These discoveries shed light on the composition and origin of rock fragments in the South Pole region. ISRO has reported that the Pragyan rover has observed small rock fragments scattered around the rims, wall slopes, and floors of small craters at the landing site. The rover traversed 103 meters on the lunar surface during a single lunar day. According to ISRO, these findings could prove to be a major leap forward in <keyword id="20359086" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lunar-exploration" source="keywords">lunar exploration</keyword> as they support previous studies. They suggest a gradual coarsening of rock fragments within the lunar regolith, the loose soil layer covering the Moon's surface. ISRO launched the 27-kilogram Pragyan rover onboard the Vikram lander, equipped with cameras and instruments to analyze the lunar soil. The rover also carried the ISRO logo and the Indian tricolor to the Moon's surface. The rock fragments discovered by the Pragyan rover range in size from one centimeter to approximately 11.5 centimeters. These rock fragments were found dispersed around the rims, slopes, and floors of small craters. However, none of the rocks exceeded 2 meters in length. ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 mission is making significant progress in unraveling the mysteries of the Moon's South Pole. The Pragyan rover's findings on rock fragments are providing valuable insights into lunar geology and paving the way for future exploration and resource utilization. Recently, ISRO chief S. On August 23, 2023, the Chandrayaan-3 mission created history with the successful soft landing on Moon's surface. India is now the first nation to reach near the Moon's unexplored South Pole and ranks amongst the top four nations to carry out a soft landing on the lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3 is India's third lunar mission and the second attempt to land softly on the moon's surface. It's part of the Chandrayaan program, a series of missions developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to explore the moon. The mission consists of a Vikram lunar lander, a Pragyan lunar rover, and a propulsion module that carries the spacecraft from Earth orbit to lunar orbit. Additionally, in a major milestone, India placed its first dedicated solar mission, the Aditya-L1 spacecraft, in the Halo orbit. The country went gaga over this historic achievement, especially since this mission came at the back of India's moon landing, the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Aditya-L1 reached Lagrange Point L1 which is about 1.5 million km from earth. The PSLV-C57.1 rocket carrying the Aditya-L1 orbiter lifted off successfully from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, in September.

European Space Agency Director praises ISRO, calls India's accomplishments in space "astonishing"

New Delhi, Nov 20 () Bengali artist Somnath Hore's untitled bronze sculpture of a flower fetched Rs 36 lakhs, doubling its upper estimate at Mumbai-based auction house Prinseps' recent sale in Mumbai. 
 As a member of the Communist Party, the ideologies of the Bengali sculptor often influenced his artwork as seen in this work, which has been described by his family as representing a symbol of female resistance.
The sale, first of Prinseps' live sales, was conducted by internationally acclaimed auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, and saw 20 out of 25 lots sold for a total of over Rs 4.44 crore. 
 Highlights of the sale also included Francis Newton Souza's 1961 untitled painting of the Pope that sold for Rs 1.10 crore. 
 In the painting, Souza showcases the pope wearing golden robes, along with other aspects of Papal regalia, except he purposefully leaves the tiara or the mitre out of the frame. Only the filigree is visible.
"The work represents Souza's complicated relationship with Catholicism. Brought up as a Goan Christian by his grandmother, Souza was enthralled by the various traditions of the Church and its representatives. This was to change later on, with many of Souza's works addressing his loss of faith in religion," the auction house said in a statement.
 The sale also featured modernist Amarnath Sehgal's bronze sculpture "Ganesha" which sold above its higher estimate for Rs 9 lakh.
 Two paintings by painter Jamini Roy sold for Rs 24 lakh and Rs 2.04 lakh respectively, at almost double their higher estimates. 
 The sale also included a collection of rare books from the Jorasanko Palace, the ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore, which sold at Rs 9 lakh, above its higher estimate of Rs 6 lakh. TRS TRS

Ex law minister of Delhi <keyword id="1077215" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Somnath-Bharti">Somnath Bharti</keyword>, popular for his late night crackdown on Nigerian women in South Delhi that triggered protests from Women’s Right’s quarters, is once again in media focus. This time, for his alleged torture on his wife. 
 Lipika Mitra, minister’s wife has now dragged in the party chief Arvind Kejriwal in the family matter. Accusing Kejriwal of being silent, Lipika has expressed he disappointment saying, “Sometime in May an incident happened; some <keyword id="6356510" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="constable">constable</keyword> of the Delhi Police or Traffic Police had a tiff with a lady. The very next day, Mr Kejriwal met her to hear her side of the story. He congratulated her for her guts. I have read that at that point of time and it was there in my mind. I was expecting him to give a fair chance to hear me out too, and then tell me whether I should still be with this man or not? I really expected it, but now am hurt.” 
 
Criticising AAP's and Bharti's stand - "issue is a private matter"--Mitra said she was hopeful of getting an audience from Kejriwal but was not seeking his "mediation". The Dwarka resident had filed serious charges against the controversial Malviya Nagar MLA Bharti last week with the Delhi Commission for Women, as per a news report in The Economic Times. 
 Repeating many of her charges at a press briefing organized by DCW <keyword id="5504" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chairperson">chairperson</keyword> <keyword id="6469596" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Barkha-Singh">Barkha Singh</keyword> at her home, Mitra also alleged that Bharti had filed fudged information about her loan details and other financial information in his election affidavit. Soon after her address, there was high drama at Singh's house, as Bharti's 67-year-old mother Manorama Rani Bharti tried to enter the house but was denied entry. 
 
Breaking down while speaking to reporters outside the gates of the residence, she said the DCW chairperson was not to be found in her office and had refused to meet her even at her residence.

Somnath Bharti’s wife wanted Kejriwal to listen to her grievance

The <keyword id="54778" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Somnath-Temple">Somnath Temple</keyword> Trust is going to invest gold, which is not in everyday use, in the <keyword id="2746707" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gold-Monetisation-Scheme">Gold Monetisation Scheme</keyword>. 
 
With this move, Somnath Temple will become the first one to do so in Gujarat. 
 After conducting meeting with Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>, who is also one of the seven trustees of the temple, Trust Secretary and trustee P K Lahiri said that the trust has nearly 35 kg of gold, which is either in the form of pure gold or ornaments. 
 
"We don't have a huge amount of gold. Majority of the gold is used for decoration on day-to-day basis in the temple. Thus out of that 35 kg of gold, we will separate pure gold which can be deposited under the scheme," said Lahiri. 
 
Apart from Somnath Temple, other temple-Dwarkadhish Temple and Ambaji Temple-haven’t shown interest in the scheme.

On Sunday, Indians woke up to yet another ban by the <keyword id="6387077" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi-government">Narendra Modi government</keyword>. As if the beef ban in Maharashtra and the Maggi ban in India weren’t enough, the government blocked 857 adult websites on the grounds of ‘morality’ and ‘decency’. 
 
The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) directed Internet service providers to block certain websites. 
 
However, the matter came to light late Saturday night when a lot of users took to Reddit and Twitter to complain against these sites being inaccessible. What aided the furore on the government trying to curb personal liberties was the fact that sketch comedy sites such as College Humour were also featured on the list of porn websites which were blocked. 
 
After the list of blocked websites started doing the rounds on Twitter on Tuesday and led to strong criticism on social media, the government did some damage control and on Tuesday lifted the blanket ban on websites which did not feature child pornographic content. 
 
Though what triggered the decision behind the ban remains uncertain, one can’t help but wonder what is really the thought process of the Indian government? 
 
When there exists glaring things standing out as a sore thumb in front of India functioning as a well-oiled machinery, which the government should ideally prioritize doing away with, it goes ahead and blocks hundreds of websites. 
 
To help the ban-friendly government decide on what should face the axe next, we at Business Insider draw up a list of six things they should have banned instead of porn websites. 
 
Mr. Prime Minister, we hope you’re reading. 
 
 
 
1. Auto-rickshaws that refuse to go by meter: In India, auto-<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-uber-launches-autorickshaw-service-in-indian-capital-2015-4?IR=T">rickshaws</a> are what the subway is to New York. The fact that we face more rejection from auto-rickshaw drivers who refuse to go to any location be it Chandni Chowk or China than our crushes doesn’t help at all. Add to that, when they do agree to extend us a favour by agreeing to ferry us to our preferred location, they loot us off all the money we possess by quoting exorbitant amounts and refusing to follow the meter. Thus, <keyword id="2986577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Dear-Government">dear government</keyword>, it’s time you ban these auto drivers who refuse to acknowledge the existence and purpose of meters in rickshaws and choose to have them as a mere ornamental piece in the museum that is the rickshaw. Our wallets will be forever indebted. 
 
 
 
 
2. Dowry: At a time when we’re proclaiming our lungs out in favour of gender equality, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/One-Man-Demanded-An-iPhone-6-As-Dowry-For-His-Sisters-Hand-In-Marriage/articleshow/42652355.cms">dowry</a> stands out as a regressive tradition that we desperately need to get rid of. In the Indian context, dowry is the transfer of parental property from the bride’s side to that of the groom’s. Or, in other words, a way of giving the groom a pedestal from where he can make any number of demands he wants. Though we do have a Dowry Prohibition Act, it’s very rarely implemented. Beloved government, are you listening 
 
 
 
3. Unpaid internships: While in college, every student dreams of landing up the perfect <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/The-15-Best-Internships-In-America/articleshow/25462909.cms">internship</a> replete with an encouraging boss, flexible work hours, immense exposure and some pocket money? However, the last criteria is almost always never met, with employers taking advantage of students by paying them close to nothing. To nurture the youth to be efficient employees of tomorrow, it is imperative companies start doing away with the concept of unpaid internships. 
 
 
 
 
4. KRK's Twitter account: It is bad enough that we cannot ban the existence of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/10-Indian-Actors-Who-Fought-IT-Out-On-Twitter/Kapil-Sharma-Vs-Kamaal-R-Khan-KRK/slideshow/42366546.cms">Kamal Rashid Khan</a> who identifies himself as Actor, Film Producer and Critic and whose films make Uday Chopra seem worthy of a National Award. Thus the least our elected government can do for us is save us from the onslaught of his terrible, thoughtless and too frequent to be true tweets which make every Indian citizen want to facepalm themselves. Repeatedly. Put this no. 1 on your list, dear government. 
 
 
 
5. Politicians who pass sexist remarks: In India, politicians do everything except what they are elected to do. They ensure that both houses of the Parliament are adjourned daily, partake in scams, get involved in fake-degree controversies and last but not the least, pass sexist comments. Just yesterday, AAP leader <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Somnath-Bhartis-wife-wanted-Kejriwal-to-listen-to-her-grievance/articleshow/47687459.cms">Somnath Bharti</a> while addressing the Assembly on women security claimed that ‘beautiful women’ would be able to go out at midnight in the capital if AAP came to power. This insulting comment is just one of the several great insights provided by ministers who seem to have acquired a Masters in Sexism and Objectification of Women. 
 
 
 
6. Bans which are enforced without any debate: Last but not the least; it’s time we keep in mind that an elected government is ‘by the people, for the people and of the people’. Thus, before enforcing any ban- be it on liquor, tobacco, Maggi or porn websites, a public debate and discourse is essential in order to hear the citizens the government is governing. It’d be a shame if India is identified as a dictatorship rather than a democracy, dear government.

Dear Government, here's what you should ban instead of porn websites

From uncrewed moon landings and lunar sample returns to human spaceflight, India’s expanding space program is set to strengthen its position in the global <keyword id="20114940" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="space-race" source="keywords">space race</keyword>. Under ISRO Chairman S. Somanath’s leadership, India’s space exploration vision includes high-stakes projects like Chandrayaan-4, Chandrayaan-5 and the human spaceflight mission Gaganyaan, positioning the nation as a significant player in space exploration. <h2>Chandrayaan-4: India’s first <keyword id="23227406" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lunar-sample-return" source="keywords">lunar sample return</keyword> mission </h2>Chandrayaan-4, scheduled for 2028, is one of India’s most anticipated upcoming missions. This mission aims to collect approximately 3 kilograms (about 6.6 pounds) of lunar samples from a water-ice-rich area near the moon’s south pole. Water ice in the lunar south pole is a prized resource, as it holds the potential to support life support systems and rocket fuel production, making it essential for long-term lunar exploration. Though the United States and Russia completed similar missions decades ago, Somanath highlighted that achieving this feat today is still both complex and costly. India, however, is determined to carry out this mission efficiently, with a budget of 21 billion rupees (roughly $250 million USD). Chandrayaan-4’s mission plan is highly intricate, relying on five spacecraft modules that will require two launches from ISRO’s powerful LVM-3 rocket. This setup includes modules for the lander, sample-collecting vehicle, transfer module, and a reentry module parked in lunar orbit to safely deliver the collected samples back to Earth. To practise in-orbit docking — a critical component of this mission — ISRO is set to launch a $14 million docking experiment (SPADEX) later this year or in early 2025, marking an essential step toward ensuring the mission's success. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="111455720" title="ISRO&amp;#39;s Chandrayaan-3 moon mission continues to uncover lunar treasures at Shiv Shakti point" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> <h2>A step beyond with Chandrayaan-5</h2>Following Chandrayaan-4, ISRO plans to launch Chandrayaan-5 in collaboration with the Japanese space agency, JAXA. The joint mission aims to leverage strengths of both space agencies, with ISRO developing the lander and JAXA providing the rover. Shortly after Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander and Pragyan rover had landed near the Moon’s South Pole, Japan’s Smart Lander had landed upside down near the lunar equator. While theC-3’s rover failed to awaken after the lunar night, JAXA’s rover did survive the lunar night and even snapped pictures of the lunar surface after that! This mission, also known as the Lunar Polar Exploration Project (LUPEX), will carry a 770-pound rover contributed by Japan, a significant upgrade from the 60-pound Pragyan rover deployed on Chandrayaan-3. Chandrayaan-5 will further strengthen India’s presence on the moon, targeting the resource-rich south pole, an area of growing international interest. The mission will come after Chandrayaan-4, but S Somnath has confirmed that the plan for the mission is ready already! <h2>Gaganyaan: India’s first human spaceflight </h2>Perhaps the most exciting of India’s upcoming space projects is Gaganyaan, a mission set to take India’s first astronauts to low Earth orbit by 2026. Originally scheduled for 2025, the timeline was extended to prioritise astronaut safety amid recent setbacks in the industry. Recognising the significance of this mission, the Indian government allocated an additional Rs 111 billion to Gaganyaan, bringing the program closer to launch. ISRO’s cautious approach includes a series of uncrewed test flights to evaluate critical systems. An uncrewed test flight, G1, is scheduled for December and will carry a humanoid robot named Vyomitra to test reentry, parachute deployment, and splashdown capabilities. Following G1, three more uncrewed missions will complete this rigorous testing phase. The mission’s crew, including Indian Air Force test pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, has been undergoing intensive training both in India and abroad, including a stint with Axiom Space at the International Space Station (ISS), where Shukla is training under former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson. Meanwhile, ISRO’s ambitious roadmap also includes future goals to land astronauts on the moon by 2040 and potentially establish a moon base before 2050. With these projects, India is set to establish itself as a formidable force in space exploration. The ISRO had earlier said the 26 kg six-wheeled rover was scheduled to descend from the lander's belly, onto the Moon's surface, using one of its side panels as a ramp. The lander (Vikram) and rover (Pragyan) -- with a total mass of 1,752 kg -- are designed to operate for one lunar daylight period (about 14 Earth days) to study the surroundings there. However, ISRO officials do not rule out the possibility of them coming to life for another lunar day. The rover will carry out in-situ chemical analysis of the lunar surface during the course of its mobility. Both the lander and the rover have scientific payloads to carry out experiments on the lunar surface. The rover would study the surface of the moon through its payloads APXS - Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer - to derive the chemical composition and infer mineralogical composition to further enhance understanding of the lunar surface. Pragyan also has another payload--Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) to determine the elemental composition of lunar soil and rocks around the lunar landing site. ISRO Chairman S Somnath had earlier said, "After powered descent (of lander) on to the landing site, there will be deployment of ramp and rover coming out. After this all the experiments will take place one after the other -- all of which have to be completed in just one day on the moon, which is 14 days."
