According to <keyword id="7255265" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ronojoy-dutta" source="Orion">Ronojoy Dutta</keyword>, Wholetime Director and CEO of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s largest airline in terms of market share said: "My hopes for the festive season are very bullish and I think we will have a very good holiday season." Traditionally, the festive season in India ushers in higher air traffic growth. This year it will commence from October and last till mid-November. "I project by December we will be back to pre-Covid levels domestically." "As of now we are still way below pre-Covid numbers. In pre-Covid times, we used to do about 1,500 departures a day. Though it has recovered to 1,100 now, we are still below the pre-Coid level." In terms of capacity utilisation norms, Dutta said the company is in touch with the Centre to get 100 per cent domestic capacity soon. "I think, we will get 100 per cent soon and even the permission to re-start international operations." "By July of next year we should have recovered to pre-Covid levels internationally as well." At present, the Centre has allowed airlines to deploy limited domestic operational capacity up to 85 per cent. Furthermore, he said that pent-up demand has now become more sustained and predictable which is expect to drive growth. "Last year there were no flights for a period, as a result there was a huge pent up demand, but that's slowly petered out." "Now, I don't think this is pent up demand, but a gradual increase in demand." On the pandemic's progression, Dutta cited the current conditions are stable but cautioned against an element of uncertainty surrounding new variants. "If you look around the world, this Delta variant has clearly created a havoc in many countries. In someways, we are ahead of everyone else because we were hit first. So the havoc that they are seeing in other countries, we already experienced that in May. So to some extent, I think it is behind us." "For now things look reasonably stable." Currently, the company has a fleet of over 270 aircraft. It operates around 1,100 flights per day connecting 70 domestic and 24 international destinations. IndiGo bullish on festive season, may see demand reach pre-COVID levels in December

InterGlobe Aviation, parent of the country's largest airline <keyword id="6354706" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IndiGo">IndiGo</keyword>, on Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs 3,174 crore for the three months to June, primarily due to a sharp <keyword id="6354942" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="decline">decline</keyword> in revenues amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.The airline, which had a fleet of 277 planes at the end of June 2021, incurred a net loss of Rs 2,844 crore in the year-ago period. The carrier's consolidated total income increased by 177.2 per cent to Rs 3,170 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal, it said in a statement. The total income stood at Rs 1,143 crore in the first quarter of the previous financial year. The airline's total expenses increased by 59.2 per cent to Rs 6,344 crore in Q1 of 2021-22, compared to Rs 3,986 crore earlier. The company's CEO <keyword id="7255265" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ronojoy-Dutta">Ronojoy Dutta</keyword> said, "Our financial results for the first quarter were severely impacted by the second Covid wave. The number of passengers traveling declined sharply in the months of May and June." With the second wave receding, IndiGo is seeing a measured recovery in bookings for July and August, he added. "Notwithstanding the industry's present challenges, we remain firmly optimistic about IndiGo's future. Our entire focus during this pandemic has been to manage our cash balances, run a high- quality airline and to continue to build our capabilities and be prepared for the post Covid environment," he stated. The carrier had reported a net loss of Rs 1,147 crore in the last quarter of 2020-21. The airline operated a peak of 1,262 daily flights and a minimum of 318 flights during the first quarter of FY22, including non-scheduled flights, the statement said. IndiGo's loss widens to ₹3,174 crore as number of passengers 'declined sharply' in May and June

New Delhi, Jan 27 () InterGlobe Aviation, parent of the country's largest airline IndiGo, on Monday announced redesignating Ronojoy Dutta as the company's whole-time director and CEO.
 Dutta, who is currently the CEO, has been redesignated with immediate effect and his term in the new role would be valid till January 23, 2024, according to a release.
 "The decision was taken unanimously by the board of directors of the company at its meeting held today (Monday)," it added.
 Dutta has been associated with the company as CEO since January 24, 2019.
 "During his year-long stint with the company, IndiGo has witnessed aggressive operational and business expansion.
 "Dutta's extensive experience in the aviation industry channelled IndiGo's efforts into a mission to boost economic growth and social cohesion in India, by providing air connectivity and affordable air fares across our country and to international destinations, thereby promoting trade, tourism and mobility," the release said.
 He had also served as an advisor to the restructuring of Air Canada, US Airways and Hawaiian Air. Besides, he had been the president of Air Sahara and the United Airlines.

"Strong passenger revenues along with a sharp improvement in cargo performance were key drivers to this improved profitability. We are particularly pleased with this quarter because it demonstrated our ability to grow rapidly while simultaneously expanding our margin performance," the company's CEO, Ronojoy Dutta said. In a conference call with analysts, the management highlighted that its efforts in managing its fleet and routes led to a fall in fuel cost of 11% during the quarter whereas the actual fall in jet fuel was much lesser. "Going forward, obviously, this quarter the aircraft utilisation was a little lower due to some temporary issues. As that improves there will be some tailwinds in terms of fixed costs," Rohit Philip, the chief financial officer of IndiGo said. Sales jumped 42% to ₹9,420 crore and market share has steadily risen since rival Jet Airways went bankrupt and stopped flying. This has helped all airlines charge higher airfares while costs came down, helping their profits. However, Chief Executive Officer Ronojoy Dutta dismissed any significant benefit from the disappearnce of Jet Airways on the company's performance. IndiGo only got 35 slots vacated by Jet in the Mumbai airport and that's a small portion of the total 1400 slots IndiGo has. For fiscal year 2020, year over year capacity increase in available seat per kilometre is expected to be 30%, the company said in a presentation. New Delhi, <keyword id="6354706" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IndiGo">IndiGo</keyword> on Wednesday said it has reached 70% of its pre-COVID capacity and is operating 1,000 daily international and <keyword id="6391001" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="domestic-flights">domestic flights</keyword>. India resumed domestic passenger flights on May 25 after a gap of two months due to the coronavirus-triggered lockdown. At the time of resumption, the government had allowed airlines to operate not more than 33% of their pre-COVID domestic flights. In the subsequent months, this limit was gradually increased and it currently stands at 70%. Ronojoy Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo said, "We are currently operating at around 70% of our pre-COVID capacity and we hope that the growth will continue into 2021." "From zero domestic and <keyword id="426378" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="international-operations">international operations</keyword> to now operating 1,000 scheduled <keyword id="148415" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="commercial-flights">commercial flights</keyword> daily, we have indeed come a long way since we resumed operations post the lockdown," he said in a statement. IndiGo reaches 70%  of its pre-COVID capacity, operating 1,000 daily flights

New Delhi, Jan 27 () InterGlobe Aviation on Monday reported a steep rise in profit after tax at Rs 496 crore in the three months ended December 2019, mainly helped by higher income.
 The parent of the country's largest airline IndiGo had a profit after tax of Rs 185.2 crore in the year-ago period, according to a regulatory filing.
 Its total income climbed to Rs 10,330.2 crore in the latest December quarter from Rs 8,229.3 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
 "I am enthusiastic about the way we have been developing our network, connecting cities, large and small, to provide more choice to our customers," IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said.
 At the end of the December quarter, the airline had a fleet of 257 planes. RAM IAS HRS

InterGlobe Aviation Q3 profit soars to Rs 496 cr

By Deepak Patel New Delhi, Mar 25 () As the coronavirus pandemic has drastically impacted revenues of the aviation sector, GoAir CEO Vinay Dube stated on Wednesday that all employees will be taking a pay cut in March. During the last few weeks, GoAir has already taken some cost cutting measures -- it has laid off its expat pilots, asked its employees to go on leave without pay on a rotational basis, and announced that its top leadership would be taking a pay cut of up to 50 per cent. Dube told employees in an official communication, "Under the current conditions we find ourselves in we are left with no choice but to extend salary cuts for all of us for the month of March. We will ensure that the lowest pay grades suffer the least." India has banned international commercial passenger flights for a period of one week from Sunday. Moreover, domestic flights have also been suspended from Tuesday midnight. Last week, IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta stated that the senior employees of the low-cost carrier will have a pay cut of up to 25 per cent. Air India also announced that the pandemic has caused "insurmountable dip" in revenues and therefore, it is reducing the allowances of all employees - except cabin crew - by 10 per cent for the next three months.
