Gen. Antonio Conte's newly formed strike duo of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku scored two-a-piece to cancel out goals from Dominico Berardi, Filip Duricic, and Jeremie Boga.&#xa0;</p><p>Cristiano Ronaldo was on the scoresheet for Juventus as the league leaders beat Bologna 2-1 at home, whilst AC Milan remains in the bottom half of the table following a 2-2 draw with Lecce.&#xa0;</p><h2>Premier League</h2><p>Liverpool kept up its unbeaten record in the league this season as it saw out a drab 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Marcus Rashford had given United the lead early on, before Liverpool was denied a Sadio Mane equalizer thanks to a VAR (Video Assistant Referee) call for handball. Thankfully for Jurgen Klopp's side, substitute Adam Lallana saved the day with just five minutes to go.</p><p>Elsewhere, Chelsea continued its impressive start to the season with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Newcastle United - Frank Lampard's side managed 15 shots on goal before it finally found the net through Marcos Alonso.</p><p>Manchester City kept up the pressure on Liverpool with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, while Tottenham Hotspur's dreadful form continued with a 1-1 draw with Watford.</p><p>It could have been worse for Spurs had it not been for a controversial goal from Dele Alli, who appeared to handle the ball before slotting it home.</p><h2>La Liga</h2><p>FC Barcelona was the weekend's big winner in Spain as it beat Eibar 3-0 to jump into first place in the league. Attacking trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Antoine Griezmann were all on the score sheet, which will have been a huge relief for fans amid rumours of unrest in the dressing room.&#xa0;</p><p>Real Madrid had been unbeaten prior to the weekend, but came crumbling down at the hands of RCD Mallorca on Saturday. Lago Junior scored the only goal as the newly promoted side beat Eden Hazard-less Madrid 1-0.</p><p>Atletico Madrid saw out a tense 1-1 draw with Valencia, Sevilla beat Levante 1-0, and high flying Granada maintained its surprise third place position with a 1-0 win over Osasuna on Friday night.&#xa0;</p><h2>Ligue 1</h2><p>Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint Germain is running away with the Ligue 1 title again for the seventh time in eight seasons. Thomas Tuchel's side scored four for the third time already this season, beating OGC Nice 4-1 away from home.</p><p>The pick of the goals came in the form of Angel Di Maria's deft lob - his second of two on the day and 10th this season.</p><p>After a poor start to the season, AS Monaco won its third game in the last four to move further away from the relegation spots. Leonardo Jardim's side beat Rennes 3-2 in an enticing affair at the Stade Louis II. "The bus incident had no effect on us," club captain Vincent Kompany is <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/apr/04/manchester-city-team-bus-anfield-champions-league" target="_blank" rel="noopener">quoted by The Guardian to have said</a>.</p><p>Kompany's teammate Kevin de Bruyne even went as far as to say he is "okay" with supporters behaving that way. "I've had it a couple of times for my team and it's a nice feeling," he said.</p><p>Regardless, the incident is being investigated by Merseyside Police. Superintendent Paul White told <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43648184" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBC Sport</a> that the force "will conduct enquiries to identify who was responsible and bring them to justice."</p><p>UEFA, the body that runs the Champions League, has opened its own disciplinary proceedings as well.</p><p>Though Liverpool won the first leg, the club still has to contest the second leg at Manchester City on April 10, before the overall aggregate winner can proceed to the Champions League semifinal.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><div><blockquote class="twitter-video" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Liverpool apologised to Man City before the match for the damage done to their team bus. The organization revealed the 30 players in contention for the 2018 Ballon d'Or throughout the day Monday, and many of the biggest names in soccer have made the list.</br></p><p>Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the trophy home in each of the last two years, but Portugal's early departure from the World Cup combined with his rocky start with new club Juventus and the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cristiano-ronaldo-rape-allegations-kathryn-mayorga-2018-10">recent rape allegations levied against him</a> could doom his chances at a three-peat.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Lionel Messi - who also has five Ballons d'Or - could reclaim the honor for the first time since 2015, but his inability to lead Argentina to success at the World Cup has undoubtedly dampened his chances.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Likewise, Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar is an unlikely pick to break through to win his first Ballon d'Or this year due to his international performances. Brazil failed to live up to expectations for the 2018 World Cup, falling to Belgium in a major quarterfinal upset.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>The favorite to win the 2018 Ballon d'Or, however, is midfielder Luka Modric. The Real Madrid veteran captained Croatia to its first ever World Cup final, after which he earned&#xa0;the Golden Ball as the best player in the tournament. Modric has already earned FIFA World Player of the Year honors and is widely expected to add the Ballon d'Or to his collection of awards after posting an absolutely stellar year. Messi and Ronaldo have had a monopoly on the Ballon d'Or for the past decade, but Modric may be the man to end their collective reign.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>France Football also released the shortlist of players nominated to receive the first-ever women's Ballon d'Or, which includes five-time&#xa0;<span>FIFA World Player of the Year winner Marta, Australian blackflipper and&#xa0;all-time NWSL leading scorer Sam Kerr, and U.S. Women's National Team captain Megan Rapinoe</span>.
