A leaked video clip of a bewildered <keyword id="28507" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="aryan" source="Orion">Aryan</keyword> Khan sitting with a few others in the <keyword id="238749" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ncb" source="Orion">NCB</keyword> office, was flashed by some local TV channels, with the likelihood of more prominent names emerging. An NCB official said that Aryan is among several others who are likely to be questioned in connection with the alleged party that they attended aboard the luxury ship on a Mumbai-Goa cruise. In the first of its kind operation on a cruise ship, the NCB swooped onto the raid party being held on the cruise ship off the Mumbai coast and detained around eight persons including Aryan Khan. The action -- which shocked Mumbaikars and rattled the rich crowds -- started on Saturday afternoon, is still continuing with the process of registering the FIR underway, with the possibility of some high-profile arrests. <keyword id="2536207" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ncb-zonal" source="Orion">NCB Zonal</keyword> Director <keyword id="1150099" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sameer-wankhede" source="Orion">Sameer Wankhede</keyword>, who led the raid on the ship along with a team of officials, declined to comment on the developments as the investigations are underway. The operation followed a tip-off on the proposed rave party that was planned aboard a cruise ship bound on a Mumbai-Goa voyage, setting sail from the International Cruise Terminal, Mumbai. The participation for the party was reportedly done via social media with the ticket rates upwards of Rs 75,000 per person. To avoid detection, the NCB sleuths booked themselves on that cruise as ordinary passengers and they soon found some of their co-passengers consuming drugs. Then the NCB launched its full-scale raid, detained eight passengers, including two women, consuming drugs, and seized different types of narcotics in varying quantities. Simultaneously, the cruise ship was ordered to turn and sail back to the ICT at Ballard Pier where the detained passengers were offloaded along with their baggage. A comprehensive search of their belongings as also the cruise ship is being carried out, while the detainees were sent for a medical examination.

Panaji, Sep 5 (IANS) The drug trade was going on unchecked in the previous Congress-led regimes but it took a BJP-led government to show the guts to raid an illegal rave party in Goa and catch bigwigs, state Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said on Saturday. "Big fish involved in drug trade have been caught by this government. Drug business will be finished in Goa. This government had the guts to conduct such a big raid involving influential people. If the government was not keen, such business would have continued unabated," Ajgaonkar told reporters on Saturday referring to an illegal rave party busted in North Goa's Anjuna beach village. A small-time Bollywood actor Kapil Jhaveri along with Shailesh Shetty, an aide of former Goa Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, three foreigners and more than a dozen other revellers were arrested by the Crime Branch of the Goa Police, after its team busted the rave party in which drugs were being consumed. Ajgaonkar said that the drug trade was not new to Goa and had flourished during the previous regimes led by the Congress party. "In the previous Congress government regime, drugs used to be sold openly and there was internal fixing with drug dealers. This government is firm and all its MLAs support action against drug trade," Ajgaonkar told reporters. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has already warned of "zero tolerance" to drugs in the state. Panaji, Aug 26 (IANS) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday accused an Opposition MLA of tampering with a photograph to show that a small-time Bollywood actor who was arrested last week in a drug-related case, had met Sawant on the latter's birthday this year. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Sawant said the Opposition MLA Rohan Khaunte, had cropped the date out of the Instagram screenshot, to show that the meeting between Kapil Jhaveri -- who was arrested for organising an illegal rave party last week -- and him was held during the Chief Minister's birthday on April 24 this year. "The Opposition MLA is trying to distract attention from the main issue. He has cropped the image to hide the real date," Sawant said. The Chief Minister's meeting with Jhaveri was held on January 2 instead, following a formal appointment protocol, Sawant's office has said. On Tuesday, former Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte had alleged that Sawant and several senior state BJP leaders were associated with Jhaveri and had shown photos featuring Jhaveri along with Sawant and other ruling politicians, as proof of the association. Khaunte made the allegations after one of his close aides Shailesh Shetty was also arrested on August 19 for co-organising the rave party and was booked under sections of the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act by the Goa Police Crime Branch officials. --IANS maya/dpb/bg

In a huge jolt, a Mumbai Special NDPS Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of <keyword id="6499181" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aryan-khan" source="Orion">Aryan Khan</keyword> -- the son of Bollywood superstar <keyword id="1671" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shah-rukh-khan" source="Orion">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> -- and two others, in the rave party raid case aboard a cruise ship on October 2 The court also declined the bail applications of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, the two accused in the drug case lodged by <keyword id="6356903" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narcotics-control-bureau" source="Orion">Narcotics Control Bureau</keyword> (<keyword id="238749" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ncb" source="Orion">NCB</keyword>). Khan's lawyer said that though the detailed order of Special Judge V.V. Patil is awaited, "they plan to appeal to the Bombay High Court today or tomorrow seeking bail". Khan, Merchant and Dhamecha, along with five others were detained on October 2, and placed under arrest on October 3 after the NCB raid on the ship preparing to sail for a Mumbai-Goa cruise. Initially, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate R.M. Nerlikar had sent them to a day's custody which was later extended till October 7, and later sent to judicial custody for 14 days, and transferred the case to the Special NDPS Court. Later, their lawyers moved the Special Court for bail which was rejected after several days of hearing in which the NDPS' counsel Additional Solicitor-General Anil Singh vehemently opposed bail for the accused. Among other things, the NDPS accused Aryan of being a regular consumer of drugs, dealing in narcotics with international links, etc., which was opposed by his teams of lawyers, and the other co-accused. A total of 20 persons, including a foreigner, have been arrested in the sensational cruise ship raid.
