State-owned <keyword id="20253046" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Copper" source="keywords">Hindustan Copper</keyword> Ltd on Monday reported a two-fold rise in <keyword id="20123335" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="consolidated" source="keywords">consolidated</keyword> <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> at <keyword id="22760670" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rs-113-40-crore" source="keywords">Rs 113.40 crore</keyword> for the quarter ended June 30, 2024. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 47.28 crore in the year-ago period, Hindustan Copper said in a filing to BSE. The consolidated income of the company during the April-June period rose to Rs 500.44 crore over Rs 384.73 crore in the year-ago period, the filing said. Hindustan Copper Ltd had earlier said that it is likely to exceed its capex target of Rs 350 crore for the ongoing fiscal year. The company is continuously investing in its ongoing mine expansion plan. Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Mines. The company has facilities for the production and marketing of copper concentrate, copper cathodes, continuous-cast copper rods, and byproducts. Hindustan Copper Q1 net profit rises two-fold to ₹113.40 crore

A resolution through a postal ballot notice has been passed with requisite majority, the company said in a late night stock exchange filing on Wednesday. According to the postal ballot notice, the company will raise up to Rs 1,524.60 crore by preferential issue of up to 46.20 crore <keyword id="20035340" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-shares" source="keywords">equity shares</keyword> and/or warrants convertible into equivalent number of equity shares at a price of Rs 33 per apiece. On September 23, the board of Reliance Power Ltd had approved raising Rs 1,524.60 crore through issue of preferential shares, wherein promoters will infuse Rs 600 crore into the company to advance its business. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="79183505" title="Happy Dhanteras 2024 messages and wishes" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Reliance Infrastructure, the promoter of the company, will enhance its equity stake by over Rs 600 crore. The other investors who will participate in the preferential issue include Authum Investment and Infrastructure Ltd and Sanatan Financial Advisory Services. The fresh fund would be utilised for expansion of business operations directly and/or through investment in subsidiaries and joint ventures, debt reduction and for general corporate purposes, the company said. The preferential issue will enhance the company's net worth from about Rs 11,155 crore to over Rs 12,680 crore, it said. Reliance Power gets shareholders' nod to raise ₹1,525 crore via preferential shares

The family of an <keyword id="20246468" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agniveer" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Agniveer" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Agniveer">Agniveer</keyword> from <keyword id="19897316" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra" source="keywords">Maharashtra</keyword> who died in the line of duty last year has said they have received an assistance of <keyword id="22254620" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rs-1-08-crore" source="keywords">Rs 1.08 crore</keyword> from the <keyword id="19900449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="government" source="keywords">government</keyword>. The family's statement came after <keyword id="19953821" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Defence-Minister" source="keywords">Defence Minister</keyword> <keyword id="19911645" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh" source="keywords">Rajnath Singh</keyword> on Monday said an Agniveer who lays down his life in the line of duty gets a compensation of Rs 1 crore. Singh was speaking after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha <keyword id="19895780" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rahul-Gandhi" source="keywords">Rahul Gandhi</keyword>, while referring to the Agnipath military recruitment scheme, claimed the government regards Agniveers as "use-and-throw labourers" and does not even give them the status of a "shaheed (martyr)". Agniveer <keyword id="22254636" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="akshay-gawate" source="keywords">Akshay Gawate</keyword>, native of Pimpalgaon Sarai in Maharashtra's Buldhana district, died in the line of duty in Siachen on October 21, 2023. Speaking to reporters here on Monday evening, his father Lakshman Gawate said that after Akshay Gawate's death, the family got "Rs 48 lakh as his insurance cover, Rs 50 lakh from the central government and Rs 10 lakh from the state government." He also demanded a government job for Akshay's sister. He was reply to a question by reporters on the compensation received after his son's death. The Agnipath scheme, announced on June 14, 2022, provides for the recruitment of youths between the age bracket of 17-and-half years and 21 for only four years, with a provision to retain 25 per cent of them for 15 more years. The government extended the upper age limit to 23 years later that year.

Japanese investor <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> has pumped in about Rs 1,675 crore in fresh <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword> in Indian transportation startup <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword> to give it more muscle to take American rival Uber head-on. SoftBank subsidiary SIMI Pacific Pte picked 12,97,945 shares valued at Rs 10 at a premium of Rs 12,895 in ANI Technologies -- which runs Ola -- filings with the Registrar of Companies showed. The allotment of shares was done in November last year, it added.

The latest funding, however, is believed to have come at a lower valuation. According to sources, the move comes at a time when Softbank is working on selling <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, an e-commerce platform it invested heavily in India, to larger rival Flipkart. The Bengaluru-based firm was aggressively looking at raising funds to compete with Uber, the world's most valuable start-up. After selling its Chinese business to Didi last year, Uber has now set sights on India making it one of its top priorities.

SoftBank pumps in Rs 1,675 crore in Ola

<keyword id="45016" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Dehradun">DEHRADUN</keyword>: Be careful about what new friends promise you on <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword>. A woman was lured into parting with Rs 1.30 crore by a "friend" she had made on Facebook after he assured her a sum of $1.5 million (about Rs 9 crore) to open an old-age home in Dehradun. 
 
The victim, Beena Bor Thankur, a resident of Ram Vihar, was first asked to "clear a tax" to get the amount though. Falling into the trap, she deposited Rs 1.3 crore in various bank accounts only to realize soon after that she had been fooled. 
 According to the police complaint, Thakur, wife of an ONGC employee, came into contact with a man who identified himself as <keyword id="219542" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Richard-Anderson">Richard Anderson</keyword> through Facebook in November last year. The two soon began chatting over phone as well. 
 "In the telephonic conversations, Anderson told Beena that he wanted to help the people of India and came up with several proposals to that end. He also sought suggestions from her. Following that, he assured her that he would provide Rs 9 crore for the oldage home," Ajay Rautela, SSP, Dehradun, said. A few days later, Thakur received a call in which the caller claimed he was from the <keyword id="6368276" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Foreign-exchange">foreign exchange</keyword> branch of Reserve <keyword id="6355303" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bank-of-India">Bank of India</keyword>. He told Thakur she could claim the amount by paying the tax due on it," Rautela added. 
 
Thakur deposited the money in various branches and later received calls from two persons who called themselves William George and Kevin Brown, asking her for more money. In total, she deposited Rs 1.30 crore in 25 accounts. 
 A case under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC has now been registered against Anderson, George, Brown and one more person. <keyword id="6671814" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="station-officer">Station officer</keyword> VK Jheta said that efforts are on to trace details of the bank accounts in which the money had been deposited. "Most of these accounts are from South India, that is, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka," he added.

Woman Duped Of Rs 1.3 Crore By Facebook 'Friend'

<keyword id="6377011" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Essar-Oil">Essar Oil</keyword> reported its highest ever quarterly profit of Rs 1,063 Crores in April-June as strong <keyword id="6394038" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="refinery">refinery</keyword> margins boost revenues by around 54%. The company posted a net profit of Rs 1,063 Crores in April-June as opposed to Rs 691 Crores in the same period of the last fiscal. 
 
The company operates a 20 million tons a year refinery at Vadinar in Gujarat, and earned $11.05 for refining each barrel as opposed to $9.04 last fiscal.

Essar Oil posts record Rs 1,063 Crores Q1 profit

Founder <keyword id="20198157" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ritesh-Agarwal" source="keywords">Ritesh Agarwal</keyword> has invested Rs 830 crore through his Singapore-based entity Patient Capital in <keyword id="19901637" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO" source="keywords">OYO</keyword>'s latest <keyword id="20080855" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="funding-round" source="keywords">funding round</keyword> -- wherein the <keyword id="21745043" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="travel-tech-platform" source="keywords">travel tech platform</keyword> raised Rs 1,457 crore, sources said. Post the equity dilution in the <keyword id="22756111" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Series-G-funding" source="keywords">Series G funding</keyword>, Agarwal's holdings will increase from 29.97 per cent earlier, to 32.57 per cent post the investment, sources told PTI. According to sources close to the transaction, "Ritesh has invested to protect his ownership dilution in OYO as well as a signal of confidence in the company's prospects. The investment is backed by Singapore-based family offices." <keyword id="20517346" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oravel-Stays-Ltd" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Oravel Stays Ltd" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Oravel Stays Ltd">Oravel Stays Ltd</keyword>, the parent company of OYO, has raised Rs 1,457 crore from a consortium of investors in the latest funding round. The additional equity issuance was approved by 99.99 per cent shareholders in an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on August 8. The additional fundraise values the company at USD 2.4 billion, as the first Series G tranche issued to InCred in July. The investment is being made through Compulsory Convertible Cumulative Preference Shares, each priced at Rs 29, consistent with the valuation of the recent raise in Series G. The capital will be used to support OYO's growth and its global expansion plans, sources said.

Founder Ritesh Agarwal invests Rs 830 crore in OYO's latest funding round; Platform raises Rs 1,457 crore

New Delhi, Jan 21 () Engineering giant Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) on Tuesday said it will raise up to Rs 1,000 crore through issuance of non-convertible debentures.
"... the Company proposes to issue Rated, Listed, Unsecured, Redeemable Non-Convertible Debentures aggregating up to Rs 1,000 crore, on private placement basis," Larsen &amp; Toubro said in a regulatory filing to the BSE.

The year 2023 has witnessed huge <keyword id="6355120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment" source="Orion">investment</keyword> by FPIs thanks to the sharp uptick in flows in December, says V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit <keyword id="6354241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-services" source="Orion">Financial Services</keyword>. <keyword id="725142" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fpi" source="Orion">FPI</keyword> inflows which were negative in the previous 3 months have sharply turned positive in December with total buying of Rs Rs 66134 crores. This figure includes the buying through stock exchanges and investment in the primary market. The total FPI inflows in 2023 stand at Rs 171106 crores, he said. The steady decline in <keyword id="476164" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="us-bond-yields" source="Orion">US bond yields</keyword> has caused this sudden change in the strategy of FPIs. In December, FPIs were big buyers in financial services which explains the resilience of this segment in December. FPIs also bought in sectors like <keyword id="6425437" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="autos" source="Orion">autos</keyword>, <keyword id="81793" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="capital-goods" source="Orion">capital goods</keyword> and telecom. Since 2024 is expected to witness further declines in U.S. interest rates, FPIs are likely to increase their purchases in 2024 too, particularly in the early months of 2024 in the run up to the General elections, he said.

Huge investments by FPIs in 2023 at Rs 1.71 lakh crore

India’s <keyword id="6366153" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Defence-Minister">defence minister</keyword> <keyword id="6363133" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Manohar-Parrikar">Manohar Parrikar</keyword> is going to hold a high-powered Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) this Saturday, in which he would discuss projects that he is considering, said to be worth over Rs 1 lakh crore. These projects include critical purchases like armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), an advanced air defence system, carbines for the Army and a range of vessels for the Navy. 
 
 As per <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/defence/rs-1-lakh-crore-defence-purchases-on-manohar-parrikars-mind/articleshow/52875093.cms">ET</a> sources, the Saturday meeting would decide the fate of several of these projects, some of which have been pending for years now, because of differences within the ministry. 
 The proposal to acquire a new fleet of armed drone for the <keyword id="15141" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword>, which will help IAF increase its opportunity for disciplinary cross-border action in response to terror, is on the topmost priority. Last year, there were talks of a $400 million proposal for acquiring armed Heron TP drones from Israel, but nothing has been officiated as of yet. Now, India might also buy US-made Predator armed drones since it has got entry into the Missile Technology Control Regime. 
 
Another plan for IAF acquisition involves $6.1-billion purchase of S 400 air defence system from Russia, which could be a game-changer for the region, since S 400 has a range of over 300 km, along with an ability to target aircrafts that are flying deep in enemy territory. China is also procuring the same aircrafts. 
 
Other than this, IAF is also expected to appeal to acquire the Indo-Israeli long-range surface-to-air missile, along with the long-pending proposal to equip two Boeing 777 VVIP aircrafts, which are being transferred from Air India with missile avoidance systems. 
 Talking of <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword>, there are chances that the $700-million plan to purchase 145 M777 ultra-light howitzers, which is to be done as per a foreign military sales deal with the US, pending since January 2016, could have some light thrown on it. 
 
There is one more Army plan, to replace its long-retired short-range 44,600 carbines, which is pending since 2010. Along with that, long-running 'short-range surface-to-air missile' project of the Army could also be taken a decision on, which aims to buy an agile missile shield for forward moving forces. 
 
Navy, on the other hand, has a range of vessels that are soon going to expire, so replacing them could be discussed in the meeting. These include six new-generation missile vessels and a new range of fleet support vessels.
