Filmmaker <keyword id="19943427" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aanand-L-Rai" source="keywords">Aanand L Rai</keyword> has revealed that he had approached superstar <keyword id="19901647" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan" source="keywords">Salman Khan</keyword> for "<keyword id="20376276" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zero" source="keywords">Zero</keyword>" when the film was in the scripting stage but they both eventually got busy with other projects and the conversation didn't go further. Rai, known for films such as "<keyword id="20216018" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raanjhanaa" source="keywords">Raanjhanaa</keyword>" and "<keyword id="20905019" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tanu-Weds-Manu" source="keywords">Tanu Weds Manu</keyword>", started working on "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" while Salman got busy with another film. Salman's contemporary and superstar <keyword id="19895142" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan" source="keywords">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> eventually starred in "Zero", which followed the story of a vertically challenged man. "I had met him (Salman), I was working on it (script). At that time I had not finished writing the story. This happened after 'Raanjhanaa'. I had met him just like that and I told him, 'Aisi ek duniya hai (describing the world of 'Zero') ek duniya describe ki thi', and he liked it. "Then I started working on 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'. The story (of 'Zero') also changed but I couldn't go to him again. The day I have an opportunity, I'll go to him. I really want to work with Salman," the filmmaker told PTI in an interview on the green carpet of the <keyword id="22837524" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIFA-Awards-2024" source="keywords">IIFA Awards 2024</keyword> here. The director described Salman as a "great actor and sensitive person". "A sensitive person can switch easily between genres. So, it's up to us (filmmakers) now what kind of story I offer him," he said. Salman, however, featured in "Zero" in a cameo in the song "<keyword id="23371737" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Issaqbaazi" source="keywords">Issaqbaazi</keyword>" in which he shook a leg with Shah Rukh, his co-star in films such as "Karan Arjun" and "Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam". The film also featured <keyword id="19909119" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anushka-Sharma" source="keywords">Anushka Sharma</keyword> and <keyword id="19913262" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Katrina-Kaif" source="keywords">Katrina Kaif</keyword>.

Shah Rukh Khan-starred 'Zero' was initially offered to Salman Khan, reveals Aanand L Rai

<keyword id="582713" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aanand-L-Rai">Aanand L Rai</keyword>, who has given several <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> hits like Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Tanu-Weds-Manu-Season-2-Will-It-Be-Able-To-Recreate-The-Magic/articleshow/45135824.cms">Tanu Weds Manu Returns</a>, has always believed in the power of story and not stars. This is why he has never banked on casting just superstars, but only good talent in his films, making several names like Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub famous with their roles and acting skills. 
 
However, this doesn’t mean that the man would never take a huge superstar in any of his movie, which is why he has now announced casting the king of Bollywood, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Shah-Rukhs-just-got-sued/articleshow/51224833.cms">Shah Rukh Khan</a>, in his next movie. 
 
Not only this, Rai has also confirmed that Khan would be playing a dwarf in the movie, something which no mainstream actor has done in Bollywood in a long time. What comes to mind when we think of Bollywood actor playing a dwarf is when Kamal Haasan played one in the 1989 movie Appu Raja, for which he received a lot of critical acclaim. 
 
"He is a gutsy actor. He always takes challenges. It is a delight to have him in the film. We both have liking for each other. We want to work together and we are on that process. Shah Rukh is a very intelligent man. He makes you feel so important and responsible so it is fun to work with him. He was very happy to hear the story," Rai told PTI. 
 
Rai also said that the movie would be high on romance and songs, since it would be foolish on his part to have the king of romance in his movie and not make him romance his leading lady, the actress for which is yet to be finalised. As for Shah Rukh, looks like a string of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/ItsDilwale-vs-Bajirao-Mastani-as-Shah-Rukh-Khan-starrer-bags-Rs-100-Crores-worldwide/articleshow/50267619.cms">commercially successful</a> but critically panned movies, he is really <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Fan-will-be-Shahrukhs-redemption-Watch-thetrailer-to-know-why/articleshow/51205859.cms">trying hard for redemption</a>.

Shah Rukh Khan roped in to play a dwarf in Aanand L Rai’s next

A picture tweeted from the official account of Eros International gives us a glimpse into <keyword id="854855" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tanu-Weds-Manu-Season-2">Tanu Weds Manu Season 2</keyword>, which as the name suggests is the sequel of 2011 romcom film <keyword id="71996" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tanu-Weds-Manu">Tanu Weds Manu</keyword>. 
 The movie stars <keyword id="2201" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kangana-Ranaut">Kangana Ranaut</keyword>, who has tasted both critical and commercial success with her movie <keyword id="6377522" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="queen">Queen</keyword>, which was released in March this year. The movie, other than being a critical success, set the box office (BO) ablaze, and did a business of almost Rs 100 crore. It also established Kangana much ahead in the race of the best actress in <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword>. 
 Actor <keyword id="4759" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Madhavan">Madhavan</keyword> would be seen reprising his role of Manu in the sequel. Between the first and second movie of the Tanu Weds Manu series, he has acted in one Hindi movie, Jodi Breakers, which failed to make an impact on the BO. His other movie Taak Jhaank, which was completed in 2006 and premiered at the 19th Kolkata Film Festival in 2013, is yet to be released in theaters because of the sudden and unfortunate death of director Rituparno Ghosh. However, Madhavan still has got a certain charm, which when mixed with the right story can pull audience to theaters. 
 
Director Aanand L. Rai, who directed <keyword id="963049" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raanjhana">Raanjhana</keyword> in between the two movies, has also managed to impressed audience and critics alike in the meantime. Raanjhana earned Rs 120 crore at the BO and was also praised for its gripped direction albeit a confused storyline. 
 
Now talking of money, Tanu Weds Manu was produced at a medium budget of Rs 11.25 crore and Rs 6.25 crore were spent on the publicity, making the total estimated cost to be Rs 17.5 crore. The movie went on to do a business of worth Rs 56 crore, while being one of the biggest critical hits of 2011. 
 
It would be interesting to watch whether the actors and the director would be able to cast the same magic that they did with the first movie, or will the movie fail to make an impact on the BO, just like many other sequels made in Bollywood.

Tanu Weds Manu Season 2: Will It Be Able To Recreate The Magic?

Superstar <keyword id="2823" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</keyword> on Sunday said he has tested <keyword id="6439681" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="positive">positive</keyword> for the novel coronavirus and is under <keyword id="58995" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Home-quarantine">home quarantine</keyword>. The 53-year-old actor took to Twitter to share his diagnosis and said he is following all the necessary protocols. "I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword>. Following all the protocols I have immediately isolated myself. I am under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care," he wrote. The star, who was shooting for "Ram Setu" in the city, urged all those who came in contact with him to get themselves tested. "I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me get themselves tested and take care. Back in action soon!" he said. Kumar is the latest Bollywood celebrity to have tested positive for COVID-19 after Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Narayan, Rupali Ganguly, Kartik Aaryan and Aamir Khan among others. On Saturday, <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> reported 49,447 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest rise in a day so far, taking the tally to 29,53,523. On the work front, Kumar is awaiting the release of Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi". He also has Aanand L Rai's "Atrangi Re", Farhad Samji-directed "Bachchan Pandey", Ranjit Tiwari's "Bell Bottom" and Yash Raj Films project "Prithviraj" in the pipeline.
