A kiosk named “SELFIEwithMODI” has been grabbing the eyeballs of millions of Delhi residents, as it allows them to get a virtual selfie clicked with the honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi. 
 
There are more than 20 mobile kiosks roaming around the city, enabling people to get a selfie with the charismatic leader. The kiosk has a large banner of the PM, with a camera and a tripod; people are allowed to just step in and get clicked. The kiosk has been aptly launched at a time when the political scenario of the city is under a supposed makeover. 
 
In just two days of its operation, there have been claims of more than 2 lakh selfies being clicked using the software. This seems to have inspired BJP people to install 100 more such kiosks so that people can have a feel of how it feels to be clicked with a leader of his stature. 
 
The first booth was installed in Khan Market and was inaugurated by BJP Vice President Amit Shah.

New Delhi, Oct 2 (IANS) At a time when beauty filters in selfies are affecting the overall well-being and mental health of many especially the teenagers and young adults, Google has announced some respite, saying that the face retouching options are available in the camera app of Pixel smartphones but turned off by default. With Pixel phones, the company has begun to apply new design principles directly within the camera app, starting with the Pixel 4a, the new Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5. "In an upcoming update, you'll see value-free, descriptive icons and labels for face retouching options," said Vinit Modi, Product Manager at Google. "And if you choose to use face retouching effects, you'll see more information about how each setting is applied and what changes it makes to your image," Modi said in a blog post on Thursday. Google said if face retouching filters are on, this should be clearly indicated in the product experience. And when it's off, it should stay off. Today, more than 70 per cent of photos taken on an Android device use the front-facing camera, and over 24 billion photos have been labeled as selfies in Google Photos. The tech giant conducted multiple studies on this burning subject and spoke with child and mental health experts from around the world. It found that when you're not aware that a camera or photo app has applied a filter, the photos can negatively impact mental wellbeing. These default filters can quietly set a beauty standard that some people compare themselves against. "To put our research into practice, we created a framework to build and design products that support your wellbeing as well as an intentional relationship with technology," Google informed. An app that shares Google's viewpoint is Snapchat. Their default camera experience is always unfiltered, and you have the option to opt-in to lenses. Searching "selfie editor" in the iTunes App Store yields more than 600 results, all with vaguely insensitive names like FaceTune, Modiface, and Perfect365.They're wildly popular, too. After celebrating the first anniversary of NaMo government with much pomp and show, the government’s can of worms is slowly opening up. 
 After the infamous Lalitgate incident, wherein party’s senior leaders, Rajasthan’s chief minister Vasundhara Raje, and Minister of External Affairs, <keyword id="6355111" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sushma-Swaraj">Sushma Swaraj</keyword> are involved of favouring ill-famed <keyword id="3257" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lalit-Modi">Lalit Modi</keyword>, the multi-crore <keyword id="1983715" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vyapam-scam">Vyapam scam</keyword> is threatening to blow the lids off for the <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> government. 
 
The 45 unexplained deaths in Vyapam scam, one after the other, just like a movie plot, has left us stunned. But what is more disappointingly shocking for all of us is the unsettling silence of our otherwise outspoken Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But it is déjà vu for us? 
 
If you ask anyone what they remember best about the previous UPA government, they may say that it is the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s eternal silence on every scam that was done right under his nose. And it seems, this is being replicated by the successive government as well. 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had his ‘Mann ki baat’ with the aam aadmi in the country on June 28. And while he spoke at length on diverse topics and encouraged people to click #SelfieWithDaughter as a part of his ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, he has maintained a contentious silence on the spree of murders in Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam scam and the Lalit Modi controversy that is clearly denting the government’s image. 
 
Well, if one recalls, it was the BJP and its then Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who vociferously and categorically criticized former PM Manmohan Singh for his inability to speak against the complete anarchy in his government. 
 
On the last day of the National Council meeting ahead of the General Elections last year, Narendra Modi had labelled Manmohan Singh as ‘night watchman’. An overwhelming 2000 plus crowd cheered him as he went on with his digs at the 70 year old the then Prime Minister Singh. 
 “The <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> has appointed Manmohan Singh as a night watchman…He is nothing but a puppet in the hands of the Gandhi family,” he said as the crowd went hysteric. Fast forward to June 2015, one can see a similar silence is being maintained by our superstar Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this raging controversy. 
 
PM Modi, who is quite social on Twitter, has maintained an unsettling silence there as well. Really Mr. Modi? Do you have nothing to say on the controversies that involve party’s veterans. 
 
Obviously his reticence on the controversies has not gone unnoticed. Hawk-eyed Congress has literally jumped on the opportunity to question his silence over his government’s involvement in corruption. After all, PM Modi had blown the trumpet against corruption when he said, “BJP is for a mission, Congress is for commission.” 
 
Well, his silence on recent controversy is anything but acceptable. In the Lalitgate case, the NaMo government was quick to brush aside the various documents produced by the media while its spokespersons were brazenly defending the ministers’ actions. On the other hand, the BJP government has assured of transparent investigation in the Vyapam scam, however, the string of murders has stated otherwise. No wonder, the Supreme Court had to intervene and direct the top investigating agency in India, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take charge of the scam. 
 
The Lalit Modi controversy has successfully questioned the government’s functioning in cases of corruption while Vyapam scam threatens to reveal many skeletons in the closet. It is certain that BJP’s honeymoon period is over and there is a growing voice within the party against the tainted leaders. But with PM Modi’s brazen silence on the matter, it remains to be seen if the public is forgiving enough for them to let him go off the hook!

It’s not the era of golden silence PM Modi! Speak up before it is
too late

While the nation is celebrating his birthday on Twitter since midnight, Internet giant Google celebrated the 100th birthday of the Picasso of India, the ‘infamous’ artist <keyword id="117512" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="M-F-Husain">M.F. Husain</keyword>. Just when you open the search engine expecting to see the Doodle on Modi! 

	India is thankful to Google though <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Educate-In-India-Narendra-Modis-new-pet-project/articleshow/47456640.cms">Narendra Modi</a> might not be. Looking beyond the ego-battle, <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> should be thankful that this Art Master was born and turned 100 today. Here’s why a man claiming to be the true Indian has much to thank the self-exiled true Indian for. 
	 
	 

	1. Using some of the painter’s favourite colours, notably pastels of red, yellow ochre, blue, mud brown, <keyword id="419433" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="google-doodle">Google Doodle</keyword> was an abstract geometric illustration with MF Husain’s self portrait holding a brush in the middle. MF Hussain was among those rare artists whose prized collections of life works also include an accurate self-portrait. 

	In Modi’s selfies and publicity, the nation is fed with a hazy picture of the man himself. Thanks to this great prodigy, Modi has the most accurate example of self portrait of a true Indian in the whole world, to refer to.
 

	If only Narendra Modi could paint his true self portrait, it would have been marred with red pastels of Gujarat riots and orange shades of the true Hindu that he is.

	 
	 
	 

	2. Husain was self-exiled at the age of 90 after facing more than a decade of lawsuits and abuses for his paintings. It all started with his abstract depictions of Hindu Goddesses and nudity. Though critics state the main reason of his troubled years as a painter was he depicting Hindu mythology in its bare state being a Muslim. This even led to his being treated as a religious bigot.
 

	In his process of ‘saffronisation’ of the nation, Modi can easily put the Gujarat riots case to the background. After all he is true to his religion, unlike Husain, the Indian.

	 
	 
	 

	3. In his ambitious vision <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Modi-to-call-on-Samsung-LG-to-Make-in-India/articleshow/47262269.cms">‘Make in India’</a>, Modi seems to be confused whether to manufacture in India or to make in India. Yes, there is a difference between the two which is debated on. But much to the credits of MF Husain, Modi has the best solution to look at. The artist created a unique language of expression through his paintings which were a combination of Indian visual idioms and contemporary western forms. His paintings were so successful at the international markets that it led to a seal of approval over making art a stock option. 
 

	Modi needs to acknowledge that we need to embrace western talent while working on Indian potential. Calling to foreign investors and manufacturers to manufacture in India or buying Rafale jets from France should be coupled with steps to make the most of the hidden potential in the hearts of Indian land.

	 
	 
	 

	4. <keyword id="127432" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maqbool-Fida-Husain">Maqbool Fida Husain</keyword> was named the ‘Picasso of India’ not for nothing. His unique abstract paintings based on Indian mythology and Goddesses celebrating womanhood made his style stand out among the masses. His paintings were not a disgrace to Indian culture nor did it represent fanaticism, he showed it as it was. It exposed the dilemmas of the nation through pictorial eclecticism. One might remember his famous impression of <keyword id="6354478" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indira-Gandhi">Indira Gandhi</keyword> as Goddess Durga riding a lion during emergency. 

	If only Modi had this courage, instead of calling to people to post pictures of incredible India he would have asked them to post images of the things that is tearing apart its incredibility.
 

	But since Husain was exiled for this very reason, Modi is grateful to have a reason to do elsewise.

	 
	 
	 

	5. Husain’s paintings were banned like the books of <keyword id="25391" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Rushdie">Salman Rushdie</keyword>. So also movies, wearing skirts to school and now meat! Narendra Modi’excuse-it all went against the integrity of the nation and its culture. Hence, after years of being represented to its true form, the nation is happy to pull itself out of the artist’s canvas safely.

It is a known fact that our country is governed by politicians who are comedians in disguise. From making every Indian laugh at their utterly false promises to disrupting the Parliament day after day and being involved in scams of massive proportions, our politicians are guilty of indulging in them all. 
 
While they might not excel at what they’ve been elected to do (no surprises there), we can’t help but admit that our politicians do have some hidden talents. Unfortunately, they are unable to hone these talents due to the immense burden of governing a country on their shoulders. (also alternatively known as the burden of enforcing a ban on everything we’ve ever loved and cared for)

During his tenure as PM, Modi has visited more countries than the number of successful sessions the Parliament has witnessed, and if that’s not a big achievement, I don’t know what is. In his is future travel blog titled ‘How to take selfies while traveling around the world in 80 days,’ Modi could write about his experiences in every country he’s visited till date, while the readers could rate the selfie accompanying the post. The Congress Vice President possesses a face which looks perennially confused and not being able to figure why things never work out in his favour adds to his woes.

There's also one round of whispers which claim that the day she decides to take up face modeling and spare the state of West Bengal, cartoonists all over the country will declare a holiday to celebrate getting a lifetime muse.

The HRD Minister has received a lot of flak for her allegedly forged educational qualifications. While we’ll keep mum on whether the allegations against her or true or not, we'll go ahead and say that if there comes a time when she’s bored of making Sanskrit compulsory in Kendriya Vidyalayas mid-session, she could always try her hand at becoming a Dean in a University. But, is she qualified enough for the role? Guess we'll never know.

The President of Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah is best known for his event management skills.
