New Delhi, Feb 24 () Drug firm Unichem Laboratories on Monday said the US health regulator has completed inspection of its Roha facility in Maharashtra without any observation. The United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) conducted inspection at the company's active pharmaceutical ingredients (APls) manufacturing unit at Roha from February 17 to 21, 2020, Unichem Laboratories said in a BSE filing. "The inspection was a routine cGMP surveillance and successfully concluded without any FDA form 483 issued," it added. As per the USFDA, Form 483 is issued to firm management at the conclusion of an inspection when investigators have observed any conditions that in their judgement may constitute violations of the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and related Acts. Shares of Unichem Laboratories closed at Rs 148.20 per scrip on the BSE, up 8.45 per cent from its previous close. AKT SHWSHW

Chugging Out To Sea: Five Coast-hugging Train Rides Along Indian Shores

Tech giant <keyword id="6354427" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="apple" source="Orion">Apple</keyword> on Friday announced a new initiative to support improved water, sanitation and hygiene outcomes in India. In partnership with environmental <keyword id="6366591" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ngo" source="Orion">NGO</keyword> <keyword id="1015863" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="frank-water" source="Orion">Frank Water</keyword>, Apple is supporting the development of an innovative, scalable approach that strengthens local water management and decision making, and expands equitable access to water quality data. "Some of the most powerful solutions to climate change and the global water crisis come from the communities living every day with these challenges," said Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives. "By supporting innovative, community-based approaches in India and around the world, Apple is making progress toward our global climate goals while doing our part to help people improve their lives," she added. Beginning with a pilot in Anekal taluk on the outskirts of <keyword id="6354321" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bengaluru" source="Orion">Bengaluru</keyword>, Frank Water is surveying households and analysing multiple data sources to map how water is used in the area. The organisation uses hydrological modeling and is developing a state-of-the-art decision support process, which puts tools in the hands of the community. Together, Apple, Frank Water, and local partners aim to use the enhanced data and expanded partnerships to demonstrate how collective water stewardship, working alongside businesses, can be a model to replicate across India and beyond. Apple also continues to work with the Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF) to preserve mangroves along India's coast. Mangroves are an especially powerful nature-based solution for carbon removal, with the capacity to store up to 10 times more carbon per acre than terrestrial forests. Since the partnership launched in 2021, local villagers signed conservation agreements that helped over 200 marginal fishing community members across Roha, Pen, and Alibaug blocks in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Under the agreements, village members receive sustained support in exchange for conserving privately owned mangrove forests. This effort is helping to transition the local economy while preserving the mangroves, keeping them intact and healthy, said Apple. In India, Apple also works with the Barefoot College, which trains rural women to become solar engineers in their communities. Devastating pictures show how Cyclone Nisarga wreaked havoc in Alibaug, Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra

Mumbai, Mar 1 () Indian Oil Corporation, equity partner in the proposed mega West coast refinery, has held many rounds of talks with the new Maharashtra government and is hopeful of the project coming on-stream, a top company official said. The statement from Indian Oil Chairman Sanjiv Singh comes amidst local media reports that people in the Nanar region, where the USD 60 billion-plus project was originally planned and then shelved following opposition from the Shiv Sena when it was part of the previous BJP government, are demanding the refinery come up in their area now. Shiv Sena leader and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has shelved many large projects announced by the last BJP-Sena government. Thackeray has put on hold Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet bullet train project, and has also not given the go-ahead for the world's first Hyperloop project that seeks to connect Mumbai with Pune and reduce travel time to flat 20 minutes from over 3 hours now. Following the objection by the Sena, the last Devendra Fadnavis government had proposed an alternative location for the refinery at Roha, off the east coast of the megapolis. "As we are on course to finalise the technical configuration for the refinery (both Engineers India Ltd and American engineering consultancy Jacobs have submitted their final proposals), we are also engaging the state in the right earnest. We met them a number of times since December and we are confident that the project will go ahead," Singh told reporters over the weekend. On the finalisation of the configuration for the project, he said from over 100 configurations it is down to a couple of them now. However, Singh was quick to add that unless there is finality on the location, the company cannot go ahead as identifying the land is crucial, considering it needs around 15,000 acres. "Barring this, we are really in advanced stage of moving ahead," he said and emphasised that he is very positive about the project. A joint venture company called Ratnagiri Refinery has been set up, with IOC as the single largest domestic shareholder along with HPCL and BPCL which have marginal stakes, while Saudi Aramco has picked up 51 per cent along with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. Meanwhile, Singh also said of the 35,000 new petrol pumps announced by IOC last year, as many as 11,000 are operational now. On whether IOC, which controls more than half of the fuel market in the country, will be interested in taking over the state-run BPCL which government is keen to exit, Singh said, "Let's see. IOC says Maha govt positive about Ratnagiri refinery

Ahead of the 2015 <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=United+Nations+Climate+Change+conference+in+Paris">United Nations Climate Change conference in Paris</a>, India plans to stand by its idea of installing solar panels to provide power supply to around 300 million Indians who don’t have access to electricity. 
 
As part of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=clean+energy">Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clean energy initiative</a>, the government now plans to install solar panels in the north Indian desserts – their trump card at the forthcoming climate change talks in Paris. 
 
India, however, is under pressure to cut carbon emissions after betting big on highly polluting coal for years now. The meet, aimed at forging a global climate pact, will be held in Paris from November 30th, 2015 till December 11th, 2015. 
 
However, the world’s third largest emitter demands that the burden should lie with the countries with developed industrialization. 
 In a move to cut down the number of blackouts, the <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> government is banking on the solar capacity, which the government plans to increase fivefold. Not just this, the Centre is also planning to hike the <keyword id="34553" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="renewable-energy">renewable energy</keyword> targets. 
 
The solar plan also comes into light as India boosts coal production to meet its growing needs, ignoring calls to slash its dependence on fossil fuels. 
In India, the northern desert of Rajasthan, with ample amount of sunshine through out the year, has become the heart of Modi’s renewable and solar energy plans. 
 
"Solar gives you a steady income, steady return. Here the main raw material is the sun," says Ramakant Tibrewala, chairman of Roha Dyechem, a local food colours manufacturer which has also joined the solar bandwagon. 
 
Along with an investment of Rs 800 million ($12 million), Tibrewala has built 67 glistening rows of panels in a Rajasthan solar park. He, then, partnered with other local companies and expanded the solar park to over 10,000 hectares (25,000 acres). 
 Not just the domestic firms, but foreign companies too are making their way to India with plans to invest in the field. Japan's SoftBank, the US-based SunEdison and Chinese giant <keyword id="762988" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trina-Solar">Trina Solar</keyword> have all pledged investments in the field, keeping in mind the rising customer demand and falling costs of manufacturing panels. 
 But the government needs enough fundings to reach its goal of generating 100,000 megawatts of <keyword id="70990" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Solar-power">solar power</keyword> by 2022, while currently it is producing 20,000 megawatts of solar energy. 
 Modi, a <keyword id="60895" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Green-energy">green energy</keyword> enthusiast who helped create solar parks in his home state of Gujarat, has called for $100 billion investment. Even his government has pledged to smooth the path in a country that is known for its infuriating levels of red tapism as well as providing tax breaks and other incentives for interested companies. 
 
"We do need money," said Upendra Tripathy, a top official in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. 
 
Tripathy denied that the government was under international pressure to transform its energy sector. He infact said that the "whole world" was impressed by India's ambitions.

MUMBAI: Sajjan Jindal-led <keyword id="45609" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JSW-Steel">JSW Steel</keyword> has entered into a definitive agreement with <keyword id="2478848" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Welspun-Enterprise">Welspun Enterprise</keyword> (WEL), to acquire the entire equity shares held by the latter in Welspun Maxsteel (<keyword id="2478982" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="WMSL">WMSL</keyword>) for an enterprise value of Rs 1,000 crore plus net current assets as of August 31. The move is aimed at achieving the strategic goal to enhance its steel production to 40 MTPA in the next decade from 14.3 MTPA now. The agreement is subject to the relevant regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. 
 
WMSL has an installed capacity of 0.9 MTPA gas-based DRI plant, with a captive jetty and a captive railway siding and the steel unit is situated in close proximity to JSW’s Dolvi unit, offering complimentary infrastructure and location to augment the current envisaged expansions at Dolvi. “In line with this objective, JSW wishes to acquire the equity shares of WMSL,” said the company in a statement on Monday evening. 
 
Seshagiri Rao, joint MD &amp; group CFO, JSW Steel, said, “This acquisition is value-accretive to JSW Steel due to synergies in supplying surplus pellets to Welspun MaxSteel and use of DRI from WMSL in company’s steel-making operations at Dolvi plant.” 
 
DRI plant is located in Salav village in Raigad district of Maharashtra. The captive jetty has an existing capacity of 2.5 MTPA, which is located at 1.8 km from the plant, while the captive railway siding is located at Roha junction on national Konkan Railway, 35 km from the DRI plant. WMSL also has vacant land of approx. 480 acres, available for future expansions. 
 
The company has surplus pellets in its subsidiary Amba River Coke which will be supplied to WMSL. The cost of production in WMSL is expected to come down due to replacement of significant portion of its bought-out pellets with captive pellets. The DRI produced by WMSL shall initially be used partly by the company’s Dolvi unit, and would be consumed in the entirety post completion of its ongoing expansion to 5 MTPA. 
 <keyword id="85953" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ernst-Young">Ernst &amp; Young</keyword> and Luthra &amp; Luthra carried out financial and legal due diligence, respectively, for JSW Steel. 
 
WEL identified WMSL as one of its non-core businesses. So it decided to exit the same. Also, the plant was running below its capacity due to irregular supply of natural gas from contracted suppliers, said WEL in a statement, adding that the transaction will strengthen company’s capabilities by synergizing all resources and reduce net debt liabilities considerably. 
 
JSW Steel shares closed up marginally at Rs 1,277 while shares of WEL closed down 5% at Rs 257 in a firm Mumbai market on Monday. The deal was announced after the closure of market hours on Monday.

Tiruchirappalli, also known as Trichy, is on the smart city list. Located 322 km south of Chennai and 379 km north of Kanyakumari, it is the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the state. 
 
The city was ranked second cleanest city, according to recent Swachh Bharat Abhiyan survey. 
 
Trichy is a major engineering equipment manufacturing and fabrication hub. Industrial units such as Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Golden Rock Railway Workshop and Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli (OFT) have factories here. This has lead to significant rise in employment opportunities. 
 
The city is well connected with government owned buses and auto-rickshaws. Trichy is located in close proximity to two prominent National Highways, NH 45 and NH-67. The Railway Heritage centre was inaugurated in 2014 and International airport is only five km away from the main city. The city has various reputed educational institutes like Indian Institute of Management, National Institute of Technology amongst others. Buying land or second home in the city or at the outskirts will be beneficial because of the infrastructural growth in and around the city. 
 
All in all, adding these destinations in your investment portfolio can be a wise decision. Apart from selecting the right location, it is equally important to choose a well reputed developer.
