According to SRCC, there was a 32% increase in the average package and a 25% increase in its median package in the year 2019-20, in comparison to last year. Placements during a pandemic SRCC is one of the top commerce institutions in India. For students to get admission into the college, they have to score over 95% in 12th grade just to get in. And, the cut-offs are only increasing every year. The first phase of the placement drive at SRCC began in December with as many as 130 students receiving job offers. The highest package offered in the first phase was ₹31 lakh a year. The second drive was scheduled in January. However, once the coronavirus pandemic kicked in, it slowed down the process. Moreover, offers of 13 students who were placed in the first phase of the placement drive were either revoked or delayed. Despite the slowdown, it held the second phase of the placement drive and managed to get over 225 job offers from 120 recruiters for its undergraduate students. Around 554 students from the batch 2020, were registered with SRCC’s Placement Cell for jobs and internships. “It was quite challenging to be able to digitalise the entire process quickly and seamlessly, given that COVID had taken a drastic toll on the recruitment sector,” Vikram Nanda, Chief Secretary of the placement cell at SRCC, said in a statement. SRCC has further managed to get new offers for some of the students whose offers were revoked in the first drive. “As a team, we were happy with the fact that our statistics were still on a gradual rise and didn’t record any fall amidst the hiring freeze,” said Nanda. SRCC is now developing a virtual recruitment portal for the upcoming placement drive for the year 2020-21. They say they are very optimistic about the upcoming season and expect increased participation in online hiring as well. It is expecting McKinsey and Kearney, and FTI Consulting to make an offer to their undergraduate students in the upcoming season. Currently, 516 students from the batch of 2021 are registered with the placement cell. Shri Ram College of Commerce sees a 32% increase in the average pay package as it ends its placement drive amid COVID-19

The Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi has released the first cut-off list 2019 for undergraduate courses today. The admissions under the first cut off will take place from 29 June to 1 July 2019. While the second and third cut-off list will be announced on 4 July and 9 July, respectively. Situated in Maurice Nagar, New Delhi, the college is one of the oldest colleges for commerce and economics. Delhi University students bag job offers that pay as much as ₹31 lakh per annum

Getting admission into <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=SRCC&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC</a>), which is regarded as one of the best colleges of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=delhi+university&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Delhi University</a>, is a matter of pride and prestige. 
 
And strikingly, 110 students from Tamil Nadu have made it the BCom (H) course of the college, which has total 160 seats for the same course.

Well, it gets more interesting here as 50 of these students belong from one school-Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Erode. 
 R P Rastogi, principal, <keyword id="6363378" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SRCC">SRCC</keyword>, told TOI, “All admissions have been done on merit." 
 
However, teachers say these students appeared to be quite average. 
 
But, there are no such doubts in the minds of the teachers at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan as last year, 36 of its students made it to SRCC and in 2014, 28 students took admission in SRCC. 
 
"Of late Shri Ram College in Delhi and Christ College in Bangalore have been big attractions for our students. SRCC is known for admissions based purely on merit and this is an advantage for us as we produce many centum scorers," N S Karthikeyani,Principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, told TOI. 
 "Maybe the questions at SRCC were presented in a way our students are not used to,” said PC Jain, who had conducted nine admission sessions as former principal of the college, adding “with <keyword id="6360099" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-University">Delhi University</keyword> becoming an attractive proposition, education boards of other states went into competitive mode to assure admissions for their students by giving them high marks.”

Among the colleges that have released the first cut off 2019 are SRCC, Kirori Mal College, Satyawati College, Dyal Singh College and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. St. Stephens College, Delhi University released the first cut-off list for admission to various undergraduate (UG) courses for this session on 24 June. This year, BSc Physics (Hons), BSc Chemistry (Hons) cut-off stood at 96.66% and 96.33%, respectively. DU admissions 2019: B.Sc Physics(Hons), B.Sc Chemistry(Hons) first cut-off released, check @du.ac.in

Two years back, a DU aspirant named <keyword id="2254302" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sunny-Goel">Sunny Goel</keyword> was denied admission by <keyword id="6542932" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shri-Ram-College-of-Commerce">Shri Ram College of Commerce</keyword> for no fault of his. 

	Goel had sought admission in B.Com (Honours) course after his best-of-four percentage increased from 95.5 percent to 97.5 percent following re-evaluation of his papers by the CBSE. He had moved the High Court after the college denied him admission on the ground that the admission process had concluded on July 7, while Goel had applied three days later, on July 10.
 Goel said he had applied for admission in the college and had also applied for revaluation but there was a delay on the part of CBSE in revaluating his English paper. He contended that students with percentages less than him were admitted to <keyword id="6363378" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SRCC">SRCC</keyword>. 

	The boy says it wasn't his fault that CBSE delayed re-evaluating his papers. Why was he being asked to pay the price for it - something he argued before the court as well. 
 

	The court had considered his plight and said the revaluation facility would be "meaningless and nugatory" if students could not make use of revaluated marks. It also held that re-evaluation of marks by CBSE was not an "exercise in futility" and has to have some "significance and import".
 SRCC was then directed to admit Goel. However, the college challenged the single-judge order and argued that it could not be directed to admit students beyond its maximum capacity as the <keyword id="56459" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="University-Grants-Commission">University Grants Commission</keyword> funding was based on their maximum intake capacity. 

	A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw of Delhi High Court had then rejected these contentions on the grounds that the college could always approach the University Grants Commission for release of additional funds.
 

	"The college (SRCC) is the premium college of commerce in the city and enjoys an enviable position. The same is obvious from the college being the first choice of Sunny Goel. We, therefore, do not find any merit in this appeal, which is dismissed," the bench had said in its judgment which came out in September.
 In such cases, another arrangement can be considered- If the college is not left with any seat, a supernumerary seat should be created by <keyword id="6360099" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Delhi-University">Delhi University</keyword> - was the advice given to the college. 

	Keeping in view the fact that the overwhelming majority of students admitted to colleges under Delhi University belong to the CBSE, the court had also directed the CBSE chairman to meet the vice chancellor to ensure that from the next academic year, "students' re-evaluation marks are taken into account while granting admission to colleges of DU".
 

	So, if you're taking admission to Delhi University this year, and your papers are getting re-evaluated or you are facing problems getting inside a college of your choice despite being eligible for a course- DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

B.Com (Hons) is one of the most common choices among the DU aspirants. The university received 106,549 applications this year for B.Com courses. DU admissions 2019: B.Com(Hons) first cut-off released, check @du.ac.in

The Delhi University has initiated the process of declaring the first cut-off list for 2019 for admissions to undergraduate (UG) courses. Among the colleges that have released the first cut off 2019 are SRCC, Kirori Mal College, Satyawati College, Dyal Singh College and <keyword id="629093" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shaheed-Bhagat-Singh-College">Shaheed Bhagat Singh College</keyword>. Shri Ram College of Commerce first cut off for BA (Hons) is pegged at 98.5%, 0.75% up from last year. The cut off for BA Economics (Hons) is 98.75%. However, the cut-offs for Miranda House, Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College for Women or LSR College, <keyword id="6454339" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="gargi-college">Gargi College</keyword>, <keyword id="6479792" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ramjas-college">Ramjas College</keyword>, <keyword id="124592" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sri-Venkateswara-College">Sri Venkateswara College</keyword> and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College has not been released yet. Abiding by the guidelines from Delhi High Court, the <keyword id="151282" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="University-of-Delhi">University of Delhi</keyword> has extended the registration date for the admission process till 22 June 2019. The admissions under the first cut off will take place from 29 June to 1 July 2019. While the second and third cut-off list will be announced on 4 July and 9 July, respectively. Earlier, the varsity was expected to announce the cut-offs in 20 June. However, the schedule was revised on Wednesday. The number of students scoring 95% and above has increased by 38.4% this year, which is expected to impact the cut-off criteria of universities. This year, the National Testing Agency will conduct an entrance examination for the University of Delhi, for certain courses. The exams will be held between 30 June and 6 July 2019. While admissions to most of the undergraduate courses will take place according to their respective cut-offs. The admission for the 2019-2021 batch will enroll students for nearly 56,000 seats for the under-graduate courses. While, for the PG courses, the university has offered around 9,500 seats. Nearly 282 new seats have been added to the Delhi University courses. Stepping up the efforts, the University of Delhi is considering one percent relaxation for the students from government-run and rural schools. The DU-Cut off list is out; and it has set the tone of a tough DU admission race. None of the <keyword id="6360099" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-University">Delhi University</keyword> colleges have kept the ceiling at 100 per cent in their first cut-off list for admission to undergraduate courses. 
 
This is not to say that the cut-offs are low this time, they have just recorded a slight dip from last year. 
 
This is what the first cut-off list looks like: 
 The highest cut-off for the academic session has been announced by <keyword id="6479792" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ramjas-College">Ramjas college</keyword> at 99.25 per cent for BCom Honours, 98.75 for BCom and 98.5 for Economics Honours. 
 The cut-off for <keyword id="6417880" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="hansraj-college">Hansraj College</keyword> has remained unchanged across stream with Eco(H) being the highest at 98 per cent. 
 
Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), ranked among the best in the country for higher studies in Commerce and Economics, announced its cut off at 98.25 per cent for Economics Honours and 98 per cent for BCom Honours. 
 
Miranda House cutoff for science courses is also same as last year with the highest being for Economics Honours at 97.75 per cent. 
 
Lady Sri Ram College has announced its cut-off for Psychology at (98.50 pc), English (98.25 pc), Economics (98 pc) and Commerce (H) (98pc). 
 
 
Why taking admission in the first list is VERY important 
You may not get the course or college of your choice, but not taking admission in the first list and waiting for the second list is a risk not worth taking. 
 
If you get a college and a course of your choice, there’s nothing like it! However, if you are facing a tricky situation like you can get admission in a course of her choice but not in a college you want to study in, the best bet is to still go ahead! 
 
This is because of two reasons: One that university counselors for years have been saying that students should always opt for course over college because even as there is difference in faculty of various colleges, picking a course over a college will give you an opportunity to study something that you are interested in. If you are considering the reputation of a college, it is only going to help you make an impression for three years and is not a long term benefitting approach. Notably, all colleges in DU follow the same curriculum and teachers are selected based on the same criteria. 
 
Secondly, all DU colleges follow a policy where applicants who were eligible but did not take admission under the first list in a particular college, will not be given consideration in the second cutoff list unless they have seats left. That means if in the second cut off list you do not get a lucrative option, and want to go back to the option in the first cut-off list, there are high chances that it may not be possible. However, if you take admission in a course you are eligible in in the first list, and make it to a college of your choice with the desired course in the second list, it’s a win-win situation because then you can go to the college, make sure you are eligible and then withdraw admission from the first college. 
 
When do you choose a college over course 
The only case in which you should choose a college over a course is of you are totally unsure about the course you want to pursue. 
 
When nothing seems to be working out, this will! 
There are five cut-off lists in total and with each list, the chances of making it to a DU college improves. However, if luck is not in your favour, there’s no reason for you to worry. You can apply to the School of Open Learning as a back-up which has BA (honours) Political Science, English and B Com, BA Programme and BA Programme courses. The admission application process hasn’t started yet, so keep your eyes out on this one!

DU FIRST CUTOFF LIST - Don't

Absurdity plays havoc in Delhi University admission criteria as the cut off mark has sky rocketed to 100%. Although that’s in two colleges for BSc (Computer Science) course, many other colleges have released 99% cut off level. 
 
While the two colleges are College of Vocational Studies (95-100%) and at I P College (97-100%), which have demanded 100% cut off, things are going berserk in Lady Shri Ram College or Hans Raj where to secure admission in Economics, one needs to score 100.75%. Psychology at LSR would now require 100.5%. 
 
While a cursory glance at the first cutoff does not show any 100% cutoffs, the hidden additional criteria means that an Economics aspirant in SRCC, Hindu, Hans Raj, Kirori Mal, Ramjas, LSR and Miranda House would need 100% and above marks in BO4 if the student did not study the subject in class XII, according to a news report in The Economic Times. 
 
Students changing stream and applying for BCom (H) in LSR and Ramjas, Political Science in Hindu, Kirori Mal and LSR and History in Hindu as well would require 100% and above marks, thanks to 2.5 percentage points penalty. 
 
 
Justifying the cutoffs, Kanika K Ahuja, LSR's media coordinator and psychology teacher, told the ET that 39 applicants who had Psychology in school and secured 98% or above had applied for the course. The number was far greater than seats on offer for the course. 
 
"Some of them may go to Economics or History or some other subject. But we won't know until they do," Ahuja added. 
 
"Anyone who hasn't studied Economics will not get admission on the basis of first cutoff, but we had no choice. Everything is unknown to us - where they want to study and what? At the same time numbers are very high. Only in the second and third list will we have a better idea," Hans Raj principal V K Kawatra told the financial daily, adding that setting the cutoffs was "very very difficult" with the new policy on additional eligibility criteria. 
 
Last year, on a single percentage point, over a 100 aspirants turned up for admission in colleges like Miranda House, Gargi College and College of Vocational Studies. "We are going to play a patient game this year. There is nothing worse than an overcrowded classroom. There is no clarity in data so there is definitely going to a cautious first list," Pratibha Jolly, principal of Miranda House told the ET.
