If the medium of dissemination is evolving real-time, how can the source of information stagnate to the age-old textual media? 2022 will see press releases going through an irreversible change wherein traditional releases will coexist with new age ones like ready-to-use AVs, infographics et cetera. Exciting times ahead! 4) ESG comes to the fore 2021 has laid the foundation stones for Environment, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) to come to the fore in 2022. COP26 at Glasgow, BRSR (business responsibility and sustainability report) becoming mandatory for Top 1000 listed Indian companies during FY2022-23 and pop culture conversations (read: Netflix original Don’t Look Up) gaining steam are early indicators of pink papers having dedicated sections for ESG alongside stocks, startups and crypto later this year. 5) Technological intelligence vs human consciousness There’s an exponentially accelerating conversation on technology intervention disrupting human efforts across 'intelligence business'. While the inevitable is fast approaching, human consciousness will edge over technological intelligence in the long run. 2022 shall act as a stepping stone towards identifying and honing 'human consciousness' as an important skill. It’s definitely a scary thought, isn’t it? Well, serial entrepreneur and founder of a billion dollar edtech company Ronnie <keyword id="652420" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="screwvala" source="Orion">Screwvala</keyword> has a slightly different take on it. In a conversation with Business Insider during its Future of Work event, Screwvala noted that the world is in the fourth era of industrial revolution and many things are bound to change. However, he is of the opinion that saying that “bots are going to replace the workforce is rather a simplistic way of seeing things”. Ashutosh Garg, founder and chief executive (CEO) of artificial intelligence-powered talent management company eightfold.ai, also attended Business Insider’s Future of Work event. He noted that there are multiple aspects to saying whether automation is going to replace humans in their jobs. The first of those aspects is whether artificial intelligence (AI) is ready for it. According to Garg, AI is not developed enough to be at that stage, however it has the potential of getting there in the future. Again, some jobs may have to work in alignment with this deeptech technology. “I can put it on autopilot and be feasibly comfortable. So things are improving a lot. Now let's take sales as an example. I'm trying to hire a salesperson, I will start evaluating this person based on their emotional touch. Are they going to be able to close the deal or not, can they negotiate with the buyer or not?” he noted. According to a PwC <a href="https://www.pwc.com/hu/hu/kiadvanyok/assets/pdf/impact_of_automation_on_jobs.pdf">report </a>which estimates that 40% of jobs can be automated in the next 15 years, digital and softer skills are going to be the demand of the new age businesses. In 2017, <a href="https://www.deakinco.com/uploads/Whitepaper/deloitte-au-economics-deakin-soft-skills-business-success-170517.pdf">Deloitte</a> also reported that "soft skill-intensive occupations will account for two-thirds of all jobs by 2030." According to a<a href="https://www.muchskills.com/blog/soft-skills-skills-of-the-future"> blogpost </a>by Sweden-based HR-tech platform MuchSkills, the new age technologies — like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) or robotics — can automate a number of human tasks, they will not be able to replicate emotional, social and cognitive skills imbibed by humans. “Between 1980 and 2012, jobs requiring high levels of social interaction grew by nearly 12 percentage points as a share of the US labour force. Math-intensive but less social jobs – including many STEM occupations – shrank by 3.3 percentage points over the same period,” wrote David J Deming in a paper titled<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/ddeming/files/deming_socialskills_may2017_final.pdf"> The Growing Importance Of Social Skills In The Labor Market</a>. Future of Work 2021: The only way to beat the bots from taking your job is to be more human

Global online higher education provider <keyword id="2008319" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Upgrad">upGrad</keyword> on Monday became another unicorn from the country, after it announced to close a total of $185 million funding round at a market valuation of $1.2 billion. The company raised fresh funds from Temasek, IFC (International Finance Corporation, a sister organisation of <keyword id="6354424" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-bank">World Bank</keyword>) and IIFL. "We are very focused on our path to being in the top three-five companies globally in edtech and serving the one billion workforce across the age group of 18-60. We are pleased with the investor interest ever since we opened up for a fundraise, and had our maiden raise from Temasek, followed by IFC and IIFL in the last 60 days," said <keyword id="25725" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ronnie-Screwvala">Ronnie Screwvala</keyword>, Chairperson and Co-founder, upGrad. In April, UpGrad had raised $120 million from Temasek, a global investment company headquartered in Singapore. "We will announce further updates on M&amp;As, and unlocking value as they unfold. Yes, the last value was at $1.2 billion but as I keep saying, we are not a fan of the tag name, unicorn. For us, it is only a means to a much larger goal," he said in a statement. Recent reports suggested that company is in advanced talks for a $400 million fundraise at a valuation of $4 billion. upGrad has earmarked $250 million for mergers and acquisitions (M&amp;As) over the next seven-nine months, as it strengthens non-linear growth strategy. upGrad is set to cross $500 million annual revenue run rate by March 2022 and is looking to raise close to $400 million at a $4 billion valuation. upGrad has built out a strong tech platform and deep immersive learning experience with high touch-points to capture close to 70 per cent of the Indian higher education market for working professionals. Earlier this month, upGrad acquired global firm <keyword id="9947964" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="KnowledgeHut">KnowledgeHut</keyword> for an undisclosed sum. KnowledgeHut, an <keyword id="11781040" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="upgrad-company">upGrad Company</keyword>, expects to cross Rs 300 crore in revenue next year, 65 per cent of which will be from countries across North America, Middle East and South-East Asia. Online higher education platform upGrad to hire 1,000 people in India in next three months from more than 100 campuses

Online higher education company <keyword id="2008319" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Upgrad">upGrad</keyword> on Monday announced it has acquired video-enabled learning <keyword id="11309728" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="solutions-provider-impartus">solutions provider Impartus</keyword>, committing over ₹150 crore towards the buyout as well as to boost its growth. Impartus, now a 100 per cent subsidiary of upGrad, has been rebranded as 'upGrad Campus'. 'upGrad Campus' will target higher education institutions and college students, with its learning tools and world-class content, in an integrated solution, the company said in a statement, aiming to close the <keyword id="44623" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Financial-Year">financial year</keyword> 2022 with nearly ₹85 crore revenue. "The synergy of Impartus and upGrad will pave the way for augmenting college education by helping learners upskill with new-age courses, thus elevating their candidature for better career prospects," said Amit Mahensaria, CEO, upGrad Campus.
