Two JCBs, a big crane and two tipper trucks, along with 60 labourers were brought to the site for the demolition. Manikant <keyword id="6377546" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mishra" source="Orion">Mishra</keyword>, commandant of the State Disaster Response Force said, "Of the two hotels, Malari Inn will be demolished in a step-wise manner today. First of all, the top portion will be demolished. It is being done because both the hotels have tilted and have come very close to each other due to the sinking." "Their demolition is essential because there are several houses and hotels around, if these two sink any further they can collapse. So, experts decided to demolish them. CBRI experts are coming, they conducted a survey yesterday and now they'll give more technical info on the same," Mishra added. Thakur <keyword id="263984" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="singh-rana" source="Orion">Singh Rana</keyword>, the owner of Hotel Malari Inn, said, "I did not receive any notice from the administration. I am with the government's decision to demolish my hotel in the public interest. But I should have got notice before that." The work of razing the dilapidated buildings, which have been declared unsafe to live in, has also started. According to Disaster Management Secretary <keyword id="330456" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ranjit-sinha" source="Orion">Ranjit Sinha</keyword>, the buildings are being systematically demolished. The ones which have more cracks are being demolished first. Unsafe buildings will be demolished first. The help of explosives is not being taken to demolish the buildings. Under the supervision of CBRI scientists, a PWD team is demolishing the buildings with mechanical techniques. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt reached here and is holding a meeting with officials at the Army base regarding the situation in the area in Joshimath. So far 678 houses have developed cracks due to land subsidence in Joshimath. Not only this, even the roads have caved in at many places. Water is continuously gushing from under the ground. As Uttarakhand's Joshimath sinks, authorities start demolition of two hotels that leaned towards each other

This has impacted the employment of about four lakh persons working in the different sectors like hotels, marriage lawns, community centres. restaurants, florists, band, tents, music and decorative lights. <keyword id="16233" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Surendra-Sharma">Surendra Sharma</keyword>, President of the hotel and restaurant association in Lucknow, said, "There are about 800 small and big hotels in the state capital and almost all of them were booked for the <keyword id="6358814" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="wedding">wedding</keyword> season. Though the cancellation of bookings has led to losses and unemployment, we can safely say that the sector has suffered a loss of around Rs 125 crores." He further said that lakhs of people are employed during the wedding season. "There is tremendous scope for 'seasonal employment' for this. From tailors, washer men, waiters, cooks, florists and beauticians-people are employed for the season. This has led to loss of living for these people," Sharma said. According to the manager of a five-star hotel, while some customers have cancelled bookings and taken refund, many have decided to extend the date to May and June. "However, after reports of the lockdown being extended, we are not sure if people will opt for a May wedding," he said. <keyword id="9030075" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ratnesh-agnihori">Ratnesh Agnihori</keyword>, whose daughter's wedding was planned for April 8, then shifted to May, said, "I think we will either postpone it to next year or making it small and simple. I really do not know when it will be convenient to hold the wedding because now all academic sessions will undergo major changes also. We had even distributed wedding cards." <keyword id="1416753" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ranjit-Mishra">Ranjit Mishra</keyword>, who works as a private security guard, said that he had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh and all preparations for his daughter's wedding had been finalized. Bhawanipatna, Jun 15 () A 60-year-old woman in Odisha's Nuapada district had to drag a cot with her sick mother lying on it to a bank around 300 metres away to withdraw money after its employees allegedly refused to give it to the daughter until the 80-year-old Jan Dhan account holder appears personally. As a video of the woman purportedly showing Punjimati Dei of Bargaon village dragging a cot with her mother on it, with intermittent breaks to catch her breath, has gone viral. Bank officials described the incident as unfortunate and said it happened because of a communication gap. The manager of the branch was suspended on Monday after a preliminary enquiry, Utkal Grameen Bank Chairman Ranjit Kumar Mishra said. "Though payment was made (on June 10), the unfortunate incident had happened. Utkal Grameen Bank regrets the whole incident and the matter is being looked into for necessary action," the bank said in a statement. Dei had gone to the branch on June 9 to collect Rs 1,500 from her mother's Jan Dhan account, which came under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalayan fund to tide over the COVID-19 crisis. The central government had in March announced Rs 500 monthly assistance for women Jan Dhan bank account holders from April to June. Some of the villagers claimed that Dei had been to the bank to withdraw money from her mother's account but the branch officials refused, saying the account holder needs to come to it personally. So, she had to take her mother to the bank on June 10. As the video triggered a row, the head office of the bank directed its regional manager in Bhawanipatna, Asim Patra, to conduct a probe. Patra said he visited Bargaon on Sunday and conducted a field enquiry into the matter. The inquiry showed that on June 9, Punjimati Dei visited the Bargaon branch, enquired about the status of the account of her mother Labhe Baghel and asked for the withdrawal of Rs 1,500, which came to the account. The bankers asked for personal appearance of the account holder, he said. When the woman said that her mother was sick and cannot visit the bank, the branch manager promised her that he will personally visit her house the next day and hand over the money to her mother, Patra said. "However, the next day around 9.30 am, the daughter took her mother to the bank pulling her on a cot even before the branch opened. The branch manager handed over the money to her mother after it opened," he said. The inquiry also revealed that the house of the woman is about 300 meters from the bank, which has only two staff the branch manager and a cashier. Branch Manager Ajit Pradhan since there was heavy rush in the branch on June 9, he promised the woman that he would visit her house on June 10. But unfortunately, before the opening of the bank, the woman brought her mother to the bank pulling her on a cot. "It was a misunderstanding on the part of the daughter of the account holder," he said. Bank Chairman Ranjit Kumar Mishra said though the branch manager had no intention to harass the woman, he could have coordinated with her in a better way and explained the situation properly, he said.
