Shares of Anil Ambani-led group firms -- <keyword id="20367971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-home-finance" source="keywords">Reliance Home Finance</keyword> Ltd, <keyword id="6360089" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Power" source="Orion">Reliance Power</keyword> and <keyword id="46907" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Communications" source="Orion">Reliance Communications</keyword> -- hit their <keyword id="10112182" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lower-circuit-limits" source="Orion">lower circuit limits</keyword> on Monday as investors continued to desert the counters after markets regulator <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sebi" source="keywords">Sebi</keyword> barred the industrialist and 24 others from the securities market for five years on charges of diversion of funds from <keyword id="19936674" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance" source="keywords">Reliance</keyword> Home Finance Ltd. The stock of Reliance Power dropped 4.99 per cent to hit the lower circuit limit of Rs 32.73 on the BSE. Shares of Reliance Home Finance Ltd tumbled 4.93 per cent to Rs 4.24 -- the lowest trading permissible limit for the day. Reliance Communications dived 4.92 per cent to touch the lower circuit of Rs 2.32. Reliance Infrastructure also declined 2.90 per cent to Rs 205.55. Shares of Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Home Finance and Reliance Power had slumped on Friday also. Sebi has imposed a penalty of Rs 25 crore on Ambani and restrained him from serving as a director or Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) in any listed company or Sebi-registered entity for five years. Besides, a fine ranging Rs 21 crore to Rs 25 crore has been levied on 24 entities. Also, the regulator barred Reliance Home Finance from the securities market for six months and slapped a fine of Rs 6 lakh on it. After receiving multiple complaints alleging the diversion/siphoning of funds of Reliance Home Finance Ltd, Sebi conducted an investigation for the period of FY 2018-19 to ascertain any regulatory violations. In its probe, Sebi found that <keyword id="19902194" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anil-Ambani" source="keywords">Anil Ambani</keyword>, with the help of RHFL's KMPs -- Amit Bapna, Ravindra Sudhalkar and Pinkesh R Shah -- have orchestrated a fraudulent scheme to "siphon off" funds from RHFL by disguising them as loans to entities linked to him. Although the board of directors of RHFL had issued strong directives to stop such lending practices and review corporate loans regularly, the company's management ignored these orders. Sebi, in its 222-page order on Thursday, noted the cavalier approach by the company's management and promoter in approving loans worth hundreds of crores to companies that had little to no assets, cash flow, net worth, or revenue. This suggests a sinister objective behind the 'loans'. The situation becomes even more suspicious when considering that many of these borrowers were closely linked to the promoters of RHFL. Eventually, most of these borrowers failed to repay their loans, causing RHFL to default on its own debt obligations. This led to the company's resolution under the RBI Framework, leaving its public shareholders in a difficult position.

Reliance Home Finance, Reliance Power shares hit lower circuit limits

The stock of <keyword id="19896380" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries" source="keywords">Reliance Industries</keyword> Ltd climbed nearly 3 per cent during the late afternoon trade on Thursday following the announcement that the company's board will consider issuing 1:1 bonus shares on September 5. Shares of the firm jumped 2.63 per cent to Rs 3,074.80 on the BSE as soon as the announcement came in. At the NSE, the bellwether stock climbed 2.58 per cent to Rs 3,074. The company's market valuation also surged Rs 42,399.24 crore to Rs 20,60,461.42 crore. <keyword id="10926" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance" source="Orion">Reliance</keyword>, the nation's most valuable company, had last issued bonus shares in September 2017. "A meeting of the Board of Directors of the company is scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, to consider and recommend to the shareholders for their approval, issue of bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 to the equity shareholders of the company by capitalisation of reserves," the firm said in the stock exchange filing. Prior to the 1:1 bonus issue in 2017, Reliance had in 2009 issued 1:1 bonus share.

Axis (down by 1.95%), ICICI (down by 1.86%), Kotak (down by 1.51%), and IndusInd Bank (down by 1.48%), along with Bharti Airtel (down by 1.82%), lost significant ground during the day. Out of the 2,758 stocks traded during the day, 1,495 saw advances, while 1,180 saw declines. Prices of 128 stocks hit their 52-week high, while 18 stocks hit their 52-week low. Mr. Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd., notes that the markets traded within a narrow range throughout the day, closing nearly unchanged after a recent surge. 'Initially positive, the session saw profit-taking in key heavyweights that offset early gains, resulting in the Nifty settling around 24,009.30 levels, down by 0.15%. Despite this, sectors like <keyword id="6357014" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="energy" source="Orion">energy</keyword>, <keyword id="19933821" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pharma" source="keywords">pharma</keyword>, and metal ended in positive territory, contributing to gains of around 0.5%–0.9% in broader indices..". "Looking ahead, there's a possibility of consolidation in the benchmark index following recent upward movement, with support expected around the 23,700–23,900 range on any declines. Banking stocks are currently consolidating, while sectors such as IT, <keyword id="6357014" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="energy" source="Orion">energy</keyword>, and FMCG are buoying the index higher. Similar market dynamics are anticipated in the upcoming session, so traders should strategize accordingly," he continued. Rajesh Bhosale, Equity Technical Analyst, Angel One saw this as an exceptional week for the market, and cautioned that some cooling was on the cards. "It was an exceptional week for the bulls as markets reached new milestones. The week began on a negative note on Monday, with prices testing the previous week's lows. However, the bulls saw this as an opportunity and pushed prices higher. Prices continued to climb for four consecutive sessions, surpassing the 24,000 level for the first time. On Friday, the market opened positively and hit a new high of 24174, but some profit-taking in the second half led to a close just above 24000, marking a weekly gain of over 2%," he noted. Amidst all the key events, June was a remarkable month for the markets, with gains exceeding 6.5%. While the market appears to be in a strong bull run, the next move in the coming week might be challenging as oscillators across all major time frames are in overbought territory. Often, overbought conditions indicate potential inherent signs; however, in the near term, a cool-down cannot be ruled out. While taking contra-bets and shorting the market is not advised, taking some profits is prudent, as a correction, either in price or time, is anticipated." Bhosale said. <h2>IPO market</h2>The primary market is gearing up for another stellar period, given that three companies launched their initial public offerings (IPOs) to raise approximately ₹2,208 crore this week. Mahavir Lunawat, Managing Director, Pantomath Capital Advisors Pvt. Ltd. notes that with political stability restored, stock markets are once again on the rise, and the Nifty and Sensex indices have hit record highs. "Optimism is especially pronounced in the IPO market, as Hyundai Motor India, the country's second-largest carmaker, is planning a huge ₹25,000 crore IPO this year, which would be the biggest in India's history. We expect significant capital to be deployed in public markets and strong demand for both new-age and conventional companies in the coming months," he said.
