Kolkata, Aug 17 () Bengali filmmaker Raj Chakraborty on Monday said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is in home quarantine. "I have been tested COVID-19 positive. My father has been hospitalised recently, but he has been tested negative both the time. In home quarantine right now. Rest of my family members will be testing for COVID-19, too. These are the trying times," he tweeted. The Bojhe Na Se Bojhena director and his wife Subhashree Ganguly are expecting their first child. Earlier, Bengali actor Koel Mallick and a few members of her family had tested positive for coronavirus, but have now recovered. Bengali film director Raj Chakraborty tests positive for COVID-19

<keyword id="299675" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Eduardo-Saverin">Eduardo Saverin</keyword>, the co-founder of Facebook, and prominent Silicon Valley investor <keyword id="3371248" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raj-Ganguly">Raj Ganguly</keyword> have come together and raised $143 million fund for an <keyword id="3371558" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Asia-focus-fund">Asia focus fund</keyword>, using which they would invest in India and South East Asian countries. 
 As per sources, the amount was raised for venture capital investments from a pool of 18 investors. <keyword id="3371559" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="B-Capital">B Capital</keyword>, the firm that Saverin and Ganguly run, invests in varied sectors like e-commerce, financial services, health &amp; wellness and travel &amp; transportation. 
 
The reason behind a special emphasis on India and South Asia is that the region still faces many gaps, the duo stated. 
 
"Whether it is funding availability, stage, talent, institutions, or exits, the presence of such whitespaces in the ecosystem makes it equally challenging and rewarding for investors," said Saverin and Ganguly in a blog post. 
 The fund would focus more on Series B and C rounds, given the potential openings that this segment offers. Having invested in Menlo Park-based <keyword id="3371561" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Evidation-Health">Evidation Health</keyword>, a population health management and analytics platform and Singapore-based <keyword id="3371560" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ninja-Van">Ninja Van</keyword>, a last-mile logistics company for E-Commerce delivery and return, the firm is based in Singapore.

But the destiny had some bigger plans for him. Abhishek Sharma, a software developed, shared on Quora, “Once, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam rejected the suggestion to put broken glass on the wall of a building that needed protection. Why? Because broken glass would be harmful for birds! This happened when Dr Kalam was with the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=drdo">DRDO </a>and his team was discussing options to secure the perimeter of a building that needed protection. Dr Kalam reportedly said, “If we do that, birds will not be able to perch on the wall.” 
 
The other instance is when Quora user Naman Narain drew a sketch of Dr Kalam and sent it to the President. To his surprise, the President sent him a thank you card, with a short handwritten message and personalised with his signature. 
 
At a convocation ceremony of IIT (BHU) Varanasi, Dr Kalam was the Chief Guest. There were five chairs on the stage, the centre one being for him, the other four designated for the top university officials. Noticing his chair being bigger in size than the others, Dr Kalam refused to sit on it and offered the Vice Chancellor to sit in stead. Immediately, another chair was made available for the ‘People’s president.’ 
 Another action that displays down-to-earth demeanour of Dr Kalam is that during his first visit to <keyword id="165422" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trivandrum">Trivandrum</keyword> as the then President, he was entitled to invite anyone as the “Presidential Guests” to Kerala’s <keyword id="138" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raj-Bhavan">Raj Bhavan</keyword>. And as Dr Kalam had spent a significant time as a scientist in Trivandrum, he invited a road-side cobbler – who was quite close to him during his time in Kerela; and so was the owner of the small hotel where Dr Kalam would often have his meals. Can you ever imagine any other politician or a celebrity of his stature inviting a cobbler and a small business owner as his/her most prestigious guests?

Former Indian cricket team captain <keyword id="6359039" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sourav-Ganguly">Sourav Ganguly</keyword> would be studying <keyword id="2857170" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Justice-RM-Lodha-committee">Justice RM Lodha committee</keyword>’s IPL order as he was named in the BCCI's four-member working group formed to study the recommendations. 
 
Former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha-led committee suspended Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings for two years and banned Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra for life from cricket-related activities. 
 
On Monday, Ganguly was named one of the four members of the committee, which will be chaired by IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla and have BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur and Treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary as the other members. BCCI's legal adviser U N Banerjee will assist the panel. 
 
"The committee will have six weeks' time to study the Lodha committee report and will give its recommendations after talking to all the stakeholders. The committee will also consult the legal experts before coming up with recommendations since we do not want any legal complications later on," Shukla told PTI. 
 
Ganguly is also a member of the IPL Governing Council. 
 
Meanwhile, the panel’s job is only to find the way forward so that preparations for IPL 9 can begin. 
 
"We still have some time for IPL 9, so we should not take any hasty decision. We will follow the procedure and come to a consensus on all the matters relating to IPL," Shukla told the news agency.

IPL: Sourav Ganguly to study Justice Lodha committee’s verdict with three others

If you were wondering about the fate of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals after <keyword id="1682587" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gurunath-Meiyappan">Gurunath Meiyappan</keyword> and <keyword id="18641" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raj-Kundra">Raj Kundra</keyword> were banned from any cricket related activities for life, the BCCI has come up with an option. 
 
The BCCI is mulling over running both the teams and appointed them veterans cricketers, who do not have any blot on their career report card. 
 
Sources told Times of India that the matter was discussed during a meeting between BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and board member and IPL commissioner Rajeev Shukla in Kolkata on Wednesday. 
 
Former Indian captains Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid are being considered for running the two teams. 
 
The news daily reported that the board members were also considering the option of introducing two new franchisees as there is a legal commitment to the broadcaster to run the tournament with a minimum of eight teams. 
 
TOI reported that the board taking over the two suspended teams as a temporary arrangement also has the merit of not needing any fresh auctions for players of the two franchises and therefore avoiding the uncertainty and disruption that the other options would inevitably entail for the players.

The 39-year-old Jhulan retired from international cricket following the conclusion of the ODI series in England, in which the visitors secured a first-ever clean sweep to give the legendary seamer a fitting farewell. In an international career spanning over two decades – the second longest in women's international cricket - Jhulan, who made her debut in 2002, represented India in 12 Tests, 204 ODIs and 68 T20Is, picking 355 wickets across formats. "With Jhulan announcing her retirement from international cricket, an era has come to an end. She took immense pride in representing India and always put her best foot forward as she served Indian cricket with distinction," BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said in a press release. "She was the leader of India's bowling attack and her feats will continue to inspire the present and budding cricketers. Her contribution to the game has been monumental. "While her inspiring presence on the field will be missed, her achievements will continue to motivate the upcoming cricketers," Ganguly added. Jhulan, who went on to play five ODI World Cups -- 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022 -- remains the leading wicket-taker in the history of the Women's World Cups. Jhulan Goswami’s two decade-long career is ‘monumental’, says BCCI on her retirement

"Samrat Prithviraj", which is all set to release in theatres countrywide on June 3, depicts the life of legendary warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan, played by Akshay Kumar. Akshay had said that the film was based on the life and daredevilry of the "last Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan who shed every drop of blood in his body to defend Bharatmata". "Our film salutes the courage and valour of the mighty king and we hope that the people of our nation are inspired by his values of protecting his motherland at any cost," the actor had said, according to a press release. On Tuesday, the team held a screening of the film for Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles. The eighth season of Indian reality show Bigg Boss, which started way back in September last year is finally coming to an end. 
 
If reports are to be believed, Gautam Gulati, Preetam Singh and Karishma Tanna are the contestants who are going to fight it out for the winning title and the rumoured prize money of Rs 5 million. 
 
Dimpy Ganguly and Ali Quli Mirza are out of the race and would be eliminated in tonight’s episode. 
 The former host of the show, superstar <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword> is rumoured to make a comeback for the season’s finale. 
 
What started off as another yearly season of the reality show was dragged into another show named Bigg Boss Halla Bol, because Chakravartin Ashok Samrat, the show which was supposed to replace <keyword id="1985489" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bigg-Boss-8">Bigg Boss 8</keyword>, was not ready.
