<ul><li>As the number of Covid-19 cases keep going up in India, various brands and business tycoons have come ahead to donate to help the government in its drive to control the spread of the virus.</li><li>While many companies have created funds to contribute to the PM Cares Fund, a lot of other brands are contributing by donating sanitizers, masks and even food, to help those in the need.</li></ul>The world, as we knew it even till a month back, has changed. In India, the brand will be distributing 10 million units of Dettol Soap to the most vulnerable. RB will also be donating 1 million litres of its disinfectant products including Lizol disinfectant liquid and Harpic toilet cleaners to aid India’s states in fighting this crisis especially in public health institutions and at the frontline with health and sanitation workers. It will donate critical protection equipment, 3.5 million N95 masks with a focus on pharmacists and health care workers. These will be distributed across their major markets. Godrej Group: The Godrej Group announced that it is earmarking a fund of Rs 50 crore for community support and relief initiatives in India. This is an initial outlay and the corporate said that it hopes to supplement it over time. It has been buying and supplying medical equipment and protective supplies for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). As a part of the initiative, the group has donated Rs 5 crore to the BMC, donated 115 hospital beds to Maharashtra government hospitals and helped set up a 75-bed quarantine center at the Seven Hills Hospital. How brands are contributing to the fight against Coronavirus

New Delhi, May 12 () The coronavirus pandemic is like world war and if some funds could be marshalled into certain areas, there could be another wave of innovativeness arising out of a problem just like what happened in World War II or the Cold War, according to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata.The current health crisis is a time to support "our own innovativeness", invest in it and "not dismiss something as being too far out but being something we should look at", said the Chairman Emeritus of Tata group holding firm Tata Sons in an interview on business news channel CNBC-TV18."It is not a world war but it is like a world war. There is a dramatic need for vaccine, there is a dramatic need for solutions and strange things happen," Tata said.He further said, "I think we have to look back and say where so and so innovativeness has its roots. Quite often it has its roots at time of crisis and we have a crisis on our hands today and so there is an issue of throw your hands up, you have this crisis and then there is our own innovativeness, it comes to play, that is a time we need to support to invest, to not dismiss something as being too far out but being something we should look at."On the roles that governments can play at present to support collaborations, he cited the example of the US where new industries have been ushered into with the government providing billions of dollars, "which the private sector would not have been able to do", to support "new technologies and biotechnology or in integrated circuits or in total variety of things"."...if we at a time like this had a way of marshalling some funds in certain areas, we could have another wave of innovativeness arising out of a problem just like we have had in World War II or the Cold War. New partnerships, everything is up for grabs."He said the crisis has stretched limit of innovation, which for a few years was thought to be at its limits."But a hard thing to say is that the virus today has an issue of generating those questions and forcing them on us, otherwise we would go along until there was a more enterprising entrepreneur who thought it. I think we have to look at this as an opportunity to do something that is more innovative than we would have done in 2020," Tata said. New Delhi, May 11 () Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata on Monday said the coronavirus pandemic will force entrepreneurs to adapt, create and find ways to enable new or modified enterprises that would be benchmarks of tomorrow. While seeking not to "downplay the challenges and the difficulties embedded in these current times" the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons -- the holding firm of Tata Group said, "It can all start on a clean sheet of paper that looks at ways of doing things that were never thought of before." In a post on social media platform Instagram, Tata hoped that entrepreneurs will find a better way to run their operations following the pandemic that has severely disrupted economic activity. "In past difficult times, entrepreneurs have displayed farsightedness and creativity that could not have been believed to exist. These became the flagpoles of innovation and new technology today. "I hope that the ability to find another way to build a product, run a company, run operations a better way, will emerge as an outcome of the current crisis," he said. Tata, who was the Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 till his retirement on December 28, 2012, further said, "I won't downplay the challenges and the difficulties embedded in these current times. But my confidence remains high in the inventive nature and the creativity entrepreneurs today who will find ways to enable new or modified enterprises that would be benchmarks of tomorrow". All of Indian Railway's employees have pledged one day's salary to the newly-formed Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund, according to union minister Piyush Goyal. (Eds: Adding details) New Delhi, Jun 5 () The USD 111 billion Tata Group is not looking to monetise investments to raise capital and has enough cash to support group firms, its Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Friday as he sought to scotch speculations about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the group's business. The Board of Tata Sons, the holding company of the salt-to-software conglomerate, met on Friday reportedly to evaluate and discuss strategies to allocate funds to group companies and prioritise sectors needing more liquidity. Without mentioning the board meeting, Tata Sons issued a statement to "dispel the recent unfounded rumours" about the group. "The Tata group companies, like all other companies, are facing both challenges and opportunities arising out of the pandemic and resulting economic situation, based on the industries and markets they operate in," Chandrasekaran said in the statement. "All our group companies are progressing well responding to these challenges and opportunities and we are confident that they will emerge stronger," he added. Terming reports on the impact of COVID-19 on the group as "malicious" and intending to undermine the performance of the Tata group and discredit the Chairman Emeritus Ratan N Tata, he said the group is well poised to capture new opportunities. "We are focused on navigating the current situation and profitable growth," he said. "Tata Sons is in a strong financial position with adequate cash flows to support the group companies and new growth initiatives. Companies across sectors have borne the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown imposed to curb its spread. The <keyword id="43588" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Health-Organization">World Health Organization</keyword> (WHO) said that it is "unrealistic" to expect the <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">Covid-19</keyword> pandemic to be over by the end of 2021. "I think it will be very premature, and I think unrealistic, to think that we're going to finish with this virus by the end of the year," Dr. Michael Ryan, executive director of the WHO's Health Emergencies Program, said at a press conference here on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported. "But I think what we can, if we're smart, finish with the hospitalizations, the deaths and the tragedy associated with this pandemic," he said. Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, chief scientist of the WHO, added that "the goal of COVAX is to bring an end to the acute phase of the pandemic by the end of 2021." COVAX is a program led by the WHO, Gavi (the Vaccine Alliance) and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) aiming at distributing Covid-19 <keyword id="79555" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vaccines">vaccines</keyword> around the world. "We still face a <keyword id="10852686" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="huge-challenge">huge challenge</keyword> in rolling out vaccines equitably and fairly to those who most need them around the world," Ryan said. "We're in a much better position than we were. But nothing is guaranteed," he added. As the world is struggling to contain the pandemic, vaccination is underway in some countries with the already-authorized <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> vaccines. Meanwhile, 256 candidate vaccines are still being developed worldwide -- 74 of them in clinical trials -- in countries including Germany, China, Russia, Britain and the United States, according to information released by the WHO on February 26. COVID-19 pandemic won't be over by 2021, says WHO

New Delhi, Apr 16 () Tata Trusts on Thursday said it is airlifting critical supplies, including PPE kits, surgical masks and gloves, worth Rs 150 crore for deployment across the country to support the fight against coronavirus pandemic in association with Tata International Ltd. The items being imported comprise personal protection equipment (PPE) kits which include coveralls, masks and gloves, N95/KN95 masks and surgical masks of different grades, the philantrophic organsation said in a statement. Tata Trusts further said the "consignment of about one crore individual units will arrive in multiple batches and will be deployed where these are most needed across the country in the coming weeks". "The total value committed so far for sourcing of such materials is about Rs 150 crore," it said. Tata Trusts said its intervention follows Chairman Ratan Tata's call that "urgent emergency resources need to be deployed to cope with the needs of fighting the COVID-19 crisis, which is one of the toughest challenges the human race will face". <ul><li>Domino’s has resumed its contactless delivery services in New Delhi according to an alert sent to customers.</li><li>The services were initially launched on March 17 but suspended thereafter when the country went under a 21-day lock down.</li><li>The company claims that its restaurants, delivery bikes, delivery bike boxes, and pizza delivery hot bags are sanitised every four hours</li></ul>The pizza delivery mammoth Domino’s has resumed contactless delivery in the national capital today, March 29. In an alert to customers in New Delhi, the Jubliant FoodWorks’ enterprise said they can check availability in their area to order “safe and hygienic” pizzas. <div type="image" title="WhatsApp Image 2020-03-29 at 10.28.51." msid="74871265" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Domino&amp;#39;s alert to customers in New Delhi informing them that &amp;#39;zero contact deliveries&amp;#39; have resumed&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Domino’s had originally launched this offer on March 17 but had to curtail their services when Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented a 21-day lock down across the country. Now, the delivery service seems to be up and running again. How does ‘zero contact delivery’ work? Customers have to place thier order online and pay digitally for their meal. Once the order has been accepted, a ‘safe delivery expert’ will arrive at your home and place the order in front of your door. He’ll move back to a safe distance so that you can come pick it up and confirm its delivery. According to the company, its restaurants, delivery bikes, delivery bike boxes, and pizza delivery hot bags are sanitised every four hours. It claims that all its pizzas are safe for consumption as they were baked at 245 degrees Celsius and the healthany employee working on the production or delivery line is checked before they get to work. Initially, contactless delivery service was launched across all of Domino’s 1,325 restaurants across the country. So far, the recommencement of services has only been confirmed in New Delhi.
