And this time around, here’s a <keyword id="2059277" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Homegrown-dating-app">homegrown dating app</keyword> that helps one find his/her match on <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword>. <keyword id="2059272" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Krush">Krush</keyword> is an <keyword id="956764" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Android-app">Android app</keyword> that introduces you to the single <keyword id="343" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Friends">friends</keyword> of friends on the social media site. Simply put, it uses your Facebook data and takes in several points such as age, gender, profession, interests, etc., to find a ‘suitable’ match who is right there among the friends of your FB connects (which means he/she is not exactly a stranger and you have at least one common connect). 
 
The app has been developed by a three-person tech start-up from Bangalore and the beta version has been launched in January this year. Krush can be <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.krushapp.krush&amp;hl=en">downloaded</a> for free from <keyword id="6369511" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google-Play-Store">Google Play Store</keyword> and the <keyword id="75489" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IOS">iOS</keyword> version will be released on the Valentine’s Day (February 14), according to <keyword id="2059273" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajat-Rao">Rajat Rao</keyword>, the co-founder and CEO of Krush. He also claims that the app has been downloaded over 8,500 times since its beta launch and the Windows version will come up in the near future. To download Krush, you will require <keyword id="6355645" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="android">Android</keyword> 2.3.3 or up. Last we checked, the <keyword id="2059284" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="App-rating">app rating</keyword> stood at 4 on <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> Play. 
 
How Krush works It’s pretty simple, really. Just log in using your Facebook account and the app does the rest. Think of Krush as your <keyword id="2059285" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Personal-matchmaker">personal matchmaker</keyword> that understands who you are, going by your Facebook data (age, location, likes, interests, activities, etc.), and subsequently matches you with compatible friends of friends. The app sends you 10 <keyword id="2059286" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Daily-dates">daily dates</keyword> and you can ‘<keyword id="98821" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="like">like</keyword>’ or ‘skip’ those – anonymously. If you like a ‘match’ and the other person also likes you back, Krush breaks the ice and introduces the two of you. But unless there is a ‘<keyword id="2059288" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Like-back">like back</keyword>’ and the feelings are mutual, users can’t contact each other, thus ensuring privacy and safety. 
 There are other premium safety features as well, which make Krush stand out. For instance, every date suggested by the app also features at least one mutual friend. This goes a long way in ensuring that you only see people who come from a <keyword id="2059296" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Similar-background">similar background</keyword>. Moreover, Krush never shares your phone number, exact location or other personal details. Finally, the ‘likes’ and ‘skips’ happen anonymously – so there’s no feeling of rejection either. 
 We came across a small hitch as well and found that the app also picks up matches from the list of <keyword id="1757502" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="FB-friends">FB friends</keyword>, instead of limiting itself to friends of friends. “That only happens when Krush can’t find a <keyword id="1522299" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="suitable-match">suitable match</keyword> among friends of friends,” explains Rajat. It does not really matter, though, and makes us feel that the ‘surprise’ element has not really gone out of dating even in this age of technology. Chances are some of these ‘friends’ never got down to expressing their feelings and Krush may just provide that freak chance to get them going this V-Day. 
 
But even the default premises of the app keep the surprise element alive. There are friends of friends who didn’t even know that their matches existed until they used Krush. In fact, quite a few users are surprised to discover so many interesting people (via Krush) who are just one degree of separation away, but practically invisible. 
 Right now, the focus is not on <keyword id="2059303" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="App-monetisation">app monetisation</keyword>. But going forward, revenues can be generated via <keyword id="2059304" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="User-fee">user fee</keyword> and also through partnership with <keyword id="2059306" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Food-beverage-chains">food &amp; beverage chains</keyword>, so that couples have plenty of options for going out. But ask Rajat why the threesome opted for a <keyword id="1095218" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dating-app">dating app</keyword> instead of a utility app and pat comes the reply – it’s the need of the hour. “People want to date but can’t muster enough courage to meet people, especially if they are strangers. But Krush being anonymous, one can safely express interest without compromising on safety and privacy,” he explains. The idea came to Rajat when he was in college and had to tactfully ward off requests for introduction to girls he happened to know. “Sometimes, I had to ask for introduction and suddenly realised there had to be an easier way to <keyword id="2059308" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Connect-with-friends-of-friends">connect with friends of friends</keyword>. That’s how Krush started,” he adds. 
 
So what’s next? The big vision for Krush is to help you assemble the perfect date in the same way you’d choose the toppings of a pizza. The company has already doubled its workforce to 2000 since last year, Vineet Rao, founder and chief executive officer of DealShare, told Business Insider. The hiring outlook is a part of DealShare’s plans to further strengthen its business this quarter by focusing on filling the gaps in the business in order to build a stronger offering. Simultaneously, the company plans to expand its business 3x and enter another 100 cities in this fiscal year (FY 22-23). “Because we were growing up so fast there have been lots and lots of problems that have also creeped in. In some places my assortment is not perfect the way it should be, people are not finding all the things that they should find in DealShare, in some places pricing and promotions are not right, in some places the inventory is not available as much as it should be,” Rao told Business Insider. DealShare serves more than 3 lakh orders per day across 1,000 pin codes spread over 150 cities in 10 states. The company believes that even with the expansion to 250 cities, a large part of their traffic would come from their existing 150 cities instead of the newly added 100 cities. The company also claims to have crossed a billion dollars in gross revenue run rate last month. DealShare has raised $393 million to date since its inception in 2018. The company was founded by Vineet Rao, Sourjyendu Medda, Sankar Bora and Rajat Shikar. It primarily focuses on sale of groceries and household essentials through social media and messaging platforms like WhatsApp. The Jaipur-based company entered the unicorn club earlier this year, after being <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/ecommerce/news/social-e-commerce-platform-dealshare-raises-45-million-from-adia/articleshow/89641250.cms">valued at $1.7 billion</a>. DealShare competes with other social commerce platforms like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/citymall-a-startup-that-helps-budding-entrepreneurs-start-their-ventures-on-whatsapp-has-raised-over-22-million/articleshow/83741383.cms">CityMall and BulBul</a>, among others. Looking beyond hiring, Dealshare has plans for inorganic growth, too The company is also looking to strengthen its business by acquiring 5-10 small brands, with their own manufacturing units, in an attempt to expand its offerings. Rao emphasised that they would be looking to acquire fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and staples companies majorly, but will also look at essential fashion. The four-year-old startup has not yet decided on an average ticket size yet as the deal size would depend on the acquired company. Rao noted that the transaction could go as low as ₹25 crore. The company is currently exploring options for debt to fund these acquisitions. Separately, DealShare also claims to always be on the lookout for acquiring companies that can further boost its operations like logistics or technology. The round was led by the New York-based venture capital firm and was co-led by WestBridge Capital, Alpha Wave Incubation and Z3Partners. Partners of DST Global, Matrix Partners India and Alteria Capital also participated in this round. This marks the third funding deal for DealShare in a span of seven months. The company claims that its valuation has increased nine-fold in this same period. The Jaipur-based startup has not shared any other details about its valuation. Avendus acted as the exclusive financial advisor to DealShare on this transaction. The startup will use this funding to invest in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven innovations to offer more personalised experiences to its customers as well as improve and scale operations. A part of the funding would also be used for DealShare’s geographical expansion. The social commerce startup aims to increase its footprint from 20 warehouses across 5 states to over 200 warehouses across 10 states by the end of 2021. “We are proud to have a strong team of innovators who love to continually learn consumer behaviour and solve hard business problems. This has enabled DealShare to rapidly grow to $200 million GMV [Gross Merchandise Value] ARR [Annual Run Rate]...
