India’s largest beverage giant <keyword id="6391475" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Coca-Cola">Coca-Cola</keyword> is going for a major shuffle in its top management for marketing, strategy, insights and operations. The shuffle has been pushed by a year of flat sales and fall in its profitability. With these changes, the company wants both Coca-Cola and its bottling arm <keyword id="1037184" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hindustan-Coca-Cola-Beverages">Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages</keyword> (<keyword id="417867" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="HCCB">HCCB</keyword>) to regain customer loyalty in the ongoing peak season for soft drinks. The Atlanta-based giant has to be cautious about changes in the Indian market given that the country is its sixth largest market in terms of volume. The changes began after Sumanta Dutta, VP (south west Asia) for five markets moved out after over two decades. Similarly, Coca-Cola marketing head <keyword id="647639" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Debabrata-Mukherjee">Debabrata Mukherjee</keyword> is also moving out of the key area of marketing. Mukherjee would now handle general management operations for South West Asia - a market that does not include India. <ul><li><keyword id="2181438" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aye-Finance">Aye Finance</keyword>, the lending startup for micro, small and medium enterprises, has roped in former <keyword id="1391131" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-FinCorp">Hero Fincorp</keyword> Chief Business Officer <keyword id="252940" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samir-Mehta">Samir Mehta</keyword> as its deputy CEO. </li><li>Mehta will focus on scaling up Aye’s business and will implement strategies to enhance the MSME lenders’ performance and capability.</li><li>Recently, in June, Aye Finance had raised ₹210 crore from CapitalG – Google’s parent company Alphabet’s growth fund. </li></ul>Aye Finance, the lending startup for micro, small and medium enterprises, has roped in former Hero Fincorp Chief Business Officer Samir Mehta as its deputy CEO. Mehta comes with 22-year experience in BFSI, and at Aye Finance, he will focus on scaling up Aye’s business and will implement strategies to enhance the MSME lenders’ performance and capability. “Aye provides much-needed financial services to India’s micro-scale informal businesses and the entrepreneurs who run them – a critical, but often overlooked and underserved population,” Mehta said about joining the startup. “He adds further strength to our team, as we successfully negotiate the times of this economic disruption. Samir’s expertise in P&amp;L management of large businesses and in scaling up lending to the SME segment will be very valuable as we emerge from this period,” said Sanjay Sharma, Managing Director of Aye Finance. Recently, in June, Aye Finance had raised ₹210 crore from CapitalG – Google’s parent company Alphabet’s growth fund. The Series E round also saw participation from GT Lightstone, Falcon Edge Capital, A91 Partners, and MAJ Invest. Aye Finance, founded in 2014, has disbursed loans worth ₹3000 crores to over 200,000 businesses in six years. In November last year, the startup had raised ₹125 crores from the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank – FMO. The company also recently ranked 14 in India’s best places to work by Great Place to Work Institute. Google-backed Aye Finance brings on board former Hero Fincorp Chief Business Officer

New Delhi, Jan 16 () Aye Finance on Thursday said one of its early investors, Accion has sold its stake in the Indian fintech company to A91 Partners.
 However, the company did not provide any financial details.
 Accion Venture Lab had exited its investment in Aye Finance in 2018, and the latest announcement marks Accion's final exit through its Accion Global Investment (which invests in financial instutions and financial service providers), a statement said.
 Founded in 2014, Aye Finance addresses the credit challenges of the unbanked micro-enterprises in the country.
 Accion first participated in Aye's seed equity round in early 2015 along with SAIF Partners and provided additional capital in two subsequent equity rounds as well.
 In the early years Accion also partnered with Aye on various advisory projects across risk and analytical verticals, the statement said.
 "Accion has been a supportive partner in our transition from a startup to a mid-size organisation. We are grateful for their initial capital and advisory support in the last 5 years," Sanjay Sharma, founder and managing director of Aye Finance, said.
 He added that the latest deal was led by Kaushik Anand of A91, who was earlier on the company's board as nominee director of CapitalG.
 "This investment from A91 is a clear reaffirmation of the confidence of our investors in our team and our business model," Sharma added. SR SHW

Aye Finance raises ₹125 crore from Dutch bank, aims to help women entrepreneurs

New Delhi, Dec 26 () Aye Finance, the CapitalG-backed fintech lender, on Thursday said it has raised Rs 107 crore as debt funding from Swiss-based BlueOrchard.
 "BlueOrchard has been supporting Aye in its mission to enable the financial inclusion of micro enterprises since May 2017 and has taken a total exposure of Rs 290 crore in the MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) lender," according to a statement.
 Aye will utilise the latest round of fund to extend affordable and customised credit solutions in the country, it added.
 Last month, Aye Finance had announced it raised Rs 125 crore from Dutch development bank FMO. In the current year, Aye has raised over Rs 1,140 crore in debt and equity from entities including CapitalG, Falcon Edge, HDFC, ICICI and DCB Bank, other than FMO and BlueOrchard.
 Since its inception in 2014, Aye Finance has provided Rs 2,700-crore credit to over 1.96 lakh grassroots businesses, the statement said.
 "This is the sixth round of funds we have received from BlueOrchard, and I believe this demonstrates their comfort with and commitment to our business," Aye Finance Managing Director and founder Sanjay Sharma said.
 Lending to micro enterprises has been a less-travelled path for banks and financial companies and, hence, it is satisfying to have established an innovative paradigm of lending approach, he added.
 Normunds Mizis, chief credit officer at BlueOrchard, said India is an important market for the company, and it has been actively investing here for almost 20 years.
 "We have been working with Aye Finance since 2017. This additional funding is testament to our conviction in the company's mission to bridge the gap between loans offered by MFIs (microfinance institutions) and those available from commercial banks, offering MSMEs across India access to attractive credit solutions," Mizis said. Aye Finance gets Rs 107 cr in debt funding from BlueOrchard

New Delhi, Nov 20 () Fintech startup Aye Finance on Wednesday said it has raised Rs 125 crore from Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO through issuance of non-convertible debentures.
 With this fundraising, Aye plans to expand its outreach in providing credit, specifically to women-owned microenterprises in India, the company said in a statement.
"While we have women as co-applicants for over 95 per cent of our loans, we believe we can do more in enabling the women micro enterprises of India bring about a more transformative impact on the economy," Aye Finance MD and founder Sanjay Sharma said.
Under the deal, FMO will work with Aye Finance to expand their services to women entrepreneurs in the country through a gender finance programme.
"We expanded our branch network this year to Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Maharashtra which have a prevalence of women entrepreneurship and with these funds from FMO we will be supporting the growth of women-led enterprises in these states as well as in other 14 states where we have our presence," Sharma said.
 The transaction was syndicated and executed by Chennai-based Northern Arc Capital which invested in Aye Finance in January this year.
 "The debentures issued by Aye are particularly interesting as the on-lending will be to micro entrepreneurs, of which half will be dedicated to women entrepreneurs in the financial inclusion area of underbanked end clients," Linda Broekhuizen, Chief Investment Officer, FMO said.
 CapitalG, growth equity investment fund of Google's parent company Alphabet Inc, has also invested Rs 115 crore in Aye Finance in 2018-19.
With the recent fundraising, Aye Finance's total funding has crossed Rs 2,200 crore comprising debt fund of over Rs 1,700 crore and equity investment of Rs 500 crore.
Aye Finance said it has "disbursed over Rs 2,500 crore to over 1,80,000 customers and has a loan book of Rs 1,430 crore" till date. PRS ANU

<ul><li>India’s <keyword id="6374783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler">two-wheeler</keyword> market is characterised by intense competition and sluggish sales. </li><li>However, <keyword id="62356" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS">TVS</keyword> Motor Co has recorded above-average growth. </li><li>This is largely due to the success of its newer models. </li></ul>India’s two-wheeler market isn’t what one would refer to as enticing for new entrants. Sales have been <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/companies/liquidity-crunch-higher-insurance-costs-impact-two-wheeler-sales-in-dec/article25891881.ece">subdued</a> in recent months - an indication of rural distress since the bulk of <keyword id="6359451" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="motorcycle">motorcycle</keyword> and <keyword id="6359452" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Scooter">scooter</keyword> sales in the country come from outside urban areas. The market is also extremely heated -- incumbents are trying to outperform each other in terms of prices and product launches. But one company, TVS Motor Co, has overcome these hurdles with relative ease, posting a revenue growth of 26% in the quarter ended December 2018. That is well above the industry average of 8%, according to the company’s FY19 estimates shared over a recent conference call. The uptick is largely attributable to the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer’s improved product mix and a surge in export volumes, due in part to the rupee’s weakness and consolidation in markets like The Philippines, which it also serves. The company has also been rolling out a number of new models -- the Radeon motorcycle, the Jupiter Grand and Ntorq scooters as well as the latest version of the Apache motorcycle, which was a play at the growing premium segment. The fuel-efficient Radeon, in particular, was launched to meet the needs of commuters in rural India. Sales of the 110cc motorcycle, which currently clocks in 11,000 units a month, are expected to double, the company said on the analyst call. Priced at around ₹50,000, it is also a value play for cost-conscious commuters between the age of 25 and 35. When compared to other popular mid-sized commuter bikes like the <keyword id="7029" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero">Hero</keyword> Splendor Plus and <keyword id="6358511" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bajaj">Bajaj</keyword> Platina, which are similarly priced, the Radeon stands out because it’s the latest entrant to the segment, it’s comfortable and boasts a better design, according to Sanjay Sharma, who runs KK Automobiles, a dealership in the Najafgarh on the outskirts of New Delhi. While its other models fare well for different reasons: At ₹86,000, the updated Apache was priced below its immediate competitors in the premium racing category - The Yamaha FZ and <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword> CB Hornet, both of which are a little under ₹1 lakh. Meanwhile, its smart scooter brand, the Ntorq, which was launched last February and is priced at a little over ₹60,000, carries a premium as it also India’s first smart scooter, meaning it allows pairing with smartphones. TVS has reportedly <a href="https://www.carblogindia.com/tvs-ntorq-sales/">sold over 20,000 </a>units of the scooter per month in the second half of the year, according to Car Blog India. Clearly pricing has been a strong selling point for TVS in recent months. However, going forward, it may be difficult to keep these products as affordable as they are. The company has already raised prices by an average of 0.9% between April and December 2018. TVS may have to contend higher raw material prices and marketing costs to stay ahead of rising competition, which could potentially trigger a price hike or crimp margins. A government regulation mandating the installation of an anti-lock braking system that comes into force in April could escalate costs further.
