The era of protests started much before the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) issue raged on. In early November, students started it as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) hiked hostel fee. Later, the winter session of the Parliament has left students and citizens alike taking to the streets protesting the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/bullets-glass-and-stones-fly-all-over-north-east-delhi-killing-5-and-injuring-100/articleshow/74294273.cms">Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)</a>. Recently, depositors of scam-hit PMC Bank staged a protest outside RBI in Delhi asking the banking regulator to take action. Moreso, the victims who saw their savings vanish also said that they would take inspiration from ‘Shaheen Bagh’ protests. Looks like Delhi is not falling short of issues to take to streets about. While most of the above-mentioned issues are resulting in strife across the country, no city is as affected as Delhi which has become the hotbed. Adding to that, most protests are taking a violent turn, and random incidents of gun shots fired by miscreants is not helping Delhi-ites who are already skittish thanks to pollution spikes and inconsistent weather. The residents are unable to keep up a routine either as untoward incidents have been keeping adults from work and children from schools. There have been at least three such incidences where the schools were shut in Delhi. Two months ago, the massive protests against CAA at the Jamia Millia Islamia University had led to closure of schools in South Delhi. And it hasn’t gotten any better since that day. Even today (February 25), the schools will remain shut in the North East Delhi as the intelligence agencies suspect riots in the area. ABP News’ C-Voter survey predicts that the Arvind Kejriwal-led political party won’t just lead by a small margin, but with a whopping majority bagging anywhere between 42 to 56 seats out of the grand total of 70. The vote share will also skew in AAP’s favour with CVoter expecting 45.6% votes in their name. BJP, on the other hand, will only be able to capture 10 to 24 seats and pull 37.1% vote share. Congress, Delhi’s former-favourite, is polling at the bottom of the barrel with polls expecting a maximum of four seats to their name. Times Now’s IPSOS poll predicts a similar outcome with 54 to 60 seats going to the AAP and the remaining 10 to 14 seats going to the BJP. the polls predict AAP to win, the seats under their wing are set to reduce. During the last Delhi Assembly election in 2015, AAP garnered 67 seats with the remaining 3 going to the BJP. The BJP was hoping that the Shaheen Bagh protests would turn the tables in their favour by citing the city’s law and order problem. However, law and order is controlled by the central government and not the local administration. "Your vote to BJP candidate will make Delhi and the country safe and prevent thousands of incidents like Shaheen Bagh. When you press the button (on EVM) on February 8, do so with such anger that its current is felt at Shaheen Bagh," said Union Minister Amit Shah at an election rally. Kejriwal and other AAP members, on the other hand, have focused on day-to-day issues like electricity, education and water. "This is the first time that elections in Delhi have the chief minister asking citizens to cast their vote for him, only if they believe he’s done the work,” says Raghav Chaddha, AAP candidate running from Rajinder Nagar.  These are some of the highlights from the voting day: The polling began at 8 am and will end at 6 pm. The voter turnout has been recorded at 4.33% till 10 am, according to ANI. Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal who cast his vote, along with his family, in the New Delhi constituency made several appeals to the electorate. "You must go to vote. Special appeal to all women - Just like you bear the responsibility of home, the responsibility of the country and Delhi is also on you. All of you ladies must go to vote and also take the men of your house. Make sure to discuss with men about who are the right ones to vote for," Kejriwal said in a tweet this morning in Hindi. Soon after, he expressed anguish over reported attempts to bribe voters. The Election Commission's data shows that they seized ₹57 crore -- ₹12.33 crore cash, ₹2.83 core liquor and ₹42.32 in other assets like narcotics, bullion and jewelry. "Because of our enforcement and the preventive action, the election has passed peacefully," said the Election Commissioner of Delhi. Multiple EVM snags were also reported, including <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/politics/delhi-elections-2020-live-updates-assembly-polls-voting-aap-bjp-congress-shaheen-bagh-arvind-kejriwal-modi-2492067.html" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">one in Kejriwal's constituency</a>.  A police officer who reportedly shot a fellow woman cop before committing suicide casts a tense shadow on the mood in Delhi on voting day, according to a TV channel Mirror Now. Security has been beefed up along the borders of Delhi. Video recordings and vehicles are being checked at 36 points between Ghaziabad and Delhi, <a href="https://www.aninews.in/news/national/general-news/tight-vigil-at-ghaziabad-gurugram-border-ahead-of-polling-today20200208033646/" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">according to an ANI report</a>. Security forces kept a tight watch across the 70 constituencies, with police and paramilitary personnel keeping an "extra vigil" in sensitive areas like Shaheen Bagh, Jamia Nagar and Seelampuri, the IANS reported. The police have deployed around 40,000 security personnel, 19,000 home guards and 190 companies of Central Armed Police Forces to ensure smooth conduct of the polls. 111 years old Kalitara Mandal, the oldest voter of Delhi, cast her vote today. "I've always cast my vote ever since I received my voter ID. I feel happy while casting vote. It gives me power. I wish each &amp; every citizen casts his vote," she reportedly said. At 8:00 pm, the voter turnout was at 57.68%. However, voting is still underway. "Till everyone who was at the polling stations at 6:00pm have voted, the polling will go on at the polling stations concerned," said the Election Commissioner of Delhi. As the work-life balance get blurred globally in the pandemic times, <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> came out top with over 41 per cent of workers citing the lack of separation between work and personal life negatively impacting their wellbeing, resulting in increased stress levels, a Microsoft study revealed on Wednesday. Close to one third of workers in India cited increased rates of <keyword id="84644" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="burnout">burnout</keyword> over the past six months, according to Microsoft's latest 'Work Trend Index' report. "As businesses adapt to a new way of working, it is important to examine the multifaceted impact that the new working conditions are having on employees. This is helping us provide relevant and timely solutions to all our customers and users," said Samik Roy, Country Head, Modern Work, Microsoft India. Surveying over 6,000 information and first-line workers across eight countries globally including Australia, Japan, India and Singapore, the study found that India had the second highest percentage of workers facing increased burnout in Asia, at 29 per cent. The findings showed that no commute may be hurting, not helping, remote worker productivity. A massive 92 per cent those surveyed said meditation can decrease work-related stress. Microsoft recently announced a series of updates within Teams to support employee wellbeing, including virtual commute experience and a curated set of mindfulness and meditation experiences. The study found that 29 per cent of workers in India are experiencing increased burnout at work, owing to its increase in workday span by one hour. "While workers in Australia saw the highest increase in workday span in Microsoft Teams at 45 percent, with a medium increase in burnout, India had the longest workday span of surveyed markets". The top stressors shared by workers in India was the worry about contracting Covid-19 at work and feeling isolated or disconnected from co-workers, at 42 and 35 per cent respectively. The study also found that 19 percent of workers have not been provided the tech or protective equipment they need to effectively socially distance by their company, contributing to increased stress levels. "In the last six months, we have seen how Covid-19 has created an era of remote everywhere. It has led to the evolution of a new workplace -- from a physical space to one residing in a virtual world," Roy said. Ahlawat was shot in the head and died on the spot, the police said. Police also mentioned that the body had been sent for autopsy and the local CCTV footage was obtained. Delhi Police suspected a personal enmity and claimed that the attacker had been identified, but no arrests have been made as of now. Three empty cartridges of bullets were found with multiple gunshots from the crime scene, adding a case has been registered, the police <a href="https://www.outlookindia.com/newsscroll/woman-cop-shot-dead-near-rohini-east-metro-station/1729095">said</a>. Ahlawat was posted in Delhi at the Patparganj Industrial Area police station. The sub-inspector belonged to Sonipat, Haryana and was presently staying at a rented apartment in Rohini. The news came less than 12 hours before Delhi election polling were left. The Delhi Police have tight security arrangements in place across the national capital as the polling began at 8 am today for 70 assembly seats in Delhi. They threatened to go on a hunger strike after March 2 if their money is not returned and their concerns not addressed. If they do not listen to us, we will block the road outside the RBI." Tek Chand, who has an account with Tilak Nagar branch, said, "My wife is a kidney patient and she has to undergo dialysis thrice every month. What am I supposed to do? I have been left helpless due to the situation. it is our hard earned money." Another depositor, <keyword id="8827022" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="tajinder-pal-singh-gujral">Tajinder Pal Singh Gujral</keyword>, a resident of Janakpuri, had deposited Rs 2.5 crore in the bank after he sold his house, a day before the bank shut down in September. "I had sold off my house and the payment from that deal had come into my account with the PMC bank. I had booked another house and given Rs 5 lakh as down payment and was supposed to pay for it from the PMC account. But, now, those Rs 5 lakh are also gone and this money is also stuck. I cannot buy a house or do anything for my business," he said. The bank, over a long period of time, had given over Rs 6,500 crore in loans to HDIL, which is 73 per cent of its total advances, and which has turned sour with a shift in the fortunes of the now bankrupt company.
