lodha Committee's recommendations in total and since the Supreme Court appointed committee had suspended for two years, the Working group also stuck by it. 
 The decision was also in consonance with president <keyword id="6379537" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shashank-Manohar">Shashank Manohar</keyword>'s statement that BCCI won't be vindictive towards any of its state units.

With the acquisition, the existing 15-member Circle Internet team has joined ShareChat. "The acquisition will help us penetrate deeper into geographies and nurture a thriving hyperlocal content ecosystem that will understand and serve the latent content needs of, the next billion internet users more effectively," Manohar Charan, Vice President - Corporate Development and Strategic Finance, ShareChat, said in a statement. "Circle App will continue to grow independently and empower our users to post more relevant and contextual content on the platform." By Kushan Sarkar New Delhi, May 24 () Tax exemption for future global cricket events in India has once again become a bone of contention between the BCCI and ICC as the former gears up to host the 2021 T20 World Cup and 50-over showpiece event in 2023. The ICC and BCCI have had a long standing feud on tax exemptions since the 2016 World T20 in India. An ICC spokesperson said that both parties are trying to reach an amicable solution. "The ICC and BCCI have been working in partnership to address the issue of tax exemptions for ICC events that is a requirement of the host agreement signed by all parties at the beginning of the cycle in 2015 and this work is ongoing," the spokesperson tod . "There are certain timelines within the agreements that we collectively work towards to ensure we can deliver successful world class events and continue to invest in the sport of cricket. "In addition to this the ICC Board agreed clear timelines for the resolution of the tax issues which we are guided by," the spokesperson added. While the outgoing ICC chairman Shashank Manohar and chief executive Manu Sawhney have been in constant touch with BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, the BCCI top-brass didn't like the tone of mail sent by the parent body's legal head Jonathan Hall. Hall, in his mail, has written about the BCCI not adhering to timelines on committing to tax exemptions as per the agreement. "The tax structure is not decided by the BCCI but by the Indian government. It is our government that decides whether exemption will be possible or not. For the record, Formula One also wasn't given tax exemption," a senior BCCI official told . Prior to 2016 World T20, the BCCI got tax exemptions for global events, as stated in an earlier documentation of the erstwhile Committee of Administrators (COA). Normally, the ICC seeks exemption on excise duties for importing TV production equipment and ticketing. But in this case, Star Sports, which also has the BCCI's home match rights, has a set up in India. This had been the bone of contention during 2016 Word T20 also and that matter is up for hearing in the ICC tribunal. "We understand that as the nomination process of new ICC chairman starts on Tuesday, suddenly there has been a flurry of communication. You can be rest assured that T20 World Cup in 2021 and 2023 ODI World Cup is going nowhere. "As far as timeline is concerned, we had told ICC that unless lockdown is lifted, we can't have discussions with government officials," the influential member said. Even an ICC Board member said that discussions should be on to find a plausible solution as the first deadline for tax exemption was December, 2019. The tax issue finds mention in a COA document of July 6, 2019, when the BCCI legal team was asked to get in touch with a British law firm as legal cases pertaining to ICC falls under the UK law. BCCI vs ICC tax issue: Exemptions unlikely as per Govt rule, global body cites 'promised timeline'

<keyword id="45963" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Srinivasan">Srinivasan</keyword> was today removed as the ICC Chairman following a decision by the <keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword> to nominate its recently-elected President Shashank Manohar as the chief of the world body. 
 
The decision to remove Srinivasan was taken at the BCCI's 86th Annual General Meeting today, virtually signalling the end of his hold on Indian cricket. 
 
The tenure of Srinivasan, who took over in June last year, was to end next year in the same month and the remainder of the term would be completed by Manohar as it is India's turn to hold the top position. 
 
It is learnt that the resolution favouring replacing Srinivasan with Manohar was passed at the AGM. In case, Manohar cannot attend the ICC meetings, Sharad Pawar will be India's representative. 
 The Tamil Nadu strongman will thus lose his grip on Indian cricket for good after having already been ousted as the BCCI President owing to the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal in which his son-in-law <keyword id="1682587" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gurunath-Meiyappan">Gurunath Meiyappan</keyword> was held guilty of betting charges. 
 Although Srinivasan was not personally indicted for the damaging scandal but the Supreme Court-appointed <keyword id="902780" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="RM-Lodha">RM Lodha</keyword> committee had chided him for not acting on the elements which corrupted the IPL. 
 With his sacking as ICC chairman, Srinivasan now only remains the president of <keyword id="424567" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tamil-Nadu-Cricket-Association">Tamil Nadu Cricket Association</keyword>. His company India Cements had owned the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, which was suspended for two years after its officials were held guilty of betting.

N Srinivasan removed as ICC chairman

The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=BCCI">BCCI</a> Disciplinary Committee on Christmas Eve decided to defer action on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ajit+Chandila">Ajit Chandila</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Hiken+Shah+">Hiken Shah </a>till January 5. That will give the tainted duo enough time till January 4th to file a written response to the charges of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=spot-fixing">spot-fixing</a>. 
 
The three-member committee comprising President Shashank Manohar, Jyotiraditya Scindya and Niranjan Shah met at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai. 
 
Chandila was arrested by the police for trying to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=spot-fixing">spot-fix</a> IPL games in 2013 with Sreesanth and Ankit Chavan from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Rajasthan+Royals">Rajasthan Royals</a>. 
 
Shah approached one of his colleagues from first-class cricket, who was also an IPL player. The approached player then reported it to the franchise, which then passed it BCCI’s Anti Corruption Unit.

BCCI to decide fate of
Chandila and Shah next month

India's cricket board, the <keyword id="81008" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Board-of-Control-for-Cricket-in-India">Board Of Control For Cricket In India</keyword> (<keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword>), has decided to drop a $42 million damages claim against the West Indies because of an abandoned tour in 2014. This has happened after the new World Twenty20 champions agreed to return for a tour next year. 
 
The huge claim lodged by BCCI had threatened to cripple the already cash-stripped West Indies cricket board, which has since long been at loggerheads with its own players over lack of funds. 
 
However, BCCI president Shashank Manohar has told Cricinfo that the claim was dropped after the West Indies agreed to fulfil their original commitments and return for a tour next year. 
 
The case started when West Indies players went back from their India tour in October 2014 because of a long-running pay dispute. The two teams are now due to play one ODI, three Test matches and a T20 international, the schedule of which would be decided later on.

Ever since the first test, Kohli has been in the Australian media's line of fire, especially after he almost called Australian captain Steve Smith a cheat when he sought clues from the dressing room while taking a DRS call. 
 
"Some people want to create some spice sitting at some part of the world. They don't confront such situations themselves. The easiest thing to do is to just sit at home and write a blog or speak on Mic but to go out there and bowl and bat is different," he said while being asked his reaction towards how he was reported in the Australian media. 
 
Talking about his <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/virat-kohli-thanks-his-fitnessand-captaincy-for-his-rampaging-form/articleshow/57095744.cms">captaincy</a>, he said, "I like taking responsibility, every game that I play for India is an opportunity to do something special with my skills. I like getting involved in the game. The workload is something that needs to be kept in mind in future but right now when the body is responding well I am fine," he said. 
 
"It's been unbelievable. This is our best series win so far. The way we bounced back from World No 7 to No. 1 has been an outstanding achievement and I am proud as a captain. I thought (the series against) England was intense, but the way Australia gave us a fight it was amazing on their part but our guys kept bouncing back. We showed true character and maturity. The guys handled themselves well," he added.

"Ajinkya led the team really well. It was very pleasing to see that from the outside." 
 
When asked about his injury and when he would be back in action, he said that it would take him a few weeks to be 100% on the field.
