Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 20 (ANI): It's a special night for superstar <keyword id="19895142" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shah-rukh-khan" source="keywords">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> as a while ago he won an award in the 'Best Actor' category at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards (DPIFF) 2024. <keyword id="19901039" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="srk" source="keywords">SRK</keyword> was honoured for his performance in Atlee's directorial 'Jawan'. In an acceptance speech, he quipped, "Shukriya sari jury member ka jinhone mujhko best actor ke liye layak samjha aur bhaut saal ho gaye mujhe best actor ka award nahin mila toh aisa lagne laga tha ki ab milega hi nahin. Mujhe bhaut khushi hai. Mujhe awards bhaut ache lagte hai ...main thoda laalchi hu, greedy hu. (I thank jury who considered me worthy of the Best Actor award. I have not received the Best Actor Award in a long time. It seemed as if I would not get it again...So I am extremely happy. I like awards. I am a bit greedy) SRK also expressed gratitude to the entire team of 'Jawan' and the audience. "I am genuinely thrilled and touched that people have recognized the work that I have put in. Work of an artist is not important ...all the people around him or her make everything come together...so a lot of people's hard work is involved in making Jawan and helping me win this award. I promise I will keep working hard and entertain India and people who are living abroad..whether it takes me to dance, to fall, to fly, to romance, to be evil, to be a bad guy, to be a good guy...Inshallah, I will keep working hard," SRK said with a big smile on his face. SRK returned to the silver screen with <keyword id="19910290" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="siddharth-anand" source="keywords">Siddharth Anand</keyword>'s '<keyword id="19897075" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pathaan" source="keywords">Pathaan</keyword>' in January 2023. In the film, SRK donned an action avatar and left everyone in awe. The film broke several records at the box office and managed to grab a name in the list of one of the highest-grossing films in the Indian film industry. The film marked SRK's first hit after his sabbatical of four years post delivering a series of duds like 'Zero' and 'Jab Harry Met Sejal'. After 'Pathaan', King Khan returned to theatres in September with 'Jawan'. The film once again saw SRK in an action avatar. The film collected over Rs 1000 cr. at the worldwide box office. Khan’s latest release <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Dilwales-trailer-is-a-riot/articleshow/49735945.cms">Dilwale</a>, even after earning a lot of money in the opening weekend, has not earned much praises from fans and critics. However, the actor seems to be as unperturbed as he could be. Yesterday, Shah Rukh Khan held a Twitter QnA session, called <keyword id="3179037" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="asksrk">AskSRK</keyword>, that trended for a good few hours, given the number of followers he has on social media platform. It was during this session of AskSRK that some followers decided to test Khan’s patience. 
 
One follower asked Khan when he would learn acting, hinting at his performances in the last few releases viz. Happy New Year and Chennai Express, as well as <keyword id="1665132" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dilwale">Dilwale</keyword>.

Can never learn acting, says Shah Rukh Khan

On his second date with India, the charmer in <keyword id="15548" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-President">US President</keyword> Obama was at his wittiest best – and as always! He clearly knew he was going to win a lot more audience when he held the Indian pulse after quoting a line from Bollywood. Suddenly, the US President had a metamorphosis when he turned into a ‘phoren president’ to someone who had a deeper understanding of India. 
 
Though Obama is famous for his inspirational speech and the most stunning manner in which he delivers his words, this was much beyond anybody’s imagination. The second term President of America, held the Indians by their pulse. 
 
He knows India and Bollywood are inseparable as identities. Mention one, and chances are you will be mentioning the other too without actually spelling it out. 
 
At his last official speech which was delivered at Siri Fort in New Delhi, Obama was at his charming best. He sent home a few crucial messages, while touching upon some serious aspects of religious intolerance that’s gradually beginning to gain ground in the country. 
 
His speech in front of the most rapturous audience began with a ‘Namaste’ and continued into a ‘bahut bahut dhanyavaad’. Recalling his previous visit, he referred to his visit to a few NGOs where he and his wife Michelle Obama had broken into a jig or two. This time however, he said: “we couldn’t schedule any dancing..” 
 
Then came the super hit line from DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), in his deeply conditioned American baritone voice (minus any drama, unlike the Bollywood film in which this line featured) – “you know how it is…Bade Bade deshon mein…” 
 
And the audience broke into a thunderous applause. Clearly, he had held India by its very pulse. 
 
Now, did he feel the need to match the rapturous appearance Prime Minister Modi made at Madison Square Garden in NY, during his visit last year to receive the welcome of a rockstar? Modi had arrived when he signed off his deeply connecting speech with the famous lines from Star Wars. He had said: ‘May the force be with you’ to a gathering of highly emotional audience at Central Park in New York. 
 
Coming back to Obama’s visit, he spoke of the racial discrimination he faced on the land of his home country, the questions that were raised about his faith and religion. Basically, his humble beginnings and how everyone’s humble beginnings mattered. Only, what made the difference was whether one was strong enough to ensure they visualized their dreams and turned them into a reality. 
 
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s humble beginnings to his journey that has taken him to the seat of PM, Obama said: “Even if we live in a world of terrible inequalities, there’s hope that a tea seller can become PM.” 
 
His speech was particularly inspiring for the youth whom he referred to, in his speech time and again, urging them to speak up, fight for their rights and ensure the country was a safe place for everyone – including women. 
 
“Young women today are part of new generation making your voice heard, standing up, determined to play your part in India’s progress. Young Indians are not only going to shape India, but the world,” he said. 
 
Stressing on the significance of safety of women across the world, Obama said “Nations are more successful when their women are successful,” he said, rather jocularly adding, “I am surrounded with strong women such as my wife Michelle and my daughters Malia and Sasha.” 
 
On a more serious note, Obama sent a timely warning for India against giving into religion-fuelled intolerance. “No society is immune by the dark impulses of the man. More often, religion is used to tap into it,” he observed. 
 
Sharing his dream of strengthening Indo-US ties, building a diplomatic relationship between nations that would be without any nuclear weapons, a distinct bond between countries that’s built on trade and trust and not doubts and hatred, Obama said countries like India need to embrace cleaner fuels to tackle climate change. 
 
There’s been a lot of bonhomie on Delhi streets since the last two days, despite the traffic snarls and an almost shut down of the capital gifting the people a long weekend this winter. US President Obama who visited India as the guest on Republic day with his wife Michelle Obama in tow has clearly created waves of excitement among Indians and NRIs living in America with his charming ways of conveying how well he understands India. 
 
The most pulsating moment to come closer to this time of celebration came around his last address in India, before he departed on the return journey.

Whether you believe it or not, <keyword id="7645" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanjay-Dutt">Sanjay Dutt</keyword> was supposed to play the character of cancer patient, which was later enacted by <keyword id="18965" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jimmy-Sheirgill">Jimmy Sheirgill</keyword> in the movie. 
 Shah Rukh Khan has all the reasons to thank <keyword id="2823" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</keyword>, Arbaaz Khan, Salman Khan and even <keyword id="6354700" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anil-Kapoor">Anil Kapoor</keyword>. Wondering why? Well, Baazigar, the film that established him as a star was first offered to all of them. When no one agreed to play the negative character, the role went to King Khan. 
 
Talking about Shah Rukh Khan, even Chak De! came to him when Salman Khan said no to it.Knowing this, we wonder how Salman would have delivered the famous “sattar minute” speech?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wasn’t the original choice for playing Nandini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. It would be hard for you to believe, but it was <keyword id="2165" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kareena-Kapoor">Kareena Kapoor</keyword> who was initially considered to play Nandini.
