Hindi cinema is now over a 100 years old, and in the century of its existence, it has given many memorable movies to the world, some of which have become the icon of <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> in the international galleries. 
 
An artist called Rahul Arya used his expertise in sand art to recount the glorious history of Hindi cinema, and the result is just commendable. Luckily for us, he decided to make a video of this trip down the cinematic memory lane and shared the same on his YouTube channel. 
 He started it off with the first Bollywood movie, the silent <keyword id="71554" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raja-Harishchandra">Raja Harishchandra</keyword>, and carried it on till the 2015 blockbuster <keyword id="2411684" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bajrangi-Bhaijaan">Bajrangi Bhaijaan</keyword>, collecting the bits and pieces of almost every iconic Bollywood movie released in between. New Delhi, Jun 26 () COVID-19 dedicated hospitals in Delhi have been directed to immediately install CCTV cameras in all wards to enhance patient care, according to an official order issued on Friday. The Delhi health department order also said that all dedicated COVID-19 facilities shall permit one attendant of the patient in hospital premises who will remain in an area earmarked by the hospital. The directions have been issued in compliance with a June 19 order of the Supreme Court. Delhi Health Secretary Padmini Singla said the instructions are for "immediate compliance". "All COVID dedicated hospitals are directed to ensure that CCTV cameras shall be immediately installed in all wards of a hospital," it said. The PWD has already been directed to assist the hospital management in finding out requirements of patients admitted in COVID wards and to ensure transparency in their care, it added. The order said all dedicated COVID-19 hospitals are also directed to ensure that footage from the CCTV cameras shall be made available to the inspecting or supervising expert team as per the directions of the central government. "All COVID dedicated hospitals shall create a helpdesk, accessible physically as well as by telephone from where the well-being of patients admitted in the hospital can be enquired," it said. The dedicated COVID-19 facilities under the Delhi government are LNJP Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGSSH), GTB Hospital, Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital and Satyawadi Raja Harishchandra Hospital. Dedicated COVID hospitals in Delhi to have CCTVs in all wards; permit one attendant

New Delhi, Jun 30 () The three teams of medical experts constituted by the Union health ministry will conduct regular and surprise inspections at various COVID hospitals in the national capital, officials said. Each of the three teams will have domain experts from the AIIMS, Directorate General of Health Services in the Union health ministry, Delhi government and civic bodies. "The teams will conduct inspections and submit their report for the preceding week to the Secretary, health ministry and Chief Secretary of Delhi every week by 5 pm on next Tuesday," according to an order issued by the Delhi health department on June 29. It said, the Union health ministry on June 14 had constituted the three teams of domain knowledge experts comprising doctors from the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, Delhi, DGHS (Health Ministry) and the Delhi government, assisted by officers from municipal bodies. The aim is rapid assessment of the existing capacity, patient care amenities and associated aspects of the COVID care facilities under the supervision of the Delhi government in order to have efficient and timely decision-making, the order said. The teams shall perform the work as per the orders of the Supreme Court on June 19, officials said. The order said it is directed that the teams will inspect each of the dedicated COVID hospitals in Delhi, as per the plan, on a weekly basis and also conduct surprise visits, and suggest specific measures for betterment of facilities and patient care services. "The doctors from AIIMS and DGHS are empowered to co-opt other doctors from their institutes or organisation to assist them in this endeavour," it said. First team will inspect nine hospitals, including LNJP Hospital, Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, the order said. Second team will visit facilities, including GTB Hospital and Satyawadi Raja Harishchandra Hospital. (Eds: Combines related stories ) New Delhi, May 30 () Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Saturday asserted that his government is several steps ahead of the novel coronavirus and is more than prepared to deal with it, even as the total number of COVID-19 cases crossed the 18,000-mark and the death toll climbed to 416. He also reiterated that there cannot be a permanent lockdown and focus needs to be on minimising the number of deaths even if cases rise. In the past, Kejriwal had said people will have to learn to live with coronavirus. "Main aapka mukhya mantri aapko yeh bharosa dilana chahata hoon ke aapki sarkar corona se chaar kadam aage chal rahi hai (I, as your chief minister, want to assure you that the government is several steps ahead of coronavirus" he said in an online media briefing on Saturday. "I accept that there has been a surge in the number of cases. It is a matter of concern but there is no need to panic," Kejriwal said. He said the government is making plenty of arrangements to deal with the outbreak. "We are more than prepared to tackle it." According to a health bulletin, with 1,163 fresh infections, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 18,549. The death toll also rose to 416. The previous daily high in fresh cases -- 1,106 -- was recorded on May 29. Among the fresh cases include the medical director of the LNJP Hospital, and two other staff members of the COVID-dedicated facility. A senior technical supervisor with the same hospital also died of coronavirus, officials said. Meanwhile, some more areas were declared as containment zones and their number rose to 122, authorities said. According to a tally, Delhi now stands third after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in terms of the number of coronavirus cases in the country. Kejriwal said the coronavirus cases went up by 8,500 over the past 15 days, but only 500 people needed to be admitted in hospitals while the rest are recovering at home. The chief minister said he is concerned about keeping the death toll to the minimum and ensuring there are enough hospital beds for coronavirus patients. "They (patients) should not struggle to get oxygen or ventilators. At present, 2,100 patients are in hospitals. We have arranged for enough beds and more are being arranged," he said. As of now, there are a total of 6,600 beds and 4,500 of them are still unoccupied, he said, adding that by June the capacity will be ramped up to 9,500 beds. "We are taking over a few hotels too. You need not worry," he told in the briefing. On Friday, the Health Department declared three more Delhi government hospitals -- Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, Satyawadi Raja Harishchandra Hospital and GTB Hospital -- as dedicated COVID-19 facilities. Five more hotels will be attached with private hospitals and function as makeshift medical facilities to treat patients. Kejriwal added that the government is also developing an app to give people information about the availability of beds in hospitals and the ones with ventilators. The app will be launched next week. Kejriwal appealed to the people to not share "malicious" and "unverified content" on social media. "Some people create, post, and share videos for petty and dirty politics. A video of bodies is being circulated since today morning, claiming that the video is of a Delhi government hospital. "It (the video) was not of the Delhi government hospital. In a similar way, a video of low-quality food being served in some government hospital was circulated, claiming it was of Delhi government hospital which is not true." New Delhi, Jun 11 () There have been complaints of non-availability of beds or denial of treatment to COVID-19 patients in the national capital despite nearly 70 per cent of beds in five designated hospitals run by the Delhi government lying vacant, with experts attributing it to people's aversion towards state-run facilities. As per the latest information shared on 'Delhi Corona' app on Thursday afternoon, more than 3,000 beds are lying vacant in these five dedicated COVID-19 hospitals that have a total capacity of 4,344 beds. However, almost all beds at several big private hospitals are shown to be occupied. Families of many COVID-19 patients, confirmed or suspected, have alleged in the past few weeks that they have been denied admission at many facilities or have not been able to get a bed for their kin. Medical and public health experts feel it may be because of the image associated with government hospitals, related to infrastructure and hygiene conditions, and perhaps shortage of staff. According to the latest data available on 'Delhi Corona' app on Thursday afternoon, a total of 9,444 beds are available in private facilities and hospitals run by the central and Delhi governments. Out of these, 4,371 are vacant. The app shows that beds are available at Delhi government-run hospitals dedicated for COVID-19 treatment such as LNJP Hospital (1,219), GTB Hospital (1,314), Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital or RGSSH (242). However, almost all beds at several big private hospitals are shown to be occupied. At LNJP Hospital, there are a total of 2,000 beds, out of these 781 are occupied. GTB Hospital has total 1,500 beds, only 186 of which are occupied. Even at RGSSH, 258 of the 500 beds are occupied. Beds are available at other dedicated COVID-19 facilities in the national capital too, according to the app. Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital has 94 unoccupied beds out of a total 176 and Satyawadi Raja Harishchandra Hospital has 145 vacant beds out of a total 168. This makes a total of 4,344 COVID-19 beds at these five dedicated Delhi government hospitals, out of which 3,014 or 69.38 per cent are vacant. A senior doctor at the RGSSH said, "We are only admitting very serious COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Those with mild symptoms, or asymptomatic, are either being home quarantined or being sent to COVID Care Centres. Our beds are on stand-by also to accommodate serious patients in case there is a sudden rush." Delhi Heath Minster Satyendar Jain had recently said that some private hospitals could have been denying admission, but the Delhi government-run hospitals have not denied beds to any needy COVID-19 patient. He had also said that main private hospitals are almost full to their capacity in terms of number of COVID-19 beds. According to the app, at prominent private hospitals like Indraprastha Apollo, Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, BL Kapur Hospital are fully occupied. Max Hospital in Saket has a total of 200 beds for COVID-19 patients, and only one is vacant. On June 9, the Delhi government had directed 22 private hospitals in the national capital to dedicate a total of 2,015 extra beds for treatment of coronavirus patients, revising its earlier allocation limit of 20 per cent. Lawyer and public heath activist Ashok Agarwal said infrastructure and hygiene are two main factors, and people still want to "avoid government facilities". "I know of cases, where people were willing to be on waiting list of private hospitals but did not go to a government hospital, even though beds were available," he said. Even those who went to a government hospital for COVID-19 treatment, complained of "dirty toilets, and these being used by multiple patients", Agarwal said. "Also, as the cases erupted successively over the months, many people got scared and were in two minds to go to a government hospital, as admitted patients were making allegations in videos and on social media about lack of proper services. Besides, there is shortage of medical staff at various facilities, and each patient needs to be attended to," he argued. Delhi recorded 1,501 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to over 32,000, and the death toll due to the disease mounted to 984, authorities said. "A lot of people want to be treated in private hospitals, but...even Delhi government hospitals will provide you with the best of the facilities," said the CM. "While on one hand the health infrastructure in Delhi has been made adequate, family members of coronavirus patients are still confused about where to take them for treatment. "For the convenience of the people and to eliminate such issues, we are developing an app that will be launched on Monday. The app will show the data and status of beds and ventilators available with each and every hospital in Delhi," he said. People who do not use smartphones can access this information on the website or though 1031 helpline, he said. Indian cinema turns a year older tomorrow, but even after an eventful journey of 101 years, it is still in its prime – vibrant and growing. On this landmark occasion, let us have a look at some of the iconic movie-makers of the past who made Indian cinema what it is today. 
 
On May 8, 1912, Ramchandra Gopal Torney or Dadasaheb Torney, as he was fondly called, filmed a Marathi play titled Shri Pundalik while it was being played on stage and thus made the first feature film of India, Pundalik. But as this movie was sent overseas for post-production processing, it is not formally recognised as the first child of Indian cinema. It was Dhundhiraj Govind Phalke, aka <keyword id="6410992" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dadasaheb-Phalke">Dadasaheb Phalke</keyword>, who was given the credit for making the first Indian feature film, Raja Harishchandra, which was released for public viewing on 3rd May 1913. 
 
Dhundhiraj Govind Phalke, popularly known as Dadasaheb Phalke, was a Mumbai-based photographer, printer, painter and magician. He moved to cinematography after watching Life of Christ at a Christmas cinema show. In his brief career of 19 years, he had made 95 movies and 26 short films. Some of his noted flicks include Mohini Bhasmasur, Satyavan Savitri, Lanka Dahan, Shri Krishna Janma and Kaliya Mardan. He has been bestowed a place of honour in the Hindi film industry and the most prestigious award for contribution to the Indian cinema has been named after him. He is also regarded as the Father of Indian Cinema. 
 
While movie enthusiasts are pretty familiar with Dadasaheb Phalke, there were other pioneers during his time who also played a pivotal role in shaping the Indian cinema. 
 
Dhirendra Nath Ganguly (Early 1920s to late 1950s) 
Hailing from Kolkata, he specialised in satirical Bengali comedies. The first movie to come out of his production house, in 1921, was Bilat Ferat (English title: England Returned), which he had written, produced and acted in. It was directed by Nitish Lahiri. Some of the movies directed by Ganguly were Country Girl, Takay Ki Na Hay and The Marriage Tonic. It was the first movie to show intimate scenes, inspired by its British and American equals. 
 
Chandulal Shah (1930s to 1960s) 
A Gujarati film-maker from Mumbai, he made silent movies dealing with social issues. His noted movies included Typist Girl, Gunsundari, and Barrister’s Wife – all of them starring Gohar Kayoum Mamajiwala, also known as Miss Gohar. In just three years, Shah made around 40 pictures. He also owned the famous Ranjit Studios, in partnership with Miss Gohar. 
 
Himanshu Rai (Early 1920s to late 1930s) 
After meeting playwright Nirnanjan Pal in London, he came in contact with Franz Osten, a German filmmaker, and made some of the classic Indian films including The Light of Asia, Shiraz, A Throw of Dice and Karma. Rai also immortalised his wife Devika Rani as the first lady of Indian cinema, as he cast her in the landmark movie Acchut Kanya.
