Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in India affecting one in 28 women and it is also the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women. Doctors of various healthcare institutions in Hyderabad say the lack of early detection of the disease is the main reason causing the death of women when they reach advanced stages of cancer. They have advised women to stay cautious of their health to ensure they do not neglect any cancerous symptoms. October is commemorated as 'Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and healthcare practitioners have appealed to the government to take necessary steps to spread awareness about this deadly disease even across rural areas. "Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms. Where mammography facilities are not available, breast self-examination can be taught to the women so that cancers of at least 2-3 cm in size can be diagnosed," said Dr M. Jwala Srikala Consultant Radiologist, KIMS Hospital. According to her, even illiterate women also can test themselves at home by pressing their breasts gently with the middle three fingers and sense if any lumps are there. "They should immediately consult a doctor if they find any lump in the breast. Early detection leads to giving qualitative life to the patients," she said. Dr M Ravi <keyword id="179591" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kumar-reddy" source="Orion">Kumar Reddy</keyword>, Consultant Surgical Oncologist, <keyword id="15290178" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="amor-hospitals" source="Orion">Amor Hospitals</keyword>, pointed out that one in every four cancer patients are a victim of breast cancer disease, and in terms of mortality, nearly 35 per cent of women die from this disease in India. "While the Asian average of these deaths is 34 per cent, the global average stands at 30 per cent, categorising this disease among the deadliest. This high mortality is due to late diagnosis of the ailment. Hence it is important that necessary steps are taken to spread awareness about this ailment, which will help save thousands of lives each year. While awareness and screening are the first steps, there is a need to take treatment closer to people to prolong survival and improve quality of life." Dr Suvarna Rai, Consultant Obstetrician &amp; Gynaecologist, SLG Hospitals, suggested that health departments, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and associations working in this space, all must come together to devise a strategy which will help enhance awareness of breast cancer disease. "It is important that young women are made aware of this deadly disease and they are taught means to detect it early. Unless such steps are taken on an urgent basis, breast cancer will spread in the country and we might lose more precious lives," he said. Being overweight or obese after menopause also increases breast cancer risk. Women who have not had children or had their first child after age 30 have a slightly higher breast cancer risk overall. Having many pregnancies and becoming pregnant at a young age reduces breast cancer risk," he explained. Surgery is an integral part of the treatment when treated with curative intent, but the entire process is a costly affair. Insurance policies and central or state government-run schemes cover partly or only a few of these modalities, resulting in patients paying from their pockets or resorting to the approved protocols, even if it is over/under-treating them. Doctors opine that the policies and schemes need to be more welcoming and be periodically updated on par with the changing trends in the management of these cancers for more people to reap the benefits. BCCI onboards brokerage firm Upstox as an official partner for IPL

New Delhi, July 6 (IANS) What if your boss or senior messages you on Facebook and asks for money telling you that his wife is in hospital and seriously ill? Chances are that you might transfer the said amount as early as possible considering the seriousness of the situation. Now, in an interesting case of cyber fraud, Delhi Police has arrested a man who posed as the victim's senior by creating a fake Facebook ID and then contacting the victim and asking for immediate transfer of Rs 60,000 into his Paytm account to get his wife treated in hospital. The victim transferred Rs 58,000. "The matter came to light when the complainant gave a call to his senior inquiring about the health of his wife in a goodwill gesture. However, he was shocked to know that no such money request was made by his senior on Facebook. It was then he realised that he had been duped. We later registered a case at Burari police station and started the investigation," said DCP North Monika Bhadwaj. During the course of investigation technical surveillance was mounted and on the basis of surveillance the accused was zeroed in and his location was found to be in Lohawan, Mathura (UP). Delhi Police then raided several places in Mathura and the accused Ravi Kumar was arrested. During interrogation, accused Ravi Kumar disclosed that he belongs to village Devasaras, which is known as hub of OLX/PAYTM cheaters, police said. He used to have a mobile repairing shop. He came in contact with one Kanhaiya, who was actively involved in the OLX/PAYTM frauds. He started working with Kanhaiya. He obtained a SIM card on a fake ID and opened a Paytm wallet. He created a fake Facebook ID of the victim's senior and sent a money request to the complainant. The accused further disclosed that one of his associates Khalid used to bring Paytm wallets of other village boys into which he transferred the fraud amount. Khalid was hired by him to withdraw the said amount and in return the accused shared 10 per cent of the total amount withdrawn with Khalid who is still absconding. --IANS zaz/kr

Banks were more welcoming to diverse-owned broker dealers, and private-equity firms were demanding greater diversity on their portfolio companies' boards, among other initiatives.It's a reckoning that's well overdue, and this month, Insider hosted a virtual panel, "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2HdYhjwUrc&amp;ab_channel=BusinessInsider">Investing in People Transforms Economies</a>", featuring three executives to dissect the strides that financial institutions have made to foster industry-wide diversity initiatives that stand the test of time.For Karen Fang, the global head of sustainable <keyword id="11895316" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="finance" source="Orion">finance</keyword> at Bank of America, sustainability is really about connecting financial capital with human capital, while Megan Starr, the head of impact at Carlyle, believes the private-equity firm's portfolio companies are better-served through inclusive teams.And Ravi Kumar, president at IT services company Infosys, reckons the pandemic served as a gut check to employers grappling with today's workforce that demand equity and empathy."There's this sense of a 'pandemic epiphany,' if I may. An epiphany about understanding the purpose and priorities of people you want to work with," Kumar told Insider. "Employers are spending time on mental health. We need flexibility in our jobs, but it's also about who you want to work with, what's the purpose and where your priorities are."<h2>Bringing financial tools to bear</h2>Financial institutions, meanwhile, have doubled-down on efforts to enact change through debt and equity instruments that don't just promote diversity, but seek to hold companies accountable for their actions."Whether it's displacement or re-skilling that we're talking about, all of this takes dollars and capital," BofA's Fang said. "The private sector has realized the role we can play through capital markets to deliver on those goals."BofA, for example, conducted its inaugural $2 billion equality progress sustainability bond in September 2020, which was used to support mortgages or construction loans for black and Latin borrowers. The proceeds also supported single, or multi-family housing, and affordable housing projects. And last December, the US bank <a href="https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/content/newsroom/press-releases/2021/12/bank-of-america-issues-its-second-equality-progress-sustainabili.html">followed up</a> with another $2 billion bond that provided capital for affordable housing and for minority-owned businesses.Last year's transaction also employed the services of black-owned investment banks like Loop Capital and Siebert Williams Shank to help arrange the bond."Let's make sure minority-owned businesses and communities get the capital, or the mortgages, and small-business loans that they require," Fang said.<h2>Holding corporate America to account</h2>Carlyle's Starr said she's focused on changes that can be sustained over the long term. Whether it's the private-equity firm or its portfolio companies, Starr wants the impact to last, rather than it be a reactionary flash in the pan that's swept under the rug with the current news cycle."Better businesses have engaged, productive, loyal, and sticky employee bases. So I think impact right now has taken root in this idea of change over time. It's far more impactful than just binary capital allocation decisions," Starr told the audience.Carlyle, for example, inked a $4.1 billion credit line in February last year that's focused on advancing diversity within the boards of its portfolio companies. Thirty percent of these boards' directors must be from diverse backgrounds within two years of Carlyle taking control of the company.By implementing a more diverse board, the firm is hopeful this effort will trickle down into its companies' broader hiring efforts.Carlyle also is holding itself accountable. If it does not meet these targets, the firm will pay a greater cost for its debt."With this, we've tied our cost of capital to it, and we have year-over-year key performance indicators. And if we make them, there's a real benefit to the pricing of our debt," Starr said.

Economists blame supply-chain disruptions and exploding pent-up consumer demand — while predicting that the buying frenzy will abate. Spending on goods will likely slow, but demand for services, such as those around restaurants, travel, healthcare, and education, will grow by all estimations. And the cost of services is driven primarily by the cost of labor.Let's take a peek at labor. While unemployment is dropping, participation in the workforce remains sluggish. Job openings cruise above pre-pandemic levels, and businesses struggle to find skilled workers. The pandemic-induced uncertainty continues. But remote or hybrid work may not be viable for every business.The labor shortage is compelling companies to boost pay. That, in turn, is inflating prices of goods and services. With US consumer prices having jumped 6.2% last year, those who don't receive a wage increase of at least 6% will have less purchasing power than before.Employers, unsurprisingly, are accelerating their adoption of automation. In Chicago, for example, 10 McDonald's restaurants now use artificial intelligence to tackle drive-thru orders. This came after McDonald's made headlines last year for offering $50 to candidates who showed up for job interviews. It's not uncommon, either, to find grocery stores and pharmacies replacing cashiers with self-service kiosks. This is just the beginning.<h3>So what about the American worker who isn't ready to hand over their job to automation? </h3>The path with the most prospects for advancement is upskilling workers for higher-level roles as technology takes over simple, repeatable tasks. In addition, there's significant payoff for broadening someone's capabilities to include digital skills that allow the person to participate in the economy that creates and deploys technology.As environmental, social, and corporate-governance issues become salient, and corporations scrutinize their role in society, I believe corporate America is keen to adopt a more sustainable template to alleviate the labor shortage, with a mitigatory influence on inflation, while also empowering American workers.<div type="image" title="Ravi Kumar, President, Infosys" height="5616" width="3744" msid="89976013" hostid="261"></div>We need to chart disruptive paths to progress. This also means transitioning to an always-on skills-based employment infrastructure that embraces not just credentials and certification but also fitness for a job and employability as outcomes. Employers can be instrumental in progressively moving people up with social mobility through smaller sprints of education delivered throughout their lives. More progressive organizations will also ensure they nurture a rich cognitive diversity of talent, from across various walks of life, to enrich their workforces' problem-finding quotient as AI takes over the problem-solving. We need to transform more places into workplaces. Remote work means more people otherwise limited by their circumstances — like caregiving adults, students, and people with disabilities or in rural areas — can now be included in the nontraditional American workforce and gig economy. Remote hiring can also blunt the edge of workplace bias influenced by social norms, race, academics, and more.Smart American corporations will reset human capital to run their businesses at full throttle but equally and purposefully let human and ESG considerations lead the way.Ravi Kumar is president of Infosys

The policy aims to push domestic production of launch vehicles, satellite systems and sub-systems and ground equipment manufacturing. This can potentially create a trickle-down impact on other areas of innovation such as universal connectivity and big data analytics for agriculture, remote education, disaster management, he said. Equal emphasis would be given to downstream applications of remote sensing that have the potential to solve real-life problems in agriculture, disaster management, insurance, urban flood modeling and forestry. The Centre's Department of Space recently released the draft Spacecom policy 2020 and draft SpaceRS policy 2020.
