<ul><li>Mohammed Salim Khan, Travel Blogger, writes how the pandemic-induced lockdown has impacted travel industry and with it, travel bloggers. </li><li>He writes, "When all this ends and we’re free to travel again, I hope that I can continue to connect with my audience as I have been doing these past few months." </li></ul> Lockdown has been difficult for everyone, but even tougher for the itinerant and wanderers. The past few days have been rather frightening and the places that were once major tourist hotspots are now deserted. The spread of the coronavirus has unexpectedly brought the usual life and travel to a standstill. As a travel vlogger, I was scheduled to be on one of my international trips during this period and recording interesting content for my YouTube channel. But the content I had planned has now been scrapped – or at least put on hold indefinitely and I am grounded in my apartment in Mumbai waiting for the pandemic to end. The fear of coronavirus had not sneaked in when I planned my itinerary for 2020 and also posted my resolution of uploading 200 vlogs and going for 12 International trips in 365 days. It wasn’t until March when the world was reporting a huge number of cases and India declared a nationwide lockdown. It was confirmed that the pandemic could severely disrupt not just my travel plans, but also my income. A major source of income for vloggers is YouTube ads, brands and affiliate marketing. But with the pandemic in motion, the businesses are on a stand-still and there’s not much earning. The travel and tourism industry across the globe is affected and has left millions without a job. You always presume some degree of risk when you earn from social media and blogging. It can be constant, but never definite. But right now we’re in an unpredictable situation. Being a travel vlogger, I am hardly ever at home, so I was happy to spend this time with my family and also myself. I decided to focus on my health and work schedule. When the lockdown was announced, I took a break for a week to plan my next steps and come up with ideas on how not to lose my connection with my subscribers. My only motto is that the show must go on and everything else will fall in place. I took this quarantine as a challenge. After taking a break for a week or so, I decided to challenge myself to upload 21 vlogs in 21 days as a motivating factor. It would not only bring my subscribers closer to me but also create a sense of suspense because they wouldn’t know what to expect next. The challenge was more for me than for my audience. I took it up by adding a fun element of playing indoor games and challenged my viewers to play them too. I started recording daily chores like cleaning, buying groceries, and talking to friends. But there was a risk that the audience won’t like such kind of videos. However, to my surprise not only did they love the videos but I had never gained so many subscribers in 21 days. We’re all sitting at home. So, it’s pretty obvious people that we are spending double the time on our phones, looking for the next entertainment. As vloggers, our biggest dilemma is which part of our lives we should disclose next. Roy T. Bennett has rightly said, “You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.” This is absolutely true. In the four years of my YouTube journey, never have I ever seen such a growth in my subscribers and views on my travel videos which is the crux of my channel. So go through it to grow through it. When all this ends and we’re free to travel again, I hope that I can continue to connect with my audience as I have been doing these past few months. The actor, of late, is known for his charity donations and has been making headlines on the same. Salman’s father, <keyword id="31016" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salim-Khan">Salim Khan</keyword> is also known as a person who hardly spends on himself. And it’s learnt that son Salman got this habit from his father. 
 
Since the beginning of his career, Salim Khan had fixed 10% of Salman’s income to be spent for personal need. A part of the balance 90% was used for charity. Now that Salman has his own NGO, Being Human, the rest of his income is spent on the same. 
 His sister <keyword id="2053" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alvira">Alvira</keyword> has often said that Salman had never signed a cheque till 48 years of his age. Even though he started enjoying signing cheques, a few months later Salman wanted an attorney to sign cheques on behalf as he finds it boring to deal on money matters. 
Salman still doesn’t know how much money he actually has in his account. He maintains a low profile of himself and spends meagrely on his personal need. 
 
Now you must be wondering, how come an actor of that stature is able to use just 10% of his income on him and spend rest on charity? Salman Khan earns Rs 60 crore annually. So spending Rs 6 crore on personal requirement every year isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

The actor took to social networking site Twitter to show his ‘concern’ for Yakoob Memon, saying that hanging him was wrong and he is being punished for his brother Tiger’s misdeeds. 
 
The series of tweets has sparked a national controversy, not only because of Memon’s involvement in the 1993 serial Bombay blasts, but also because of Salman’s own <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/ITS-BAIL-FOR-SALMAN-KHAN-But-first-he-must-surrender-before-the-Sessions-Court/articleshow/47200010.cms">criminal record</a>, when in 2002, he drunk-drove his car over some people sleeping on the pavement of a Mumbai road, killing 1 and injuring 4 others. The actor also <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/SalmanVerdict-Salman-Khangets-48-hours-interim-bail-till-May-8/articleshow/47176350.cms">fled the scene</a> and years later, claimed that it was his driver who was sitting behind the wheels on that fateful night. 
 <keyword id="31016" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salim-Khan">Salim Khan</keyword>, celebrated scriptwriter and Salman’s father has said that Salman is ignorant of the matter and whatever he has written is ridiculous and meaningless. He also said that the actor’s stand should not be taken too seriously. 
 
However, this is not the first time that Salman has stepped on the ‘unfavourable’ side of his fans and the politicians as well. It was after the unfortunate 26/11 attacks that the actor had sparked controversies by saying, "Too much hype has been created around the 26/11 attacks because elite people were targeted. Attacks have happened in trains and small towns too, but no one talked about it so much. Everybody took this up because the Taj and Oberoi hotels were involved." 
 
The actor later apologised for the same and cleared his stand, saying that he meant to point out why such intense reactions weren’t conjured during other times that Mumbai faced serial blasts, including the 7/11 serial blasts in the local trains.

India's second T20I against West Indies to start at 10pm IST due to delay in significant luggage arrival

Thane, Jul 15 () A 28-year-old costume designer allegedly committed suicide at his home in Mira Road in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Wednesday. Shaikh Salim Khan was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his ninth-floor apartment in a high-rise on the Monday night, assistant police inspector Pankaj Ghatkar of Kashimira police station said. A suicide note was recovered from the scene, in which the deceased had stated that he was fed up with life and no one should be held responsible for his death, the official said. Khan worked as a costume designer at various film studios in Mumbai and his mother lived in a different apartment in the same high-rise, he said. Srinagar, May 17 () A 29-year-old woman, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died here on Sunday, raising the death toll to 13 in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.The woman from Habba Kadal area of Srinagar died in the afternoon at CD Hospital here, nodal officer COVID-19, GMC Srinagar, Dr Salim Khan said.He said the woman was previously operated in SMHS Hospital here by ENT surgeons for Ludwig's angina (submandibular abscess) and mediastinitis and had septic shock."She was shifted to Surgical ICU there and tested positive for COVID-19. She was taken to CD Hospital two days back where she died today," Khan said.With her death, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the Union Territory has risen to 13. SSB CK

Coronavirus-infected woman dies in Srinagar, J-K toll reaches 13

A <keyword id="9204925" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sero-survey">sero survey</keyword> conducted in <keyword id="6354495" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="kashmir">Kashmir</keyword> has found that two out of every five people in the valley have developed <keyword id="102007" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antibodies">antibodies</keyword> against the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword>. The survey carried out in October found the highest prevalence of antibodies in Pulwama at 43.1 per cent and the lowest in Kulgam at 28.5 per cent. "We conducted a sero survey in all 10 districts of Kashmir which has revealed that nearly 39 per cent of the 6,200 persons tested negative but had developed antibodies," said Dr Muhammad Salim Khan, head of community medicine at <keyword id="65635" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Government-Medical-College">Government Medical College</keyword> here. He said the survey was carried out in October on the heels of an exercise in Srinagar which had thrown up almost identical results. While nearly 2,400 people were randomly tested in Srinagar, 400 people each were tested in the rest of the nine districts as part of the survey, he added. Giving the district-wise break up of the results, Khan said Pulwama recorded the highest prevalence of antibodies in 43.1 per cent of the survey population, followed by 43 per cent in Budgam, 42.3 per cent in Kupwara, 40.7 per cent in Srinagar, 39.8 per cent in Bandipora and 39.0 per cent in Ganderbal. "Anantnag (35.2 per cent), Baramulla (34.6 per cent), Shopian (31.9 per cent) and Kulgam (28.5 per cent) recorded lower than average prevalence of antibodies among the surveyed population," he said. The first step survey was conducted in Srinagar in June. It showed the presence of antibodies in 3.8 per cent of the population. "The trend has been encouraging but it does not mean that (SARS-2) COVID will be defeated at a certain level of the population developing the antibodies. The scientific community is also wary of using the term herd immunity in the absence of a vaccine," Khan cautioned. The Kashmir valley has recorded 62,520 COVID-19 cases so far including 1,063 deaths. While 57,532 people have recovered, there are 3,925 active cases. Srinagar is the worst affected district in <keyword id="17605" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jammu-and-kashmir">Jammu and Kashmir</keyword> with nearly 20,000 people infected and 399 deaths due to the pandemic. Sero survey reveals that 39% of Kashmir's population has Covid antibodies

The dust around <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>'s callous 'raped woman remark' is failing to settle down, partly because he hasn’t yet come out with an apology, and partly because other actors are coming out with their opinions about the same. 
 <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>, Salman’s good friend and co-star from the 1994 sleeper hit Andaaz Apna Apna, , is the latest to join the bandwagon, by speaking out about the issue. 
 
At a recent event, Aamir was asked about his views on Salman's comments, to which he said, "What Salman said was rather unfortunate and insensitive." 
 
It was only last week that Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his views on the ‘rape’ remarks, to which he had said, "In the last few years, I have come to realize that I have made so many inappropriate comments myself. I don't think I am someone to sit in judgment for somebody else's comment." 
 
Salman’s comments have faced flak from several Bollywood celebrities, including Kangana Ranaut, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Sona Mohapatra, while some other celebrities, like his father, screenwriter Salim Khan and brother, actor Arbaaz Khan, actors Sonu Sood and fillmaker Subhash Ghai have also defended his remarks.

Aamir Khan labels Salman's rape remark as ‘unfortunate & insensitive’

Even Salim Khan wanted to be an actor but resorted to writing after he failed to make it big in acting. 
 
Blessed with boyish looks that were a fad in the early 90’s, Salman Khan entered the industry as a humble beginner, in the 1988 movie Biwi Ho To Aisi. However, it was only in his next movie, Maine Pyaar Kiya that he swept girls (and women) off their feet and became the quintessential good boy of Bollywood. 
 
Continuing his acting spree all through the 1990s with hits like Saajan, Andaz Apna Apna, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Karan Arjun, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, he ruled the hearts and the box office for years at a stretch. This was the time that Salman came to be known as one of the most stylish and good looking actors of Indian cinema. His good physique and a bare-bodied scene in every movie became his identity, along with the lover boy image that he always carried. 
 
Come the 2000s and Salman continued with the same, lover boy image, but with some wrong choices like Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, Yeh Hai Jalwa, and Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, he suffered some setbacks. In his personal life as well, he went through a much-publicized breakup and some pending court cases, which further slowed down Salman’s pace. 
 
There came a time when Salman’s career took a backseat and he struggled for a hit which could bring him back to the mainstream. Any which way, Bollywood in itself was not going through a good period at that time, but things changed when Salman, in his long locks and leather jackets, turned into the bad boy Radhe in the 2003 movie Tere Naam. The movie was a massive hit and brought Salman back in the limelight, but only for a small period of time.

The Love Season, Jaan-E-Mann, Hello and Heroes, but despite these continued flops, Salman remained one of the most sought after stars in Bollywood, because of the unending loyalty his fans had for him. He always had fans, but for his bankability, producers needed hit films, and with a line of films like Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, and Kick, Salman Khan has broken the record of the maximum super hits, and has became the most bankable star of Bollywood. 
 
Bajrangi Bhaijaan releases tomorrow, but has already made a huge buzz in the industry. It is surely going to be a massive opener, given the strategic timing of its release, just after the holy month of Ramadan, the golden time that Salman is enjoying, and as we said above, the unending loyalty his fans have for him.

Bajrani Bhaijaan releases tomorrow: How Salman Khan has reinvented himself over the decades

As the Bombay HC gave out its verdict in 2002 hit-and-run case against <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>, the <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> actor broke down inside court, oblivious to the fact that hundreds of his fans swarmed his residence Galaxy apartments cheering over his acquittal.

	The actor himself drove about an hour to court from Karjat Studio where he was filming his next movie Sultan. Salman's father Salim Khan was photographed leaving Galaxy Apartments earlier. Salman's sister Alvira and faithful bodyguard Shera were also in court.When the High Court pronounced its verdict at about 1.40pm, just his pregnant sister Arpita was present in the house. 
 

	By afternoon, a small crowd of fans (who converged here from far distant places) had joined the banks of media cameras and crews amid high police presence. 
	 
	Even as of now, the crowd milling about on the road outside Galaxy Apartments is still relatively small but is steadily swelling. Salman, who will be 50 later this month, will likely come home to a rapturous welcome today. The actor's neighbours can also expect a traffic jam on the street.
 In May, when the Sessions Court convicted Salman, Galaxy Apartments was crowded with celebrities visiting the actor. The VIP visitors included Shah Rukh Khan, <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>, Hrithik Rosan, Preity Zinta and Sonakshi Sinha. On Thursday morning, Mumbai politician Baba Siddique was the sole arrival.
