SBI Card CEO resigns, Ashwini Kumar Tewari to takeover

<keyword id="13222" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword> cuts <keyword id="6354730" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Home-loan">home loan</keyword> rate; ICICI cash in on the festive fervour, banks including SBI and ICICI have unveiled a host of benefits such as reduction in rates, waiver of processing fee and overdraft facility. 
 SBI has further slashed interest rates by 0.15 per cent for its home loans up to Rs 75 lakh, while <keyword id="6653" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI Bank</keyword> is offering overdraft facility along with the home loan. 
 SBI Home Loans are cheapest in the market and provide an excellent opportunity for both new home buyers as well as those who wish to switch over their home loan to SBI to save on <keyword id="6357050" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="EMI">EMI</keyword>, the bank said in a statement. 
 
SBI home loan would be available at 9.15 percent while women borrower will get at 9.10 percent. 
 
Another market major ICICI Bank is offering the salaried having an account with it, credit from Rs 5 lakh going up to Rs 1 crore against property owned by them. 
 The product, 'ICICI <keyword id="3805058" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bank-home-overdraft">Bank Home Overdraft</keyword>', will offer dual advantage of a term loan as well as an overdraft facility, the bank said in a statement. 
 
"While the term loan provides customers with quick funds for immediate needs, the overdraft facility offers them the flexibility to access funds instantly for expenses, as and when required," it said. 
 
Those buying the overdraft loan from the bank would be able to utilise the funds for their personal needs such as for education, medical treatment, home renovation, marriage and overseas travel among others. 
 
Beginning from a minimum of Rs 5 lakh to a maximum of Rs 1 crore, customers will have the facility to avail a minimum 10 per cent of the total amount as term loan and maximum 90 per cent as an overdraft. 
 
ICICI Bank said the interest on term loan would be charged as per the equated monthly instalment, while on the overdraft the charges will be only on the utilised amount for the period the funds are used. 
 
On a Home Loan of Rs 50 lakh, reduction in interest rate by 0.15 percent by SBI will help a home buyer to save Rs 542 per month and approximately Rs 2 lakh during the loan tenure of 30 years, SBI said. 
 
According to SBI, the value of the savings on EMI of Rs 542 per month, if invested in a recurring deposit, will be approximately Rs 6 lakh at the end of the loan tenure. offers overdraft

SBI cuts home loan rate; ICICI offers overdraft

SBI Cards and Payment Services has raised Rs 2,769 crore from 74 anchor investors, ahead of its initial share sale starting on March 2. Anchor investors are institutional investors who are offered shares in an initial public offering (IPO) ahead of its opening. Singapore government, Monetary Authority of Singapore, HDFC Mutual Fund, Government Pension Fund Global and Birla Mutual Fund, are among the anchor investors. Shares have been allotted at the offer's upper price band of Rs 755 apiece, as per a regulatory filing. There are 12 mutual funds among the 74 anchor investors, who have been allocated 3,66,69,589 shares and its value stood at Rs 2,768.55 crore. The price band for the share sale -- which would be open from March 2 to 5 -- has been fixed at Rs 750-755 apiece. SBI Cards expects to raise around Rs 9,000 crore through the IPO. As per draft paper for the IPO, SBI Cards would offer up to 130,526,798 equity shares through an offer-for-sale route. This would include offloading of up to 37,293,371 shares by SBI and 93,233,427 scrips by Carlyle Group. In addition, the company would issue fresh equity shares worth Rs 500 crore. SBI holds 76 per cent in SBI Cards and the rest of the stake is held by Carlyle Group.

The <keyword id="6354731" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="state-bank-of-india" source="Orion">State Bank of India</keyword> (<keyword id="13222" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="sbi" source="Orion">SBI</keyword>) on Thursday said the <keyword id="6354335" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (<keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword>) should internationalise the Indian rupee. In a research report, the SBI said that the central bank should make a conscious effort to internationalise the rupee. "The Russia-Ukraine war and the disruptions to payments caused by it, is a good opportunity to insist on export settlement in rupee, beginning with some of the smaller export partners," the SBI said. The banking major also welcomed the RBI's measures relaxing the external commercial borrowing (ECB) and foreign portfolio investors (FPI) norms in the debt segment. According to the SBI, the global economy is volatile and on an average, energy, base metals, precious metals, and agricultural prices are now down 25 per cent from 52 week highs with markets anticipating a global slowdown morphing into a full-blown global recession. However, it is not clear whether such decline is the result of synchronised global rate actions or genuine fears of a recession looming large, the SBI report noted. In <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, such global developments could have a direct bearing on the inflation trajectory in the second half of the current fiscal. "The RBI has been on course in normalising liquidity and net LAF (liquidity adjustment facility) is now close to the 1.5 per cent threshold non-inflationary level of liquidity. However, the problem is unspent Government cash balances that has now jumped to Rs 3.1 trillion," the report said. This effectively implies that core liquidity is still at Rs. 6.2 trillion as against Rs 8.3 trillion in the beginning of April. Additionally, the RBI has also announced a slew of measures to augment capital inflows by making <keyword id="11904949" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nri" source="Orion">NRI</keyword> deposits more attractive. The SBI said the cumulative impact of all these measures will be beneficial for the external sector given the fact that total Non-Resident Indian (NRI) deposits exhibited an inflow of $3.2 billion in FY22 as against the inflows of $7.4 billion in FY21. On credit growth, the SBI said it expanded at Rs 2.6 lakh crores far outstripping bank deposit growth at Rs 1.04 lakh crore in the current year. The continued growth in bank credit is a matter of comfort and indicates that the Indian economy is still navigating through the turmoil rather well. It's the right time on export settlements in Rupee, SBI tells RBI

A Delhi consumer forum has directed the <keyword id="13222" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sbi" source="Orion">SBI</keyword> Cards &amp; Payments Services Pvt. Ltd. to pay Rs 2 lakh to a person here for sending him bill even after his card's expiry and blacklisting him for non-payment of the charges. The New Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum comprising its president Monika A Srivastava and members Kiran Kausal and Umesh Kumar Tyagi directed the company to pay the amount to M J Anthony, a former journalist, for "deficiency in providing services". The forum noted that the company had blacklisted him in the CIBIL system of the wilful defaulters maintained by the RBI, which resulted in the rejection of his applications for credit cards from another bank where he had maintained regular account for nearly two decades. "This Commission is of the view that the SBI Cards &amp; Payments Services Pvt. Ltd. has been deficient in providing services to the complainant and though the damage/loss occasioned to the complainant in terms of credit rating cannot be measured in terms of money yet punitive damage ought to be awarded against OP (opposite party) therefore, OP is directed to compensate the complainant by paying a sum of Rs 2 lakh as compensation within two months from the date of this order failing which the sum payable would be Rs 3 lakh," the forum said. The forum passed the order on May 20 on Anthony's complaint seeking compensation, claiming that he had requested the company to cancel his card in April 2016 much before its expiry and not to renew it. He did not use the card for any transaction after April 9, 2016 and had destroyed the card according to rules, he said, adding that no payment was due at that time on the card. In September, the complainant received a letter from the company about the cancellation of his card, however, the company continued to send bills relating to the card ignoring his protest e-mails, he said. The bills were to the tune of Rs 2,946 by May 18, 2017 inclusive of late payment charges and penalty, he said. He stated that in the same letter, the company had warned him to pay the bill otherwise it would "have adverse impact on the credit history as maintained by the credit Bureau and may hamper future credit requirement". The company further blacklisted him in the CIBIL system of the wilful defaulters maintained by RBI and he had trouble in getting loans or credit card.
