Of the cohort of 140 undergraduate BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) students at SP Jain School of Global Management — which is on the Forbes list of top 20 international business schools — more than 70 secured <keyword id="639373" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="jobs-in-australia">jobs in Australia</keyword> with average starting salaries of ₹27 lakh (AUD 55,000), as per the institute’s official release. “It comes as no surprise to us that a majority of students have chosen to start their careers in Australia. After completing the program, SP Jain students are entitled to a 2-year unrestricted Post Study Work Rights Visa and many of them take up this opportunity,” said Richard Coller, Director of Professional Readiness at S P Jain’s Sydney campus. Other top overseas job locations include the US, UAE, Singapore, Japan and Germany among others. Most of the offers came from Deloitte, Bank of Queensland, Mediacom, Mindshare and Schneider Electric. The top sectors of employment include sales &amp; marketing, finance and operations. Australia emerges as the hottest employment destination for Indian graduates seeking overseas jobs

<ul><li>SP Jain School of Global Management has recorded the highest starting package as ₹45 lakh for its global MBA programme. </li><li> The average annual salaries of students also increase thrice over to ₹20 lakh — compared to ₹6.5 lakh before enrolling in MBA programme. </li><li>Over half of the students were extended international placement opportunities. </li><li>Top recruiters include KPMG, Deloitte, Adani and Barclays.</li></ul>SP Jain School of Global Management, which was recently ranked as the 12th best institute for international MBA programmes by Forbes, is living up to its laurels. Of the total 180 students, more than half of MBA graduates from the b-school have bagged international offers across locations like Singapore and Dubai. The top recruiters include KPMG, Deloitte, Adani and Barclays. It has received the highest salary package ever at ₹45 lakh per annum for a student of its global MBA programme. And it is not a one off case either. The average annual salaries of students also increase thrice over to ₹20 lakh — compared to ₹6.5 lakh before enrolling in MBA programme. In the last one year, starting salaries increased by 10%. “Our students have a unique edge when it comes to competing for global jobs. They have first-hand knowledge of how to operate and succeed in a global business environment. They know how to work in global teams; these skills have continued to reap rewards in the form of better jobs and salaries long after they graduate,” said Balakrishna Grandhi, Dean of the school’s full-time post-graduate programmes. The global MBA programme is a one-year course dedicated to professionals with minimum three years of experience. One in every four offers came from the consulting sector. IIT Kharagpur kicks off placement season with a bang — 5 students bag offers over ₹1 crore

Other than the core software roles, it will also hire nearly 80 freshers as web developers, UI developers, database engineer, business development associates, research analysts, and aata analysts. “With a major share of the marketers’ budget being allocated to digital ads, there is widespread demand for professionals to meet the growing needs of customers. These new hires will bring with them innovative ideas and help us build a next-gen technology platform,” the company said in a statement. While for the managerial roles, it is absorbing talent from top b-schools in India, including Indian School of Business (ISB), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research for product management, product analytics, and product marketing roles. A global adtech firm is looking for over 130 new engineering and management freshers in Mumbai and Bengaluru

<ul><li>India’s management schools have this year breached the mark of average salaries for MBA graduates at ₹ 2 million. </li><li>Several non-IIMs including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and Xaviers School of Management have also been paying over ₹2 million average salaries. </li><li>University Business School (UBS), Punjab University (PU), recorded the highest package at ₹5.3 million this year. </li></ul>Beating the average salary packages offered in India, many top management schools in India have significantly scaled up the starting pay for students graduating in 2019. During the recent placement season, several B-schools — including Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode, <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/education/iit-bombay-placement-rs-32-4-lakh-top-package-for-mba-graduates-5554289/">Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)</a>, Bombay, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, Indian Institute of Foreign Technology (IIFT), Delhi and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) — reportedly offered packages of more than ₹2 million to MBA batches. The highest packages were reported at more than ₹3 million, compared to the average at nearly ₹2 million. According to a Campus Salary Hiring and Employment 2018 report by Mettl, the average salary for MBA graduates last year was recorded as ₹930,000 per annum, which has increased to more than a million this season. The trend clearly indicates business school graduates are now commanding better starting pay. As many as 55 companies breached the average salary mark for MDI this year, for instance, according to ET report. And not all are from the prestigious IIMs. In fact, the highest-paid graduates this year are reportedly from the University Business School (UBS), Punjab University, where the <a href="https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/chandigarh/ubs-touches-new-high-top-package-rs-53-lakh/711070.html">highest package</a> was recorded at ₹5.3 million this year. However, the average remuneration has been at ₹1.17 million for the 2018-19 batch. The average starting salaries for graduates of tier one colleges was recorded as ₹1.5 million, and tier two colleges at ₹534,000, annually, reports ET. The rise in pay may be because companies are now striving to hire quality talent with certain calibre and command, said Ketan Kapoor, Mettl. Startups, consulting firms and multinationals often chase the talent that they apparently find in premium business schools, he added. According to last year stats, the salary packages fetched by participating students crossed ₹2.4 million at the top three IIMs — Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Calcutta. However, several non-IIMs including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and Xaviers School of Management also have a track of over ₹2 million average salaries by recruiters. Highest paymaster Consulting firms have been paying the highest to the fresh graduates, ET reported citing a senior official at IIM. However, banking and financial services sector also topped the charts this year during placements. India’s B-schools are seeing higher salary packages for graduates — and it’s not just IIMs

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Dear-Snapdeal-Get-Your-House-In-Order-Before-Its-Too-Late/articleshow/45822319.cms">Snapdeal</a> plans to have an extensive engagement programme with campuses before they go for final placements as they plan to hire more candidates next year, but is looking beyond B-school products. <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> hired about 250 MBA graduates across business schools this year. 
 
"We identify the needs of all our business units through an extensive workforce planning exercise and come up with a percentage that needs to be <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Snapdeal-to-foster-employment-in-rural-India/articleshow/46504328.cms">hired</a> through campus to decide our overall campus hiring number. However, the focus in not on adding more colleges but hiring the right candidates and we will ensure a large campus pool to get the best talent and right candidates for the roles," said <keyword id="2850599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saurabh-Nigam">Saurabh Nigam</keyword>, VP at Snapdeal, told ET. 
 
Nigam said that while the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Snapdeal-launches-special-zone-atDharamshala/articleshow/47771763.cms">company</a> looks at MBA-qualified talent to fill non-technical positions in the fields of sales and marketing, business strategy, category management, supply chain and product management to make strategic business decisions, the roles offered will not necessarily depend on the pedigree of the institutes as the company is looking at a talent pool with dynamic skill sets, people who are self-driven and have risk-taking abilities. 
 
"Besides, there is a sea of talent in our country and we are not restricted to just premier MBA institutes to fuel our growth as an organisation," he added. 
 
Snapdeal, which has over 5000 employees and hired a total of 250 MBA graduates this year, had a structured hiring plan for business schools for the first time this year. Nigam stated the company is now four times the size it was a year ago. 
 
"This year we recruited interns to review the candidate pool at campuses. We were amongst the first few to visit in the laterals hiring (rolling) process across all IIMs and other premier campuses like MDI, FMS and SP Jain. Furthermore, we were able to get very competitive slots across all top-tier campuses like ISB," said Nigam.

Snapdeal would engage extensively with campuses prior placement season next year

MUMBAI: Flush with funds and hungry for growth, a bunch of startups is gearing up to stake claim on talent at India’s top campuses. 
 
As placements unfold over the next few months at the IITs, IIMs and other institutes, these startups look on track to give traditional heavyweights a run for their money in the battle for talent. 
 
Ten startups that ET spoke to are collectively looking to hire more than 850 graduates across leading business schools, engineering colleges and graduate schools this fiscal. 
 From established names such as <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, TaxiForSure and <keyword id="1006428" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Olacabs">Olacabs</keyword> to campus newbies like Vizury and <keyword id="2463175" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="CodeNation">CodeNation</keyword>, almost all are hiring in greater numbers than before, armed with attractive pay packages and the promise of greater responsibilities and faster growth for potential hires. 
 
Barely six months after being registered as a company, enterprise software developer CodeNation is already one of the most coveted recruiters at engineering campuses such as National Institutes of Technology (NITs), offering salaries of Rs 24 lakh. One of the last to go to the campuses last season, it hired 12 engineering graduates in March 2014. 
 
This time, it plans to net the best early on from the IITs, NITs, IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), DTU (Delhi Technological University) and PESIT (PES Institute of Technology). "We went to campuses very late (last time), but do not want to do the same this time. We plan to hire 50 students from the best colleges," said Anuja Sivaram, head of operations at CodeNation. 
 Another relatively new name is Bangalore-based big data analytics startup Vizury. Last year, it went to two <keyword id="2470783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="BITS-Pilani-University">BITS Pilani University</keyword> campuses with seven offers. The startup, which in June saw a third round of <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword> totaling $16 million from new and existing investors, is planning to recruit more this year. "We plan to hire 25-30 engineers from IITs, BITS Pilani University, NITs and IIIT campuses for our product engineering team. Students will be working on cuttingedge analytics and advertising technology platforms," said Subra Krishnan, vice-president in charge of products. 
 
Taxi-service startup Olacabs, fresh after raising Rs 250 crore last month, is on an expansion mode. 
 
To drive its growth plans, the company is in the market for 100 new hires from IITs and IIMs, compared with 40 it recruited last year, said co-founder and Chief Executive Bhavish Aggarwal. 
 
Rival TaxiForSure, on its part, is heading to engineering campuses for the first time this year. Until now the company hired engineers laterally. "We will head to IIT-Madras and IIT-Bombay for the first time. Now we have five engineering managers who can train the new recruits and therefore there is sufficient leadership to hire from engineering campuses," said human resources head TN Hari. 
 While it hasn’t decided on the number of engineering students to be recruited, the startup will hire 25 from IIMs in Bangalore, <keyword id="6354925" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kolkata">Kolkata</keyword>, Ahmedabad and Lucknow as well as the <keyword id="6357275" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-School-of-Business">Indian School of Business</keyword>. 
 Online retailer Flipkart, last year’s biggest <keyword id="41007" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="recruiter">recruiter</keyword> in the startup space, declined to share numbers for this year but is expected to at least match last year’s hiring tally. 
The Bangalore-based company, which made an entry into the ET Top Recruiters at B-schools survey for the first time this year, hired more than 275 students from across campuses, including 90 management trainees, 115 graduate trainees and 70 software development engineers last season.

What helps these startups attract talent other than strong hiring numbers is a vibrant work environment, and salaries that are as competitive as many established organisations. TaxiForSure, for instance, will be offering packages ofRs 8-10 lakh at IITs. At IIMs, salaries will range between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, compared with Rs 12-18 lakh last year. 
 Mobile marketing and communications startup <keyword id="416397" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ZipDial">ZipDial</keyword>, which intends to hire around 20 students this year, says while its fixed salaries may be slightly lower than market rates, top performers stand to make much more in terms of variable bonuses and employee equity grants. LimeRoad.com, which operates an online shopping platform for women, will offer employee stock option programmes. 
 Restaurant-guide startup <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> is offering around Rs 15 lakh a year while property listings portal <keyword id="1960231" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Housing-com">Housing.com</keyword> will be shelling out anywhere between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 18 lakh. 
 Mumbai-based Housing.com, which raised Rs 115 crore in a new round of funding in June, was in fact, a <keyword id="2470782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="first-day-recruiter">first-day recruiter</keyword> at <keyword id="2470784" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="IITKharagpur">IITKharagpur</keyword> placement rounds last December, sharing space with the likes of <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> and <keyword id="43340" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oracle">Oracle</keyword>. 
 
This year, as well, several startups are likely to be among the first and second day recruiters at prestigious campuses, a privilege usually reserved for big-ticket recruiters. 
 
"The culture of entrepreneurship that startups provide, the growth opportunities and the challenging work environment are all very attractive to a number of students," said Punj Rajan, a student placement committee member at IIT-Kharagpur. "They actually want several startups to be among the companies slotted in the first few days of placements." Rajan had interned with Jabong.com during summer. Even B-schools are ready to make extra efforts to attract more startups. 
 
IIM-Bangalore last year organised a separate day for startups to come and hire from the executive MBA batch. "Startups often offer senior positions and if they need more time and rounds, we are ready to stretch for them. In the near future, we may have separate startup fairs for our flagship PGP batch too," said Sapna Agarwal, head of career development services at IIM-Bangalore. 
 
Not surprisingly, Advitiya Sharma, co-founder of Housing.com, says he has been flooded by invitations from top colleges. His plans are not firmed up as yet, but he intends to hire around 25 people from IITs and a similar number from IIMs across software, analytics, operations and tech roles. 
 
Another startup, Wooqer, has already made three pre-placement offers at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. It plans to hire 25 students across IITs and a couple of NITs, and intends to reach out to IIM-Indore, IIM-Bangalore, SP Jain Institute of Management &amp; Research and NMIMS soon. 
 
Salaries will range from Rs 13 lakh toRs 17 lakh. Other institutes including graduate and design schools are also being targeted by these startups. 
 
Upasana Nath, chief recruitment officer at Zomato, said besides the 40 students it will be hiring from engineering colleges like the IITs and senior leadership profiles from IIMs and ISB, it will be taking on board 200 for front line sales and content operations from graduate colleges in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Suchi Mukherjee, CEO &amp; co-founder of LimeRoad.com, said the startup intends to get 30-50 people from campuses alone. IITs in Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai and Chennai will be the focus for technology and IIMs in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata for product managers, marketing and category managers.

Indian Startups Compete With Bigger Firms For Campus Recruits

US tech company <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Cognizant+" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Cognizant</a> has retained its first place for the third time in the list of top recruiters in India, making as many as 192 offers at various MBA institutes in the country. 
 
Moreover, three other companies — <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Wipro" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Wipro</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Deloitte+" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Deloitte</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=HCL" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">HCL</a> — made more than 100 offers in these institutes. Last year, only two companies had made offers in excess of 100, an exclusive ET survey has revealed. 
 
In a testimony to the growing demand for topnotch MBA talent, India Inc's top recruiters have stepped up campus hiring by 33.5%. 
Ten of India's biggest recruiters hired a total of 1,033 MBAs from 22 top business schools ET surveyed for this study. Around 774 graduates were picked by the top ten recruiters across 21 B-schools the previous year. 
 
These numbers, in absolute terms, reflect what is easily the most aggressive MBA talent drive in the five years that the ET India's Top Recruiters study is being conducted. 
 
The ET top 10 recruiters survey results are based on data from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IIM+Ahmedabad+" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">IIM Ahmedabad</a>; IIM Bangalore; IIM Calcutta; IIM Kozhikode; IIM Indore; IIM Shillong; IIM Ranchi; IIM Raipur; IIM Udaipur; Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies; Indian Institute of Foreign Trade; International Management Institute, New Delhi; Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi; Faculty of Management Studies, BHU; Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi; XLRI Jamshedpur; XIM Bhubaneswar; SP Jain Institute of Management &amp; Research; IIM Rohtak; MDI Gurgaon; IIM Kashipur and IIM Trichy. 
 Meanwhile, IIT Delhi's Department of Management Studies and IIM Rohtak replaced <keyword id="3761718" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jamnalal-Bajaj-Institute-of-Management-Studies">Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies</keyword> this year. There were 21 institutes last year. 
 With one in every 20-25 technology professionals holding a master's in business administration, Sriram Rajagopal, vice president — HR at <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword> Technology Solutions, says his company is probably one of the most aggressive MBA recruiters in India. 
Besides the 192 hired across the 22 business schools, the company offered jobs to more than 500 MBAs from the 2015 graduating batch. 
 
"We are in the midst of once-in-a-decade shift in the technology landscape. This trend is creating significant opportunities for B-school graduates. We believe our industry leading growth is, in part, a function of our ability to proactively provide solutions to business problems and not just technological capability and this attribute is strengthened by our MBA talent," said Rajagopal. 
 Following on the heels of Cognizant are Wipro, <keyword id="6358918" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deloitte">Deloitte</keyword>, <keyword id="30331" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="HCL-Technologies">HCL Technologies</keyword>, ICICI Bank and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=KPMG" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">KPMG</a>. The first five companies have been regulars on the top 10 list for the past five years. 
 Moreover, the fifth position this year is shared by two. <keyword id="50041" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="KPMG">KPMG</keyword> has made a big entry into the list for the first time to be alongside ICICI Bank. The consultancy firm hired 90 students from the surveyed schools, and reported a more than 20% overall jump in its MBA intake over the past two years. 
"Our MBA intake over the past few years has increased substantially," said Shalini Pillay, head of people, performance and culture at KPMG in India. "This is commensurate with our growth across various services in the advisory space.” 
 
Rival Deloitte reported a 30% increase in overall MBA hiring over the previous year, taking in 108 graduates at the surveyed schools alone. Wipro said it strengthened its focus on hiring from select B-schools and recruited 127. HCL and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ICICI+Bank+" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">ICICI Bank</a> hired 101 and 90, respectively, from the surveyed business schools. 
 
"Hiring talent from top-tier business schools through campus recruitment, thereby building a talent pipeline to create leaders for tomorrow, has been integral to ICICI Bank's recruitment strategy. This year, we have recruited 180 students from business schools across the country," said TK Srirang, the bank's senior general manager and HR head. 
 <keyword id="6370971" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Accenture">Accenture</keyword> and <keyword id="15492" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Vodafone">Vodafone</keyword> enhanced B-school hiring and reported a significant uptick in this year's numbers. Accenture was the top recruiter at the top three IIMs, with 49 offers, of them 21 at IIM Ahmedabad alone. 
 
"Yes, we are hiring more MBAs now. We believe that MBA talent is extremely important and a key component of our hiring and growth strategy," said Sukhpreet Kalra, associate director, recruitment, for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Accenture+" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Accenture</a> in India. 
 
Vodafone recruited 82 graduates from the surveyed schools to debut on the list at the eighth position. While Amazon led the ecommerce companies vying for fresh MBA talent, hiring 84 across the schools surveyed and moving to the seventh position from joint ninth last year. With <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> snapping up the ninth slot and making its debut on the list with 81 hires, India's largest online retailer, <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, missed out on the top 10 rankings by a whisker. 
 
Raj Raghavan, HR director at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Amazon" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Amazon</a> India, said the company has seen a 140% increase in its MBA intake over the past two years. "B-school graduates are a key part of our growth story in India and we are building a leadership pipeline for the future," he said. The company offered roles across operations, consumer business, HR and finance, and around 25% of its MBA hires came through pre-placement offers. 
 
Snapdeal, for the first time, had a large structured B-school hiring plan. It hired for roles in sales and marketing, business strategy, category management, supply chain and product management. 
 
"MBA graduates have proven to be better equipped to analyse, interpret and find actionable trends from complex data. Thus, it is crucial for us to get on board MBA talent for the company's overall business and growth strategy. We have hired around 250 MBA graduates across Indian B-schools this year," said Vice President Saurabh Nigam. 
 
Companies like Deloitte and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vodafone+" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Vodafone</a> hired a big chunk of B-school graduates through pre-placement offers (PPOs). 
 
"In the last fiscal (year), we had about 288 interns... A majority of them went on to secure PPOs," said SV Nathan, senior director and chief talent officer at Deloitte in India. Out of the 100 B-school candidates Vodafone hired this year, 57% had been through PPOs. The focus on B-school talent is only going to sharpen for recruiters, the study shows. 
 
Amazon's Raghavan said with India becoming a major growth story for the US-headquartered company, it was looking for top talent from business schools to build a career in Amazon.
