Indian markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) approved 16 IPOs worth ₹16,000 crore ($2.24 billion). And, yet another 13 companies which want to raise as much as ₹21,200 crore are await approval, says a report by Edelweiss Broking. These companies might want to replicate the success they saw last year. In 2019, new public issues raised as much as ₹1.25 lakh crore. “We expect the pipeline to grow stronger and larger as the year passes by,” the report stated. New Delhi, Feb 17 () SBI Cards and Payment Services, the credit card unit of the country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI), has received markets regulator Sebi's go ahead to float an initial public offering. The company, which had filed draft IPO papers in November, obtained "observations" from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on February 11 latest update with the regulator showed. Sebi's observations are necessary for any company to launch public issues including initial public offer, follow-on public offer and rights issue. As per the draft papers, SBI Cards will offer up to 130,526,798 equity shares through offer for sale route. This will include up to 37,293,371 share sale by SBI and up to 93,233,427 shares on offer by Carlyle Group. In addition, the company will also issue fresh equity shares of Rs 500 crore. SBI holds 76 per cent in SBI Cards and rest of the stake is held by Carlyle Group. According to market sources, the IPO size could be estimated at more than Rs 6,000 crore. SBI Cards is the second-largest credit card issuer in India with an 18 per cent market share. Kotak Mahindra Capital, Axis Capital, DSP Merryl Lynch, Nomura Financial Advisory, HSBC Securities and SBI Capital Markets are the book-running lead managers of the issue. Earlier in December, SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar had said the SBI Cards IPO would be launched in the coming months. SBI Cards IPO subscribed 39 pc on first day of bidding

New Delhi, Feb 28 () SBI Cards and Payment Services' initial public offer of around Rs 9,000 crore will open for subscription on March 2 amid volatile stock markets due to deepening concerns over coronavirus outbreak. For qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), the subscription will close on March 4 while the issue closes on March 5, SBI Cards and Payment Services managing director and chief executive Hardayal Prasad said on Friday. SBI Cards has set the price band at Rs 750-755 for the share sale. According to drafts paper, the proceeds from the IPO will be used to augment the firm's capital base to meet future capital requirement. "The net proceeds are proposed to be utilised for augmenting our Company's capital base which will be utilised towards company's business and growth including towards extending credit to our customers, meeting our operating expenditure and future working capital requirements which are expected to arise out of the growth of our business," it said. According to the draft papers, SBI Cards will offer up to 130,526,798 equity shares through an offer-for-sale route. This will include up to 37,293,371 share sale by SBI and up to 93,233,427 shares on offer by Carlyle Group. In addition, the company will also issue fresh equity shares of Rs 500 crore. SBI Cards and Payment Services has raised Rs 2,769 crore from 74 anchor investors, ahead of its initial share sale starting on March 2. Anchor investors are institutional investors who are offered shares in an initial public offering (IPO) ahead of its opening. Singapore government, Monetary Authority of Singapore, HDFC Mutual Fund, Government Pension Fund Global and Birla Mutual Fund, are among the anchor investors. Shares have been allotted at the offer's upper price band of Rs 755 apiece, as per a regulatory filing. There are 12 mutual funds among the 74 anchor investors, who have been allocated 3,66,69,589 shares and its value stood at Rs 2,768.55 crore. (Eds: Adding details) New Delhi, Mar 5 () Eliciting a robust response, the initial share sale of SBI Cards and Payment Services was subscribed 22.45 times on the final day of bidding on Thursday even as the broader market sentiment remained at a low ebb on coronavirus concerns.The Initial Public Offer (IPO) of SBI Cards, part of the country's largest public sector lender SBI, is also one of the largest share sale in recent times, both in terms of size and oversubscription.More than 225 crore bids were received for the offer worth Rs 10,355 crore. A total of 10 crore shares were up for bidding, as per NSE data till 1830 hrs.Non-institutional investors category was subscribed 45 times and retail individual investors 2.5 times, according to merchant banking sources.Sources said there was blockbuster response to SBI Cards IPO despite challenging market conditions and that the offer has been subscribed more than 26 times. For Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB), the issue closed on Wednesday and for all other bidders it closed on Thursday. The QIB category was subscribed 57.18 times, as per the NSE data. The offer comprised fresh issue of shares worth Rs 500 crore and an offer-for-sale of 13,05,26,798 shares, including anchor portion of 3,66,69,589 shares. At the upper end of the Rs 750-755 apiece price band, the sale would fetch Rs 10,355 crore. SBI Cards IPO is among the largest in terms of oversubscription value in at least 12 years. SBI Cards IPO elicits strong investor response; gets subscribed over 22 times

Mumbai, Feb 25 () The second largest card issuer SBI Cards &amp; Payment Services, which is hitting the primary market with a Rs 9,000-crore initial public offering, has set the price band for the share sale at Rs 750-755. The IPO, opening on March 2 and closing on 4, comprises fresh issue of equity shares aggregating to Rs 500 crore and an offer for sale where promoters will offload nearly 13 crore shares. Promoters SBI and Carlyle Group will offload 3.73 crore shares and 9.32 shares respectively. SBI holds 74 per cent in SBI Card and the rest by the Carlyle Group and they will pare their stakes by 4 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, SBI Managing Director Dinesh Khara told reporters kicking of the IPO roadshow. SBI Card's market share in terms of the number of credit cards outstanding is 18 per cent. The pure-play credit card company's gross NPA stood at 2.47 per cent in December 2019 compared to 2.44 per cent in March 2019 and 2.83 per cent in March 2018, he said. SBI Card managing director and chief executive Hardayal Prasad attributed the spike in gross NPAs in March 2018 to the entry into new markets post-demonetisation but it did not generate the desired results. "We were testing some waters but it didn't work out the way we were thinking and the delinquency went up to 2.8 per cent. We have worked assiduously in terms of reducing the numbers, and 2.4-2.5 per cent is what we are continuously looking at and would like to maintain it," Prasad said. SBI Card was launched in October 1998 by SBI and GE Capital but in December 2017, GE sold back its stake to State Bank of India and the Carlyle Group. Talking about the merchant discount rate (MDR), Khara said MDR has not been removed for credit cards but only for debit cards. MDR is the fee collected by banks from merchants processing the transactions. ₹10,000 invested in SBI Cards during IPO is worth about ₹6,700 now⁠— here’s why

The country saw 10 initial public offerings worth USD 1.41 billion in the first three months of this year but the median deal size was just USD 1 million, according to a report. <keyword id="116253" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI-cards">SBI Cards</keyword> and Payments' share sale alone accounted for USD 1.4 billion mop-up. Consultancy <keyword id="267073" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="EY">EY</keyword> on Thursday said consumer products and retail were the most active sectors with three <keyword id="35156" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipos">IPOs</keyword> launched on SME markets with an approximate size of USD 1 million each. "India recorded 10 IPOs (USD 1.41 billion proceeds and USD 1 million median deal size) in the first quarter of 2020 with Indian stock exchanges (BSE and NSE including SMEs) ranking eighth globally in terms of number of IPOs," it said. During the first quarter, the IPO (<keyword id="35216" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="initial-public-offering">initial public offering</keyword>) of SBI Cards and Payments was also the biggest in over two years. The issue size was USD 1.4 billion and the issue was subscribed over 22 times. In the main markets -- the NSE and the BSE, there was one IPO in the first quarter versus five each in the first quarter and fourth quarter of 2019, representing a significant drop of 80 per cent, the report said. "In the SME markets, there were nine IPOs in Q1 2020 versus 15 IPOs and 6 IPOs in Q1 2019 and Q4 2019 respectively, representing a significant drop of 40 per cent as compared to Q1 2019 and increase of 50 per cent over Q4 2019, respectively," it noted. Sandip Khetan, partner and national leader (financial accounting advisory services), EY India, said the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact livelihoods and economies worldwide, creating uncertain times. "Indian capital markets have experienced significant erosion of market capitalisation, and companies will take time to recover. While this may present a viable long-term investment opportunity, caution is being observed in the short-term. "Sectors like life sciences, pharmaceuticals and digital are likely to revive sooner in the current economic climate," he said. RAM HRS
