A nice romantic movie with soft soulful music is all that we could have asked for Valentine’s Day weekend. From the looks of it, <keyword id="6357861" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ranbir-kapoor">Ranbir Kapoor</keyword>, <keyword id="2180" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arjun-Rampal">Arjun Rampal</keyword> and <keyword id="6354417" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jacqueline-Fernandez">Jacqueline Fernandez</keyword> starrer <em><keyword id="715" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Roy">Roy</keyword></em> promised to be all that. However, the reality was far different from the same. <a href="http://www.desimartini.com/movies/roy/md3110.htm">Desimartini’s verdict</a> of the movie reads, “No amount of Ranbir Kapoor could save this overindulgent wreck of a film.”<br />

The movie started on a good note on Friday and managed to mint Rs 10.40 crore on Friday. The Valentine’s Day helped in maintaining the momentum and the movie managed to add another Rs 11.16 crore to its weekend total. On the other hand, Sunday had a different story to tell. This multi starrer movie ended up collecting Rs 7.12 crore, taking the overall weekend tally to Rs 28.68 crore. The drop that the movie witnessed was partly due to the bad reviews and also because of the India Vs Pakistan 2015 World Cup match.<br />
 <br /> Another movie that opened this week was <keyword id="254528" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-Rahim-Singh">Ram Rahim Singh</keyword>’s controversial movie, <em>MSG: The Messenger</em>.  Over the weekend, this movie managed a mere Rs 6 crore and has been touted by the critics as a self-praising movie, made just for the fans.<br />

We just hope things to improve immensely in the coming week when Varun Dhawan starrer <em>Badlapur </em>hits the big screen. If the promos are anything to go by, it looks like an intense fair and Dhawan is expected to woo the audiences with his powerful performance.<br />

The rupee strengthened by 6 paise to 78.04 against the US dollar in opening trade on Friday as easing <keyword id="45185" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="crude-oil" source="Orion">crude oil</keyword> prices supported the local unit.<br /><br />However, unabated foreign fund outflows, a lacklustre trend in domestic equities and strong American dollar overseas restricted the gain, forex dealers said.<br /><br />At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened strong at 78.03 against the US dollar, then inched lower to quote 78.04, registering a rise of 6 paise over the last close.<br /><br />In the previous session, the rupee had closed at 78.10 against the US dollar.<br /><br />On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share Sensex was trading 251.06 points or 0.49 percent lower at 51,244.73, while the broader NSE Nifty fell 90.15 points or 0.59 per cent to 15,270.45.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.60 per cent to 104.25.<br /><br />Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures slipped 0.78 per cent to USD 118.88 per barrel.<br /><br />Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 3,257.65 crore, as per exchange data.<br /><br />Meanwhile, an RBI article has said India is better placed than many other countries to avoid the risks of potential stagflation with recovery broadly on track, notwithstanding an increasingly hostile external environment.<br /><br />The government does not see any adverse impact on the Indian economy post the US Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates by 75 basis points, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth said on Thursday.<br /><br />"All central banks are grappling with it and taking adequate measures which are needed to control inflation. I see a fair amount of coordination ...directly or indirectly they are moving in tandem," Seth told reporters.<br /><br />"So, I don't see any adverse impact of that (rate hike by Fed) because the Reserve Bank of India, in the two previous cycles, has already taken adequate measures," he said.<br /><br />On Wednesday, the US Federal Open Market Committee, on expected lines, raised the target range for federal funds rate by 75 basis points to 1.50-1.75 per cent. Blippar's celebrity face-mashing app is filled with pictures of killers, terrorists, and dictators

<br /> <keyword id="183329" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Leela-Samson">Leela Samson</keyword>, the danseuse of Bharatnatyam, who until now served as the chief of Censor Board has resigned from her post, quoting "interference, coercion and corruption of panel members and officers" as the reasons.<br />
<br /> Another person to put her papers down is <keyword id="205953" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ira-Bhaskar">Ira Bhaskar</keyword>, who served as a board member of Central Board of Film Certification (<keyword id="238857" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="CBFC">CBFC</keyword>), the censorship and classification body run by the Union Information &amp; Broadcasting Ministry.<br />
<br />
Although Ms. Samson's term for three years had officially ended in April 2014, she was serving the post until further allotment of the post by the newly framed government. Likewise, all the board members including Ms. Bhaskar were continuing till further notice.<br />
<br />
As per reports, Ms Bhaskar had discussed resignation earlier as well, but held on because of no proper order in the censor board. She also went on to say that in the past one year, there was no official meeting by the members of the board despite the rule of a quarterly meeting by all members.<br />
<br />
The whole ruckus has been amidst the controversy over the denial of release of the movie <em>MSG – The Messenger of God</em>, which features Dera Saccha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the lead role. The movie was granted approval overnight by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT), which is the body one approaches after being denied approval for release by CBFC.<br />
<br />
With two veterans putting their papers down, the road ahead is certainly not smooth for the censor board, where corruption seems to be a major issue. However, I&amp;B minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has asked for proofs from Ms Samson regarding her claims of corruption in the ministry. Let's see how things roll from here on.<br />

Leela Samson, Ira Bhaskar Resign From CBFC; Blame Corruption In Ministry

The New Year started with a bang as far as the Bollywood <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> is concerned. <em>PK</em> got the cash ringer ringing, and as per the <a href="http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/box-office/special-features/id/421">reports</a>, has managed to get collections to the tunes of Rs 632 crore (worldwide). We were expecting the same effect to continue as we stepped into 2015 with the release of <keyword id="1969424" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tevar">Tevar</keyword>.<br />
<br />
In 2014, we saw action-romance movies did pretty well and <em>Tevar</em> too fitted in this category. On top of it, the movie has a fresh pairing of Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor. The rumours of their off screen relationship were expected to help the movie to get off to a good start.<br />
Unfortunately, Tevar was off to a lofty start. The movie just managed to collect Rs 7.05 crore. Things did not change much over the weekend and the total ticket collections for the opening weekend of Tevar were <a href="http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/moviemicro/boxoffice/id/718510">recorded</a> at Rs 22.05 crore.<br />
<br />
The movie is directed by Amit Sharma and has been made in a budget of Rs 45 crore. As per <a href="http://www.koimoi.com/box-office/tevar-1st-monday-box-office-collections/">Koimoi.com</a>, Tevar has managed to collect Rs 29.25 crore till Wednesday (January 14, 2015).<br />
<br />
We just hope that the things are not the same for the movies releasing in the coming week. There will be four movies trying their luck on January 16, which include Alone, Crazy Cukkad Family, Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene and MSG: Messenger of God.<br />
<br />
With the movie <em>Alone, </em>television heartthrob  Karan Singh Grover will be making his debut in Bollywood. Starring opposite him in this movie is Bipasha Basu. It is a horror movie, which is directed by Bhushan Patel. Patel has been accredited with movies such as 1920: Evil Returns and Ragini MMS 2.<br />
There have been speculations about Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu being the next “it” couple, but from the promos we don’t see any sizzling chemistry between the two. In addition, there seems to be nothing new that we think that the movie will offer to the audience.<br />
Coming over to the other release of this Friday, MSG: Messenger of God, which is the story of Ram Rahim Singh. There are already plenty of controversies around this movie but if all goes well, then the movie is likely to get a good opening at the box office.  <br />
