By Gurdip Singh Singapore, May 5 () Singapore reported 632 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, mostly foreign workers living in packed dormitories, taking the total number of infections in the country to 19,410. The Health Ministry said of the new cases nine were Singapore citizens or permanent residents (foreigners). "We are still working through the details of the cases and further updates will be shared," the ministry said. The novel coronavirus has so far claimed 18 lives in the country. The Singapore government is ramping up testing capacity with a view to starting nationwide COVID-19 testing, National Development Minister Lawrence Wong told Parliament. Minister for Communications and Information S Iswaran on Tuesday addressed the concerns of the migrant workers living in dormitories, who have been subject to stringent restrictions and active testing. Speaking in Tamil for workers from India, Iswaran explained the need to test them and their co-workers. The Indian-origin Singapore minister said the government has "undertaken numerous efforts to enhance the quality of food and facilities" within the dormitories. The video was dubbed in Bengali and forwarded to Bangladeshi workers via WhatsApp. "If tested positive, we will provide (your friends) with the necessary medical care fully paid by the government. We will provide you with the necessary quality medical care as we do for Singaporeans. This is our promise," said Iswaran. As of Monday, more than 5 per cent, or 16,383, of the 323,000 migrant workers living in dormitories have tested positive for the virus, including a large number of Indians. Many workers remain quarantined in their rooms, while the stay-home notice period for work permit and S Pass holders in the construction sector has been extended by another two weeks to May 18. Iswaran said he had approached four Indian stars to have them send their wishes and encouragement to the workers. The celebrities include actor Rajinikanth and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Composer A R Rahman and actor Kamal Haasan have already conveyed their good wishes. Haasan said: "When we look after ourselves, don't forget that it is also like we are looking after the government. The government is not a separate entity from us, we are all part of the same ecosystem." Rahman urged the workers, like their countrymen in India, to follow the government's announcements and practise safe distancing. "It is in your hands for you all to be careful and stay safe," said the Oscar winning musician. Minister Iswaran said the workers should visit official sources such as gov.sg for correct information and not worry themselves with fake news. He said services in the dorms have been enhanced to make sure workers can communicate with their families, get necessary information from the Internet, and watch their favourite films, reported The Straits Times on Tuesday. Over the weekend, the government announced that some of the tough restrictions put in place during Singapore's circuit breaker period will continue till June 1. They were to be eased on Monday. For the lifting of COVID-19 "circuit breaker" measures to reopen businesses locally, the daily number of local community cases should fall to zero or single digits over a sustained period of time as well as lower the infection levels in foreign worker dormitories, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong had told the Parliament earlier. It is not just my victory, it is the victory of each woman, each child, each mother, and each and every citizen of Delhi. In the last five years, we have only tried to bring a little relief to the lives for the people of Delhi. We have tried to bring in as much development as I can, and that will be our effort in the next five years too. Sachin and Binny bansal’s <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> <keyword id="2546653" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Big-Billion-Day">Big Billion Day</keyword> was a bubble waiting to burst. The sale that was touted as the biggest sale in India by shoppers across the country seems to have disappointed many. According to consumers shopping on Flipkart, the website has been facing several technical glitches, which ultimately led to the website crash. 
	 
	The distressed shoppers took to Twitter and Facebook to express their disappointment. One such tweet @i_theindian read, “just in: even Rajinikanth failed to log-on to flipkart! #bigbillionday #flipkartsale #ullubanawing”. Similarly, another tweet by another customer read, “on #flipkart #bigbillionday I can only see billion error messages "500 server error, 502 that's an error" site's unusable. What's the point?”. 
	 
	However, this may be just one of the miniscule problems for the e-tailer, who is also being criticized for not offering great deals. Many consumers have claimed that the discounts offered are not genuine. “#bigbillionday its not too late yet @flipkart ! to save all the dignity &amp; respect you had earned, just start giving away some real steals :)”, tweeted a shopper. 
	 
	Another such tweet read, “let me know if somebody is selling achhe din on #flipkart or #checksnapdealtoday or #bigbillionday too”. 
	 Additionally, it is being alleged that eCommerce major has not offered deals that were advertised by it in the media. “The flipkart sale is as big a hoax. While the Moto series phones are on site as advertised, no other product is on discount as advertised. Some are out of stock, some aren't listed at all, and then the comparison sites tell that online prices of fashion products went up three days back to facilitate this sale. Be careful before you press that pay button,” ad man Naresh Gupta, managing partner of a leading creative agency <keyword id="1033490" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bang-in-the-Middle">Bang In The Middle</keyword>, posted on Facebook. 
	 
	Making fun of the sale, he joked, “Breaking news: Idea mobile releases a new song to celebrate online sales. it says mil kar ullu banaouing। ‪#‎hoaxzila”. 
	 
	 
	 On the other hand, its rival <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> has been faring well. Many of the consumers, who have been waiting for flipkart’s mega sale today, have moved to the online marketplace to shop. Chinmay Vaidya, another online shopper tweeted, “ ‏@snapdeal i hate @flipkart, let’s see what have you got #checksnapdealtoday”. 
	 
	Sharing a similar sentiment, another such twitteratti posted “huge upset to #flipkart #bigbillionday ..#checksnapdealtoday is trending no.1.. by the way, don’t forget to #checksnapdealtoday”. 
	 
	Reports have suggested that Flipkart has been heavily advertising for the day and made huge investments in the technology and logistics for Monday’s mega sale. The company has also put together nearly 10,000 people as its field staff to meet the delivery orders today. The big billion day sale started at 8 am in the morning and is expected to get over by midnight.

Women dominated this year's <keyword id="6391019" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Padma-awards">Padma awards</keyword> for sports with tennis star Sania Mirza and ace shuttler <keyword id="30618" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Saina-Nehwal">Saina Nehwal</keyword> getting the nod for the Padma Bhushan, while archer <keyword id="86231" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deepika-Kumari">Deepika Kumari</keyword> was chosen for the Padma Shri here today.

	"It is a great honour and I want to thank the Ministry for giving me the award. I am very happy with the way the last year has gone, I have been performing well. I reached World No.1 last year and now I am World No.2. I am sure this award will give me more motivation to do well further this year," Saina said. 
 

	"It came as a complete surprise to me. I had no clue. I did not expect at all. There was no news of it at all. When I think that I am just 25 and I have received this award, it makes me feel great. But it is still a long way to go." 
 

	Saina was left disappointed after the Sports Ministry decided to reject her application for the award in January last year, citing norms. 
 

	The ministry had picked two-time Olympic-medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar for the honour last year. 
 

	Saina was bestowed the Khel Ratna and Padma Shri in 2010 and also received the Arjuna Award in 2009. 
 

	The 21-year-old Deepika, meanwhile, had also won the team silver along with Laxmirani Majhi and Rimil Buriuly in the World Championships.
