Eyes closed, hips rotating, he seems to be communing with the spirit of a soul <keyword id="6354530" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="music">music</keyword> legend. "If you're joining me for the first time, welcome," Rebillet opened a recent broadcast. "I'm very glad to have you here. I'm Marc Rebillet. I like to make stupid sh*t up off the top of my head. I have no idea what's going on. Neither do you. And that's kind of the thrill of it — just making sh*t up from scratch."Equipped with little more than a mic, a keyboard, and a Boss RC-505 loop station, Rebillet's self-effacing description of his work belies its complexity. Live-looping, his characteristic musical technique, requires a high level of precision, as the artist records, layers, and overdubs different riffs in real-time to create a cohesive new song. For an added challenge, Rebillet improvises the lyrics, too, using a hotline to gather ideas and inspiration from fans in far-flung places. When he picks up, they're uniformly shocked (and<a href="https://youtu.be/CCRPMwU7Jic?t=4707"> elated</a>) to have finally gotten their chance to make an on-air request.Previous suggestions have included "<a href="https://youtu.be/S4tL6IVievw?t=2795">losing your Juul</a>," "<a href="https://youtu.be/CCRPMwU7Jic?t=2602">the magic of boobies</a>," "<a href="https://youtu.be/JIvOO-PRnIY?t=4955">rekindling friendship,</a>" "<a href="https://youtu.be/KgbrvN_gVSo?t=6313">FaceTime sex</a>," and "<a href="https://youtu.be/pyA6qseI1ew?t=528">Baby Gap jorts</a>." Rebillet has yet to be stumped by a topic, although he's open about the "universal anxiety" of feeling creatively blocked. His online catalog is so vast that he often worries about inadvertently repeating old material. "I'm having to think very hard about doing justice to the topic," he admitted. "But then I'm also having to think about creating something that's musically interesting and unique from what I have already done."<h2>Aesthetic worlds collide in Rebillet's work. </h2>Rebillet counts the high priestess of soul, Nina Simone, among his <a href="https://djmag.com/content/get-know-marc-rebillet">greatest inspirations</a> (along with Reggie Watts, Madlib, and James Blake). But he's very much an artist of his time. A true "child of the internet," who "spent his formative years on AOL and AIM and MSN Messenger," Rebillet's sense of humor is extremely online, often leaning so far toward the crass or absurd that it becomes unexpectedly insightful. Once, a 39-year-old fan named Keith — a "pack-a-day" smoker who was, at that very moment, enjoying a cigarette on his porch — called in and asked Rebillet to compose a song that would help him kick the habit for good. Rebillet obliged, turning the phrase "Keith's about to quit, baby" into a refrain. "You know what Keith? No one gives a f-ck, okay?" Rebillet intoned over the beat. "Only person who should give a f-ck about that is you. So swallow it, breathe in, and motherfuckin' quit baby."<h2>There is some extremely and uniquely online about his interactive one-man act. </h2>In a sense, live looping mimics the way art is made and shared online, where, almost immediately, it will be critiqued, modified, built upon, and retooled until it either dies or becomes canon. As writer Robert Cohen<a href="http://www.jankysmooth.com/marc-rebillet-los-globos-loop-daddy-12-11-2018/"> once observed</a> of Rebillet's music, "his meme-like beats endlessly recycle, fuse, and explode genres," just as the internet does "with ideas, beliefs, and languages." Last month, during one of his "<a href="https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/19/21185220/tours-canceled-musicians-marc-rebillet-twitch-livestreaming-coronavirus">quaranstreams</a>" organized to lift spirits and <a href="https://blog.bonfire.com/marc-rebillet/">raise money</a> for coronavirus relief, he took a call-in request from <a href="https://youtu.be/kgIKeLjxS-Q?t=883">a woman</a> who'd just been through a costly divorce and career change. But now that the world is collectively in crisis, she continued, her bills and problems no longer feel so personal and all-consuming. "Okay, so we're going to do two types of beats," he explained to viewers, after hanging up. "We're gonna do one type and then we're gonna go double time."Rebillet created the song's foundational loop by recording (and re-recording) himself singing the phrase "everything sucks" until it sounded like an angry crowd's chant. Then, he tapped a myriad of synth-y beats into his existence on his keyboard, saving each one on top of the first loop to create an underlying structure for the song. Above the hum, he rhapsodized freely about feeling like Sisyphus, forever rolling a boulder up a mountain.As soon as one riff went stale, he threw in another, allowing the song to bounce between tempos and genres. A few minutes in, he did a theatrical interlude by pitching his voice down to a growl. "This just in, news headline: A new virus has spread all throughout the world. Stop everything you're doing. All your problems that mean something now? They're not shit compared to what's about to go down. The entire world is in turmoil....Well, now my problems are — my problems are fine, my problems cause it's the end of the world. Oh that's the end of my worries."Like memes take on life online, Rebillet's music takes shape as cultural references, his own artistry, and crowdsourced suggestions are remixed into something new."It was sort of on the internet where I was able to just figure the thing out," Rebillet said. "Like, figure the performance out in a very basic way... All of those little fundamental things got figured out on the internet."<h2>Like all the best internet personalities, Rebillet knows how to lean into his shtick, while keeping things fresh.</h2>The robe has been Rebillet's signature look for years. He owns about a dozen of them now, including silk and satin kimono-style numbers; a black Versace Barocco print stunner; and a vibrant yellow replica of the "Hotel Chevalier" robe Jason Schwartzman wore in "The Darjeeling Limited."And, somewhere along the way, fans started wearing them to his live shows, too. "Especially now in, in quarantine, it's just the greatest piece of homewear you can throw on," Rebillet said. "It's very low-effort. It covers you like a blanket and you can just lounge around and look half-stylish while you do it. It's the best.""And a robe, you know, when you're on stage, it's begging to be taken off," he continued. "There's a belt that you — all you have to do is pull on it, and the whole thing comes off. It's really engineered to be taken off."And Rebillet does, indeed, disrobe during almost every live show. Often, someone in the comments will timestamp the moment to save future viewers the time and effort of looking for it. But lately, Rebillet has been thinking it might be time to swap the robe for something more elegant. "Once I can get back out on the road and play in front of people, I'm probably gonna change the uniform up," he mused. "I'm thinking suits. I'd love to do, like, really well-tailored suits. Just come out f***ing business, you know?"<h2>It may be months before Rebillet can connect with fans in person again. </h2>The rise of COVID-19 forced Rebillet to postpone his summer tour dates and festival circuit shows in favor of getting back to his roots: performing via live stream from his apartment and doing one-take, pre-recorded songs like the perpetual fan favorite "<a href="https://youtu.be/VKF5LCHZREg">One More Time,</a>" or the anthem he recently wrote for essential workers.But in June, he could be coming to a drive-in movie theatre near you. Last week, Rebillet<a href="https://youtu.be/8CxKIMIaU6I"> announced</a> a<a href="https://www.iwannahotbox.com"> drive-in live concert tour</a>, in which he'll play shows via live broadcast to cars full of fans in places like Charlotte, North Carolina and Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's a perfect encapsulation of the "odd gray space" Rebillet occupies between internet fame and conventional celebrity. "I think the vast majority of online creators probably will never meet their fanbase, because what they do is strictly online," he said. "If you're, if you're a tech YouTuber, if you're a lifestyle blogger or whatever, maybe you'll have a meet-up every once in a while. But you're pretty much relegated to being an online personality. But I spent well over half of last year on the road. I was supposed to spend well over half of this year being on the road. 'Loop Daddy' Marc Rebillet is making meme-like music about jorts, Juul-ing, and FaceTime sex

The announcement came at a Microsoft press event on Tuesday morning.This news marks the likely finale of a dramatic few months for AltspaceVR - and gives Microsoft's Windows 10 its own virtual reality social networking service as it <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-windows-10-virtual-reality-steamvr-integrated-graphics-2017-8">moves to compete with Google, Facebook, and others in the nascent market for virtual reality</a>.Originally founded in 2013, AltspaceVR raised $15 million from investors including GV (formerly Google Ventures) and Comcast Ventures. The service provided virtual reality meeting spaces for people to hang out, play games, and watch videos together. Celebrities like Reggie Watts and Bill Nye held virtual performances in AltspaceVR. The app is available for VR headsets including Facebook's Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, and the HTC Vive, plus the web browsers. The company claimed 35,000 active users by the summer of 2017.In July 2017, though, <a href="https://altvr.com/good-bye/">AltspaceVR suddenly announced it was closing its doors entirely</a> after a funding deal fell through at the last second. Bud Light is using this year's Super Bowl to introduce a new tagline, "The Perfect Beer For Whatever Happens," and America's best selling beer is pulling out all the stops to make sure it's a hit.
In its "Epic Nights" ad posted Friday morning on YouTube, a hidden camera follows an average Joe named Ian as he meets a woman named Kelly (he doesn't know she's an actress), who offers to give him a bottle of Bud Light if he promises to be up for whatever happens next. Ian agrees, and things take off from there.
In a storyline that somewhat mirrors the popular "The Hangover" movies, Ian is led to a stretch limousine filled with beautiful women and comedian/DJ Reggie Watts, who are on their way to a bachelor party.
From there, Ian receives a suit from Minka Kelly, meets Don Cheadle (and a llama) in an elevator, and challenges Arnold Schwarzenegger to an intense game of ping-pong in front of a crowd of cheering fans. 
After Ian defeats Arnold, one of the walls in the room they are standing in comes down to reveal that they are actually in a giant party being played by the band OneRepublic.
Here's the video, which is nearly four minutes long. The Super Bowl commercial will be edited down to 90 seconds and aired over two commercial spots during the game.

Bud Light is hoping that its star-studded ad and new tagline <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-bud-light-tagline-to-debut-at-super-bowl-2014-1">will win over millennials</a> as it looks to reverse <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/bud-parent-co-replaces-us-marketing-head-2014-1">a continued sales decline</a> resulting from the rising popularity of craft beers and sweet cocktails.
The ad was made by BBDO, which Bud Light named as its agency of record this past summer.

Bud Light <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-bud-light-tagline-to-debut-at-super-bowl-2014-1">had previously announced</a> that two of its three ads at the Feb. 2 game would form a cohesive story called "Epic Night" and include surprise celebrity cameos. The ads will launch a new tagline, "The Perfect Beer For Whatever Happens," which replaces the "Here We Go" slogan Bud Light has used since 2010.
The teaser ads give viewers a clue that the "Epic Night" ads will tell several interweaving stories featuring wild nighttime escapades in the vein of the popular "The Hangover" movies. In <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjPukKU7dKk&amp;list=PLW8WDQniSGxR0P-2YNUMBphQDHDST5ESv">one video</a>, we see Schwarzenegger gearing up for an intense game of ping-pong, and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGq_b_RJuV4&amp;list=PLW8WDQniSGxR0P-2YNUMBphQDHDST5ESv">in another</a>, Cheadle stands in an apartment building hallway with a llama that appears to be his pet.
Another teaser video insinuates that there will be some sort of "reality" angle to Bud Light's ads involving 412 actors, 58 hidden cameras, and one unsuspecting Average Joe, who will have to decide whether he's "up for whatever happens next" in the wild ride Bud Light has planned.

The ads were created by the <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> agency BBDO, and will be promoted with the social media hashtag #UpForWhatever. Bud Light has said previously that its new campaign will try to reflect Millennial values like optimism and the desire to "go out there and experience the world."
In addition to the "Epic Night" commercials, which will be 30 seconds and 60 seconds in length, Bud Light will promote its new reclosable bottle in a 30-second ad from the St. Louis agency Cannonball at the start of the game.

The YouTube Music Award's nominations are based on video views, likes, comments, and subscriptions since September 2012, and winners will be chosen by fan votes.
The live NYC awards show will be streamed on YouTube, naturally, and will be preceded by a series of music events in five cities around the world (Moscow, Rio, London, Seoul, and Tokyo).

Here Are The Nominations For YouTube's First Music Awards

A parade of hipsters walked a straight line from the Bedford Avenue L train stop in Williamsburg to a gigantic warehouse space in north Brooklyn last night for Tumblr's 2014 Year in Review celebration.
Despite sleet, the line to enter the party wrapped around the block and we waited dutifully for nearly 20 minutes before a Tumblr employee rescued us and shuffled us inside.&#xa0;
The party, held at the the Brooklyn Night Bazaar,&#xa0;was massive.
The Bazaar's hall was packed full of carnival games, food stands, a stage, a video-game arcade, and a ball pit (an inside joke among Tumblr users alluding to <a href="http://www.blastr.com/2014-7-14/17000-ball-pit-how-dashcon-went-Tumblr-con-conning-Tumblr">this summer's</a> Dash Con fiasco where hundreds of Tumblr fans were swindled out of money but offered the chance to swim in a ball pit).

There was a neon mini-golf course featuring cardboard cutouts of Tumblr's most reblogged celebrities, an air-hockey station, pool tables, a beer garden, and free taco stand. Projectors beamed top blog posts and Tumblr trends of 2014 onto the walls.
On stage, singer Reggie Watts chanted loudly, "J. Crew, J. Crew, J. Crew! Starbucks, Starbucks, Starrrrbucks! Pieces of shit, pieces of shit, pieces of shit!" There was no music. It was just him yelling these things.
Daily Show Correspondent Jessica Williams played host to the evening and was probably the most traditionally famous person there. However, Drake, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West lookalikes roamed around the event taking selfies.
Tumblr also invited its power users to the celebration, and it took some effort getting the internet-obsessed crowd out of its shell. The Lady Gaga lookalike said that she was surprised people at the party were so shy. "No one is talking to me!" she told us.

To be fair, most guests were more interested in meeting the social-media stars in attendance. Famous YouTubers Joey Gatto, Josh Sobocinski, and Chris Klemmens showed up, and Marnie the dog jaunted through the party in her owner's purse.
There was a smaller, roped-off VIP area that appeared to house a disproportionate number of models and style bloggers. They sipped free drinks and mingled with Tumblr clients and fashion-savvy Tumblr celebs. &#xa0;
When asked about the platform, however, one group of three models didn't appear to even understand what it was. "We're just here with my friend," they explained. "She knows a promoter."
Another VIP guest named Jessica Mastroserio admitted she preferred Imgur to Tumblr. She said it was too hard to find images she likes on Tumblr and wasn't sure who to follow. "Imgur is easier to navigate, you can just sort it by 'viral' and do whatever you want to do," she explained.
"I'm trying to get back into it," her friend, a Paper magazine employee named Kate, told us. She said she used to share a Tumblr with her good friend, but that her friend moved away and she had given up updating it on her own. 
One <a href="http://lindsayshands.tumblr.com/">single-serving Tumblr</a> she and a third friend at the party created featuring Lindsay Lohan without hands. It been updated in two years.

Back on the party's main floor, Tumblr fanatics rabidly debated how frequently to reblog (a consensus was never reached), and which Tumblr celeb was most accessible (a slew of notable Tumblr users attended the party including Nick Divers from Best Rooftalk Ever, and Mr. Gif).
Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp was also there and spent most of the night in the public area chatting with friends.
By around 11:00 p.m., the party reached peak capacity and indie band the 1975s took the stage. Guests enjoyed a short show before filtering back into the cold night.
