 Nehwal, 29, has over 24 international titles to her name — including Olympics and Commonwealth games. Nehwal is one of India's most successful badminton players. The report comes days before the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Election, which will commence on February 8. She is now one of the many sports stars that BJP has managed to attract like Gautum Gambhir and Babita Phogat Former cricket player Gambhir joined the party in 2019. Apart from being a star campaigner, he is the MP of East Delhi constituency. Female wrestler Babita Phogat also joined the BJP right before the last general election. She contested elections from Dadri constituency and lost. On January 10, BJP announced its 15-member election committee constituting the president Manoj Tiwari and all the MPs in the state including Vijay Goel and Satish Upadhyay. This is the first time that the national capital is going to polls after the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP bagged all the seats in Delhi. Delhi assembly polls will commence on February 8, 2020. The three main parties contesting elections constitute the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC). Both BJP and AAP has announced their candidates. <keyword id="6361689" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Naxalites">Naxalites</keyword> have criticized National Award winning actor <keyword id="2823" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</keyword> and Olympics bronze medallist Badminton Player <keyword id="30618" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saina-Nehwal">Saina Nehwal</keyword> for giving financial assistance to families of slain Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans killed by Naxals in Sukma district of <keyword id="43945" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword> in March this year. The Naxalites expressed their anger via pamphlets spread in south Bastar, Chattisgarh, in which they have appealed to celebrities and well-known personalities to think about by the oppressed tribals and support them by raising voice against their human rights violation at the hands of the armed forces. The pamphlet also suggested that the actor and the shuttler should not have stood by the side of jawans that were deployed to guard corporate houses and political patrons. Adding that the CRPF jawans did not die for the country, it said that they were rather punished by Peoples' Liberation Guerrilla Army for exploiting the local tribal population. After the Sukma attacks, Kumar had given Rs 9 lakh each to the dependents of the 12 martyrs, while Saina too donated Rs 50,000 each to affected families. Kumar has also launched the Indian government portal ‘Bharatkeveer.com’ for citizens to directly donate to the families of Army or paramilitary force martyrs.

In an official blog titled '<a href="https://www.narendramodi.in/four-requests-for-a-democracy-543992" data-type="tilCustomLink">Four Requests For Democracy</a>' on the Prime Minister's website, Modi has asked Indian citizens to register themselves as voters if they haven't done so already and 'create an environment where getting one’s voter card and casting a vote, especially for the first time, become occasions for celebration'. The year 2015 is on a fag end and it is time to look back and see who made news and why. From politics to Bollywood to even holy cow, Indian celebrities were centre of attraction for some or the reason in 2015. 
 
Yahoo released its 2015 Year in Review and came out with interesting top trends of 2015. 
 
As per Yahoo, Sunny Leone remained the most searched female celebrity for fourth year in a row and Salman Khan was the most searched male celebrity of 2015. 
 
Interestingly, Sania Mirza was among the most searched sportspersons, breaking the cricket-dominated list. Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni took the top spot and Saina Nehwal was at 10th. 
 
Even our holy cow emerged as personality of the year, due to a string of controversies including the beef ban and Dadri lynching incident.
