Ad Volumes rose in all weeks of July’21 over the same weeks in July’20, with the highest growth (16%) occurring in week 1 of July’21, the report revealed. Television witnessed over 40 new categories, over 1200 new advertisers and over 2100 new brands in July this year as compared to July 20. Corporate/Brand Image, Ecom-Education and Tea were the new entrants among the Top 10 categories in Jul'21. Toilet Soaps retained its first rank in Jul'21 over Jul’20, followed by Milk Beverages on 2nd position. Week 17 sees a 10% increase in the count of brands advertising on Television: BARC India & Nielsen

<ul><li>TV advertising saw a good revival in H2 2020.</li><li><keyword id="6365619" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindustan-unilever">Hindustan Unilever</keyword> was the biggest advertiser in 2020 with a 30% growth in <keyword id="9064221" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ad-volumes">ad volumes</keyword> over 2019, followed by the <keyword id="73803" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reckitt-Benckiser">Reckitt Benckiser</keyword> Group, with their ad volumes growing by 37% in 2020 over 2019.</li></ul>In a challenging year for India and the world, television ad volumes in the second half of 2020 saw a substantial increase. According to <keyword id="65298" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BARC">BARC</keyword>, Hindustan Unilever was the biggest advertiser in 2020 with a 30% growth in ad volumes over 2019, followed by the Reckitt Benckiser Group, with their ad volumes growing by 37% in 2020 over 2019. “Television continues to be the screen of the household and the most important medium for all the major advertisers to reach their audience pre-pandemic and post lockdown too. Return of originals along with the festive season and live sporting events boosted the ad volumes, taking the overall growth in ad volumes to 34% as compared to H1, 2020 and eventually minimising the reduction in volumes to a marginal -3% for the overall year, as compared to 2019,” said <keyword id="7538858" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="aaditya-pathak">Aaditya Pathak</keyword>, Head – Client Partnership &amp; Revenue Function, BARC India. Movies genre saw significant growth in ad volumes in 2020 as compared to 2019. Hindi GEC witnessed the highest growth in ad volumes with 10% as compared to 2019. Other Regional GECs saw a growth of 8% as over 2019. News genre in 2020 too had the highest volume, while Ad Volumes dropped by 1%. A heightened consciousness of safeguarding our health, understandably gave a boost to the antiseptics and personal care categories. Ad volumes for Dettol Toilet Soaps and Dettol Antiseptic Liquid, went up by 118% and 136% respectively. Horlicks ad volumes also surged by 60% in 2020 as compared to 2019. In this pandemic necessitated lockdown, and people confined to their homes, digital brands too, turned to television to capitalise on the undisputed reach of the medium, given the changing consumer buying habits. During the peak lockdown in April and May, the ad volumes for digital brands was the highest with 16% and 13% respectively as compared to the month of January 2020. The highest ad volumes share for digital brands in 2019 was at 9% in the months of March, September and December.

Television ad volumes of H2 2020 grew 34% over H1 2020: BARC

Once known for its stronghold on the tobacco industry, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ITC">ITC</a> has come a long way. Venturing into lifestyle largely and then into <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/topic/fmcg">FMCG</a> products, this <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kolkata">Kolkata</a> based company has efficiently removed the tag of being a tobacco brand. Now, the FMCG-Hospitality conglomerate plans to expand its portfolio to health and home care segments as well. 
 
Having acquired Savlon from Johnson &amp; Johnson about six months back, ITC will be introducing hand wash, hand sanitizer, shower gel and floor, glass and toilet cleaners under the brand. 
 
"By the end of next year, ITC plans to bring nearly 100 different packs across variants within these categories, each competing directly with Reckitt Benckiser brands," one of the officials said. 
 
Dettol, the uncrowned king in this segment has been enjoying the leverage for quite a long time. British consumer giant <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Reckitt+Benckiser">Reckitt Benckiser</a>, which manufactures the antiseptic also has other brands like Harpic, Lizol and Colin. However, Savlon had sales of Rs 65 crore during fiscal 2014, trailing Dettol. Now that Savlon has an insignificant presence in hand wash, ITC may play a bigger role in changing the game. 
 
India has a Rs 16,000-crore soaps market, where <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=unilever">Unilever</a>’s Lifebuoy controls the highest market share with 17%. Dettol has a 7.7% market share and ITC’s Vivel has a 2.5% share. 
ITC aims to achieve Rs 1 lakh crore by 2030, which is almost a 10 folds jump from its present revenue of Rs 9,038 crore. 
 
Within the personal care business, the company has not been able to gain substantial traction as it did in deodorants, where it became the second-largest brand. The cash cow - packaged foods - is perhaps the only one that has been performing well, after being the second-largest snack maker, largest branded atta company as well as the third-largest biscuit maker in the country.

How Savlon could soon be the new ‘Dettol’

Dettol Banega Swasth India Handwash Digital Curriculum launched the second phase of the program in collaboration with the All India Organization of Imams of Mosque. The program in its first phase successfully influenced the lives of 1,00,000 children through a holistic hygiene education program.

 According to the World Health Organization, poor hygiene practices are believed to be the main cause of death among children under five years. Significantly, primary research showed that there is a huge difference in knowledge (50%), attitude, practice (32%) and behaviour around handwashing among kids in Madrasas. With the initiative, Reckitt Benckiser aims to create a positive impact on children and ensure we create the shift in knowledge from 50% to 90% in year two. The program is aimed at gaining mindshare and turning the best hygiene and sanitation practices into natural habits among the school children across various regions in rural India. It is conceptualized keeping in mind the background, acceptance and the current academic curriculum of the kids. The video-based learning program is available for the children in both Urdu and Hindi. In its second phase, the program will improve knowledge. Accordingly, the company has begun the export of 5th Gen <keyword id="20630" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword> City with the dispatch of initial batch to Middle East countries from the Pipavav port in Gujarat and Ennore port in Chennai. Honda to export new City 2020 from India to left-hand drive markets

New Delhi, <keyword id="44717" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Automobile">Automobile</keyword> major <keyword id="6365618" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki-india">Maruti Suzuki India</keyword> on Thursday reported a rise of 24.1% in its net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2020, owing to higher sales and <keyword id="6741400" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Non-operating-income">non-operating income</keyword>. According to the automobile manufacturer, the net profit during the quarter under review rose to ₹1,941.4 crore from ₹1,564.8 crore during the corresponding period of previous fiscal. "During the quarter, the company registered net sales of ₹222,367 million, an increase of 13.2 per cent compared to the same period previous year," the company said in a statement. "The 'Operating Profit for the Quarter' was at ₹14,848 million, a growth of 19.3 per cent over the same period previous year on account of higher sales volume and cost reduction efforts partially offset by increase in commodity prices and adverse foreign exchange movement." Besides, the company sold a total of 495,897 vehicles during the quarter, higher by 13.4% compared to the same period previous year. "Sales in the domestic market stood at 467,369 units, growing by 13%. Exports were at 28,528 units, higher by 20.6 per cent." Maruti Suzuki's Q3FY21 net profit rises over 24%

During the festive period, that is October-December 2020, ad volumes increased by 39% over the previous quarter. It was on a steady rise until December 2020 and the major credit for this growth goes to Indian Premier League 2020, festive season and improvement in consumer sentiment. However, as per TAM AdEx’s latest report, ad volumes on television have declined by 3% in quarter Jan-March 21. The undisputed leader Hindustan Unilever Limited continued its run as the biggest advertiser with 14% of the overall ad volume, followed by Reckitt Benckiser India with 12% volume share. 8 out of 10 advertisers were from the FMCG sector. ITC, Ponds India, Colgate Palmolive India, Brooke Bond Lipton India, Cadburys India, Godrej Consumer Products had a 2% share each on television this quarter. Top 10 Advertisers accounted for more than 40% of the total ad volume during Jan-Mar'21. In the previous quarter ending Dec ‘20, the Personal Care/Personal Hygiene was the top most sector to contribute to TV advertising’s growth, accounting for 20% share of ad volumes, followed by F&amp;B with 18% share. The top three sectors together added 52% share of ad volumes and education was a new entrant in the Top 10 list.

HP Smart Tank is designed for small and medium businesses, jobbers, and home office needs, powered by a new sensor-based Ink Tank technology that alerts the user before the ink runs out. The HP Smart Tank comes with ink supplies in the box that can give an output of minimum 6000 pages (black)/8000 pages (colour) with a 38% increase in printing speed. It offers enhanced mobile experience and connectivity through dual-band Wi-Fi and HP Smart mobile print app and Bluetooth LE. HP launches 'Smart Tank' series printers in India starting at ₹11,900

According to The <keyword id="6765301" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Verge">Verge</keyword>, the company is updating its "Stories" feature so that it opens up to show a carousel of videos, which previews what's cued up next and the content that just played. From this interface, viewers can click on whatever story they want to watch. It's sort of like if the tiny circles at the top of users' feeds went bigger and full-screen, the report said on Wednesday. This is a minor change, but it rounds out the desktop feature and makes it more appealing to use, especially as people are on their computers more frequently while working from home. The photo-sharing platform started testing this new feature earlier this month. A spokesperson from Instagram, earlier this month, told Engadget that this feature is being tested and it has begun appearing to a "small group" of Instagram users. For the most part, Instagram has left Stories unchanged for years. The format is the same as always, with posts being ephemeral. Most of Instagram's changes to the format come in the form of creative tools, like stickers for small businesses and new fonts. Instagram launches new layout for "Stories" feature for desktop users

New Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> said on Thursday that his <keyword id="6354944" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="aam-aadmi-party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> (<keyword id="6356115" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword>) will contest elections in six states in 2022. "In the next two years, AAP will contest elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, <keyword id="826" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goa">Goa</keyword>, <keyword id="6354953" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="punjab">Punjab</keyword>, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat," the AAP national convener said while addressing party leaders and workers after a National Council meeting at Kapashera here. He asserted that people supported the AAP because they had realised that both the <keyword id="14666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> and teh <keyword id="1575" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> had ruled for years but did nothing to change the lives of the common man. "People outside Delhi are fed up with both the BJP and the Congress' policy of divide and rule and have now started looking at the AAP as an alternative. People in other states too want free water and free electricity and they know that only AAP can deliver this. As party workers or leaders, you have to reach out to the people," Kejriwal said. "Earlier, the people used to say that AAP is a Delhi-centric party with no footprint outside the national capital. But, now people have changed their views towards AAP. We have worked hard and proved that the AAP has a vision for the country. In the last six years, our work in Delhi has been noticed by the people," the Chief Minister added. Kejriwal reiterated that Delhi's health services had proved to be a success in handling the coronavirus pandemic.
