The latest <keyword id="240161" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="fortune-500">Fortune 500</keyword> list, which counts world's biggest corporations in terms of revenue, has got the name of seven Indian companies in it. 
 
The list is topped by retail giant Walmart, with state-run Indian Oil Corp being ranked the highest-rated Indian firm (161st). Other Indian firms in the list are State Bank of India, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum from the public sector, and Reliance Industries, Tata Motors and Rajesh Exports from the private sector. 
 
State-run firm ONGC was included in the list last year but has moved out of the list for this year, while private gems and jewellery major Rajesh Exports has debuted in the list, grabbing the 423rd position. 
 
Even though Indian Oil is the highest-ranked Indian firm with revenue of USD 54.7 billion, it has slipped several ranks down from its 119th position last year. Similarly, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/RIL-is-handing-out-up-to-10-hikes-and-100-bonuses-to-its-employees/articleshow/52237887.cms">Reliance Industries</a>, the highest-ranked private firm from India, has also slipped down to 215th from last year’s 158th. While <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Bharat-Petroleum-Corps-profits-have-jumped-95/articleshow/48481035.cms">Bharat Petroleum</a> is ranked 358th as compared to 280th last year, Hindustan Petroleum is down at 367th from 327th. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Tata-Motors-Messi/articleshow/53095252.cms">Tata Motors</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/SBI-aims-for-unbanked-rural-India-for-business-correspondent-model/articleshow/53315581.cms">SBI</a>, on the other hand, have improved their ranks in the list, grabbing the 226th (up from 254th last year) and 232nd ranks (up from 260th last year), respectively.

Recent list of Fortune 500 has seven Indian firms in it

The <keyword id="2965119" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fortune-Global-500-list">Fortune Global 500 list</keyword> is out and this time, seven Indian companies have made their way to the list. These include Indian oil, <keyword id="6355199" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword>, <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword>, State Bank of India (<keyword id="13222" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword>), Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Oil and Natural Gas (ONGC); they have been ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years. 
 The topper on the list was <keyword id="80487" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="walmart">Walmart</keyword>, as reported by Economic Times. 
 
With revenues of about $74 billion, Indian Oil, a Delhi-based Petroleum refining company, has secured 119th place on the list. Reliance Industries has earned 158th place; Tata Motors was ranked 254th; State Bank of India was at 260th position; Bharat Petroleum gained 280th rank, Hindustan Petroleum with revenues of $35 billion was at 327th position and lastly, ONGC, with revenues of $26 billion, remained on 449th place. 
 In 2014, the world's 500 largest companies generated $31.2 trillion in revenues and $1.7 trillion in profits. This year's <keyword id="190055" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fortune-Global-500">Fortune Global 500</keyword> employ 65 million people from 36 countries across the globe. 
 The US is home to 128 of the 500 global companies, including <keyword id="6354427" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Apple">Apple</keyword> (15), JP Morgan Chase (61), IBM (82), <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> (95), <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> (124), <keyword id="44672" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pepsi">Pepsi</keyword> (141), Intel (182) and Goldman Sachs (278). 
 On the other hand, China remained close to 100 companies on the list, including <keyword id="104905" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bank-of-China">Bank of China</keyword> (45), China Railway Engineering (71) and China Development Bank (87). 
 
While Indian companies like Tata Motors and SBI gained a better place in the list, Indian Oil, Reliance, Bharat Petroleum and Oil and Natural Gas went down in the rankings as compared to what they scored last year. 
 
The companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years ended on or before March 31, 2015. Revenue figures include consolidated subsidiaries and reported revenues from discontinued operations, but exclude excise taxes.

IOC came first with an annual revenue of Rs 4,51,911 Crores. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Reliance+Industries">RIL</a> stood second with Rs. 3,82,565 Crores. Tata Motors jumped to the third position with a revenue of Rs 2,67,025 Crores. Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and State Bank of India (SBI) came fourth and fifth. 
 
"While the total revenue of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Fortune+500+">Fortune India 500 </a>companies has nearly doubled from Rs 38,16,000 crore in 2010 to Rs 71,27,000 crore in 2015, the same cannot be said of profits, which went up by a meagre 3.6 per cent over the period," the magazine noted. 
 
Other notable companies in the top 10 include Hindustan Petroleum at 6th with a revenue of Rs 2,13,380 crore, followed by ONGC at Rs. 1,65,161 Crores, Tata Steel at Rs 1,41,669 Crores, Hindalco Industries at Rs 1,06,897 Crores and TCS at Rs 98,368 Crores.

IOC and RIL rank 1st
and 2nd for 6 years in a row among Fortune 500 India

State-run Indian Oil Corporation has maintained its numero uno position followed by <keyword id="6355199" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> in terms of revenue for the sixth consecutive year in the list of Fortune 500 Indian companies 2015. 
 
IOC tops the chart with an annual revenue of Rs 4,51,911 crore, while Mukesh Ambani-led RIL's full-year revenue is Rs 3,82,565 crore. <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> with a revenue of Rs 2,67,025 crore jumped to third slot from last year's fifth place by replacing Bharat Petroleum (BPCL). State Bank of India (SBI) moved to fourth position with an annual revenue of Rs 2,57,289 crore, from sixth rank in 2014. 
 
Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) is ranked fifth with an annual revenue of Rs 2,40,367 crore. It had grabbed the third spot in last year's ranking. 
 
The list, which has been compiled by global business magazine Fortune's Indian edition since 2010, said the total revenue of firms has grown a merely 2.7 per cent and profits fell 5.9 per cent compared with 2014. 
 
"While the total revenue of Fortune India 500 companies has nearly doubled from Rs 38,16,000 crore in 2010 to Rs 71,27,000 crore in 2015, the same cannot be said of profits, which went up by a meagre 3.6 per cent over the period," the magazine noted. 
 Others in the top 10 are <keyword id="6374014" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Petroleum">Hindustan Petroleum</keyword> (sixth in the ranking, with a revenue of Rs 2,13,380 crore, followed by ONGC Rs 1,65,161 crore, <keyword id="6357147" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Steel">Tata Steel</keyword> Rs 1,41,669 crore, Hindalco Industries Rs 1,06,897 crore and TCS Rs 98,368 crore. 
 
According to Fortune India, "While the overall scene does not seem too promising, individual companies are swimming against the tide to deliver value to customers and shareholders." 
 Among others in the list are <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> (47th rank), Asian Paints (85), TVS Motor Company (125), <keyword id="6369697" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Godrej">Godrej</keyword> Consumer Products (157), Kwality (195), Aegis Logistics (271), Srei Infrastructure Finance (303), Transport Corporation of India (397) and Persistent Systems (447). 
 
The ranking is based on total revenues of the organisation. Other individual parameters include year-on-year change in total revenues, net operating income, profits, assets, networth, dividend, among others. 
 
Fortune ranks top players across different sectors ranging from banking, telecommunications, automobiles, consumer durables, pharma, FMCG, infrastructure, media, oil and gas, power, real estate, retail and among others.

E-commerce management platform CommerceIQ will be hiring 250 people next year across various domains

According to a report in CNBC, several of Musk's close friends and associates say that "Musk has told them he's planning to move to the Lone Star State". "Even the people who know him well and are aware of his general plans to move to Texas say they don't know where exactly he stays when he's there and that he tries to keep those details private," the report said on Friday. In May this year, Musk said he was selling all his houses and listed his California properties too. Musk was granted 101.3 million options, adjusted after a 5-for-1 stock split, this year. In the meantime, Tesla's stock has surged 782 per cent in the past year. "As of October, Musk had earned awards currently worth about $20 billion before taxes, based on Thursday's close, a portion of the potential total," the report said. Musk last month surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to become the second-richest person in the world. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index put the Tesla chief executive with a $127.9 billion fortune above Gates at $127.7 billion for the first time. The 49-year-old entrepreneur has added more than $100 billion to his net worth since January 2020, making him one of the fastest-growing among the world's 500 richest people. The move to Texas makes sense for him as it has no state income tax while California has the highest tax regime in the country. Musk frequently visits Texas where Tesla and his startup Boring Company have operations and also a SpaceX facility that began operations in 2003. Tesla CEO Elon Musk plans to move to Texas from California

Corporate giants Reliance Industries Limited and Aditya Birla Nuvo Limited, the promoter group of <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword>, have applied to the Reserve Bank of India (<keyword id="30067" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI">RBI</keyword>) for licenses for setting up of payment banks. In the case of <keyword id="6484187" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="RIL">RIL</keyword>, the company would be the promoter company while India’s largest public sector unit, State Bank of India will have 30% of equity investment in the joint venture. 
	 “This partnership brings together the combined strengths of two of India’s Fortune 500 corporations committed to making a transformative impact on India’s financial inclusion landscape,” said the company in a letter to the National Stock Exchange (<keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword>). 
	 
	It further added, “The Payments Bank will leverage SBI’s nationwide distribution network and risk management capabilities along with the substantial investments made by RIL in its retail and telecom businesses. It will deploy state-of-the-art technology, build scalable infrastructure and create extensive branch and business correspondent network in order to provide last-mile access and intuitive user experience to all sections of society.” 
	 
	On the other hand, Aditya Birla Nuvo Limited, has applied for a payment bank license to the RBI. “ABNL would hold 51% equity in the payments bank, which is proposed to be registered under Idea Payments Bank Limited,” the company said in its filings to the NSE. 
	 
	According to the filing, the Board of the company had approved participation in payment bank up to 49% and up to 60% through the automatic route. 
	 “A wholly-owned subsidiary of Idea, Idea Mobile Commerce Services Ltd, has a current authorization from the RBI to issue Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI Issuer). As per the guidelines, a PPI issuer cannot co-exist within the same promoter group. Hence, in case the Payment Bank license is granted to <keyword id="193651" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ABNL">ABNL</keyword>, then the business carried out by PPI Issuer will be folded into such Payment bank,” added the company. 
	 
	As per the RBI guidelines, the minimum entry capital for Payment Banks should be Rs 100 crore.
