 Calls and texts sent to Rahul Singh from Business Insider remain unanswered. The NRAI and Zomato have been engaged in a bitter dispute over the foodtech giant’s discount programme that goes by the name ‘<keyword id="4299597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato-Gold">Zomato Gold</keyword>’. The battle has led as many as 2,000 restaurants across India to logout of the platform including those from Tier 2 cities, according to Rahul Leekha, owner of Coffee by Di Bella and a member of the NRAI. The latest salvo from Goyal seems like an attempt to split the community of restaurant owners. He shared screenshots of the gold programme launched by Beer Cafe in August itself and implied that the movement against Zomato benefited a few large chains at the expense of smaller ones. “This is not about aggregators vs restaurants; this is about the small restaurant owner vs the large restaurant owner - and we are being painted as bullies. This logout campaign as it seems now, is driven by Rahul Singh, along with the participation of a few large restaurant owners, to use the NRAI platform to sabotage aggregators and benefit themselves,” Goyal wrote in his post. The logout movement was started by the NRAI chief Singh and multiple other restaurants against the deep discounting offered by food aggregators. Zomato had then offered to change its Gold programme to restrict the usage frequency, allowing consumers to use it just once in a day, which it is planning to stick to.

New Delhi, May 10 () Sitting on a liquor stockpile of around Rs 3,000 crore, restaurants and hotels across the country are asking state governments to allow them to sell the stock lying with them due to the coronavirus lockdown. "We are truly living in unprecedented times where on one hand we are sitting with expensive liquor inventory and on the other hand, we are cash starved," National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) President Anurag Katriar said. The industry sees a ray of hope as many states have permitted sales of retail alcohol. "We request every state government to allow us an opportunity to sell our liquor stocks, preferably through home delivery model. "This will help us deplete our stocks, raise some money to take care of urgent people needs and will still be compliant to social distancing norms. We understand that this may require some amendments to the law but I am sure it can be carried out under the current extraordinary circumstances," Katriar said. In similar vein, The Beer Cafe founder and CEO Rahul Singh said liquor sales in India take place through three licenced verticals -- retail, horeca (hotels, restaurants and catering) and canteen stores department. The total horeca licenced places are around 30,000 in the country and "at any given time, the stock in hand would be for 1 month. Which means that due to lockdown, the total unsold inventory lying at various horeca outlets across India would be around Rs 3,000 crore," he added. While retail sales of liquor are opening, the service industry continues to be in limbo, he said. "What we are asking the state governments is simple. All we are asking is to allow us to sell our stock on a temporary basis. We would like to sell our stock," Singh said. Every country in the world has done this and it is also needed to be done here, he added. "At least allow us to sell this stock that is with us of around Rs 3,000 crore and get liquidity to pay wages and government should make temporary amendments to the rules. It will also ease the queues at the retail outlets," he added. The Supreme Court had on May 8 asked states to consider non-direct contact or online sales and home delivery of liquor during the lockdown period to prevent the spread of coronavirus on account of crowding at the shops. Greater Noida, Feb 12 () India's flagship motor show Auto Expo came to a close on Wednesday after witnessing over 70 product launches and unveils, recording a total of 6.08 lakh visitors over eight days. This edition of the Auto Expo witnessed over 352 product displays from 108 exhibitors, including eight global premiers, over 70 launches and unveils, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement. Keeping in pace with the trend for eco-friendly vehicles, the expo also saw launch of 35 electric vehicles, while 15 concepts were showcased. New participants included Chinese players such as Great Wall Motors and Haima Automobile along with Olectra. The expo, however, missed the likes of Toyota, Honda, BMW, Audi and two-wheeler majors Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co, which had stayed away from the show. The biennial motor show had kicked off on February 5 at India Expo Mart here under the shadow of coronavirus outbreak as officials of Chinese participants stayed away from pavilions, on a day when China's Great Wall Motor announced an investment of USD 1 billion to tap into the country's auto market.  Four years since its launch, Bira91 is making Indians more accustomed to beer, but according to their own taste! It recently launched a beer for the Indian masses – Boom, which is available across 10 states in the country.
