<keyword id="127875" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vineet-Taneja">Vineet Taneja</keyword>, who served as the CEO of India’s second-largest handset maker Micromax, has reportedly resigned from his position after working for them for two years. 
 
"Vineet has moved on to pursue other interests. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him good luck," a Micromax spokesperson said in an emailed statement. 
 
The Gurgaon-headquartered company is yet to announce the name of the person who would succeed Taneja as the company’s CEO. 
 
Taneja, who was earlier associated with Bharti Airtel, Nokia, and Samsung India had joined Micromax in July 2014. 
 
In the past few quarters, there have been quite a few movements in the company’s top level. While in August last year, Chairman Sanjay Kapoor had stepped down, January saw Vikas Thapar being appointed as the Senior VP (Finance).

Micromax’s CEO, Vineet Taneja quits

<keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword> is shutting down two of its offices in <keyword id="6356789" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gurugram">Gurugram</keyword> and is looking forward to shifting 200 or so employees to the premises of <keyword id="6388367" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jabong">Jabong</keyword>.com, the fashion ecommerce company it acquired in July for $70 million, in the same city. 
 According to Myntra’s chief executive <keyword id="6397414" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ananth-Narayanan">Ananth Narayanan</keyword> Staff, working mostly on building international brands and cataloguing will move to an empty floor in Jabong's Sector 18 building. 
 The offices that are being shut down are located on MG Road at <keyword id="6361136" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IFFCO-Chowk">Iffco Chowk</keyword> and at Udyog Vihar. The Sector 18 building is also home to food-order startup Foodpanda. 
 "It makes great economic sense to come here, instead of having three different offices operating,” <keyword id="349696" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rahul-Taneja">Rahul Taneja</keyword>, chief business officer at Jabong, told ET. 
 
The management is trying to get both Myntra and Jabong to profitability at the EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) l evel by December 2017, Narayanan has said. 
 
"We are going to push for both and we are going to look for (ebitda profitability) together,” he told ET, adding that Jabong is expected to grow 30-50% in the financial year ending March 2018.

The unicorn round saw participation from Paramark Ventures, along with existing investors like Premji Invest, Blume Ventures and Kedaara Capital. It was valued at $1.1 billion. The company plans to use this capital for acquisition and fund its inorganic growth plans. “The infusion is an opportunity to further our mission of building the beauty industry in India with technological investments, scaling of our private brands, and industry-first innovations,” Manish Taneja, co-founder and CEO of Purplle, said. Its competitor Nykaa currently had a market cap of ₹68,377 crore ($8.7 million), as pn June 9. Purplle — Founded by Manish Taneja and Rahul Dash in 2011 — is an ecommerce platform that offers beauty products, appliances and cosmetics. Nykaa competitor Purplle is the latest unicorn after a $33 million fundraise

Nykaa's rival Purplle raises $38 million from Pantaloon’s CEO, Sequoia

<keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> wants to bank on the home services category as well and is piloting it in four cities. 
 
As its rivals are foraying into the home service sector, Snapdeal is launching it across Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Pune on a 40-day pilot basis. 
“Home-services is an interesting space and we will decide on the business model which works best for us," said Rahul Taneja, VP of category management at Snapdeal. 
 
Presently, Snapdeal will offer services such as carpentry, plumbing, pest control and installation services. 
 
As per reports, the home services category has a huge potential to grow and saw large investments last year. 
 
Meanwhile, Sulekha and JustDial have also revamped themselves to give an app-based on-demand service to its customers.

Snapdeal will now host festive sales every Monday till Diwali as it is looking to grow its business multi-fold and overtake its rivals. 
 “The e-commerce marketplace, which is gunning for the top spot by sales this fiscal to overtake rival <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, has already grown sales ten times during the just concluded online Diwali shopping week as compared to the week before,” Snapdeal's vice present (category development) Rahul Taneja told ET. 
 
Snapdeal, which delivered five million packages till October 15, wants to speed up its delivery process as well. 
 
Reportedly, Snapdeal, recently, raked in money in its back-end like fulfilment centres and talent. 
 
It had invested more than $100 million in logistics earlier this year. Snapdeal now has warehousing space of 1.3 million square feet, 63 fulfilment centres across 25 cities.

It is not over yet! Snapdeal will host festive sales every Monday till Diwali

Not all’s well at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=micromax">Micromax</a>. Insiders at company suggest that the chairman of Micromax <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Sanjay+Kapoor+">Sanjay Kapoor</a> has put in his papers. Kapoor, who had joined the company just more than a year ago, resigned because of his growing differences with promoters. 
 
 While the Indian born handset maker didn't elaborate on the reasons of Kapoor’s resignation, the company in an email to The Economic Times has said, "Appropriate announcements will be made in due course. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him luck for all his future endeavours." 
 
 Discussions are underway regarding the financial terms of his exit, one of the sources revealed. When <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Sanjay-Kapoor-Becomes-the-Chairman-Of-Micromax-India/articleshow/36110042.cms">he joined in June 2014</a>, Kapoor had been entrusted for making Micromax a global brand, helping it raise money and boost its software capabilities. His primary tasks included focussing on new products and grow on areas such as data, access, storage, analytics, applications and content, apart from devices. 
 
 "Differences regarding these and more have been rising over a period of time. But now they have reached a point that they can't be reconciled," sources disclosed to the financial daily. 
 
Kapoor, a former <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bharti+Airtel+">Bharti Airtel</a> chief executive for India and South Asia, is also a director at PVR and Bennett, Coleman &amp; Company Ltd. 
 
 
 At the time Kapoor joined, Micromax also hired Samsung India mobile head Vineet Taneja and another Bharti Airtel veteran Badal Bagri to power growth and build a bigger brand before an initial public offering (IPO). Taneja and Bagri remain firmly entrenched in the company, the people said. 
 
 The IPO plan included bringing in strategic investors to fuel Micromax's next phase of growth. That involved likely funding from a consortium led by Ant Financial Services Group, China's leading online financial services company that owns <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Alipay">Alipay</a>. This is also said to be going slow, because of the outgoing chairman and the promoters not being on the same page and also due to differing valuation expectations. The four founder promoters - Rahul Sharma, Rajesh Agarwal, Sumeet Kumar and Vikas Jain - own a little less than 80% of the company. Micromax had announced plans two years ago to enter Russia by the end of 2013 and other European countries subsequently. It has a negligible presence in Russia and hasn't gone further afield, although it has ventured into parts of South Asia. 
 
 
Its efforts to invest in app makers with the aim of becoming a services company rather than just a mobile phone vendor and its launch of youth brand Yureka have been helmed by cofounder Sharma. Micromax is also a licensee for the emerging Cyanogen mobile operating system. 
 
 
 Being on top after a tough fight, Micromax has dropped to second position in terms of market share, which is 17%, as per an IDC data.

Even as the average selling price of air purifiers doubled from Rs 6000 in 2014 to Rs 12000 in 2015, the demand was seen growing by 5 times indicating a growing awareness and preference for advanced features over price. 
 
Eating healthy has also been on the shoppers’ mind in 2015, as air fryers saw a 4 fold surge in sale and Ayurveda &amp; Organic products emerged as a popular upcoming category. The top five buying cities for Ayurveda &amp; Organic products were New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

This is a part of EESL implementing the Centre's <keyword id="2835385" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Efficient-Lighting-Programme">Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme</keyword> (<keyword id="2677500" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="DELP">DELP</keyword>). 
 
"Under the campaign, Snapdeal will be selling LED bulbs at Rs 99 and enable the Ministry of Power to increase distribution of LED bulbs through its online marketplace to its customers spread across over 5,000 towns and cities of India," said the statement issued by Snapdeal. 
 
This partnership would enable the government to increase its distribution reach for LED bulbs, so that the cause of the DELP programme to promote efficient lighting can be strengthened and awareness on using LED to reduce electricity bill can be enhanced, thereby increasing the efficiency in domestic energy consumption. 
 
"Snapdeal is proud to be chosen as a partner by the Power Ministry to support its DELP programme. With our unmatched reach in metros as well as tier 2 and beyond, and our huge customer base, we will be able to support the Government achieve its target of replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs," said Rahul Taneja, Vice President, Category Management, Snapdeal.

As per DELP, the government aims at replacing all the 77 crore incandescent bulbs sold in India with LED bulbs, which would result in the reduction of 20,000 MW load, and save energy of 105 billion KWh and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions while savings 80 million tonnes every year. The online marketplace is offering indigenous products like handlooms and handicrafts from different regions of the country in a special curated store it calls ‘Pride of India’. This comes after it entered into partnerships with state governments and central government bodies like Tribes India, Central Cottage Emporium. The company says the customers will also get Super Value Stores for specific categories of products. 
 
Speaking about the sale, Rahul Taneja, Vice President-Category Management, Snapdeal said, “The Republic Day Sale will see discounts go up as high as 70 per cent. At the same time, Snapdeal customers will find a more varied range of categories and products to choose from. Looking back at the euphoric response we have seen for special sales on earlier occasions, we expect the average daily users to grow by eight to ten times throughout the republic day week.”
