	 Taking another step towards cementing its bilateral ties, India and Germany have signed an agreement to financially support the Green Energy Corridors (<keyword id="264938" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="GEC">GEC</keyword>) project. The Exchange of Note was signed under the <keyword id="2648060" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indo-German-Bilateral-Development-Cooperation">Indo German Bilateral Development Cooperation</keyword> on Wednesday. 
	 
	Together, both the countries are planning to create transmission infrastructure in the renewable energy rich states across India, which can later be transferred to the national power grid. 
	 “Government of Germany has committed funds amounting to Euro 500 million for GEC project this year. In this regard, the Exchange of Note, signed by the German Ambassador, was presented to <keyword id="1928895" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajiv-Mehrishi">Rajiv Mehrishi</keyword>, finance secretary, government of India, by Heiko Warnken, head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Germany to India here yesterday. With this, the total commitment from government of Germany for GEC project stands at Euro 750 million. In 2013, government of Germany had committed Euro 250 million,” as per a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance. 
	 
	The government has also signed three loan agreements for the project for a total loan amount of Euro 625 million. “Rajesh Khullar, joint secretary of Department of Economic Affairs, signed loan agreements with German government’s Development Bank KfW to provide a loan of Euro 76 million to Tamil Nadu and a loan of Euro 49 million to Rajasthan for intra-state transmission schemes,” the ministry said. 
	 
	“Power Grid Corporation of India Limited signed loan agreement for Euro 500 million with KfW for inter-state transmission schemes,” it added. 
	 
	The Department of Economic Affairs also inked an agreement with KfW for an amount of Euro 4 million in order to provide technical assistance to Himachal Pradesh Forest Ecosystems Climate Proofing project as well as Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Development Fund project respectively.

Chandigarh, Apr 30 () Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday chaired an all-party meeting on the Covid-19 situation and said senior political leaders of the state extended full support to the government's various steps for tackling the crisis.Khattar thanked all state leaders for extending support to the Haryana government's steps for curbing the spread of coronavirus.The chief minister held a two-hour-long video conference, in which former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, Home Minister Anil Vij and opposition INLD MLA Abhay Singh Chautala, among others, participated.There was complete support for the recent decision of putting strict curbs on daily travel across borders of Jhajjar, Sonipat, Gurgaon and Faridabad, the districts which fall in the national capital region, an official statement said after the meeting.Haryana has maintained that many of the coronavirus cases in its NCR districts have their origins in infections emanating from the national capital.Home Minister Anil Vij expressed hope that with curbs on inter-state movement, Haryana would soon be able to check the spread of the virus.During the meeting, the fourth one to be held after the lockdown was announced to check the coronavirus spread, the leaders were informed that the procurement of wheat and mustard was in full swing. About 30 lakh metric tonnes wheat and over 2.90 lakh metric tonnes mustard has been procured till Wednesday.A total payment of about Rs 591 crore for mustard has already been remitted in accounts of 52,645 farmers. Apart from this, another payment of Rs 700 crore for wheat is being released on Thursday and will be credited to the account of farmers in the next three-four days.In the meeting, it was also decided to refer the inquiry of suicide case of an inspector of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Kurukshetra to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Chandigarh, May 9 () Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday claimed that nearly 1,000 investors want to take their investments out of China and explore other destinations and said the state has got into touch with some of them.The Haryana government had recently chalked out an aggressive strategy to woo investors/companies intending to either shift from China or set up new manufacturing facility in India, a state government statement had said here on Monday."Coronavirus has spread in the entire world, it started from China, and the investors in China from various countries... (have) made up their mind to explore other destinations," Khattar said Saturday evening in a televised address to the people of the state about COVID-19 situation."As per our information, 1,000 investors are those who want to take out their investments from China and go to other countries. We are in touch with them. Through video conferencing, we have talked to some of the investors," He said the investors from Japan, America, Korea, Germany, Australia, Taiwan want to come and invest in India.Khattar said Haryana was offering a congenial atmosphere to such investors for investment."In terms of 'Ease of Doing Business', we were at 16th spot in 2014 and now we are at 3rd position," he said.As part of the state government's strategy to woo the investors, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rajesh Khullar, held an open house with potential investors on May 6, 7 and 8 through video conferencing/webinars.The Haryana government has prepared a strategy to create windows in the existing state policies that would ensure quickly setting up manufacturing facilities in any industrial estate of the choice of investors wanting to shift base from China, the statement had said.Earlier in the day, Khattar held a webinar with more than 100 representatives of MSMEs.The chief minister said he had assured them that the state government was with them in this hour of crisis, as the COVID-19 situation had in particular dealt a blow to the MSME sector.Many labourers get employment in this sector, he said, adding with economic activities restarting amid lockdown, nearly 3 lakh workers are working now in this sector. "We want our industry to flourish," he said."After MSME, If I talk of big industries, companies like Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Samsung, Escorts Group, Jindal Steel Industry, Liberty and other companies have played their role in state's progress," he said.He said that Karnal and Kurukshetra were famous for rice belt, Panipat for its handloom industry, Jind and Panchkula for hatchery industry, Yamunanagar for plywood industry, Karnal and Bahadurgarh for footwear industry."They are Haryana's pride and we want these to move ahead and flourish," he said.
